Set in a decor inspired by its old stone walls, Le Patriarche is pleased to welcome you. Imbued with a unique architectural cachet, this 1827 heritage home-turned-restaurant has been serving discerning gourmets since 1965.
We went there to celebrate our first year of wedding.
At first, i was not really convinced of my husband's choice. But I changed my mind at the instant I tasted the first meal. This lobster bisque was unforgettable!
Everything comes in trilogies… If you choose the scallop for a starter, you will receive 3 plates, 3 ways to eat it. Same thing for the principal meal and for dessert. Yes I ate 3 times too much, but the foie gras, the venison, the Quebec lamb… Believe me, it worth it! They served us a glass of wine, beautifully paired with each service.
It's not cheap, but it's worth the 3 hours of happiness and discovery you will have.
We already planned to return on next year.

we went to eat at Le Patriarche last night 7 of us. Everybody was disappointed. Good, but under expectations. We went there thinking that a Five Diamond awarded restaurant would be exceptional. It is not. The worst part was the girls explaining the menus. They are not friendly. It was more like an oral contest. They never smiled and they... plus
We knew about Le Patriarche since quite a while, but its newly awarded Five-Diamond convinced us to give it a try for a dinner. It is located in a little stone house, a off of St-Jean street. The environment is nicely appointed, although the tables are a tad close to each other. Unfortunately for us that night, behind us was... plus
we ordered the $82 and $107 prix fixe. Yes we knew about the prix fixe price before hand, but was expecting better food quality and service (especially from reading tripadvisor's reviews)
the food quality is very binary. chicken and fish were just blend. game poultry were too salty. even the lobster bisque is very salty. the minimum I would expect...

On our Saturday-night visit we ordered two different multi-course menus with wine pairings, so by sharing had a remarkably diverse dinner. Each of the three dishes within each course was very good to near-excellent, especially the foamy delights included in some of the trios. The wine pairings were also well chosen, and the service was efficient. We didn't experience long... plus
During a recent trip to Quebec City we we fortunate to get reservations at Patriarche during the busy holiday season. Upon entering, the cozy old Quebecois decor took over and we knew we were in for a treat. Selecting from a choice of three different five course dinners with different wines selected for each course, was no easy task as... plus
This is not food-it is an incredible dining experience. 8 courses with wine pairings, superb service and gorgeous and inventive food. This was a once in a lifetime experience for us. Pricey - over $500.00 for two but worth the splurge!!
Unique and unusual dinner, even in the slow-food, farm-to-table world. You pick one of three menus and then the food itself comes out in threes...the tiny portions add up! I had the duck option; duck this and duck that, duck sausage, etc...all wonderful combinations of flavors that seemed to unfold like a story. Just a note, dinner for 3 came... plus
Extraordinary gastronomic experience! Service was fantastic and atmosphere was quaint and powerfully romantic! We enjoyed the trilogy of food technique which is something everyone should experience!
Our group shared a relaxing 3 1/2 hour 5 course meal that was perfectly executed and timed between each course. Service top notch.
La Patriarche compares favorably with Le Bernadin (NYC). Our dinner...

I don't know if the chef is truly an adherent of the Slow Food Movement or not, but his cooking and the restaurant epitomize the best of it. If you may complain of the wait, be content that it is clear that every morsel served is prepared just in time, just for you. Given how many morsels are served, that's... plus
After reading rave reviews about this restaurant we booked well in advance and were not disappointed. As many reviewers pointed out this restaurant favors the number three: three floors, three menus degustation and each course comes in threes. I had the duck and the first course was the sea trout. The presentation was colorful and inventive, the food itself was... plus
Le Patriarche is a 5 Diamond restaurant that has had 'top billing' in Quebec City for years. The appeal to us was that everything is served in 'threes'. Duck three ways, boar three ways, lamb three ways, etc. The service was impeccable,as was the ambience, and the food also was fine, if a bit short on quantity. But, management and... plus
Small quaint restaurant, and just loved it. The wine and food everything.
Nothing like it in Ontario, that I know of. The service, the presentation, just couldn't be beat.
The staff are attentive to every detail and concern., but we didn't have any.
I want to return just to bring friends there.
This a restaurant of threes. So every course features the same food item but prepared three ways. It sounds odd but really works well. Each course is a culinary adventure and all wonderful. Not your typical French dining but it works. The staff are exceptionally professional and deliver great service. The wine recommendations were perfect for the meals. The interior... plus
Le Patriarche is not to be missed when in Quebec City.
Food is perfectly prepared. The flavors are rich, intense and delightful. While the downstairs is small, there is an upstairs dining room. We liked being up there. Quiet, and with a table by the window, we could watch out on the street below.
My wife, for her first course,...

What an experience! First let me tell you about the service, because quiet honestly, I've had some terrible service in the last 10 days that we were in Quebec City, so to have this kind of service was a welcome change! Very attentive, welcoming and not at all over bearing, answered all of our questions with ease...

I looked at the TripAdvisor review for a French restaurant in Quebec expecting the usual steak diane, coq au vin etc
This was what we expected but this was not what we got!
What we got was an excellent meal, French in style but not traditional. Service was excellent and efficient.
The restaurant was difficult to find - especially when...

