I visited the West End location yesterday. It doesn't have a cask, still it had 14 taps and was next door to the Riverhead brewery making for an efficient stop. Mostly local craft brews, including a couple small ones that would be very hard to get to. Great service and decent prices.
Decided to try for the first time after hearing good things, especially about the food. Boyfriend had the burger and fries, and I had the pulled pork sandwich with arugula salad on the side.
First off, the arugula salad served as a side is not the same one as described on the menu, and nowhere is this mentioned. Don't give...

Fantastic menu! Highly recommend trying the special of the day as it's usually delicious. I have been a few times and the food has never disappointed. I would rate higher but the service has been a little hit and miss though on my last visit I noticed marked improvement to the previous visit. However, being a new venture is not... more
Food quality ends being above what you might expect for the price. For a little "pub", the menu has always surprised me in terms of quality and creativity, and the price never feels like too much for what you get. The specials don't always hit the mark though; twice we have eaten and one of our group ordered one of... more
Attentive friendly service. Good selection of beers and wines. Food was not cheap but well prepared. Not your average pub fare. There is an upscale menu choice.
Great atmosphere. It was packed on a Friday after work and therefore quite loud. As the place emptied a bit , it became easier to have conversations at the table. Good food and good service.
Very average, run of thee mill eatery trying to be more special than its food, or atmosphere implies.
Had a chicken club that was dry and a side ceasar that had no bacon and very few croutons and an unremarkable dressing.
Meh...
Try the Thai House on Sydenham instead
So let me put this review in context. I was at the Red House shortly after they opened and it was excellent, went back last night with some friends for a brew and good food, and what a disappointment. I had a tasty and for starters had the sausage and cheese plate, none of which is made in house and... more
First, the pros: our server was attentive and friendly and made up for the kitchen's attitude, the beer was good.
The cons: our food left a bit to be desired. The special that night was a pork taco that sounded delicious, but was really underwhelming and also served cold, which wasn't mentioned. In fact, even the server didn't realize that...

My wife and I have just moved to Kingston and are fans of honest local pubs. My wife was told a few times by co_workers about the Redhouse. We loved it at the beginning because of the room and the beers of tap, but really the liquored up bartenders (umm... everyone knows thats not coffee coming out of the draft... more
Really like this place. Great local craft beer on tap. Cask beer as well. Food is tasty. Sometimes they have whisky tastings and beer tastings. Will return.
What a great find. We went to Kingston for the annual Christmas parade. I had heard about the Red House and sent them an email asking to reserve us a table for lunch. They responded quickly and we're ready for us when we arrived. The waitress was extremely kind to us and was extra nice to our 6 yr old.... more
A Great place, love the name! Wonderful job in creating this unique restaurant! A real flare for unique! Ate the most amazing olives with a wonderful on tap beer selection! A great Bar to stand or sit at! Large long elevated tables! Cozy tables also! Allergy aware! Wonderful homemade bread! Salad, pulled pork, chicken, creative menu! Desserts are unique! Would... more
I went here with friends upon their recommendation. Great interior, with gorgeous beams and stone walls. Great music playing with a healthy list of beers to choose from (I didn't check out the wine list).
The problem was my food. It was okay. I ordered the Cotechino Sausage main. The sausage (like a meatloaf made from sausage meat) was okay...

We came upon the Red House by chance but it was excellence that lured us back. Their lunchtime offerings are as good, wholesome, straight-forward, appealling, as their dinner items: Amherst Island lamb shanks; fresh trout on a bed of baby spinach are just two examples. Staff members seem to be perpetually in good humour, keen to make customers feel comfortable.... more
Pre-game visit for lunch and a beer, absolutely loved the fried chicken sandwich! Good selection of local & not so local beers, and a good atmosphere with pleasant staff.
I loved the idea of the Red House. I loved the stone walls, the cool interiors with hunks of wood and a substantial, rugged bar, and I especially loved the little bearded guys on their logo. How can you not love a bearded guy on a logo?
One little problem. The service is the pits. Oh, another little problem, the...

Found our way here for dinner and it was quite nice. Portions are not huge but we were happy. The food is better than the average pub food and the craft beers are great. Would certainly return to sample more of the menu.
This is a great spot. Heritage building with tons of character. Tons of beer. No labatts or molson's on tap (thank you!!). Some nice bottles as well. Didn't eat but the menu looked good. All staff friendly and attentive.
The first trip to Red House was for lunch and although the menu is small the variety is good.
We all enjoyed our food and our waiter was excellent.
Returned a few weeks later for dinner with a party of 12. Had a bit of a slow start but were all happy with our meals and drinks too!

Looks like somewhat of a hole in the wall, but was very impressed with interesting menu items and fair prices. Had a stew which was remarkably tasty. Server was helpful and efficient. Would definitely go back! We had a baby in a highchair and the server was happy to make room for us as well as being good with the... more
You won't find a finer tastier hamburger on the planet! Want a little upscale, go beef wellington but wear a bib because you will be drooling it is sooooo good.
We've been returning to the Red House since it went into operation. The waitresses are very friendly and remember us when we visit - quite an accomplishment, since we're not local. Food is well presented and absolutely delicious. We usually have the pulled pork on Navajo bread along with a side arugula salad, though last night I had the jerk... more
I've only been here for casual drinks with co-workers or friends but its a nice place for good conversation. The drinks are well priced and the beer is great!
We love this spot for a casual drink. My hubby is a beer connoisseur and he can always find something to satisfy his tastes.
The menu is quite limited, but every appetizer and entrée we've tried has been excellent and the prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of food.
The main area of the restaurant features a couple of...

