The rooms were in great condition and very spacious. I even had access to a fridge and a microwave, which were useful time. There were no plates or utensils though.
Stayed here for one night while quickly visiting Ottawa. Wanted something cheaper. Dorm style rooms with small kitchen. Nothing fancy, but not much to complain about. Helpful staff. A short walk from the bus stop. Taking a taxi here from downtown will cost about 25$ though.
The complex is a university dorm so it is very utilitarian. If you are looking for a reasonable place to lay your head - and that's it...this will fit the bill. Close (next door) to a large mall so lots of amenities close by, good little grocery store/deli in the complex with good hours. Internet is wired so either bring a portable router (I travel with an Apple Airport Express for these... more
Nice place overall and good value for money but they need to make it clear this is a dormitory converted to hotel during the summer months. I suggest two things to fix: Make it clear this is on the campus of Algonquin College...it's difficult to find otherwise. Also, the new WiFi system doesn't work... need to fix ASAP.
I was very surprised and happy with our stay. Although it was about a 15 minute drive to downtown, it was well worth that minor inconvenience. The room was clean and the staff was pleasant and helpful. The only downside is that they do have wifi, but it was very unstable and bearly usable. I would definitely stay again during my next visit.
I got to the hotel very late but checking in was very easy. The front staff were very accomodating.
My experience could have been better. Downtown is too far. Had to take 2 buses. The building itself is a bit old. Otherwise, the staff was nice and helpful.
The only positive point I have from this hotel is the space, which is large. Further no Wi-Fi, a kitchen without any tools, cup , knives, spoon. A very noisy airco, even if you turn it off. made us move to other bedroom, which was a little quieter. Far from the center, but with buses you are able to travel. No close restaurants or you must like fast food.
college dorm style, stayed 1 night, quiet, beds alitte on the hard and uncomfortable . close to resturants.
For a place to crash for the night with the kids it was perfect.
We were happy for the 2 bedroom suite that was provided with common kitchen area. This suite provided more space for us than a typical motel room. There were some cosmetic needs in the suite, and some additional cleaning prior to guest arrival would have been better (i.e. carpet stains that were still sticky). Due to the little sign in the bathroom about water conservation and showing your... more
After reading other reviews, we decided to give this a try. Great price for Ottawa area. This is a college dorm on an active college campus - but that isn't a bad thing. Hard to find but spacious rooms, very clean. Our 2 Doubles were 2 separate bedrooms with double bed and desk in each. Third room had frig, microwave and table/chairs. Bathroom had shower. This is great if you are traveling with... more
This is a college residence and as such provides adequate accommodation at a very reasonable price in a good location. It was good to have a kitchen available to us but it would have been helpful to know that there was nothing in it except the fridge and microwave. Bring your own dishes, cutlery, kettle etc. The facility was quiet, clean and air conditioned. The parking was included once the... more
wifi and wired internet both are nearly not available. others are ok. .................................. also oko ok ok location is good. but address is not clear.
A bit out of downtown, but we weren't headed there so not an issue. Perfect for a family though, with two separate rooms and a kitchen. Price is right on
This is a student resident very poorly managed and poorly cleaned. We had bunch of hair from former guests on the floor and some on blankets. Price is moderate but for a little more one can get a three or four star hotel with major names. I think they should care more about their guests but they are care free students managing this place. Two thumbs down.
The room was clean, lots of room, had a full fridge and microwave. Eating area good size.
The Residence at the Algonquin was better than expected. It was a quiet, comfortable stay. The rooms were nice with the two separate units that had their own bed/tv/desk and door which allowed to be more private. Bathrooms were spacious and overall, staff was kind and helpful.
This is a collage dormitory that the collage use as hotel in summer time and they call it suites, which is way far from that. But if you only want it for sleeping than this is enough to do the job.
I had read the comments from people who have stayed here previously. They were not kidding when they said they had a hard time finding it. When I called to get directions, all they could tell me was that I was here but I still could not find my way. Expedia should offer detailed directions and the name should match what is on the building. I did not have high expectations based on the price of... more
It was not at all clear from the listing that this "hotel" was a college dormitory with no signage or directions given to find it on the college campus. I thought I had written the address incorrectly as I came to the college campus and there found no signs directing me to the "hotel". Once I found it, it was comfortable and, although the parking was free, it was rather far from the rooms.... more
My family visit this college residence every year to go to Calpyso Waterpark 30 mins away and Mount Cascades Waterpark 30 mins away. This college residence is great for family
Great if you know what to expect. Rooms we're clean and the staff was very friendly. Super close to lots of shops and food options in and around College Square. This is a student residence for Algonquin college NOT a typical conference centre so have that in mind when you book. Great, cheap stay for long duration stays, large groups, families or a quick place to stop in late at night.
