This is a really cute restaurant and the menu looked promising, so we went in. We were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant was modern looking with an interesting looking glass wine cellar near where we sat. The waitress was very friendly and helpful.
We had:
Mussels - delicious, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed.
Chicken with lemon couscous - very...

I had the duck confit - which seems to be the most popular dish in Quebec City - it is everywhere. But not everywhere equal. I had missed a great duck confit dish at another restaurant (I ordered something else) and was trying to find a duck dish to match what friends had had. This was not it. It was... plus
We chose to eat here after walking on one of the main roads in Old Quebec and seeing a decent looking menu and an empty patio table. Our waiter seemed annoyed with us, never came to check on us, and was ages bringing even our drinks to us, let alone our food. When he finally did bring the food, it... plus
This once was a very good place to eat, but sadly they moved down the street last winter and I was told the Son took over from his Father. The result is not good in my opinion. Dad did a much better job, Son needs to remember what he was taught. Food higher priced, meals lower quality, service and atmosphere... plus
The starter was VERY good (warm goat cheese on a bruschetta) and the main dish was excellent (beef ribs). We shared it with my daughter and could hardly finish it. I mean it was HUGE!
But it was so good we could leave a piece on the plate.
The creme brulee was great.
The service is very nice and friendly....

We had dinner at this restaurant. The wait staff was awesome and very accommodating of Americans. I had a pizza which was really good and my wife had fish and chips which was equally good. Her only complaint was that her fries were only Luke warm. We will definitely return to this place, it was a lot of fun.
We orderet steak with fries and salad. I was very surprised to see that entire salad was arugula, which I loved. Price is great compared to other places, we paid $ 16.50 and portions were great (and we really eat a lot).
I stopped in for lunch and had a panini and a pop. Panini was pretty decent, not earth shattering, but good. Not $15 worth though which is what it cost.
Atmosphere was nice....open air place on a warm sunny day. Service was OK....I ate at the bar and the bartender was quite busy but tended to me as needed.
I went there alone for dinner.
I was surprised when I walked passed the restaurant since it has just opened recently and I had never noticed it before.
I found the decor to be quite appealing and decided to give it a try. I ordered scallops with fennel and "lobster oil" for appetizer and it was just average. Then I...

we really enjoyed our meals,we started with pate de foi gras, my wife had the black boudin entree and I had the bouillabaisse, We ordered a bottle of wine I tasted it and knew that my wife would not like it I gave her a taste, and she did not like it, our server offered us an other wine without any... plus
The meal my family and I had at this restaurant was good. However, they didn't come around to fill up our water glasses and it was strange playing Spanish music in a French restaurant. Still it's a good place to eat and it does have wi-fi. Just ask.
We ate here on our first day in Quebec City. We had just checked into our hotel and were quite hungry. We were having a late lunch. We were quickly seated and a large menu board handwritten in French was placed on our table to review. We were able to figure out a few things. Fortunately our waitress was very... plus
Good food at a reasonable price within the old city walls. But, be careful ordering wine: we thought we were ordering a $24 bottle of vin nouveau that turned out to be $44. The waiter offered to correct the problem at his expense, but we declined. I would call this bait and switch. The sign on the wine rack that contained four different bottles of red wine and we ordered from listed prices: 1/4... plus
We came in here for convenience because it was attached to our hotel and after a long drive, it was the easiest option. This cracking bistro turned out to be an absolute gem. Good beer, moules frites, risotto, sugar pie. Friendly staff. The bistro was packed every night, mainly locals who all seemed to be having a good time. Loud,... plus
We had dinner and breakfast at this restaurant because it was near our hotel. The dinner was very good the pasta with smoked duck and the profiteroles were very tasty. The noise was a bit loud but the atmosphere was very friendly and the barman was sympathetic. We enjoyed both our meals and will return next time we are in... plus
Nice neighborhood bistro. Very friendly staff, very busy and quite a lot of noise, but quite comfortable overall.
6 different flavours, dare you to try them all. We went on a Tuesday I believe (I don't think they have this deal everyday).
Located at the end of rue St. Jean nearest to the Place d'Armes, this restaurant is an excellent combination of good service, tasty food well presented, and decent prices. Their special -- steak... plus

