I don't know what is going on. I feel like we loved this place when I was in High school. I swear every time I've tried this place over the last 10 years, it just hasn't been very good.
The food seems to all just taste the same no matter what you do with it. It also seems very highly priced for what you get. The 1 bowl option is still expensive regardless.
I like their tortillas. That is...

Mongolian Grill, not even once.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. I got the: pick as much as you want that fits in a bowl and they grill it for you. It seemed way overpriced for what I got. I was invited to go by a couple of friends and doubt I will go again.
My boyfriend and I just went to The Mongolian Grill on a date night and I had a fantastic time. It was my first time at this establishment and I think they really did a great job. The restaurant was clean and spacious, it definitely catered to the younger university crowd and/or families. They don't really have a fantastic menu, including the drinks because I ordered a glass of rose and a... more
I went here with a few of my friends. The cooks were young and inexperienced. My sausage was very chewy and hard to eat because it was not cooked enough. I asked the server for rice twice and they never brought it over. I also noticed the top of the sriracha bottle inside had a brown layer of rotten something. How am I supposed to eat my stuff with the disgusting sriracha?? I complained about... more
Writing an update since their renovation and my changed taste buds.
Their prices are fairly high like before, though they've added a few options if you want to pay less by limiting the amount of times you can grab food. It's definitely more clean and modern-looking with the renovation, I remember the sauce table would be all dirty and messy from usage because the staff wouldn't clean up the...

Seems to cater to a university crowd, hoping they are not picky at what they eat. Cooks appeared to be very young and lack experience. Food was over done imo.
This restaurant has name Mongolian but it is not Mongolian at all! I think it is chinese.
This was our first trip to Mongolian Grill since their re-opening after their renovations. It looks great. The décor is bright and modern and everything looks fresh and clean. The food as always was excellent. The addition of a soup and salad bar is a nice option and more than justifies the rise in prices. All of the salad bar... more
First time here so really wasn't sure what was going on or what to expect. No one at door to greet us right away once Seated still no one explained to us what to do or what was on the menu but they did look under staffed at the moment. As for the food I will definitely go back. Hopefully... more
Hadn't been in a Mongolian for a long time -in this site was over 5 years ago-. Decided to go back for my wife's birthday. The good side: Service was good, drinks were brought quickly and Biba -the server- was checking regularly on how we were doing. Vegetables were incredible fresh.
The "bad" side: No seafood available. Cooks only talk...

Went here for a post-gym lunch with friends and we were starving. Our server was very disinterested and cold toward us from the beginning. She didn't inform us that they were out of shrimp (one of the main reasons we had gone there) and we had to ask someone coming from the back since the grill guy seemed to be... more
My husband, daughter and I went for dinner. You don't have an option for dinner but to get the all you can eat stir fry. You are given a very small bowl, you travel along and put things into the bowl that you want cooked and then give it to the guys at the grill to cook up for you.... more
Had a horrible experience there last night. When we arrived at 6:30, we were told they were running out of beef, chicken, and sausage. Since we only planned to have a bowl each, it was fine for us. We had never been there for dinner so didn't know that you had to do the all you can eat option for... more
The selection of food was adequate. The presentation wasn't the best, but you could certainly put together a decent stir-fry with what was offered. The drink menu looked good if you like frozen or fruity drinks. I was least impressed with the rice we were served with the meal as it ranged from chewy to crunchy (hopefully it was just... more
I have been to a few Mongolian Grill locations around Toronto and I've been to a good one and a not so good one. This one was so bad that I walked out of it.
We specifically drove over 30 minutes to eat at this location because we wanted this type of food. After looking around, we left without eating....

