Had read some good reviews before going to Mai Mai's, and the place did not disappoint. Very tasty sushi, reasonably priced and super fresh. A great pick for sushi in Sooke!
This is our second time here and loved it again. We were seated very quickly, given water and our order taken. Food came very fast. We are not sushi eaters so enjoyed the Thai portion of the menu. Having said that, some sushi plates went by us and I have never seen food more attractively presented. Don't know what they... more
My wife and I liked the food, but were not blown away. Definitely the best Asian food in Sooke, but we did not find it extraordinary.
An Asian fusion kind of place. The decor is a bit left over Thai restaurant (the previous tenant I assume). While the decor languishes a little, it is clean and bright and the food and service is great. Staff very friendly. We have visited several times. Enjoyed Lunch combos. Delicious and very good value. Highly recommended!
We dined there twice while on vacation because we liked fresh sushi and sushi rolls. Generous pieces of fish and nicely crafted rolls. Would recommend this place for every day eating.
Plain restaurant but oh so good food. Sea weed salad best ever. Sushi fresh and beautifully presented. Waitress friendly, fun, and great personality. Prices very reasonable - less than stateside.
Loved the mini Thai chicken skewers and peanut sauce. Had the island roll and the Mai Mai roll. Both super interesting and delicious options! Would recommend! The staff was so pleasant and helpful when we picked up our food.
4 of us had dinner here and would highly recommend anyone else to dine. The sushi was very fresh and tasty. Nice food presentation. Friendly staff who could seat us without us having a booking. They also resolved a small issue pleasantly and efficiently.
Great place for lunch and dinner. I go there severak times a year and I'm never disappointed. The service is very friendly and the food is very good.
We were hungry after our hike and were looking for a meal so we were pleased to find this Asian restaurant. But our pleasure evaporated as we entered what must have recently been a bar. There was still a vague sense of beer and smokes even though some effort had been made to decorate the place with a southeast asian... more
The four of us were staying in Sooke, BC for our combined anniversaries (traveling mid week, off season) so our hotel had no dining available but they told us of a new (ish) bistro down the highway, that served Thai food.
Excellent choice!
Mai Mai's Bistro was a profound experience!
The decor was funky with stand up counters as well...

We recently went to Mai Mais Bistro and had the best Sushi we've ever had. When we were looking for a place to eat in Sooke for Sushi we stopped in to get a to go menu. We tried 8 rolls and many more meals from the menu over 3 days because we were blown away from the food quality!... more
Everytime I go to Mai Mai's you are greeted with a warm smile! I consider myself a sushi snob and the sushi here is fresh and very delicious. I usually come here with my sister and dad and order atleast 5-8 rolls, they come out fast considering how much we order. I work at the prestige hotel and always recommend... more
The food portions were larger than average. Atmosphere was enjoyable, service was quick, and staff were friendly. Food was excellent and exactly what I was expectimg.
Went here with a friend and had the sushi and prawns, which are always fresh and very tasty. The ambience of the restaurant needs work but the food is great!
Very casual place with decent food. Serves mainly sushi but with some common western foods and Thai inspired dishes. The rolls were a bit creative and tasty.
it was a good stop to eat and the service was decent.
This place is a gem, super fresh sushi and sashimi along with several unique dishes created by the chef. We loved the food, and it was also great value for money - having eaten at top japanese restaurants all over the world, this ranks up there with them
best fish & chips I have ever had. my husband always orders the sushi & raves about how fresh it is. the restaurant could use a good cleaning & upgrade but don't let the looks of the place fool you. all the locals love the food and with good reason.
While on a day trip we stopped in for a bite to eat at Mai Mai's Bistro in Sooke. One word - AMAZING - would sum up the food. This certainly is the best sushi we've had hands-down, the wonton soup was crazy-good, the service friendly. This is a destination restaurant, not a 'hey, lets give this place a try'...... more
The service is excellent, freshly prepared and delicious. The seaweed salad is unique and almost addictive. The tempura is done with sweet-potato flour and is hot and melts in your mouth, not at all greasy
Great sushi, great service, great drinks try the Caesar. Must stop by well in Sooke. They have a wide range of special rolls
We spent a few nights in Sooke and were looking for somewhere to eat we could walk to (staying at Harbour). We had read many reviews of this restaurant and decided to give it a go. Best choice we ever made! The venue is an unusual place but don't worry about external appearances, (it's in an odd position) inside there... more
The sushi are amazing and at a good price...they have great combos for lunch and the stir-fry are so yummie...the place is new but really warm and casual and the server are so nice GO CHECK IT OUT
Great selection of Japanese food, lots of yummy choices, very reasonably priced. Web site shows the variety of choices, staff is always friendly and inviting... my favorite place to dine-in in Sooke. Getting hungry just thinking about them.
I went there with a group of people and all of us seemed to be pleased with what they had ordered. I recommend the Asian menu items specifically.