We found this by accident our first evening in Quebec, for which we had not made plans. It is like a real French neighborhood restaurant (well, except that it is city-scale in its dimensions and seating). Broad menu representative of local dishes and specialties, very reasonable prices, a bit noisy but the noise of an animated local place, not disturbing.... plus
Good menu selection - I had steak frittes which was very good, and food around me also looked good. Service was good and waiter was very friendly.
A very typical French bistro. We had lunch here as a break from walking the old city and watching the bike race. The steak frites were excellent as was the plate of chipolatas and frites. And we could watch the bike race going on outside and on the TV.
We always have dinner here our first night in town and have been doing so far many years. This year we noticed a little slip in food quality. Quebec lamb can be and usually is some of the very best and that is why we most always order it here. While the lamb was perfectly cooked it was a little tough compared to previous years. However, the fresh medley of vegetables of cauliflower, broccoli... plus
Located on the main street of old Quebec it is a popular restaurant with the locals. A little noisy because of it's popularity but the food is great! 5 women came to Quebec city, we came for dinner. We had to wait for a table, as it was 8-8:30 p.m. at night, but we leisurely walked rue St Jean until our table was ready, inside the restaurant. We were seated against a glass mirror, which gave a feeling of privacy. Our waiter was exceptional. They accommodated my garlic... plus
We stayed at the hotel that pretty much adjoins Les Freres de la Cote. The first time we went we popped into a table outside on a whim and just shared a half-liter of the Cabernet Sauvignon, which was nice. The food on the other diners' tables looked so good that we decided to go back for a meal the... plus
Pirates of the Coast as we were told, is the translation of Les Freres de la Cote, serves good food, with many choices of table d'hôte for a reasonable priced dinner (starter, main and dessert with coffee/tea). Not knowing the French language nor expression, one would never have guessed that it has anything to do with pirates, particularly when the... plus
I had the salmon filet for dinner and the steak fritites for lunch. Both times I thought the food was well prepared and reasonably priced compared to overpriced QC. My waiter at dinner provided excellent hospitality however the lunch server could have almost cared less. Like a previous reviewer noted, she was much more interested in the local crowd and... plus
The food was fairly priced for what it was, the pizza was pretty greasy and the portions were small. It had a tight outdoor space but the inside did seem roomier. Nothing to write home about
Not much to say about this place. Service inside was bad. It was recommended by our hotel for decent food at a decent price. My steak order came very late while my lady was waiting to eat. The service was bustling. We ate in doors next to the kitchen. The tables were very close. I felt that they knew we... plus
Busy restaurant with lively friendly atmosphere. I had the scallop/shrimp pasta meal and it was fantastic. The bartender was a very friendly woman who worked constantly but always was smiling. That was nice too!
Our family enjoyed dinner at the restaurant during our stay in Quebec City. We ordered two pizzas, the duck and a few garden salads. Everything was delicious (loved the salad dressing) but the service was definitely not great. The woman who served us was gruff and never cracked a smile. We didn't let it bother us but she could use... plus
Nice restaurant with very good pizza. The service was also very good. The night we were there it rained and we asked the waitress to call us a cab and it came immediately

My husband and I and our 17-year old daughter stopped at this restaurant our first evening in Quebec City because it was fairly close to the hotel. What a mistake that was! Given there are dozens of restaurants along here with a good ambience I have rated this only on the food - the French Onion soup was bland and cold. Pizza was low average. Not recommended -
Calamari was seared to perfection and the Suisse Pizza well balanced; to try something different, ordered the half titre of the house wine which turned out to be drinkable. On a cold and rainy evening we found this place, warm friendly and very enjoyable; the made us feel at home.
My meal the osco bucco was great. House wine by the glass is nicely priced. My friend, how ever ordered the lamb chops and the were awful. Bland and impossable to cut. She looked like she was using a saw just to get at the meat. Probably would not go again.
This place came on recommendation of a friend, so we decided to check it out. We wanted some place that was more relaxed, where we could still take our 8 year old but also enjoy good food and atmosphere. It fit our needs perfectly - I would say our expectations were exceeded. There was no kids menu, but the pizza... plus
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! Great spot for families and couples! The place was packed with people and there were lots of food choices with great price!
Four for breakfast with tax and tip: $57!
2 plates of bacon &eggs and 2 plates of french toast.
I find that pricey for for this meal...and it was no better than a $4.95 breakfast special at a greasy spoon.
We stayed 3 nights at L'Hotel Vieux de Quebec (sp?) on the first floor of which this restaurant is located. We hadn't planned to eat here, but ended up visiting twice:
The first time, we carried out a "Veggie" pizza to hold us over between our arrival and our late dinner reservation. We weren't really expecting much, but it was...