Words truly can't describe how fabulous our meals were. We ate at three of Quebec's top restaurants, and this one was TOP of the list. There is a serious "WOW factor" for the food (taste, as well as presentation) here. And although I usually resist filling up on bread, I couldn't resist trying the cheddar bacon roll...wow, I really could... plus
The notable chef approaches the five course prix fixe dinner (and it took us a wonderful three hours) with presentation by "trilogy;" that is, each selection was brought cooked in three distinct manners. The service was superb, the cuisine matchless. And in an 1827 building. Pay attention, foodies, and don't miss Le Patriarche.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Our waiter was the owner, a charming gentleman. He explained every dish to us with great passion. We chose to let him suggest wines, and the suggestions were great. Some "out of the box" thinking, especially on the whites.
The concept here is based on the "trilogy". Everything is served in groups...

..... And we ate some incredible food!!! Service was excellent in the small dining room. Fantastic evening and a memorable meal.
We wanted to try something different and this restaurant was perfect for that! It is not a cheap meal but I'd say it is totally worth it! The flavours were very complex and interesting and the wine pairing was a great addition to our meal!
I was a bit confused by the reviews here where people said that the meal...

This is a tiny restaurant with only 8 tables. As others have said, everything comes in a trio. I had the scallop appetizer, and it was delicious. I had the game trio for my entrée, with caribou, wild boar and pigeon. All three were excellent. My husband had the fish trio and he liked all but one that he felt... plus
Our dinner at Le Patriarche on Sept. 14th may be the finest meal I've ever eaten in a restaurant — I can't remember anywhere else that excelled this. Though this is a haute cuisine resto, the atmosphere is warm, intimate, and unpretentious. The serving staff is most expert, and the pacing over nearly 3 hours was perfect.
The trilogy approach...

We dined at Le Patriarche while in Quebec for a brief vacation. I found it on Tripadvisor and it was better than expected. As mentioned this place serves each course in trilogy meaning three ways. So for example the lamb, which was my main course was pan seared, braised ( with a ravioli of pulled lamb inside), and served in a lamb sausage. Each are tasting size. It it difficult to understate the symphony of flavors in each dish and the creativity and... plus
My husband & I had a wonderful meal at Le Patriarche. The food is beautifully prepared. My husband is an excellent cook & he was very interested in the creativity of the dishes. This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. If you want a romantic dinner, this is the place. I counted only eight tables in this historic stone building. This was the best meal of our trip and both of us are still raving over the food. The atmosphere is sophisticated and chic, while the food is serious business. All reviewers have described how the food is presented, and it is a true symphony for the senses. Prepare to spend time and relax...
The service we received was excellent.
Loved the restaurant, nice romantic location, exquisite food presentation, art on a plate, loved the unique combination of ingredients and the concept of the trio. Pricey but well worth it.
Enjoyed a wonderful evening here to celebrate our wedding anniversary: delicious food, superb service, romantic atmosphere. One of the best meals we've had. Not rushed at all - 3 hrs flew by. Loved the 3 versions for all courses. Wine pairings were excellent as well. Go (run) to Le Patriarche - you will not be disappointed.
Ate here on the recommendation of the concierge at Le Chateau Frontenac, and we were not disappointed. Loved the decor, the service and the trilogy tasting concept. With each of the starter, main and dessert courses comprised of three variations, our five-course meal actually meant we were served twelve different plates! The skill and artistry are stunning. Of course, with... plus
We knew what we were in for coming to the restaurant and wasn't sure if the three ways preparation would work out in the restaurant's favor. For the most part it did, and the highs were really quite outstanding. The game meat trio and lamb trio were both sublime. Every piece of meat was perfectly cooked and interestingly prepared. The schtick is in the threes. The appetizers and mains all come with three parts. For example, a meat main consists of a portion of caribou, quail, and wild boar. Rather silly but the food was good. No complaints about the service. Pricey . . 50$ for the caribou main which I thought was a lot.
Although we had a reservation, the asked us to come back in a quarter. When we came back, we had to wait for about half an hour at the entrance. When we seated it took very long time to take the order. We wait so long that I coldn't believe it. Nobody was taking care of us. Fortunately the food... plus

This establishment has an unusual formula. The chef prepares similar foods on each course three different ways. We saw their little sign on the main street and were intrigued by their concept. We got a nice table upstairs by the window, in a very cozy and romantic setting. We were prepared to spend $250+ on dinner until we asked to change the soup selection on the prix fixe menu (for a cheaper soup) The server's response: We cannot do that!

The chef has decided to do everything in threes. So, for example, if you get the lamb plate as your main course (as I did), you get lamb prepared three ways on your plate. While it might seem as though he has over-intellectualized his approach, it really works very well.

We don't usually eat out at restaurants in this price bracket, but we were celebrating a milestone birthday on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, so we took the leap. Nice atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, and OMG the food! It's rare you travel and find a place that rivals your favorite restaurant at home, but Patriarche certainly deserves the accolades

Spent almost $100 for a dinner alone but I'd say it's well worth the money. Ordered lobster consomme, wild game trio (pheasant, wapiti & buffalo) and STRAWBERRY, RASPBERRY AND VEUVE CLIQUOT CHAMPAGNE. Everything was amazing.
I guess I will go there at least one time during each of my visit to Quebec City in the future.
Exquisite, amazing!
Great food, and service. And chief's creations for the trios is fantastic!
This restaurant has wonderful service and ambiance - it really is the quintessential romantic dinner restaurant. As mentioned by others everything comes in 3's so be prepared for quite a bit of food if you do a starter, main course and dessert.
