Our party of four were the only diners on a Monday night, which was a little disquieting, but the food and service were excellent. The lamb meatball starter was very sophisticated. The kitchen ditched the blackening spices at my request and seared my tuna just right with a light touch. All impeccable, even if our foursome felt somewhat adrift.
My wife and I decided to try this place that seems to be flying under the radar. Tucked away just off Spring Garden Rd, the restaurant offers a cozy, intimate dining experience. The menu, while small, is varied, and offers pretty much one take on each kind of food (meat, chicken, seafood, pasta, vegetarian). Both my wife and I tried... more
Had a nice, quiet meal with my date. The steak and scallops were done to perfection as was the chicken. Date enjoyed her drink. No complaints.
After hearing several friends give me great reviews of this restaurant I finally decided to try it in mid-Feb. We went after Valentine's Day to miss the crowds although I am sure this intimate restaurant would have been excellent for Valentines Day - tables well spaced yet cozy and warm. The service here is excellent! Attentive but not over the... more
Have visited Moda several times it is always an enjoyable experience. Food service atmosphere is as good as it gets in Halifax. I would recommend giving it a try.
Our first visit to Moda.
Our table had Calamari, Thai Soup, Mushrooms with Goat cheese, lamb, halibut and pad thai and all were excellent.
We will return.
Just in Halifax for a couple of days whilst touring and happened upon this little restaurant yesterday, but being Sunday it was closed, so we went being back this evening. The menu had a good range of choice, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and above all it didn't cost the earth. If we ever visit... more
This is a small restaurant with a very nice atmosphere, tastefully appointed with original art works. Service was excellent and very professional. The menu has a number of nice selections; I had a shrimp and pasta dish that tasted excellent. The wine list is not huge but had a number of good selections. This restaurant is strongly recommended.
We had a lovely dinner at Moda. The decore is modern, in an older building, with these two elements well integrated. The food ranks with the best restaurants in Halifax, and there's a decent wine list. The pace of the meal was perfect, and, to top everything off, they lent us an umbrella when we were leaving (it had started... more
Had a very good dinner and experience at this restaurant. The service was very good and our meals were delicious. Would visit again.
My Mom, sister, daughter and I had dinner here on Friday April 19th - my last night in Halifax.
This was a great place to visit - my Mom (who lives in Halifax) has often talked about it. I had the Pad Thai which was delicious. The restaurant is very pretty and is just steps off of the main
street...

We wandered into this place one noon hour and were pretty happy we did. Our orders were perfectly turned out with possibly the most delicious heirloom carrots I have ever had. Crisp white wine on crisp white table clothes and attentive but not in-your face service. I would like to try it out for dinner some time... I suspect it... more
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary by going to Moda. It started with warm and delicious Sourdough baguettes & butter. I’m not sure if they make their own from scratch or order from a local bakery. They were good though.
I had the MODA signature dish that I think was a good deal. It included appetizer, main and dessert...

Dined there for my birthday - brought along my bf, mom and dad. Service was perfect, I had the pad thai and thought it was plentiful and satisfying. I can't recall what everyone else had but I know we all left happy. Thought the food was amazing and the staff was wonderful. It's first on my list when I recomend... more
This was our first visit to Moda and certainly won't be our last. We came in from the pouring rain outside and the hostess offered to hang up our coats and umbrella, which is always a good start in a top notch restaurant.
Our server, Emily, was very helpful in telling us about what she thought were the best items...

Having been to Moda on a number of occasions, I've had the pleasure of sampling a good portion of their menu. While I've been extremely satisfied by each meal I had, you simply cannot beat their risotto spheres, beef tenderloin, and Portuguese donut and frozen cappuccino.
Their service staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable, and the restaurant has a great...

Tonight was our second time dinning at Moda. We were meeting after work and anticipated great food and service like we had at our first visit.
The food was as great as we remembered, however, the service in one word was horrible. Firstly, we arrived 15 minutes before it opened (we didn't realize it wasn't open until 5pm); We were...

We were really looking forward to a few nice meals in Halifax, and called Moda as soon as we checked into the hotel, and they were able to accommodate us that evening.
We ordered the 4 course tasting menu and were very pleasantly surprised. The loaded potato soup was excellent, the beef tip salad was amazing, and surprisingly we were...

Visited Hali in May 2011 with another couple and were fortunate to discover a downtown dining gem. The atmosphere was warm and cozy (it was cold outside), service attentive without being intrusive, and the food, amazing. We were there for dinner and started with the yorkshire pudding with beef tips, risotto balls, lobster fontina pasta and fish cake. What a... more
This was our second visit to Moda. The first time, we loved our food (I ordered steak, my wife ordered lobster fontina). Back then, we noticed the menu was really short too but we assumed the menu must change quite a lot. Anyways, we realized on our second visit that the menu stays the same (even for months, it seems).... more
Best meal I had in Halifax and one of the more reasonable. Dinner for two with drinks was under a hundred dollars. The restaurant in an old townhouse at 1516 Dresden. The setting was fashionable with tables in the front room seating no more than 32. A bar and additional seating is in the back but I did not venture... more
Had dinner one evening and came back late another night for drinks and desert after going to the theater. The restaurant is located an in old house at 1518 Dresden. The dinning area is somewhat elegant with table cloths and a nice fireplace. Their is a bar and smaller private seating area in the back. The menu includes steaks, seafood,... more