I went to the restaurant this morning, someone gave us a place and never came back. After 20 minutes waiting without anything, not even a glass of water, we left.
This is a pretty good restaurant adjacent to Hotel Le Vieux Quebec. Food is pretty good but tables are small and a little cramped.
The reviewer who commented on the lively bistro atmosphere and the lady who loved the moules et frites (mussels and fries) hot the nail on the head. Les Freres de la Cote is good food in a fun atmosphere, reasonably priced.
The staff was very nice and accommodating but the food was just okay and a bit overpriced for the portions. They didn't provide bread at the table and there were no kids menu. The tables are jammed pretty close together so you felt quite tight in a small space. I had the steak-frite. It came with a salad that had... plus
My husband and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night, didn't have a reservation but we were seated in 5 minutes. Very impressed as the place was packed. Great atmosphere. Having being a regular customer of Fréres de la Côte for over 15 years now my judgment may be biased ;). This place is adjacent to Hotel du Vieux Quebec and each night I ate there I was welcomed warmly with excellent service and tasty food. The Moules et Frites menu item allowed you to have as many Moules as you could manage - and the first bowl was enormous!

I went to eat at this restaurant for the second time. The prices are really good for this part of town and the food is excellent. I had a bouillabaise that left me astounded. The steak and fries was also very good. 5 thumbs up for this place.
For dinner tonight, we both had pasta but plan to return tomorrow to try other dishes. The menu offers more variety than many and the prices were slightly less than many other restaurants. Our server was quite young and very enthusiastic. His English was perfect. When we wanted to enjoy our wine before ordering he was perfectly content with that.... plus
Having just rated the hotel next door as Excellent, I can assure you that this review is very balanced.

We had lunch here during our trip to Quebec and both my wife and I ended up having a baguette with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and capers. The meal was delicious and the service was very quick. Very reasonably priced too.
We went in for lunch since it seems to be busy enough but not too crowded. Its menu contained good choices that were of interest to us as lunch choices, but limited to sandwiches. What a surprise! The waitress was nice and friendly. She explained the menu and specials since some of the write-ups were in French.
Food came promptly....

The decor is good, with walls decorated with brass musical instruments and a general ambience of people enjoying themselves in a popular restaurant. Service was among the quickest and most attentive I've seen in Quebec. Decided not to try the horse meat. One of us had a steak which was overdone - medium well done instead of medium rare. Not much to say about this place...other than it was fair. Had pasta and pizza. The pasta was meh and the pizza tasted okay, but was heavy.
The waiter was the bright spot. Friendly and helpful.
This place looks something between a restaurant and a bistro but won't offer the vibe of any of them completely. Everything including the food looks confused. The food is very salty and ultimately greasy. The beer selection is poor considering tons of micrebreweries that provide beer in Quebec.
My steak was dry and not tasty. The fries were great but to my surprise were served with salted...

My fiance and I had been walking around inside Old Quebec City for a while, and we were starving when we happened upon this restaurant.

Perfect place to hit after checking into our hotel, we took advantage of their 3 - 5 PM prix fixe menu. It's got a great location, on St Jean, nearing the heart of the old city. Our waiters were genial and pleasant (you'll find this to be the case throughout the city,... plus
Les Frères de la Côte offers a range of European dishes with French and Italian cuisine dominating the menu. Known best for their pizzas and pastas, this Saint-Jean-Baptiste restaurant also serves French picks like gigot d'agneau and coq au vin.
