Went there on a very hungry stomach, and was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the place. Even better, the food was delicious.
they have great indian food here, and do quick take-out. they must have a few drivers because it's always fast.

The food was beautiful and tasted great. Our server was attentive and made the experience that much more special. If Indian cuisine is something you enjoy, this restaurant will do the trick.
we found everything to be wonderful. Food great, service was above and beyond.......they were very quiet for a sunday eve, so hopefully just as committed when busy.
Great place for some classic east indian food, but toned down for the more bland western pallet.Overall it was tasty, but I didn't understand why Roti and Naan were not unlimited accompaniments to the meal. All other East Indian restaurants I've been to do not charge additional for these starchy staples.
Food is always good quality, busy at lunchtime so get there early or make a reservation.
I hadn't been to Mango Shiva for several years and I must say both the quality of food and the service have declined. The menu offered several types of Indian beer, but they didn't actually have any in stock. The curry bowls, which used to be great, seemed kind of bland and mediocre. And our waiter pretty much ignored us most of the night. We won't be going back.
My partners first time experience with mango shiva and he loved it. I have been a few times and find the food to be delicious and the service to be perfect- not always lurking in the background but not waiting twenty mins to order. We will be going back.
we all had the buffet, which was a great way to try different foods. everyone went back for seconds of their favorites. as a group of 7, the buffet helped us to eat our lunch and get back to work in a timely manner.
My friend and I of African Canadian decent were treated very poorly. My friend got there earlier than me and approached the host at the entrance (East Indian gentleman), ignored her and started attending to other (Caucasian) patrons lined up behind her. After we got seated and were getting food from the buffet, the kitchen staff that were replenishing the buffet with fresh food were giving both... more
The food was good and the buffet is a great way to go. However, the service is worse than ever. We were put into a crowded area when there were lots of other seats. And the waitress rushed us out at the end. It was obvious that she really wanted to get off shift clean up lunch and close.
She cleared all of my plates, including water when my guest was still eating. Terrible watiress manners. Not...

I've usually gone there for buffer and have no complaints, however, went on Monday and there was no buffet. We ordered three dishes as there was three people and two dishes came and the third never did. So when we asked they said they were out and forgot to tell us. No compensation or nothing, bad service, bad attitude. Stick to the buffet only.
The food is amazing as always and the Fenugreek dishes are unreal. Love the $5 happy hour food and drink specials!
Overall food was very good and tasty. Deserts could use less sugar.
I went for the lunch buffet after raving to a friend about it and was embarrassed by how poor our experience was after my clearly over enthusiastic review to her. We waited for over 10 minutes to get our drinks ordered, and that was only when I went to the hostess and asked if we had a server at all. Then we went and got our food, and were half way through our meals before our drinks even came.... more
Excellent buffet! The food is fresh and tastes great! One of my favorite places for a downtown lunch during the week!
We asked Neil to bring the food for 9 of us - appetizers, main dishes - they were all absolutely delicious!
Customer service was excellent. The staff responded to our needs in a timely manner. We were seated on arrival and were made very comfortable. The food was great! I am not a huge fan of very spicy foods but the taste was sumptuous.Thanks.
Friday buffet was great. Best to book a reservation and get here at 1130 before the restaurant gets packed. Very good selection of buffet items and I always enjoy the rice pudding. Its gets very noisy here, yes, but it's to be expected for an Indian lunch buffet situated in the heart of Stephen Avenue. I'll be back.
Excellent place for lunch and supper.
Nice variety of South east Asian food.
The vegetarian thali was really good. Chefs selection of curries plus salad, raita and pickles fragrant and flavorful. The ginger lemonade was also excellent with cracked pepper to add a bit more spice. My companion had the goat curry and loved it. The service was a bit off - we were ignored for quite a while while our server had an extended conversation at another table. Otherwise a great... more
We have not been toMango Shiva for a few years. We have never been disapointed in th epast. This time, my wife and I found the food just great. Not greasy or deep fried. It was reasonably spicy, which we like. The service and friendliness of the staff were superb. We would recommend it to anyone, even those who require gluten free.
WE have been here many times before. This time the service was poor, with little care.
the food was good, yet disorganized with uncaring service
Loved the food, we had the lunch buffet. There was lots of dishes and they filled constantly.
Had the buffet here on 6/6/14. First time back in several years. The food was very good - great selection. I still enjoy the funky interior and ambience. I'll be back.
However the table setting was poor for the group of 12 friends.
Loved every second of it at Mango Shiva! We sat on the extremely comfortable couches in the lounge area, ate appetizers and drank drinks during happy hour (so inexpensive!!) and could have stayed all night. We will be back for sure!!
Chicken was over cooked. Flavour was good but meat was very dry. Not as much variety as I expected. Plastic chairs are uncomfortable.
Service was quite slow sitting for good ten minutes before drink order was taken. Vindaloo was not at all spicy as it should be but every other food item was wonderful. Would go again to try again.
My partner and I went to eat here for our anniversary. He is a Brit, so he knows what a good Indian meal should taste like! The service was great, fast, and friendly. Food was great, portions were really good too. Definitely check out the Bombae Sundae, was epic!!I love Pinot noir from Central Otago, New Zealand and this is the first place I've seen that has had it on their wine list!! So,... more

