It's open until 10 pm, and given that were arrived late at the hotel after a really long day of travelling, and just wanted a quick bit before bed, we would have chosen something that wouldn't keep them late.
But the hostess told us to find a seat in the bar. We told her we didn't want to eat in...

This restaurant is near my office and is a great place for a quick, good client lunch. They have a decent range of entrees and the food is quite good. Service is consistently excellent. The atmosphere is nice enough for most but hardly pretentious. Prices are very reasonable.
This is a competent hotel resto/bar...and i am sure that there will be times to visit. On days it's pouring rain outside, or minus 25 degrees, or days you're so thirsty coming out of the hotel conference that we are grateful to find a wateringhole.
But only a few blocks away, we can do better than a dark, badly decorated,...

The bartender at Matisse, Alivia, has made our group feel right at home the past few weeks. Our food came out right away each night, and she introduced us to a bunch of new beers and drinks that are out of this world!
Stayed at the Marriott for one night and ended up having dinner at Matisse - the hotel's restaurant. My experience was not great. The service was a bit slow and the food - a soup and a salad - miserable. The portions were generous but the lack of flavor was stark.
Fabulous buffet breakfast. Have had to go on diet since returning home. The dining room is.cozy, has free newspapers for diners, does not hurry diners, and is open long hours. Loved it, and will go back even when not staying in hotel.
The buffet breakfast is great and very good value. The staff are warm and efficient and just what you want to start your day.
We had room service for dinner and that was good too.
Went here to eat lunch with a couple of co-workers. Service was terrible, and the food was the same. Hint- there is a new thing called salt and pepper, might want to try it! after reading good reviews thought it would be a good choice. what a mistake. for all going to this area hit the food court in the... more
Beautiful paintings decorate the restauant, great specials 2 for $20, very good service..especially Jedyth who was efficient and personable..I usually don't eat in the hotel restaurant but this was a pleasant surprise..
mesfin is an amazing waiter, could not of asked for better service. the marriott should be proud of him
After days of enjoying donuts and coffee for breakfast, we had a nice brunch at Matisse. The buffet had a nice selection of danishes and bagels as well as eggs, potatoes and meats. Everything was fresh, tasty and seasoned nicely. The only thing I would like to have seen was a non-pork meat option. The coffee was excellent and you... more
This is basically a lobby restaurant on the ground floor that did not have "views of Bloor Street" (except for 2 or 3 tables overlooking the subway entrance and sidewalk). It is NOT a special occasion restaurant, it is very casual so it was extremely disappointing for a birthday celebration. The steak was tough, appetizers and desserts were good.
It is a pleasure to eat where you are made to feel that they really enjoy having you there. In early April I enjoyed a Sunday Brunch at Matisse with friends and it was a most enjoyable experience. The buffet was really fresh and varied so there was something for every taste and the chef (Phil) was on hand to... more
We had the buffet breakfast with a large family. It's a casual atmosphere with butler-like service. The service was excellent and very professional and courteous. Our waiter's name was Mesfin, and he went above and beyond - highly recommend!
The food was great too! Again, we did the buffet, which included salmon, fruit, omelets and scrambled eggs, cereal, pastries, and...

I recently visited for my birthday lunch with a colleague (april 12) and a retirement lunch in February. Both meals were excellent, had steak frites with chocolate moulten cake during first lunch, and turkey BLT during second. The turkey sandwich ranks very high as one of the best i've had and the french fries are amazing. Steak was tastey and... more
I work near the Marriot and Matisse has become one of my favourite watering holes. Olivia is an excellent bartender. She always greets me with a big smile and remembers my order. She's the best! I have recommended Matisse to many of my friends and they have never been dissappointed.
The Matisse restaurant is inside the Marriott Bloor-Yorkville. It has an excellent variety of tastes, and the service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and strive to make your dinner enjoyable. The breakfast buffet has a very good variety for a hotel breakfast. Would not hesitate to take friends or business contacts there.
We ate dinner at Matisse the night we stayed at the hotel and my impression was more of a cafe than fine dining which you would expect at a 4 star hotel. The food and service were good.
We were invited by a vendor for a Holiday Business Lunch. As stated in other reviews, this restaurant is located inside the Marriott Hotel on Yonge and Bloor. The restaurant is smaller than what I expected, and decor is quite nice.
One of the hosts holds a few conventions at the hotel it is located at, and we were given...

Matisse is located right inside Marriott Hotel, on Bloor and Yonge. Very convenient for those coming off the subway. This restaurant does not have a snobby atmosphere. In fact, I found it warm and friendly, no pretensions.
As it was a business lunch, I ordered something light. A couple of appetizers which I shared with my business associate ... the...

Good service, and very good food. The waiters are helpful and very attentive. The menu is a bit limited, but try it, you will like it.
Good breakfast buffet, juice and coffee (in a carafe) brought to table. Good service. Wish they still had the omelet station though which I remembered from my last stay at the hotel.
Food is mediocre and overpriced. Service was subpar. They don't have enough servers for the number of tables. I had to wait 10 minutes just to get a straw for my drink.
The service was great at the Matisse with a welcome upon arrival and warm greetings from the staff. The food was fine. Lunch time salad, sandwich bar food. The only down side was the noise. Very difficult to have a good conversation.
fantastic dinner with our group, service was great
No point eating here when there are so many other places locally that are much better. Only positive is the barmaid, she was really nice and made a great Martini.
For a hotel restaurant (Marriott), it pretty good. Try the grilled cheese sandwich or the buttered chicken. I frequently stay at the hotel and never tire of their food.
I was looking for a restaurant close to work hold our year end manager's dinner party. This restaurant was the ideal location as its located right out of Yonge station on the subway line and one of the only restaurants in the location with a parking lot complete with valet service plus it's in the Marriott Hotel so what's not to love!I emailed the restaurant in advance telling them that I was... more
Diverse menu and good drink selection. I ate at the bar since I was traveling alone. Bar staff was very friendly.
Service was awful. We were only one of three tables filled and our server was trying to rush us out at the end of our dinner. It was 9pm! He also had to be pushed to answer a question requiring him to ask the chef about the ingredients in one of the dishes. The food was just so-so for $35 price fix. We will not be returning.
In a stretch of Bloor Street without many eateries, Matisse, which opens off the street in the Yorkville Bloor Marriott, is dependable, open til 10 PM has good service and serves tasty food. The chicken pot pie and salad was zingy, not a bland white blob of gravy/meat/goo. Pastry top was light and crunchy. The corn and bacon chowder is... more
This is the restaurant in the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville. It was clean, the decor was very nice, and the staff attentive. I ate breakfast here while staying at the hotel. Went to the bar and restaurant to meet friends for dinner. Our friend picked the restaurant because of mobility issues
I ordered a drink in the bar and tried to pay for it. He said I should run a tab-ie lazy. Before I could resolve this, the rest arrived so I let it slide.
We went to the restaurant -there...

To be here is to be in a painting by the impressionist master: trompe l'oeil abounds. Delight in the Matisse Snow Crab Cake served with chipotle drizzle and crispy leeks or rigatoni bolognese. Lunch, dinner daily; weekend brunch. Smart casual. Entrees: $16-$35.
