Ideally located on the tranquil waters of the east coast of Vancouver Island, Pacific Shores Resort & Spa offers an island escape to soothe your soul and ease your spirit
Pacific Shores is a large timeshare development perched above a half-mile of waterfront in a grove of arbutus and fir trees -- this marvelous location, plus a wide range of room types, make this a good lodging choice for a relaxing getaway. Accommodations include basic hotel-style units or large suites with up to two bedrooms, a kitchen, fireplaces, a balcony, and two bathrooms, one with a... more
It was the girl friends b-day. Arrived early booked in added roses and her favorite flowers, chocolate, wine and set the music with the fire place on. Dined at the smoke n water under the fish tank. Took her to the room which was amazing. Best place ever.
Rude staff, no wifi, poor service in restaurant....... more
Everything was exactly as advertised, and though the facility is showing some signs of wear, the owners, Strata, timeshare and fractional are working on completing updates to repair the leaking parking garage, and minor problems with the rooms. Restaurant was disappointing, but there are many within a few kilometers, especially Cuckoos in Coombs, which is worth the drive.
Check-in and out went smooth. The underground parking has leaks that come from the overhead concrete that definitely can stain your vehicle and will be difficult to get off. There are a lot of cracks in the ceiling and you can see the chemical-mineral build up, so it is necessary to be careful where you park. The room was very nice. Stylish and comfortable. There are pleasant outdoor hot tubs.... more
Rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. Had a wonderful view of the water where we had only booked a partial view room. Bathroom soaker tub was great treat after a cold day on the golf course. Would definitely recommend and stay at Pacific Shores again!
I purchased a room with an ocean view at a higher price and found it was dark with glimpses of the water through trees and bushes. No available change as most of the view rooms were owned units. Very very disappointing.
Everything was good till the breaker blew when we tried to use the microwave at 1130pm. There is no one working the front desk after 10pm so we called their emergency number and got ahold of their security guy who didn't know where the breaker box was. He finally figured out an hour later that the breaker box was in the room next to us but since there was someone staying in that room they... more
Beautiful place to stay, watch the tide go in and out from your window! Rooms were spacious with lots of extra towels etc. Furniture was up to date, and housekeeping staff went out of there way to help with anything. Out door hot tubs were a special treat at night time when things cooled off. Restaurant was excellent, food was delicious and had lots of choices. Beautiful aquarium in the center... more
A very utilitarian room and a little off the beaten path.
This was by far the absolute worst stay I have had anywhere...ranging from incompetent hotel staff, non working appliances, the parade ruined my car paint ....I could go on endlessly . I will do everything in my power to spread this horrid experience by word of mouth.
We stopped here for one night to break up our journey to Ucluelet. This is probably a family resort & as such we found it a bit noisy. The pools were full of kids etc so hard for adults to find a little quiet space. Probably great for families just not for adult couples (or for us anyway).
We stayed...

We stayed for a week in July/14 with an RCI exchange. They only had a 1 bedroom available with no kitchen. Well I know we have had bigger rooms at the Holiday Inn. No air conditioning, just two fans running all night. The deck we had to sit outside on was like sitting in a closet. Their so called grocery... more
This is the second year we have arrived since the management "changeover". The email brochure looks great. The reality not so much.
Once again, even though we arrived at 3:45pm for a 4:00pm check in the room was not ready. Staff problems. Nor was the much vaunted "grotto" outdoor hot tub available. Enquiries revealed it had been out of action...

We stayed here for a wedding. I'll start with the good: the rooms are amazing, clean, great view and restaurant has amazing food. (The wedding was a perfect location I might add). Restaurant is separately owned and you can tell. We spoke to the chef/owner on multiple occasions & the care & effort he puts in is amazing. Kudos to... more
We thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at Pacific Shores through an RCI exchange. We stayed in unit 521A which was a one bedroom waterfront unit. The unit was spacious with a well equipped kitchen. We had a wall of windows overlooking the bay in both the bedroom and living room! We also had two balconies which we enjoyed each evening,... more
We just spent 3 days at Pacific Shores resort. The pros, we found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the grounds and location are great, rooms are clean, nice. The cons, very noisy when people are staying over you or around you, thin walls. The room we were in was dark as it is set back between the higher... more
We've been to this resort multiple times over the years, and during our most recent stays in the the past year or two, we have seen the units, grounds and amenities go downhill. Our two bedroom unit on this particular stay was lacking in cleanliness on arrival, and in need of maintenance in several areas. There was significant water damage... more
Stayed here via RCI exchange ,wonderful ocean view from spacious 2 bed condo ,very clean well appointed but kitchen a little tired ,however this does not detract from over all stay .Staff helpful at check in ,and a couple of maintenance issues were dealt with superbly ,the grounds were wonderful with scenic views if the ocean ,beautiful sunsets !Location good... more
My family enjoyed this resort. It was a quiet vacation which was good for little ones. The gardens were lovely. This resort is in the midst of being refurbished and so some of the amenities were not in service. The play structure and the kids pool were not in service. Otherwise, there were 2 lovely hot tubs (one on the... more
Beautiful and clean facility with exceptional staff. The resort recently went through restructuring and the new management and staff do a great deal to ensure the facility is clean and welcoming, thank you for making our week on Vancouver Island special
Pacific Shores has had its issues over the past several years due to prior management insolvency, however all that is all in the past and the property appears to be back to normal operations with an excellent staff.
Yes it is a family resort, however, having stayed in the past a number of time with my family (adult children) I...

