I have to say, this restaurant was hyped quite a bit to me. The commercials, reviews on other sites, and even comments from friends and family.
I went for lunch and I left completely unimpressed.
First, I think the restaurant takes itself way to seriously. It's in the middle of a business park - some of its neighbours include Costco, Swiss Chalet, and Selloffvacations.com. It's hard to be upscale in that environment.
The servers were dressed to the nines, mostly in short skirts, low-cut tops, and pumps. I'm sure the eye candy helps sales a bit, but it's too bad they focus on looks rather than ability. Our server was inattentive and actually fairly rude near the end of the meal. It wasn't busy at all, and we barely asked for anything - definitely nothing out of the ordinary.
The atmosphere is upscale. The bathrooms are insanely gorgeous. The decor is quite nice. I just couldn't shake the feeling that it was all a bit too much though. If this place was tucked into a nice location downtown, and the building had actual character, I think it would be a lot better... This location is just too new and "created." Fake, I guess.
This would all be moot if the food blew me away, but it really didn't. I couldn't believe the prices we were paying for the food that was in front of us. Absolutely ridiculous. Maybe some of the fancier dinner entrees are worth the crazy cash, but believe me most of the menu is not.
I'll give Moxie's three stars, only because it is trying to change the chain restaurant landscape a bit. I just feel people are flocking to this place because they feel fancy eating there and can brag that they blew a bunch of money at Moxie's rather than Jack Astor's. To me, they're all the same. They're mostly c@!p.
We first experienced Moxie's almost 15 years ago in BC, and we were so pleased when one opened in Dartmouth Crossing. We are always welcomed and treated as valued guests. The food is fantastic! And the drinks are professionally made!
We dined for our anniversary this week and truly enjoyed the mohitos and margaritas with an appetizer of Potstickers. That...

We went to Moxie's for lunch and had a great experience. What stood out was the quality of the service from everyone. Our server was friendly, attentivie, and appeared at the right time. The hostess were polite and engaging. What stood out was that the manager came to our table to let one of our friends know that their special... more
Nicely located restaurant for business purposes. I'm never disappointed in the food choices, and they generally have a decent daily special - as opposed to the tired old soup and sandwich.
The quality, overall is good, and well presented. The wait-staff are attentive; and, at lunchtime at least, although always busy; noise levels, are low enough that conversation is possible...

Tried the rib/chicken combo. Loved the ribs. they had a sweet tangy taste. The chicken had a chipotle spice and a bit of a kick to it.
I had heard a lot of good things about Moxie's prior to going for the first time, but when I finally gave it a go...it wasn't anything to write home about.
For starters the atmosphere definitley caters to a young crowd, and there isn't anything wrong with that, it's just a fact. With lots of pretty waitresses working the room...

We came here for lunch. The restaurant is very modern and chique. I've been here many times and enjoy it. The enchiladas are super yummy !! The spinach dip is amazing as well. Nice place to come with friends or for a date night.
If you're looking for a cheap meal, this isn't the place; but, if you want to treat yourself to something a little special, give it a try. The food is delicious and the menu is varied. The decor is trendy and modern.
I have eaten here several times since they opened and I find it is always the same deal. The food is quite good. I really enjoyed my beef dip sandwich and soup on my most recent visit. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has lovely decor. The service, however, is consistently subpar. I have been disappointed with the service every... more
Best steak I've ever eaten was at Moxie's in Dartmouth Crossing. I find it a bit expensive, but it's worth the treat.
This was my second visit to this restaurant and it was a great experience. The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming as were the staff. the ambiance was very modern even the bathroom. There was a wide variety to choose from on the menu. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Not only was the wait-staff rude when she incorrectly gave us a bill for over $160 bucks, but lunch was very unappetizin, borderland disgusting! Within hours of eating lunch, I spent the next several hours in the bathroom sick! Never will eat there again!!!!
Have eaten here several times in past. Nice selection of meals on the menu and the ambiance is classy. Service can be a little slow when it's busy but staff is very friendly and courteous. The Vindaloo Beef is my favorite! Recommended!
I've patroness Moxies many times, since opening years ago, with clients, co-workers & friends. The ambiance is casual & classy and is a higher-end dining experience without being 'stuffy'. Food selections are plenty and servers are accommodating with changes to menu items, to suit your tastebuds or diet constraints (ie: Gluten-free option suggestions; msg-free, etc).
Price-points are similar to...

