Brit's fish and chips is great, we have been there on multiple occasions. I am not a fish lover even though I grew up in newfoundland. I do enjoy battered chicken and chips. the chicken was cooked perfectly and the batter was very nice. not to heavy not to thin. just right. My husband had the 1 piece cod and... more
First visit to Brits and ordered the 2 piece cod special with mushy peas.
Fish light and batter not too oily. Chips were nothing special and portion was underwhelming. Mushy peas were good but again portion was far too small. A true Brit likes to slather the peas over the chips and there was hardly enough to cover half the...

Just finished eating here. VERY expensive, only deep fried options - no pan fry etc. You order where you pay - no table service. Small piece if you order halibut (decent size for cod) had to go get our own ketchup & tarter sauce - didn't even bring that to the table. Very oily - plus tasted like oil hadn't... more
This great little restaurant does the best "fish and chips" in Canada. My wife and I have visited all the provinces and territories in Canada (except Nunavut) and had "fish and chips" in most of them - actually my wife has - I'm allergic to fish! For her the cod, haddock and halibut have always been fresh, moist and beautifully... more
Came into the restaurant to place my order-- well i"m sure if the cashier smiled her face would have cracked!! I thought it was me, but alas, no. She didnt smile at any of the customers that came in. Please smile-- it would make the day so much nicer!! I ordered my haddock and chips and then noticed there was... more
This Place is the best fish and chips joint I have visited in Edmonton. It costs slightly more than your average fast food joint but is well worth the extra for some authentic fish and chips that remind you of the coast.
We had planned to stop in here after being out of Edmonton all day and we were really looking forward to it. We put an order in for takeout at 5:15 after a smallish number of people arriving and putting in their orders. Everthing was fine and they took orders in to the dining room announcing '32', '33', etc but... more
Nice staff and always great fish and chips. We usually order the cod and order 2 than split the plate. We love it.
Absolutely disappointed with Pizza Hut recently. Earlier there was a very good quality pizza, a bit pricey, but delicious. I guess things change nowadays and even promos don't help. We ordered couple pizza (I took a picture of pepperoni and mushroom one). Seems like they ran out of stuff
I am a Brit from Northern England, the fish and chips here are as good if not better than some of the stuff I have had back home.
Don't listen to the complainers who go on about 'grease' this is fish and chips...AKA Deep fried food??!And fried to perfection in my opinion!
Will go again next time I am in...

Fish well done. It was nicely cooked, and the cooks clearly know how to deep fry - the food wasn't greasy at all, but lightly coated and heated, as expected.
We felt the prices were a bit high. If they were a little more reasonable we would probably visit the restaurant more often.
Staff was very friendly.
My wife and I have had fish and chips at a variety of locations in England, Canada and the US. Many of the North American ones fall short when it comes to producing crisp and flavourful meals. Brits produces the real stuff! The prices seem high, but two of us shared an order and it was easily enough. Don't waste... more
Overpriced, rude, disgusting fish, lukewarm beer, need I go on? I paid $36 for two pieces of soggy, mushy halibut, and some chips, and one beer that was supposedly draft form a keg that is barely refrigerated... anyway, just avoid this place!!!
Celiac warning. I was going to take my celiac son to the downtown location for fish and chips, but upon reading a few reviews I noticed that one mentioned they did gluten free deep fried Mars Bars. Mars Bars contain MALT which is on the No No list for Celiacs. I called and talked to a very helpful lady who... more
We had excellent fish and chips here. The prices are somewhat high, but the quality of the fish was excellent. The kids meals were a pretty good deal at $7, since they were practically the same portion as the one piece meal that I had that was $11. The fried pickles and onion rings were also excellent.
I tried Brit’s after hearing friends talk about how good it was, I wasn’t disappointed. The fish tasted very fresh and was nice and crisp. The fries were delicious and the service was friendly to boot. I haven’t been back since (it is not near where I live) but do intend to have it again sometime! The special imported drinks... more
Went in on a Saturday, quick service, food was excellent, had the haddock & chips. Guest had the cod, both were excellent.
I wouldn't bother with the take out at Brit's. Over priced, oily fish (so much oil that soaked through the paper) and obviously not using fresh oil given the state of the chips. And very dishonest in their serving - who advertises 8 pieces of fish with sides and then gives a choice of 4 sides where you get 1... more
You can visit here and have fabulous fish and chips (I'm a Brit!) or sometimes, you can get a greasy dis-appointment. Nice for a change but I don't make a habit and wish the quality was more consistent.
You want good and authentic fish and chips, Give Brits a try. Big portion sizes so come hungry or ready to share.
Waited over 45 minutes for a simple order of fish and chips. Would have walked out but they make you pay up front at this place. When we finally got our food, the kids found a lot of hair in their fries. To cap it off, the lights in the room consisted of 5 really bright bluish cfl bulbs in... more
We love fish and chips and Brits is the only place I've found that does gluten free. Menu is confusing and quite expensive. We have had some very good meals here but this last visit was not great. Fish was very greasy and coating was like wallpaper glue- this is very different than the previous visit in November when food... more
I'm BRITISH!!!!! I know what real fish n' chips looks and tastes like, and sadly this isn't it..... Disappointment to the British race. Lol
great food authentic surroundings great people hard to find but well worth the effort ,fish done the right way , my favorite , the best I have ever had.