Used RCI and stayed for a week. Was pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. Spacious and clean, plenty of room in the one bedroom for four people. Too bad the mineral pools weren't opened but we stayed busy touring around the island. Appreciated the mid week room cleaning. Yes you can hear your neighbors through the walls but it wasn't bothersome.... more
Due to a mix-up (mine, not theirs), the manager was called upon. We received tremendous service and support and the two-bedroom suite we were given was beyond what we'd hoped for. I cannot say enough about the friendly and professional staff. The manager did everything in her power to make our stay a success.
We stayed for 6 days in a 1 bedroom room suite. Pacific Shores Resort is located "off the beaten path" on the spectacular Craig Bay near Parksville BC. All of the amenities were above average with a nice full service kitchen The staff was extraordinary in their concern for our well being! Megan and Ajit were excellent people oriented employees... more
Our stay was ridiculously bad. From the unclean room to the unfriendly female blond manager at the front desk. Maybe investing in a few ice machines might be a consideration for a resort this size as well, instead of hitting people up for a $1 to buy a ziplock bag of ice from them. We never saw a housekeeper for... more
I do not usually write reviews but our stay at Pacific Shores in May 24-31, 2014 was exceptional. Our unit was 413ab. Let me explain. 413a is a one bedroom, very nice with plenty of room (maybe about 1100 sq. ft.). 413b is a a studio lockout. So 413ab is the two units with the locket open. Together they make... more
My baby sister came all the way up from North Dakota to have a wedding ceremony and photos with out family...first time the family has been together in 10 years. My brother in law booked a room at the resort as a surprise honeymoon. They ended up with a room with a view of the parking lot, which would have... more
The location is a dream, the king size bed was very comfortable and the bedding crisp and cool. The 4 PM check in time was not good for our planning. The junior suit we were in was dark, like a cave with the only window on the far end. The unit was set back between 2 others so both sides... more
this establishment has just undergone a redo and let me tell you, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL. The rooms are fabulous and the restaurant is to die for. The manger could not do enough and i would recommend this resort to anyone.
Stayed here June 8-15th, 2014. Made the mistake of getting just a 1 bedroom, 615b. It was like a cave. Hardly any sun light. When ordering a room, get at least a 1 bedroom suite. We had no kitchen facilities except microwave and a toaster. Had to convince the front desk that we needed a coffee pot to actually brew... more
Last week, my fiancée and I decided to do a last minute day trip to Victoria and on our way back decided to stop at the Landing at Pacific Shores for dinner on our way back. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for renovations and apparently has since re-opened. It was a gorgeous evening and we were craving a swim and... more
Two couples travelling together, we exchanged our week with rci into this resort. All furnishings comfortable and modern. Second bedroom large including sofa, small refrigerator, coffee maker and as main bathroom is next... more
We arranged our seven day stay through RCI after spending an afternoon and evening in Victoria while on an Alaska cruise several years ago. We thought Victoria and the gardens were great and wanted to see more of the Island. What a great decision that was. We stayed at the Pacific Shores Resort and that was perfect. Our unit was... more
We stayed at Pacific Shores Resort in Parksville BC the first week of April. There were 4 adults and 2 children. Right off the bat I need to say this is one of the best family vacations we have ever taken and most of it had to do with the accommodations and the area. We chose this resort because it... more
Used RCI Points. Paid extra points for room to accommodate three people. Upon arrival, provided with a room with no windows and a patio door opening under a stairway. Furniture and carpet appeared to have been retrieved from local dump. Three people could not move around much less stay there. I complained. Moved to a room up above and still... more
A 5 night stay with friends in a two bedroom suite was great. Travelling the area and seeing the sights, we enjoyed our stay.
The front desk was helpful and gave us good hints of where we could eat and potential activities in the area.
It was a good stay!
Used RCI points and got a 2 bedroom room overlooking the bay. Loved it!
The check in was quick easy and smooth.
Loved the BBQ area.
The spa service was excellent. Had a massage.
All the staff no matter where we met them were always helpful!
A perfect little hideaway, it's almost as if you have you're own holiday home. The rooms are plush and comfy, although a little quirky in terms of which items/services are provided and which are not.
Although never visiting the fitness centre, we did thoroughly enjoy the BBQ area and hot tub right on the peninsula. The view there was spectacular,...