I could not have been happier with the overall quality of this restaurant.First, the food was incredibly delicious and flavourful. It was well prepared and the presentation of it was nice as well. I really enjoyed their stuffed mushrooms and butter chicken. Second, our waitress was absolutely amazing! I've never had such good service before. She was sweet and attentive to our table. The lunch buffet has a great selection and is always being filled. The service is very friendly and bubbly. When I am asked where can we get good Indian food I always recommend the Mango Shiva.
Mango Shiva has the best happy hour in the downtown core! Cocktails, beers, wines for $5. Appetisers for $5. Everything was delicious and the staff is so friendly. This is going to be our new watering hole.
The goat biryani is very good if a bit larger than needed. No need for appetizers if you are having this. My associate was very happy with butter chicken. Cost are on the high side if you add good wine, appetizers or sides and dessert. The coffee is locally source - not a lot of options there and overpriced from what I tasted. Both times I have gone it has been relatively uncrowded and I have... more
We visited for brunch buffet, very authentic, spicy, flavourful food!! We did have one person in our party that could not tolerate the spice and they ended up being limited to a couple buffet items and desserts so make sure you all can take the heat before heading down.I would absolutely recommend this restaurant, and come hungry!!Dahl, butter chicken, pakoras, it's all delicious!! And the... more
If you've never had indian food before, this restaurant is good place to get initiated. The food is not too spicy as it can be in south indian cuisines and somewhat tailored to the North American palate. At the same time the menu is varied and very good.
Enjoyed the taste and the ambiance.Tasty food and my friends enjoyed.
Even though it was a very busy Friday night the service was prompt and efficient. The food is fantastic even for someone who was not sure about Indian cuisine. All dishes ordered were shared by all and enjoyed by all. The tandoori tiger prawns and Maharaja stuffed mushrooms were absolutely great. Coconut prawns and lamp chops were fantastic. Everyone should enjoy Mango Shiva at least once!
Excellent buffet lunch in a fun atmosphere. Lots of variety to choose from. Well presented and excellent quality.
This restaurant services Indian - North American fusion. The flavours are satisfying, but not to the level of richness and complexity from a more traditional Indian restaurant. It is a good place to bring people new to Indian food. The atmosphere is quite trendy and the service is good. I would consider going again depending on my company.
My parents eat out nearly every meal so they are used to most of the restaurants around town. For my mom's birthday I thought I'd find a place they hadn't been and that was Mango Shiva. During the evenings the parking is cheap or free and plenty of it. Being on Stephen Ave there is a little more energy and activity going on which is so often missing from Calgary Restaurants. The food was good... more
I found Mango Shiva while looking for a new Indian restaurant my girlfriend and I to try. It was the most recommended in Calgary. We very much enjoyed the food. I will warn you that after eating at Mango Shiva, the bar set for quality here... more
My wife and I headed here on a Sunday evening and had a great dinner. The restaurant was quiet and the wait staff were friendly and helpful. The food here was delicious and packed with flavour and the service extraordinary. Highly recommend the lava cake!
Went at lunch time and sat down at table asked for wine menu but everything I asked for they did have. All that was available were bottles or the house wine. Tried out Mango Shiva for our first time . . . . loved it! I started with the pomegranate martini and it was very good. We attended the restaurant while "The Big Taste" ($35) was on in Calgary. A very trendy feel, no Bhangra playing on the speakers, and horribly over-priced. Being Indian I have grown up with curries and cook them myself. There is nothing expensive about making curries which is why I cannot understand why the average price seems to be $25-35 per dish. For a party of 4 people, our total bill was $250 (tip... more
We stopped in for lunch and we're surprised that the buffet was over $20 per person. We found the food good but something about it didn't sit well with my fiancé and lets just say, he was a treat to be in a car with for the rest of the afternoon...