Moxie's is a tricky place to get to if you are not accustomed to Dartmouth Crossing, but is definitely worth the drive. Lots of variety in very chic surroundings. Everything we have had has been excellent, and the wait staff have been delightful. Not a cheap meal, but good value and not overly extravagant. Great place to celebrate a special... more
Went to Moxie's for dinner at 7pm on a Friday. Place was pretty busy but did not have to wait. Service was great. Fast, friendly and efficient. Ordered the asian salad, it was delicious with a nice white wine (Riesling). Had the mini sticky pudding for dessert, it was lovely and the portion size just perfect for me.
The service was excellent. When you travel with children they need to be the CENTER of attention and there needs and wants must be #1. Jessica was all that and a bag of chips. Making sure our drinks were kept full and fresh, ensuring things were comfortable for everyone as well as paying that little extra attention to the children... more
Stopped in for lunch several times. Great menu, lots of choices. Great wait staff, who are always helpful, especially with food allegories.
I stop in every time that I am in Dartmouth.
Great atmosphere with healthy choices.
Ok, so I'm on business in Dartmouth and we went to Moxie's Classic Grill for lunch. Now first off, it's a beautiful restaurant and the ambience is very business professional. The wait staff is attentive and friendly so I really have no objections there. It's an impressive restaurant.
Now, I can only comment on the lunch that I had and...

Popped into Moxie's on Sat 25th while out shopping with my husband and daughter, it was an unplanned visit and we just fancied "a burger somewhere" we saw Moxie's up on the hill and decided it was the closest. As soon as we walked in we thought "oh no we're underdressed", the décor was fantastic and the staff made us... more
WE went here for lunch the other day and what a taste experience it was ! My husband had a gumbo soup which exceeded all his expectations..I had a chicken parm. sandwich which was a taste experience. The ceasar salad was fresh but could have used some imagination, but on the whole we were delighted and will be returning!
We tend to go to Moxie's mid afternoon - quite often before heading to a late matinee at the nearby movie theatre, or sometimes after an early matinee. Or just after shopping. We usually share 2 or 3 lovely appetizers (and I think that's what they're best at), and the lunch menu options are pretty decent as well. Last time... more
ate here some time ago and will not go back. if you can not make mashed potatoes without screwing them up, you shouldn't be in a kitchen. We had a party of 4 and not one of us enjoyed our over priced meal.
My husband and I visited a few months ago and had a nice experience seated in the main restaurant. This time we were visiting with our daughter and granddaughter and what a difference! Although the main restaurant was not full, we were seated in a small booth between the Kitchen and walk-through for the washrooms and Bar area, as were... more
First time going. Service above average, food really good. Had the blacked chicken burger and a Caesar salad (both rocked) and my wife is still talking about her great Broccoli and cheddar soup with quesadilla chicken. Fantastic décor throughout (even the washrooms have flat screen tvs and a fireplace. We had just dropped in for a quick bite after shopping,... more
We had never eaten at a Moxie's and were very impressed. The food was excellent and the service couldn't have been better. We were seated in a quiet booth and after a long day it was very relaxing.
We were staying down the road so wanted to eat at Dartmouth Crossing and the online menu had a great selection so we headed there. We arrived around 8:00 on a Thursday and had no problem getting a table in the dining room area. (There is also a bar / lounge area on the other side.) Server was helpful with... more
I heard lots about this place before I visited; however, it didn't meet my expectations. It wasn't bad, but I had better meals. The atmosphere is amazing, but nothing special about the food. Don't think I'll go again.
This seems to be the hip and cool place to eat/drink on a Friday/Saturday night. It's trendy and loud and the drinks flow. The food is pretty good, the drink menu is varied, and it's a fun place to hang out.
We visited Moxies Oct 5th for supper
We were seated at an excellent booth in the restaurant section.
Our server Marcel was very pleasant and attentive
We both had the Top Sirloin and it was done to perfection
The house wine selection was very good as well. Light and crispy
Will return

We ate here on two occasions as it was a short distance (20 minutes walk) from the Best Western Dartmouth hotel where we were staying.