This is the second time that we stayed at this resort and it will not be the last. (We booked again for a week in October) We stayed in a studio unit for one week. It was located in the main building on the third floor. We also had an underground parking spot. The only odd thing was to get... more
Flew from Toronto with my family to this nice place . At the check In, the resort desk staff were very helpful to deal with a reservation error with RCI. Just wanted to say we had a fantastic time at the resort. The staff were eager to help! Our little kiddos had lots of room to play inside the room when it rained in our one bedroom. My husband & I are enjoying a relaxing week here. The grounds are beautifully landscaped & we have a fabulous view from our dining, living & master bedroom. We reserved a 2 bdrms thru RCI. Check in was smooth and quick. The rooms were in #700 bldg on the main flr. Heard fr past reviews that RCI exchanged dont get the best view and that was true with us. It is hard to appreciate the ocean view as all we had on main flr was shrubs and trees.... more
We went to celebrate our 56th Anniversary and stayed for a week. The staff could not have been more helpful, the unit that we had was exceptional, spacious, clean and very quiet and relaxing. We will definitely stay there again.Again, many thanks to all the staff for a very enjoyable stay.
We recently stayed at the Pacific Shores for a week on an RCI exchange – the property is still as beautiful as our last stay but some things have changed as indicated in other reviews.
I don’t know if it is because the property is in receivership and being managed by a management company that the hot tub by the...

Stayed here by way of an RCI exchange. New management on property has made improvements, such as better wifi. The facility is very clean and has ample supplies, such as in the kitchen. Some of the furnishings still need to be upgraded but there is a plan in place to bring it all up to Gold Crown status. The setting... more
The resort seems nice but to be honest we didn’t stay one night of our week long vacation in it. The room that was booked for us was a hotel type room below ground and it was dark and very uninviting. We were expecting a room with some kitchen amenities and living comforts. Two of the biggest issues for us were the bathroom was only Shower, toilet and sink, and it was in the front foyer of a... more
It was a fun-filled quiet stay. The rooms were fantastic, whith scenic views of Nanoose Bay. The amenities which included kayaking, an indoor pool with a hot tub, and an outdoor kiddies pool, with 2 hot tubs and a mineral pool, was fantastic. The area weas covered with a lot of exotic plants and flowers. BBQ grills which are located near the condos was neat as well.

I was seating online for resort in the Parksville area when I came across Pacific Shores. I was impressed with their prices especially over the Valentines Day weekend when prices seem to go up. Our room at the resort was pleasant, although the walls were thin. A family moved into the suite adjacent to us. The noise from the kids was very audible and the parents' voices was also noticeable. We reserved our two bedroom unit through our timeshare company, Vacations Internationale for early February. We were very pleased with our unit in the 700 building. this used to be the best resort on Vancouver Island but now it is a colossal disappointment. Nothing is working at this resort. Be wary booking through Trading Places if you are an owner. If you are NOT yet an owner, don't buy in here. The new management company, who seems to be in command of a great deal of this resort and is supposed to be looking after the interests of the owners, leaves a lot to be desired. Would not let... more
We are weeks owners and traded a week of our timeshare to stay here- we looked at our options and decided to get a two bedroom. Basically it's a one bedroom suite that connects to the hotel suite. The hotel suite is pretty small, and the one bedroom is way bigger and nicer. The one bedroom part has a tub,... more
My son and I stayed at this accomodation in late August as we were down in that area for a wedding. The hotel was pristine. Clean, quiet, large accomodations, wonderful ammenities and friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay here greatly and will defintely stay again.
I always go here during the off season so I can visit the local spa destinations. Quiet trails to walk, ocean front paths, restaurant on site offers daily specials, Friday spa deal was a massage and pedi for just over $100! Make sure you book in at the Tigh-Na-Mara Grotto spa 5 minutes away for the dip & dine special... more
We did not have high expectations coming here as we were visiting in the colder months, redeeming a groupon deal and had read reviews regarding the management/bankruptcy issues but all in all, it was a fabulous resort. Staff were very nice. Our room (1bdrm suite with full kitchen + 1 guest room-adjoining) was nicely furnished, well maintained and both had... more
I have been going to pacific shores for many years and I am never disappointed with the quality.
For me ...being a time share owner it allows me frequent access to probably the best resort in BC.
Luxury and solitude with the gentle breeze of the ocean at a reasonable price. I am very pleased with my stay during Xmas.
We went with another couple to this resort and each had a 1 bedroom luxury suite and they did not disappoint. The rooms are spacious, fully equipped with everything you could want even if you were cooking in your room. Despite the fact that it was almost winter, the grounds were well kept. The outdoor hot tub was amazing as... more
We have visited here several times over the past few years. There have been issues with Management and a dispute that has hurt the resort and they have received some poor reviews. We enjoyed a 3 night stay at the beginning of November. We stayed in a very spacious 1 bedroom condo that was fully furnished including washer & dryer.
