They forgot my order. Such inexperienced staff. The portions are so small for the price. And the place is dirty and tacky.
The qulality of fish was pretty good though.
Quite possibly the worst sushi I have had in Vancouver. The Kani sunomono was not in fact a sunomono at all, and the kani tasted terribly old and fishy. The "best spicy tuna roll in town", was hardly that. The red tuna was in the freezer too long and frost burnt. It was chewy and I had to remove the tuna from the roll. They charged a dollar extra for extra ginger (and it was not extra), they... more
The place is crammed, so no room for a large company, and even a larger person, they also close in the afternoon and reopen at five (exactly at five, mind you, I had to stand outside in cold weather once to wait for them to open). The food is OK, I usually eat donburi, and so far so good.
A small place with a big menu. The have amazing food and an amazing staff. I recommend everything.
We walked in to this place on a rainy day and got ourselves some warm green tea. The sushi was very good and the rolls as well. I wished I had been more hungry so I could've tried more food but everything we had was great including the miso soup.
Came here for a quick bite before work. My quick bite didn't turn out to be quick... I had ordered a yam tempera roll and chicken teriyaki with rice. I had ended up taking my chicken teriyaki to go because it took 30+mins to make. Good thing I work just a block away or else I would've been late. Anyways on to the service .... It was just terrible it took them 10 mins to get me a menu. Plus when... more
I went this place on girls night as one of my friends loves this place.
Small place so you will be surprised when you wait for 20 minutes to order beer.
For me, rolls were good, but somehow I felt Sashimi was kinda warm which was weird.
They had two servers, one provided the slowest service (can be a new staff under the training) and the other one provide the worst customer service. Four of us...

Went in for a takeaway sushi California roll. It was 7.38 and was awful. Way too much mayo, the crab tasted like it was laced with tuna and tasted fishy and bad. Will never go there again. Yuk
I had horrible service here. The food is totally fine -- though nothing particularly special, and for $5 for a simple salmon roll, it's no bargain.
But the service... I ordered my food and waited a very very long time to get it--including the miso soup which I assume wasn't being made from scratch. When part of my order finally came, it was the wrong thing. I pointed that out to the server and...

It's a 3.5 rating. I ordered their Super Spicy Tuna roll. The roll is good but nothing special for me. My friend loves their Aburi Toro though.
Great food in a quaint spot in the outskirts of Yaletown. Ducked in for a quick bite and ended up staying for 5 different dishes. Delicious!
I actually meant to review Jako. Oops. Yelp won't let me delete, nice app, Yelp.
The food is good. They have lunch specials that seems like a good way to go if you are trying to save some money.
It's not very big inside so if you come during busy lunch or dinner rush, you may find yourself waiting for a table.
I thought it was good but not exceptional. Better than some of the other mediocre Japanese restaurants in the area but wouldn't call this my favourite.
Had an amazing experience there.
Got there just as they opened for dinner time. Everything that came out tasted extremely fresh. The special was Bluefin Tuna Nigiri (2pc for $10), probably the best slice of fish I've had up to date. Uni-fornia Roll was also very good. Food is worth the price, and will definitely be back there again.
Place isn't very big, so don't expect seating for large...

Sometimes ya gotta wonder why things are the ways they are. I penned my previous review of Juno many many blue moons ago. My old review was trapped in time and it's not been thought of or looked at unless you've been checking out your DT sushi options on Yelp.
Well lo and behold I've got a new review and rating up my sleeve and this old dog has a new trick. It's called I believe transformation...

Shhhhh. Keep this place a secret. It's a gem. Friendly, not overcrowded and actual decent seating compared to many other Davie Street sushi joints.
Oh, and they serve delicious sushi!
You'll come for lunch and you won't want to go back to work. (Lunch specials are very reasonably priced and make ordering easy)
Best sushi rolls and karaage in town. The roll size is on the smaller side, but better quality and flavour! My favorite is the karaage lunch special, and free miso soup! Dinner has more roll options, and they are all super delish. Spicy salmon roll and the real crab roll are our favorites! Always kind and prompt service!
Came here for for lunch today. I usually make my way here about once every one or two months. Nestled in the middle of a small commercial complex that is off the Granville Strip and just before Yaletown, it's kind of well hidden and you won't really notice it if you're just walking by.
Anyway I kind of consider this restaurant a hidden gem since most people would easily suggest other more...

I came here after watching a movie at the VIFF. I really enjoyed this place. It's got a very cozy atmosphere and the combination of flavours is stunning. The quality of the fish is great for the value of the meal.
We started with the aburi toro. And shared the uni-fornia roll, and super spicy tuna roll as our main. I felt the aburi toro and uni-fornia roll had a great combination of flavour....

