Stayed here for 2 nights with a baseball team. Staff was freindly and accomodating. The rooms, are updated but small. Again it served the needs of a team stay, with the staff allowing the players and parents to do what they do with out hassle which is nice. Complimentary breakfast, was very good!
While on a camping trip with young children, we decided that a one night hotel stay would be a treat for the children. Having researched hotels in the area we chose the Royal Oak because it offered breakfast and a water slide. We were very disappointed that indeed the breakfast was not free and they gave no exchange rate on... more
Stayed here for 3 nights for a wedding. Although the hot tub was down, the pool and waterslide were fun. Staff were nice/helpful. Good free breakfast every morning. Rooms just need a little updating is all.
We headed to Brandon for a hockey tournament, and this is the hotel our team was staying in. I knew it had been around for a while, as I had stayed there last as a child, some 30 years ago. Although the lobby was nicely renovated, the rooms were not. They were clean, but have a very poor air conditioning... more
Front desk was good rooms were clean and comfortable but rather basic. Cleanliness was acceptable there was a little grunge on the grout in the shower but nothing that was a dealbreaker. Beds were comfortable if a bit too soft and too warm for non winter weather. The heat was on and it was slightly difficult to figure out how... more
Stayed here while on company training. Check in was a little slow due to computer issue but I would imagine it's fairly quick otherwise. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable - but rather plain. Very spacious. Slept well except for being woken up by some noise. Could not figure out what it was.... more
Although it was very clean, and staff was friendly, the parties never seem to end there because there is a popular bar next door. I was working, so I didn't appreciate being woken up for hours on end every night. *security is good and will deal with it, I'd like to add. Echo restaurant(in the hotel) is WAY WAY over... more
Stayed here overnight for a conference, and the conference was paying for the room. There were a bunch of hockey tournaments in town and the hotel was sold out. I was put in the hospitality room, which was weird, but fine.
The room was clean. Not sure what they use to clean the sheets and linens, but I woke up...

Stayed here with my wife after a function in the banquet rooms downstairs. Cocktails were supposed to be at 6. 30 and eating at 7. 00. Guess what we didn't eat till around 8. 00. The service and slowness of the bar and kitchen staff was second to none. We hqve been here lots and never had it this bad.... more
I was in town for military business and my regular hotel of choice was unavailable due to a large conference in the Brandon area. i thought I would give the Royal Oak a try and regretted it within five minutes of entering my room. I would have checked out if every hotel in town wasn't already sold-out. The first thing... more
We don't normally stay in a hotel when in Brandon, but what can I say, lots of space in our room, and the pool area was very clean both times we used it. The staff was very nice, and the fact that there was both a lounge downstairs and a nightclub next door didn't lead to any trouble (they actually... more
We stayed here while at a hockey tournament in Brandon. Last year we stayed at this same hotel and did not have a positive experience but they seemed to have listened to the concerns from last year and therefore we had a very pleasant experience this year. The room was just the right temperature, it was very quiet, I had... more
The WiFi for Blackberry and playbook does not connect on these type of OPEN WifI setups. You have to have a Hotel network with a password in order for RIM to connect. Stayed at the Royal Oak Inn for one night ona quick business trip through Brandon. Hotel was okay with large rooms and generally clean. Wifi in the rooms was good and it had mostly up to date furnishings such as flat screen TV's. The night I was there numerous other colleagues didn't have any hot water, however, I must have... more
I stayed for 3 nights in a suite and the room was clean as to staff was very friendly.
The furnace did not work...made lots of noise but wouldn't put out any heat and it blew right at my face in bed so I had to shut it off!

Came with my boyfriend who was on work and brought our toddler son. My boyfriend had booked the room over the phone a week prior to our arrival. We were booked in the wrong room and had to move the next day. The women had just said the lady he had talked to was new and booked us wrong. Took... more
A little over-priced (but this appears to be true of all of Canada).
The positives: The front desk clerk was very pleasant. The pool area looked great with hot tub and big slide. The entire hotel is non-smoking (a plus for us). The room is comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom is roomy enough and there is a fridge and...

I stayed at this hotel this past week.
The hotel staff was very friendly and breakfas was complimentary and of great choice and quality.
The disapointing part was with the room temperature which was at around 25 C and the air system fan was so noisy that it baffled/overpowered hallway or outside noise.
Inside my room on the wall beside...

I travel to Brandon a lot and have stayed at the Victoria and Best Western. But I keep going back to the Royal Oak. I find the staff very friendly and always willing to do their best to clear up any problems. When I was there in February, I was given a room that was cold and I was unable... more
Horrible experience from start to finish. Booked the " wheat kings package" online . When we checked in at 4 ( check in time is 3 ) our room was not ready, and they had no idea where our tickets for the hockey game were. Was wanting to stay at the Victoria Inn on the same street. My friend wanted to do the Royal oak inn. We checked in on thursday night. Walked up the hall to our room and the place looked terrible. Wall paper hanging, just looked tattered. Our rooms were nice snd clean. Beds comfy. Four pillows each bed. Wifi didnt work... more
Stayed for two nights as part of a business trip to Brandon. Front desk staff was OK, but didn't tell me my room in the tower gave me access to underground parking - I had to go back and ask. Some renovations under way in the older part of the hotel.