Went to the Red House based on a friend's recommendation and reviews in TripAdvisor.
We both ordered as our mains... the Hamburger with a side. It took almost an hour for our burgers to show up and lo and behold they were cold. My side ordered was roast potatoes and poutine arrived instead. It took another 10 minutes for the...

To start, it is a beautiful pub. Solid wood, nice bar - nice atmosphere. A couple of issues - when seated in the back it's really dark. You can't read the blackboard menu above the cook so unsure what the specials were unless you get right up to it (I would suggest to this pub to shine a light on... more
I went here for the first time yesterday and I am disappointed I'm just trying this place now that I'm moving out of the city soon. I really enjoyed this restaurant as a whole. My friend and I sat at the bar and had a few drinks. I didn't know what to expect in terms of prices because it definitely... more
We were visiting family in Kingston and after visiting the Antique Open Air market we decided to try the Red House. It is gastro pub and the food and the vast selection of beers makes this a place to go to time and again. All of the food is locally soured an the local brews are done on site. What... more
We went here on May 24th for a bite to eat and some drinks. Given the hype I had heard about this place, I was a little disappointed. The appetizer sounded intriguing, but turned out to be chunks of cheese and sausage on top of a little arugula. The sandwiches had VERY soggy bottoms, making it nearly impossible to pick... more
The Red House used to be our regular hang out spot and we would frequent it at least once a week. Then out of no where when we had a larger group and ordered at least $500+ in food and drinks our waiter decided to treat us disgustingly.
Not only was he blatantly avoiding our table the entire night, even...

I just got back from lunch at the Red House and had to write about one of the best lunches I have had in a while.
Being a Friday we decided to drive downtown for lunch (even with all the construction happening on Princess Street).
The restauarant was fairly empty when we arrived at 12:01. We sat in the lower...

We visited the Red House for Mother's Day (6 in our group) and was very disappointed that the roasted chicken was a very small chicken thigh. This is a cut of meat that I would never consider buying due to dark meat, small and fatty. The menu should be more specific or the waitress should advise. I would have never... more
Decided to try this place as I've heard plenty of good things. It was Sunday night and we were one of two tables at first. Very quiet, very nice. The staff are extremely friendly, the drink list is great. However, the food is so far below average that I'll never order food from here again. I ordered the poutine and... more
Food was great and the atmosphere was warm enough to keep us around for another 5 hrs. It can be loud but that seemed to be partly due to how busy it was.
A great little place to kick back and listen to some good music. It can be a bit loud sometimes, but you get over it after a while... the crowd can be different, but still worth a visit for a little hole in the wall club
We stopped in Kingston for lunch on the way from Toronto to Montreal and happened to walk into the Red House.
The service was very good, and the sharing plate was delicious! Looked to be the pick of the bunch in Kingston!
The Red House is the best thing to happen to the Kingston pub food scene for quite a while. Run by three local brothers, it concentrates on good beer and good food, with an emphasis on the local. It's now my go-to place for out-of-town guests who want to relax with a beer and get something to eat. The thing... more
Have eaten at the Red House several times now. The food has been consistently good, though we do have our favourites - the trout on spinach and the ribs in particular. They also have one of the best hamburgers in town. Beer selection is broad with interesting specials. The decor is beautiful and won a renovation award. Can be very... more
The Red House is a relatively new pub in downtown Kingston in a restored limestone building that formerly housed a dry cleaner. Consistently busy, it has a great atmosphere. The menu is varied but the cassoulet for two we ordered was cold in the middle. They reheated it and comped us a dessert. On a Friday it is very busy... more
went to a friends birthday night. Decided to go early and try dinner with a few friends. All our food was hot, very tasty and prices were excellent. They tease you with great menu specials on facebook too. We will definitely be returning soon
Great decor, central to downtown. Service is quick and efficient. The food is not what you would expect from a pub. The food is expertly cooked and the options are very eclectic and delicious. Beer and food specials every day.
After leaving Montreal today and having had great dining experiences there, we wanted to have lunch around the middle of our trip to Toronto. Enter the Red House in Kingston! Construction was underway on King Street, but the workers actually escorted us to the restaurant! We decided to try poutine (Potatoes (in this case, fries) with beef gravy and cheese... more
When we go we sit in the back because it's more quiet. The place is cheerful, always packed with larger groups because the layout and setting allows that, so it's full of laughter and happy people. Food is very decent for pub fare. I especially like to limestone walls and wood, this speaks Kingstonian a lot! A place worth going... more
The burger is great. Fresh ground, cooked to medium. Buttermilk chicken sandwich is also wonderful. Lots of beers to choose from. Best burger in town.
Great atmosphere, great service and hands down the best hamburger in Kingston. A wonderful addition to the restaurant scene in Kingston. As some restaurants close new ones like Red House keep the downtown a great destination for lunch or dinner.
Wow! Couldn't wait to experience this little gem when it first opened. Late to review Red House but better late than never. What a fabulous space!! Enjoyed poutine & frosty beer on tap and believe me, few if any places in our fair city can make poutine....but these guys? AMAZING. It's a real treat of an establishment! Cheers!!
I don't know when this baby opened but it's a great addition to the restaurant scene in Kingston. Small menu, fresh food, well prepared. I had the trout and a glass of wine and enjoyed it immensely. The rum and eggnog creme brulee was tasty and would have been better if it wasn't chilled through. The service was friendly and... more
Me and some friends went for a birthday get together. They have great beers on tap and great food! The bar is great inside with big tables and stools. Staff was very helpfull
Thoroughly enjoyed relaxing and tasting the superb beers in the trendy bar but with an old-fashioned feel. Will definitely be back.
A casual and appealing atmosphere. The food is very good though not a huge menu. Worth checking out but not one I'd go to often because of the limited menu.