I liked the selection of fish and serving size The food was hot and the staff very friendly. Nice quiet place away from malls and a person can enjoy each others company without talking loud..
It seems to be hit and miss with this place. Ate there a couple of months ago and the food was not its usual standard, even my kids commented that they needed to change the oil. Gave it another shot with visitors from the UK recently. The food was ok, freshly cooked good portion sizes but the attitude of the... more
most probably the best fish and chips this side of the pond, authentic, usually hard to get a seat but worth the wait to eat
I realize the brits love their fish and chips really greasy but what I got was literately swimming in grease. I wanted to try this place for so long being originally from the coast I love fish, but I couldn't finish the meal... there was just too much grease. Place is like someone's house, not really restaurant feeling.
We went here for lunch today, Sunday. Arrived at 12:30, restaurant was not busy, ordered our meal at the counter, and then had our choice of tables. Food arrived very promptly, friendly service. The food was outstanding, we had the fries and dressing, Calamari meal, and 2 piece fish and chips. Everything was super hot, crispy and not too greasy.... more
We've eaten here twice now and it never seems to get any better. You pay before you go and sit down which isn't really a big deal but the prices are a tad outrageous especially for the food you receive: which comes in melted Subway baskets. If you order the fountain pop you are provided with very particular and small... more
This only got four stars out of five due to the decor. The carpet seriously needs to be replaced, but the food is fantastic!
Great fish N Chips. Nice people that treat you well.
Who would have thought I would be able to enjoy truly great fish and chips again with celiac? When I heard about Brit's, my husband and I drove three hours to try it. It was SO worth it. Posted prevalently was a sign announcing the gluten-free batter. Not only that but they also have a dedicated gluten-free fryer. Additionally, most... more
Coming from Australia I love a good feed of fish n chips, this is a step above most around here but you will pay for it! generally not too bad.
Has the feel of a real English chippie. Great fish. Everything is freashly fried. Try the deep fried Mars Bar. They are to die for.
yes, tbe food is cooked fresh and this is the closest tastiest to the great briitish meal you will get. u gotta go!
Not fancy, not quiet, not very comfortable chairs. But none of that matters as the food you order at the counter is brought to your table so hot you cannot touch it and with a smile on the servers face. The outside of the fish is crispy beyond belief and the inside has tender, moist, perfectly cooked white fish. You... more
When first opened, Brits was a great place to have traditonal fish and chips as the owner, from Britian, would be cooking. Now that different staff have taken over, the fish is not as good as it was before.
I often get take out here and always forget how big the portions are! Their fish is fantastic. Chips are home fries. Their mushy peas are not the greatest, but this is a small exception to all the other delicious stuff.
If you like fish and chips, this is the place to get it. The food is superbly prepared, although once, the fish was a little over crispy, but that was only a rare occasion. The portions are huge so dont go unless very hungry. A good assortment of seafood choices. So if you have a deep fry craving, this is... more
In here the other day and the food was bland and greasy, the service slow. Won't be back for quite a while.
Very busy, very rushed, and I found the food overly greasy. The fries and the fish. I am comparing to Moby Dick in Whiterock BC and Brits has a lot of work to do to get to that quality.
The restaurant was a bit dirty in the areas of floors and walls. Nothing but deep fryer oil taste. Back Home is way better.
I'm a Brit and love the authentic taste of this place, on visiting relatives in Charlottetown I found another Brits - SO HAPPY you guys have it nailed well done!
I had heard great things about this place so I wanted to try the fish n chips. I had the one piece of fish and chips and I found it very greasy and left me feeling unwell. There was a short wait for the food but the service isn't anything great. I won't be back.
The fish and chips with dressing and gravy was excellent but unfortunately the good food was overshadowed by a rude, unfriendly women at the front desk. From the moment we arrived and walked in I noted the unsmiley sour looking women at the front. She took our order and seemed annoyed that she had too. This same women came to... more
Were recommended by someone in Sherwood Park when the Bell & Court was closing down. However, we went to Brit's ona Monday evening and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. We had the Cod and the Halibut with chips and onion rings. EVERYTHING was so greasy that that is all you could taste. The Halibut was a... more
Seriously, one of my favorite places. The fish is simply divine and always fresh. They actually imported the deep-fryers from England, so you know you're getting authentic stuff. Similarly, the chips are way better than the c@!p you get at most places. The servers are always friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. Also, be sure to finish off... more
The fish was far from the best I've ever had. It was very greasy. The chips were greasy and lacked any flavor. The tarter sauce was way too runny. The lady at the front till was very rude. I would go to Billingsgate for their fish over this place any day.
Best fish and chips in town
A part of the Brewsters chain, this brewery and restaurant offers a pleasant ambience to hang out with friends and relish some enjoyable steaks, pastas and burgers. The beer is handcrafted and is a trademark with popular varieties like the golden colored Rivercity Raspberry ale or the original Wild West Wheat Ale that is crisp in texture and served with a lemon. Sip into the chilled drink and... more
They also have another location at 6940 - 77 Street in Edmonton.