Being close to the university its always filled with students and can get pretty noisy. however i love the experience of getting to create your own meal, they have a great selection of items ive never found myself wishing they had more. Also being able to watch them cook your food is nice too so you know exactly whats going... more
I thought they way you get your ingredients, especially at the meat section was messy and unorganized. I liked how they had a lot of selections of sauces that you can try. I also thought it was a little overpriced for only getting main course food with no dessert section.
I enjoy building my own stir fries, then watch as they cook them. If you have allergies they will scrape the grill and use clean sticks to toss your food. You can watch the whole time and know your food hasn't come into contact with anything else.
Some of the items are hit and miss but overall not bad. I didn't really like the sausage but its all you can it, so if you get a miss just try again. I like all the varieties of sauces and herbs so you can make your dish unique and just the way you like it. It's a bit tricky knowing what herbs go with what but there are a few recipes you can follow if you want some guidance.
My friend and I have been dining at the Mongo a lot lately, Its the perfect place to go because you can literally create your own feast. The Staff is amazing. Even when there is a line up, its still quick and worth the wait. I love this place!
Great, fun restaurant for friends and family. Watch the cooks prepare what you choose on a large circular grill. All you can eat and variety of choices are great. Always will be a repeat customer..
Mongolian Grill has become one of our families favourite places to eat. It has become the place for any special occasions and you can never go wrong. You fill up your bowl with whatever you like and it is cooked right on the grill in front of you while you wait. Somehow it always tastes delicious no matter what you... more
A fun atmosphere with a good selection of food for grilling! My boyfriend has a seafood allergy and they catered to his needs without issue or wait! A unique and fun dining experience.
We went here on a weekend afternoon for a late lunch. It was not crowded at all. A staff person came to our table almost as soon as we were seated. We did get soup and salad in addition to the all you can eat stir fry. They were about average. On the day we were there they had the... more
If you like a quick stir fry, and lots of food, the Mongolian is the place to go. Basically an all you can eat, done on an open inverted hearth, for a set price, you can go up as many times as you please. You are allowed to select the raw ingredients, that are medium quality at best, but a... more
Seems not only is the clientele university students all of the staff too.
Quality of ingredients are average at best. Salad and soup and sub par and is only available by ordering through the kitchen. The salad looked as though it was thrown together. No thought to presentation and lettuce did not seem fresh.
Staff on the grill were very...

The place is thoroughly average. It's quite a fun idea though and the 'all you can eat' deal makes it pretty decent value. The food is fairly mediocre though. I'd recommend you eat there once, but it's not a place I would habituate.
The staff were friendly and helpful though, which added to the 'fun' part of the experience.
I love Mongolian barbeque restaurants in general, but I don't like the Mongolian Grill. The meat at the buffet should be sliced very thin and kept frozen to avoid the sloppy mess / biohazard.
BTW, you can find the Region of Waterloo health inspector's report of this business at checkit.regionofwaterloo…

We started going to the location when it opened many years ago. It became THE place to go and hang out. The bar area is very small, but the food is different...and unique in that you can pick and choose what you eat.
The restaurant could use an update, but it is always clean, and the waitstaff is generally amazing.
This is in Waterloo, Ontario, not Quebec.
My husband and I went there when we were looking for a restaurant in Waterloo since we were touring in the area.
First of all, the place needs a rehaul, shabby looking and did not look clean.
As for the service, we were escorted to a table and waited about 5 - 10...

Fun to. Make your own dish with their fresh selections and watch the grill master make it. Also a great value.
First off this joint is in Waterloo, ONTARIO, not Quebec.
Went last night with friends. The set-up is you go chose a bowlful of thinly sliced meat, fish or veg (pork, chicken "lamb?", mangled salmon, tiny (pretty well still frozen) shrimp, dank -looking calamari, noodles, veggies etc, top it with spice mixture (Cajun, Montreal steak, curry, etc etc), spoon on...

My wife really enjoys the food here, so we went. I thought the food was okay - get a bowl, fill it with stuff, the cook it. It was what I expected. The price was fine, but we had a Groupon offer.
The atmosphere sucked. The bench seating that we sat on needed to be replaced at least 5 years...

The idea behind this grill is awesome but the quality of food is bad. The food was cooked on a super hot 'grill' which caused the noodles to burn. And there was a baseline aftertaste which was very unpleasant. The ingredients themselves looked relatively fresh but not necessarily super appetizing. The staff was super helpful and provided good service.
Nice atmosphere (close to university so lots of students) allows a family to hold a birthday party. (that is why we went) Salad is brought to the table but the rest you do yourself.
Taking a large bowl you choose your meat, Veggies and sauces and take it to the cooking station. it is here that you see them cook...