Feeling hungry jumped into this indian restaurant in downtown. Initial appearance is quite nice.
Ordered a lot of odd. Unfortunately none of the food tasted indian, except for the naan bread. All dishes have a continental or costal flavor.

Never again will I return to mango shiva. The food was so bland and my guest and I watched a woman from the kitchen staff cough all over one of the trays of food she brought to the buffet. Utterly disgusting
Went on a Saturday evening with 3 girlfriends. The interiors are exceptional, modern yet warm at the same time. A vibrant atmosphere to be sure. Wine list had some different out-of-the-ordinary selections which were excellent and priced reasonably. Food was enjoyed by all. They put an up market touch on their food which is refreshing and interesting, yet doesn't compromise... more
Ordered a glass of wine from the bar. Then watched the bar tender give plates to a customer, clean bar glasses, not a wine glass, walked away from the bar and the manager asked if we'd ordered. And that was only the beginning. The lamb chops were small expensive tough from the gristle, the butter chicken had 5 nuggets, merely... more
Took my first trip into Calgary this past week and as my friend and I walked past the entrance we immediately turned our heads and had to at least look at the menu. As I travel for business, my job takes me to many different places. Mango Shiva is in my top 3 worst I have been to. I was brought by some business associates and was not impressed at all. Butter chicken advertised as one of their signature dishes, but it is rather underwhelming. Good fish pakoras. Slow service and inattentive. There are probably better places to go in Calgary.
Having eaten at a lot of India restaurants in Calgary and about 7 weeks in India this year, I do find this place overrated. This was actually my 2nd trip there in the last few months. They have just changed the menu in the last 3 weeks so the big appy platter we tried last time was not available. So... more
Visited my aunt during her lunch work break. Lucky we'd reserved a table, the place was busy! Service was very quick and friendly. During the time we were there it was only buffet, so it was great to try a selection of different meals. The food was delicious!! I really loved the decor as well.
My boyfriend and I were visiting Calgary and happened to walk by Mango Shiva one afternoon. It sparked our interest as it had an attractive facade and we both thoroughly enjoy Indian food. The menu was conveniently posted outside and with one glance, we decided our dinner plans. We had made reservations - and a good thing, it was busy!... more
Enjoyed this. Pork vindaloo was great and wine selection was decent. Prices and service also good. Nothing to fault here and the food was quite good. I'll come back next trip to Calgary!
Brilliant Indian causine, particularly for vegitarians. I enjoyed food and specially garlic naan. Good Indian veg thali and drink. It is located in the heart of the city. I enjoyed weekend program on 7 th avenue street.
This place has one of the best naan I've ever tasted and the malai kofta we'd ordered was amazingly tasty! Rice portions that come with the curry are a bit small so I would recommend adding a naan as well. The staff was very kind and attentive. They also serve great cocktails, some very spicy and adventurous, but definitely worth... more
The welcome here was excellent... we didn't have a booking, but were seated promptly and the staff made us feel like they really valued our custom.

Visited Mango Shiva for lunch buffet. Had a group of 10 people. Food was so-so. Veggie dishes were good but meat was not. Northern Indian is never my favourite, but if you have to have it, Mango Shiva is not bad.

We made reservations through OpenTable which was very easy and convenient. Great decor, atmosphere and service. Food was excellent. The only downside is small portion size for the price (and depending where you live, dealing with parking downtown). For these reasons, we will save return visits for special occasions.
Very good food/eclectic menu. Pretty inside--kind of a trendy restaurant, but pretty. We really enjoyed the Indian food we ordered. I would go back in a second.
