Had the Thai Green Curry Chicken and it was excellent. The restaurant is very clean, staff looks good all dressed in white jackets. You place your order at the counter and then run up once your order is ready.
I have had the pleasure of eating here several times. Each time is better than the time before. Friendly staff
Amazing food. The bonus, Toms hugs are always free!! Highly recommend this restaurant.
Located in a strip mail in a bit of a sketchy location, but so worth the trip. It was busy, the food fresh with wonderful flavours (and great prices) - best pad thai I've had outside of Thailand. Service super friendly and fast! Just GO THERE - you won't be disappointed! Was visiting Edmonton for work and only had a... more
We stopped here after a very long trip (thanks for the advice, trip advisor) and were well rewarded. The staff and owners (?) of the restaurant were so welcoming and helpful even though this is sort of a do-it-yourself restaurant. You order at the counter, get your own water but whatever; if all restaurants did it the same, it would... more
Was overall a great experience. The food was great as was the service. The portion sizes are good and the lemonade was awesome. The food was served in an appropriate length of time and was hot. All the staff were friendly and courteous, the restaurant is clean and welcoming. It is so refreshing to have authentic food and the staff... more
We wanted a good healthy meal with flavour. We checked Trip Advisor and opted to try this top of the list Thai restaurant. The owner was especially welcoming. The waiter was friendly. Yes the neighbourhood is a bit "sketchy" but the parking lot is well lit and it is easy to park right at the door. The place was clean... more
A happy coincidence brought us to this treasure of a restaurant yesterday. Having spent an exhausting aftetnoon sifting for the hidden gems at the nearby "VV Boutique", my daughter and I were parched and hungry. Putting our purchases in the vehicle, we turned to discuss where we could go to eat when, like a ray of Asian sunshine, there before... more
The restaurant is not pretentious and has a simple open seating style. The service was fast and friendly and the food arrived in a reasonable length of time. All the appetizers and entrees arrived hot and were very delicious. I had never had green onion cake; but as an appetizer it is definitely a revisit. Lan's appeared to attract a... more
I live in Australia but have a good friend who lives blocks from Lan's and who is a regular there. I'm jealous. I mean who wouldn't love to have this gem on their doorstep? Last year when I visited Edmonton, she took me to Lan's and I had the green curry. It was one of the best I've ever had.... more
I used to go to Vanguard, and then NAIT, and I would frequent Lan's Asian Grill as often as my pitiful student's wallet would allow. Nowhere else in the city have I been remembered both by order and by name. Tom is a hilariously awesome (and damn attractive) guy and I am absolutely wild about the vermicelli bowls here. I'm... more
I've gone to Lan's for at least 3 years now. It was a daily meal of mine when I lived in the area. Now, I make a special trip for it as often as possible. The food is incredible. I have never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the shrimp salad rolls, seafood bites, the vermicelli bowls (chicken,... more
I have to admit that we went to this place twice in the past and unfortunately it was closed.
Just recently a friend reminded me about Lan's.
Didn't think it would be busy for a Wednesday night so we went after work.
Half the restaurant was reserved and other half was getting full shortly after 6pm.
Seated fast, friendly server....

I came here for the first time because of the location, close to NAIT and downtown. I was definitely impressed! I have been back numerous times. Not only because of the great eats, but also for the incredible service by the staff! Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly. Tom and his staff always make my day! (Tom is also... more
While staying in Edmonton overnight, we used Trip Adviser to pick a good Asian restaurant in the downtown. Lan's had a great rating, and we decided to try it. The host was very friendly, and very helpful!!! The homemade iced Jasmine tea was superb, and the green curry was one of the best Thai dishes I have eaten!!!!! Our only... more
I love Asian cuisine and my friend has been telling me about this restaurant for a while so we finally got around to going out for supper together. What a fun experience. Tom, the owner, is hilarious and provides excellent customer service. The spring rolls were really good. And the price was excellent for what you receive. They definitely need... more
Stopped by for a quick dinner on the way out of town. Very friendly owners, went through the heat ratings and we decided together a .5 was enough. I had the Pad Thai - good, spicy, hot. Hubby had the Tom Yum friend rice, which, although he wasn't hungry when we arrived, managed to eat all of his meal +... more
I saw this place is highly recommended. Since it is close I thought I would try. You have to order at the front counter & pick up at the front counter. But the man remembers your name - and was polite & helpful. Best spring roll I have ever had. I heard they offered desserts but I couldn't see it... more
Delicious food, good prices. They are very popular, and really need more servers, but it is totally worth it if you have to wait an extra few minutes. Will be going back again and again.
Every once and a while I get a chance to eat at LAN's. Tom is always there to greet you. The food is always fresh and tastes great. I love the fact that you can have it prepared to what heat level one is comfortable with. The prices are very reasonable also. Try it, you wont be disappointed.
Tom, Monica and Sunny make the experience and atmosphere absolutely fantastic. I wish I had discovered this little gem of a restaurant sooner! Always very hospitable and treat you as if you are family! The green onion cakes are my favorite way to start! As for the rest of the menu? I can't wait to try it all! I will... more
I've been here multiple times and it's always great to visit. Tom is so nice and treats you very well. The food is alway delicious.
I know a past reviewer Sarah F gave this place a poor rating but she is so far off from authenticity. The pad Thai here is superb the vermi bowls fresh and delicious. Desserts offered...