I really don;t know why I was putting off going to this restaurant for so long. It has all the ingredients (literally) to be a great place to eat. And I was right. The best part about this place is the fact that it can accomodate groups and that I have had some great times here with great friends.
If you're looking for good food with flavour, skip this place. It is way overpriced. They are closing in on $20 for the all-you-can-eat stir fry. It lacks flavour, despite the fact that they offer a large selection of sauces to season your dish.

I agree with Nokolaos. The food here is sub par. Good for customization if you have a group of people with some fussy eaters, but overall, lacking in pizzaz. In addition to freshness issues, I find the Mongolian lacking in flavor. The sauces for example don't really add much to the stirfry and unless i drown my food in them, I can barely taste them.
not really my kind of thing, but fun to go to
What Waterloo needs most is decent restaurants.Mongolian Grill is not helping this issue. The premise behind Mongolian grill is that you pick out your ingredients/sauces and pass then to a "chef" who operates a teppanyaki of some sorts. There is a large selection of ingredients and sauces to choose from. However, most of the ingredients are lacking in freshness.

great fun atmosphere; friendly staff and good food. Agreat combination.
Great place to dine at, the guys behind the grill are amazing who knew you could prepare food using sticks.
Pretty basic, but good and filling
Different / fun...if you don't mind waiting.
Nice casual place to go have dining with some friends. Go with an empty belly there, it will help !
Awesome!!! We go whenever we get the chance!
Good Make your own stirfry
Careful with allergies.
Can you smell what the chef is cooking? GARLIC
I like the variety of ingredients for fajitas and the cool BBQ but all it is is fajitas. Boring!
Fun experience. Tasty food and a good price for all-you-can-eat. After a while, most food tastes the same. Good as a 'different experience'.
They increased their price over the last couple of years and got rid of their single bowl buffet option. Good atmosphere, but not someplace you'd go on a date because it's too loud to hear anyone talk.
A great place to go if you want a chance to have fun with friends and watch your food being cooked.
this can vary depending on the night, but usually it is awesome
Busy---fun with a crowd--choose your own mix :)
I love how the whole concept is, and the food is good. There is nothing in the food that you can hate, since you put it together yourself :D
Can't compalin becasue I always get what I want. The service sometime suffers becasue you are so much on your own. there are often unmanagable crowds, be wary of busy nights.
It's very dirty...crowded....just an awful place to dine.
The burger are great, but there rings and fries are the best. Try the homemade rootbeer instead of a regular drink. Not hungery for a burger, they have something for everybody..Never made it to the deserts, but they look great..This is a great family place..
Well where do I start!!! This was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant.Let me start by saying that i was at your restaurant on Tuesday December 20,2005 and the place was very dirty. The floors were greasy and the bowls had food stuck on them still. Not just the top bowl I had to dig through the stack to find a half decent clean bowl. The tongs that everybody touches are also... more

This is a very unique place to eat.It is a buffet style setting
This restaurant is very good lots of chosses you have a selection of fresh food and you get to watch it being grilled right in front of you. The all you can eat is about $15 and is very good.It is still onuniversity and doing well.
I greatly enjoy this place. For a price not more than Kelsey's or East Side's you'll enjoy a great experience of seeing your food being cooked infront of your eyes and it's a buffet - so eat as much as you can handle!
This is definately something different. It's a buffet, but you prepare all your ingredients (meats, fish, veggies, sauce, etc) and you bring it to the grill where they cook it in front of you. You can make each bowl different and to your liking.
This is my favourite restuarant. You pay for either one bowl or all you can eat. They allow you to decide as you eat just in case you get full quickly. You go to a buffet and fill a large bowl with vegetables, meat, sauces, spices, etc. and they fry it up for you. Very tasty food!
This is a very unique place to eat. It is a buffet style setting with you choosing the ingredients you want stir-fryed and your food is cooked in front of you on a huge circular grill. The service is friendly and overall a great place to eat.
We are a create your own stir fry restaurant/buffet.
