My favourite pancake has a home and it's at 1128 Queen Street East. Hot off the grill and topped with fresh whipped butter, the big fluffy wonders at Okay Okay Diner give any flapjack operation a serious run for their money. With a side of maple syrup and infused with either bananas or blueberries, the pancakes are among the star attractions at this popular Leslieville hang-out which oozes... more
Although slightly refurbished, OK x 2 retains its retro diner feel. They even have the sliding glass door cooler behind the counter, straight out of your high school cafeteria. Antique TVs are perched above for viewing pleasure. Original Leslieville locals, older married couples and friends get their fill. Lone diners sidle up on the chocolate brown stools and talk to the cook. Don't feel like... more
Went to other spots in Leslieville, highly recommended but loud, and too hipster. Okay okay defies that. The food, pancakes my kids loved, standards of fried egg and ham sandwich, well with it. I had the huevos with jalepenos; just enough kick in the a.m.. It's not the decor, it's the people, good service and the bonus.... Great coffee! If... more
We enjoyed the outdoor patio for Sunday morning brunch; great location for browsing on Queen Street East. The food should have been delicious --Eggs Brunhilde (poached eggs on hash browns with asparagus and smoked salmon) and Heuvos Rancheros (Mexican omelette burrito) -- but the food was cold when it arrived! Service was good but slow -- maybe that's why the... more
What an awesome gem in Leslieville! My party of 3 has one guest who suffers with Celiac and has to be pretty careful about where and what she eats. She was thrilled with the Eggs Beatrice (Veg) as it is served on hash brown patties (as are all the poached egg Benedict options) and had home made Bearnaise sauce that... more
This is a friendly little diner in the up-and-coming Leslieville area. It has a small, tight menu with items like 'Chocolate Elvis', huevos and more. I have eaten here numerous times with my wife, also with work pals. My fave is their Cobb salad. Its a smallish kinda' place, so weekend brunch will be crowded. That will only become more... more
Our family has an unofficial list of restaurants we will consider our favourites. This is one of them. It is a very unassuming little neighbourhood place. I had the Velvet Elvis - delicious! My boyfriend had the burger - quite good - with yummy fries.
I would say it is a breakfast/lunch place and I imagine very busy on a...

Red vinyl and stainless steel stools lined up in front of the counter. Cozy booths along one wall. This is a perfect old style diner with an updated menu. Simple food made really well from fresh ingredients. Love the Velvet Elvis which is crunchy peanut butter and bananas on cinnamon dusted French Toast. Like the atmosphere and excellent service.
My husband and I had a salmon-based eggs benedict which was amazing. It's clean and friendly with an open kitchen style. Feels like an updated cool diner. The coffee was OK and bottomless.
Pros: laid back, unpretentious atmosphere; predictable comfort food; nice patio
Cons: food is just average, service is spotty, not the cleanest
The name says it all-- it's okay... but nothing special. My burger was fine but unexciting. The fries were greasy and limp. The salad was disappointing-- lettuce too big to eat without cutting, very bottled-tasting dressing, boring ingredients. My...

Small place with limited brunch options but the French Toast (with coulis) was great. As Leslieville gets hipper, this place will get busier, so if you want a booth get there early.