Our first trip to Lans was a Wednesday night, and when a restaurant is busy on a Wed. night, you can assume you're in for something good. Certainly this was the case with our party of 6. Your meal may take a while to arrive, but everything is very fresh, hot and delicious. Most of our party ordered from the... more
I love eating here usually bout once a week the food is great. my personal favorite is the seafood vermecelli or the steak bites. the salad rolls cant be beat. its family owned, the staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean so with great food it makes this place perfect!
The staff are really friendly and the food is really good! Like the fact that they have two sizes for meals and the green onion cakes were awesome! Definitely will be going back for more!
Best new restaurant I've been to in ages. Food was fantastic and the service was friendly and fast. We started with the soup, which started the evening off on the right foot. The fried rice dish we shared has a unique and interesting spice (we had spice level 1). The green chili and cashew chicken, although standards in Thai restaurants... more
Definitely not authentic asian food. This is western "asian food". Portions are much smaller than other places. Better off picking any place in chinatown for better food and prices. If you like fancy decor and presentation then this place is for you. If you appreciate authentic asian food at reasonable prices then look elsewhere.
I try to go here whenever I'm in town. Hands down the best Asian in Edmonton, reasonably priced with good service.
Have been going here for a couple years now. It is family owned and operated.Tom is always a great host and makes time for all his guests. As the other people say on this site, he will introduce himself, tell you a little about the history of the place and ask you a little about yourself. My friend and I... more
Awesome everything. Great pad thai, awesome lemongrass beef, and the red and green curries are delicious!
Wanted to find an interesting place to buy lunch for a friend. Asked a friend of mine who is wired into the Asian restaurant scene to recommend a place, Lan's was his quick reply.
Located in a strip mall near NAIT, Lan's is family run. Tom at the front is a very engaging guy who gave us a bit of...

I enjoyed my meal here, and it was really busy. So thats always a good sign. Waiter was friendly and shook my hand after i paid and asked my name, a nice touch. He was very interactive with all the cunstomers and very attentitive, i will return
This is hands down the best Asian fare experience you can have in Edmonton. The food is delicious and the Owner is absolutely hilarious. We have such a great time every time. MUST try the Tom Yum Soup.
This is everything you want in a noodle shop: bright, very clean kitchen, and GREAT food. Love the pad thai, the Tom Yum soup and the mango smoothies. But hidden gem was the seafood nuggets appetizers. Everything is made even better the host/owner Tom (or Tommy as his friends call him). He is so charming.

I recently noticed the positive reviews for this restaurant. My wife and I took our daughter, a teacher in Hanoi, for a late lunch to try some of the food she enjoys in SE Asia.
This is a self-service family operated restaurant amid NAIT's easterly expansion.
We enjoyed three different dishes with various types of rice noodles and spice levels...

Such a great place it's too bad it moved location to downtown.. I'll more than likely not eat here again due to the move.
The food was good although slightly smaller portions with a little higher price than pagolac etc.. Pad Thai is nice and spicey albeit serving was smaller than I'd have liked. I've had to order two meals...

Have been having lunch at Lans for over a year on a fairly regular basis as it is close to work. Foods is consistantly excellent. Prices are very resonable and the atmosphere is very freindly. Tom, Monica and "Dad" are always pleasant and respectful of their patrons. For an authentic treat, it is well worth the trip.
Sawasdee!
I'm from Thailand and I been travelling in Canada and found the great food from LAN 's Asian Grill. Cooking by Master LAN ,Monica and Nung. Awesome food and real Thai style. I love those guys cooking Pad Thai and Papa salad...(10 out of 10)

Well worth a visit!! Don't skip this one!
I heard a good review of this family owned grill on a local radio show (CBC) and decided to use up an Entertainment Book coupon to try it out. The service and facilities were great as was the food. The location in a strip mall tucked behind a college (NAIT), between bargain stores is not one I would have expected... more
Fresh, delicious food. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. It's my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Edmonton to date.
Lan's Asian Grill is snuggled in a small strip mall midway between a Value Village and another second hand store. While not on the beaten track this is a delightful restaurant and worth a visit. Judging by the clientle when we were there, it is a very popular with the neighbourhood. The food is fresh and tasty. Recommended are the... more
This place combines the perfect combination in a restaurant for me...excellent food with excellent prices!