An impromptu get together ended up being a lot of fun. Showed up on a Friday night but was surprised they were not that busy. Moxie's has a lovely décor and very attentive hosts will greet you. Once inside the service is mediocre. Worst organized business ever. After driving 16 hrs to be there for my friends wedding. And going out for her bachelorette, we went to moxies. Needless to say I don't think they had anything. I took my 10 year old daughter here for a mother/daughter date night. We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday night and the place was packed and there was a 20 minute wait for a table. We didn't mind, and it was worth the wait. It was a great evening out.
Staff are very friendly and attentive. Even during a busy lunch hour, service was excellent.
Menu is a mix of classics and new, stylized meals. Everthing was delicious. Basil mayo was tasty with the french fries. Dessert was delicious. Kids menu available.
There is a dining sectiona nd bar section, although meals and drinks are available in both.

The food was very good.
There is a good selection on their menu.
The restaurant is well located in Dartmouth, being close to the shopping area of town.
The service was very good and friendly.
I've been here a couple times, it is fancy, but not uncomfortable fancy. The prices are on the high side, but the food is pretty good & I find the service very friendly. I don't recommend going in a tight black dress or you might get confused with the waitresses, but I definitely recommend going!
went for a brunch date with my sister, everything was awesome right down to the orange juice which seemed to be freshly squeezed. very nicely decorated and comfortable areas for whatever type of group you are with
I havent been in the restaurant for a few years, but the bar is a great spot for a beer before a movie. The waitresses are friendly and memorable. They have a good beer choice, but I wish they had more local craft beer. The fate of a national chain, I guess.
This was my first time eating at Moxie's. There was a good variety on the menu for both children and adults. We were a group of nine and everyone enjoyed their meal.
The bathrooms were very well decorated and a big hit with the pre-teens in our group!
The food is just average and the wait staff needs to have more clothing on them. For the price the steak was actually less than average and certainly not worth the price. Looking around you see mostly business men and I can tell you they are not there for the food. I wonder why all the "greeting" crew are in... more

Food is nothing special when considering the cost, however the friendly staff and nice venu nearly make up for it.
This was my first time at Moxie's.
The menu has a nice selection that will appeal to almost everyone. The Steak will be cooked to order and mine was done perfectly. It was not as tender as I like but that is not the fault of anyone in the kitchen.

Great food served in an classy room by formally dressed young ladies. The fish and meat are beautifully prepared and the staff is pleasant. Patrons withfood allergies / sensitivities need only mention them to the staff and they are very helpful in making sure that your health concerns are looked after.
Was bummed by no arugula for their most awesome beet salad. However was gladly given a free future salad by the charming Robert. Service with a beet coloured grin!
I was really impressed with my first visit to Moxie's. The decor is fantastic - awesome light fixtures, modern textiles and fabrics, and well-designed booths and tables. I certainly have to mention the women's washroom too, with specially-designed make-up chairs, a fireplace and TV, and very private stalls. But obviously the food and service are more important. We were there to celebrate two... more
I went here with a few friends on a Sunday at dinner time. Our waiter was very friendly and our food came quickly - the appetizer surprisingly so. The food was good and was of average price for a place like this. I think every day there is a different drink at a special price - on Sunday it was caesars.
The only complaint I have is that the waiter brought us our bills and didn't come back for...

been here a couple times, food is always good, service is fantastic. There was an entree I ordered that I didn't like because of personal preference and they didn't charge me for it and were overly apologetic over the issue. Great Staff!!
The food is mediocre at best, the service was terribly slow and not attentive, certainly not worth an hour plus wait. I think people are seduced by the decor and don't realize how unimpressive the food is, the place is always packed, which just goes to show that Dartmouth really needs more dining options.