We spent 2 nights that had multiple problems. We were at the back of the hotel next to the parking lot that allows diesel trucks to park right under the windows. Turns out we were directly across the hall from the service room for the chamber staff so if the diesels didn't waken you, the staff walky-talkies certainly did. I... more
I stay at this facility on every business trip to Brandon (about every 6 weeks), and am always pleased with the Royal Oak. Rooms are large, well appointed and very clean. Love the covered parking in the winter, too. Echo Diningroom is great for dining in, or room service. Never have had any problems here.
We experienced the same type of weekend as outlined in the review below this review. However, I chose to personally phone the management on Monday morning, after also trying to make headway with the front desk attendant on Sunday morning.
I was able to reach Jason, the general manager, and outlined our weekend stay. I asked him if the hotel...

Seriously don't know where to start.
We stayed the night of January 19...checking went smooth, but parking was a nightmare.
Got to the room and was completely blown away by the extreme temperature in the room. SO HOT. Upon further investigation we see that the thermostat was already turned off. And we have a pool view, so can't open the...

Brandon is my home town and it was always thought that this hotel was the place to stay. The room temperature was absolutely unbearable we propped the door open and the windows to try and cool it off. We stayed for a hockey tournament and from the moment we walked in till we left, the room was way too hot. The rooms themselves were quite nice (with both a microwave and fridge) and clean however, due to the temperature we were not able to enjoy ourselves in the room. We stayed here with a hockey group. When we first walked into our room the heat was cranked and it was boiling hot. We opened the window and it stayed open the whole time we were there as the room never did cool down, we had friends that had a poolside room and their room was even hotter than ours.... more
We booked our room mistakenly through Expedia. Although we saved money , unexpected events came up and we had to cancel our room for one night instead of the two. It has taken a whole month and many phone calls to get our money back, even though we followed the instructions of the hotel as well as Expedia. Not worth... more
I didn't rest as well as I would have if they had shut off the pool lights at night after the pool closed instead of just dimming them. I found that it was an aggravation to have those lights on all the time even when they are so called dimmed the glare into the room is to much. The could... more
I recently stayed at the Royal Oak Inn on business. It was my first trip to Brandon from Winnipeg. I took the shuttle bus and when I told them I was staying there they made a comment about wishing me good luck because they have really bad customer service skills.

This place is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in -- period. Never have I dealt with someone in the service industry with such disrespectful attitude. The Microtel Inn and Suites in Parry Sound was close, but this takes the cake.
First of all, there was no heat in my room and you couldn't turn off the air conditioning....

We had a terrible stay at the Royal Oak Inn. Although being poolside initially seemed great because it helped distract the babe while we got organized, the pool's 10:30pm closing time (and indoor waterslide) made for a very excited child until way past her bedtime. The windows appear to have been paper thin. Further, our floor happened to be inhabited... more
We recently spent 7 nights in a "Junior Suite" room at the Royal Oak. This room configuration was an excellent choice for our family. Room was clean and quiet. Staff were extremely helpful. Dining room experience was very positive - food was great. Dining room staff remembered our drink order from previous visits - coke no ice and coffee with cream. Excellent menu choices. Service was fast.
Cleaning staff were efficient and room was always neat and clean when we returned.
Overall, had a good stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was also very clean, and for the most part, pretty quiet. Had a couple of drinks and nachos at the bar. Nachos were, not great, but good, and not too bad of a price. The internet also worked great, which was a plus. The main downside... more
Stayed at the royal oak for my sons provincial baseball tournament. We had a good time...stayed poolside and things were quite for the most part. Hotel manager was not pleased I used Expedia to book the hotel. The doors to the rooms are very heavy and when left to close by themselves are really noisy. We had two nights with drunken kids partying all night, not fun. Rooms are comfortable and clean.
The hotel was totally not worth the price of the room.
The staff was rude and not interested in assisting us. At times the staff seemed incompetent and more interested in chatting. The serving staff was rude.
The pool was cold and the second day the pool attendant was either sleeping or more interested in texting.
The front desk staff...

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was ruined by loud music, and drunk, loud guests. Went to Brandon Jan/2012 for hockey. The whole team stayed here and I booked the 2 queen bed suite. Our room was very spacious with the queen beds in one room... more
The Royal Oak is a decent place to stay in Brandon, although it needs some investment to refresh it a lot. They have recently renovated the lobby, hopefully some work in the rooms are coming soon. We have never slept here but we've dined at their restaurant and wine bar ECHO once. It was really nice!! The service was great, the food was good and the wine really nice. For a wine bar I thought they could have had a more extended wine list but the wines they had on the list were good.

We stayed at the Royal Inn for one night so we could take our three grandchildren on the waterslides. Our room; a suite with two queen size beds; was roomy and perfect.