First of all... Had no idea it was a college residence. That was not the problem. The tv did not work in the first room they gave us so they were accommodating by giving us a second room that did have working tv's, however the A/C did not work in the second room! Won't stay there again.
It is clean. I hope they remind people on the website to bring our own hair dryer.
Hard to find it, but the room was very good for its price.
No kettle no wireless wifi no breakfast no hair dryer or anything. Student residence n hard to find. Water is so small
i requested for early check. One day before i called and the operator told me if room is available you can check in but after 1 certainly you can check in. we went at 1.30 pm to check in there the receptionists did not allow us to check in saying not before 3.00 pm. i requested allow us to keep our belongings and eat our food we have to go out but not allowing. After explaining abiout telephone... more
It is a dorm for Algonquin College students, not a five star hotel. However, for very reasonable price you got a unit with two bed rooms, enough working area to prepare simple meal for kids, it is ideal for small family to attend events in this area e.g. it is near Napean Sportsplex.
The hotel is very accessible, great location and nice neighborhood. The rooms are not bad. No WiFi and no housekeeping services. The staff are very friendly, courteous and polite. The flow of the water in the shower is not strong enough.
I brought my 8 and 11 year old boys to Ottawa for a family vacation. We enjoyed our stay at ottawa west. The staff was helpful and friendly and th facility was clean and had everything we needed. It's walking distance from tim Hortons, lcbo and a big loblaws with clothes and prepared foods. You can get to anywhere in ottawa in 15 minutes from here. Definitely recommend and we will be back.
Girls on service desk were nice. Rooms was pretty good. But it looks like students during the study are smoking so I felt the smell. Was very difficult to find, we're driving back and forth few times, the building is off the street. Nothing to complain for place like campus. Comfortable with dog
Room/hotel was great. Anything you need is within walking distance. Super rates. The staff is not very knowledgable or helpful but friendly. The only thing I would recommend is more training for the staff
Came in very handy as we had Hospital and Doctors appointments and we were within minutes of the OC Public Transit.
This hotel suited our purposes just fine. We really only slept there, so it was fine for what we needed. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and when we needed an extra pillow, they jumped right to it (Better than some big chains I've stayed at). There is a large grocery store right next door, so we bought all our breakfast items there and just ate in the small kitchenette in the... more
Overall it was a good stay. The only thing that wasn't made available to us was a password for the internet. Other than that it was great. Good location!
great experience, clean, everything I needed, great location near mall and restaurants
Stayed here to run the Ottawa Marathon. This is essentially a college dorm room stay at a reasonable price. I find the 'hotel title' misleading. Having said that, it's fine for an overnight stay.
We stayed in this domitory for 3 days with our 4 years old son ) overall we like it, there is no wifi but just cable Internet, nice bedrooms, nice bathroom - it's worth its montey ))) close to highway and you can get easy everywhere you need (by car) - free parking on the territory
Staff was friendly but room was just a clean dorm room with good beds. 4 bus loads of school kids arrived after we checked in.
a short time trip, just for one night. The room is clean and tidy.
Cheap rate & convenience was a factor. Snack & variety store not always available.
Cheap.\n\nMajor sanding and painting going on in lobby during stay. Clouds of plaster dust, strong paint fumes, and major natural gas odor due to huge gas leak. Construction crew at university hit a gas line (just like the month before), making it unsafe to remove vehicle from parking area. Entire area was cordoned off, but guests were not told to avoid walking into gas cloud with lit... more
great value for the money\n\ndid not have wireless but does have plug in
Excellent value for the money - very friendly and helpful staff.\n\nMattress needs replacing.\n\nLove the biking trail which leads to downtown. Love the breakfast -all you can eat plus fruits, very happy with service.
Spacious, it had two rooms and kitchen.\n\nNO wireless INTERNET.
Great accommodations for the price.\n\nLong walk from room to parking lot.\n\nHotel is a college dormitory building. Room had two bedrooms kitchenette with full size refrigerator and microwave and bathroom with a shower. Not fancy but for us traveling with two dogs it was fine. Had it been later in the year and warmer, the lack of air conditioner would have been a concern. The staff was... more
