We had a room for 2 nights in June. The motel section across the street from the hotel and restaurant is getting tired but clean. There is not much to pick from but the drive to Stewart is great. I have never seen so many glaciers so close to a highway.
The King Edward Hotel - Motel
On a motorcycle tour we stayed at this motel. Just can’t understand the poor reviews.
We found this location very clean modern and comfortable with very obliging staff. The restraint average but good menu. Would defiantly stay again. TIP to enjoy the wild life travel early 5/6 A.M.
This place is the fist place you roll up on when you come into Stewart. It is old and shabby but fairly clean and the staff seem.pretty nice. There is nothing special about this place, a double bed, kitchenette and flat-screen tv. They have CNN A&E Spike and a few other mainstream cable networks. There is free wifi but the... more
We stayed a night in the hotel part of this place and it is okay for the price but on the whole is starting to look old and tired inside.
Saying that though it is still probably the best place to stay in this small town.
Downstairs it has a laundry and restaurant which serves good greasy food at an...

With not a lot of selection it get the job done. Very basic, a bit dated but for the middle of no where it pretty good. A real small town feel which is perfect for the location. Bar downstairs along with restaurant you have most of Stewart under the one roof
One of the most welcoming receptions I've met , a pity the pillow in the motel was the worst I had on this trip. The room was pretty much as I expected for the location, old, small but o.k. A good location and the drive down to Stewart and the visit to the nearby Salmon Glacier extremely worthwhile. One convenience... more
Small, dark but clean rooms. Basic but acceptable for 2 nights stay. Helpful staff. Restaurant and bar on premises, average. Close to shops, restaurants/ cafes and Hyder in Alaska. Stays open in winter
This is not a review of the hotel itself, we never stayed in the hotel we just went to the restaurant.
This was the restaurant we went to on our first night in Stewart. We each ordered the King Crab, and I was pretty disappointed with the portion size. The crab leg was obviously from a very large crab, but...

On a fishing & touring visit to the Stewart / Hyder area we stayed at the King Edward Motel (across the street from the hotel) part of the time, and in the Rainey Creek campground nearby the rest of the time. The room was pretty utilitarian, but comfortable and clean. The bathroom was large enough, though not roomy. The kitchenette... more
I had a chance to take a look into the kitchen and my god, it is a dirty run down place and the meals are way overpriced for such a cheap Mickey Mouse outfit. The owners are very unfriendly and rude, kinda very cheap people and only focused on money but no service. The rooms are primitive, the view is... more
I thought to order the expensive Omelette (Shrimp and Crab)....Well there were many Tasteless Shrimp and no crab; the potatoes were great, but I would guess they were fried in lard......
The service was that of a typical Canadian restaurant and the atmosphere was that of a typical roadside dive.
We checked into the Hotel, but after a few minutes...

I stayed in the motel portion of the complex across the street from the main hotel. The room was basic but clean. It was quiet and the employees were helpful. It was relatively expensive ($119 US) but, given the very limited options available in the Stewart, BC/Hyder, AK area, you are sort of a captive audience.
We were mostly happy with this motel. We received a kitchenette unit and the beds were comfortable enough. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful and the price is decent. The only complaint that I have is that it is a rather noisy place to stay. Many people are getting up at very early (4:30 am -... more
We were lucky to get the last room at the King Edward in the motel building cross the street from the hotel. It was a smoking room but the friendly, pleasant woman at the desk told us that they ozonate the room so it doesn't smell. She wasn't exaggerating. We only got a couple of whiffs of old smoke. The... more
We stayed at the King Edward Motel, which is located at the same road, opposite the hotel. The motel is a little more expensive than the hotel (119 against 99 CAD, plus tax) but you get a nice kitchenette with all the gear you need, a separated living- and bedroom, a flatscreen television and there even was a bag of... more
Stewart is quite remote with the nearest large town being several hours away. The King Edward Hotel would be a complete rip-off if it were in Vancouver or Whistler, but in a remote place like Stewart, it is not a bad option. The rooms are spacious and clean and offer cable TV with wireless internet. I did not like the... more
We went to Stewart on the advice of a TA buddy whilst travelling from Prince George to Prince Rupert.
Good run up there and a picturesque drive into Stewart past lakes and mountains that seem to come to road.
Accomodation consists of hotel and motel across the road.
We chose the motel which is totally self contained with a small...

The trip down the Glacier Highway was truly amazing but upon reaching Stewart I was a little worried as to what the accommodations would be like. I need not have worried as they were great. You book in at the hotel to stay in the motel that is directly across the road. The staff are friendly and full of helpful... more
We Stayed at this hotel in august 2011 on our trip from vancouver island

We didn't stay in the accommodations at this location, however, we ate twice in their cafe at the hotel. The food was really good, and reasonably priced. This is one of the restaurants where a lot of the locals go to, and tourists as well.
If you want food reasonably priced, with good customer service and good tasting food, then...

The motel was quite nice. Clean. decent amount of room. Kitchenette which we did not use. The hotel has a decent restaurant. One flaw was the worst internet connection I have ever experienced. Keep in mind we had just traveled for six weeks in very remote parts of the Yukon. When I mentioned that it seemed that there was a... more
Clean rooms, older style rooms, service was okay and the food in the bar was very good.
We stayed here for one night as part of a driving trip from Prince Rupert to Skagway, Alaska in July 2010. The drive into Stewart and the scenery was amazing. We stayed in the motel unit, it was very good and clean, beds were fine, and close to a few places in town, but it is a very small town.... more
After arriving late due to the last place being closed this hotel was welcoming to see. Were able to get a room in the motel side with door to the outside so we could watch our camper and for $89 got a room with kitchnette and a pullout couch. Did the trick and nice and clean. Also enjoyed great service... more
We ran out of gas and had to make a last call reservation at King Edward. Rooms were clean and all the staff was really helpful. A good value for money proposition. They have a restaurant where you can eat a fabulous breakfast...simply great! In Stewart you don't have that many options to stay...we can say we were lucky to... more
Clean facility, friendly staff. Rooms tiny, furnitrure servicable. Town is in a spectacular location, but the room windows are minute, and the ones in back only let you see the parking lot!