The Yaki Udon Carbonara! Whooohoooo! I'd never seen this on any menu, so I thought that I'd better give it a shot, and was so glad I did. Really, really delicious...and not expensive.
The Italian-Japanese fusion is the best of both - elegant and clean, satisfying and decadent. The carbonara is done well, with the egg yolk lightly coating the udon and gathering up the lightly grated cheese....

Love, love, LOVE me some Juno! I have eaten here 2-3 times/week for the last several years. What more can be said?
They make perfect pork belly! I moved to Dallas from Arizona and San Francisco but I can't find perfect pork belly in wine sauce anywhere. I am craving for it. While writing this review.
Good Japanese restaurant around Yaletown area. The sushi is really good and fresh, but my favorite dish is the Katsudon because it comes with the right amount of rice, sauce and meat. Usually other places put a huge amount of rice in the dish and I end up eating just half of it. I just do not like the service. The staff don't give you that much attention and it doesn't make that much sense... more
This place isn't at the low end of the price scale but is the sushi ever good. Love their items that mention best in town, because they truly are.
Food is not bad, depends on what you order. but the services... i think there is room for improvement.
With so many sushi joints in the city, I can only assume how hard it is to stay competitive and providing good fish is one of the ways.
I was catching up with a friend on a rainy night that makes you crave miso soup so decided to give this place a try.
The decor is nicer than your average hole in the wall sushi joint and the service was way better. I like the dark red colour of the walls that...

I have been here many times over the last few years. Originally I was lured in by their fabulous special. Which is $10 for a roll, two pieces of sushi, and either a pint of beer, glass of wine or sake. The sushi platter plates are also a great deal. However I must admit that lately the place is looking a bit rough around the edges. I would like to see them shut it down for a week and do a major... more
I discovered Juno through my brother, who's a regular at this restaurant.
It's a small restaurant, and might only fit 20 people (max). The sushi is good, with the highlights being the super-spicy tuna and the unagi. They've got some combos that are quite reasonably priced between $20-22 for 24 pieces. The service is friendly and professional, and the setting...

With so many sushi restaurants in Vancouver it can be hard to find an authentic restaurants that is owned and run by a true Japanese sushi chef. Juno is one of these hidden gems.
The quality of sashimi here is definitely worth the price. They only serve wild sockeye salmon and it's always fresh.
In the winter they have fresh uni, not previously frozen like most places, that they serve in the...

Ech, poorly cooked food and they refused to take it off the bill. No thank you.
I've been here twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch and I really like this place! Their food is incredible and the service and ambiance are great! Reasonable pieces as well. Please go!
Came here after arriving in Vancouver on a late flight. Great because I was craving something light and I wanted fresh seafood, which Vancouver is known for.
The spinach goma-ae was blanched just right to retain the natural freshness of the spinach and yet the seasoning and sesame seeds were able to enhance those favors. And the pistachio added the right amount of nuttiness to the mix.

Okay, so I've been to Japan. I've dabbled in Southeast Asia...and I go to med school in Boston's Chinatown....so in short, I have been surrounded my Asian foodstuffs before - however, nothing prepared me for arriving in Vancouver and having every other storefront offer me sweet, sweet sush at reasonable prices - and while I was told by my host that literally anywhere is good, I happen to think... more
While the sushi here was pretty good, the rest of the food was just mediocre, with the exception of the salad dressing, which was excellent. The prices are very reasonable though, especially for downtown Vancouver. This is definitely not somewhere you bring kids, although my kids were fine because they love real sushi. I don't think I would go back... more
Big junk of metal found in my sushi roll. Sashimi tasted like it was sitting out all day and had a fowl fishy odor. The hakkigai was dirty. Not cleaned properly had sand or dirt All in it.

A few standouts on the menu like the beef carapaccio and teriyaki make this place a favorite, but they're great for consistant, fresh sushi at reasonable prices.
I agree with other tripadvisors that this place is a hidden little gem with good food and good atmosphere. The only one thing i have to say is the place is just too tiny and you could hardly walk around to get to the bathroom! Since they have so many customers, I suggest they expand their joint a little and... more
Wow. I swore I ripped this place a new as*hole a while back but I guess it was only in my head. Now I'll do it on digital ink.
I have many coworkers who LOVE this place. So either I have problems (which I will not deny) or they have a s@!%!y taste palette (which is probably more true).
My first main complaint about this place is their service. I've been here twice. The first time I was...

The beef carpaccio is why I keep going back, but every time I go I try to taste something new. I've never been disappointed and it's been two years. What sets Juno apart from everyone else is their dedication to fresh, and preservative free dishes. You won't leave with a taste of mayo in your mouth (used at most restaurants for all sushi rolls)
Atmosphere: very very clean but not sterile...

Especially strong sushi joint in a neighborhood with a lot of options. The staff is especially friendly, and it's open on Sundays/holiday/and mondays (this is usually one of the hardest things to find at the top Sushi places throughout town. Lunch deals are good, and sake is cheap and quality!
They had a good selection of unique sushi items service was good, open late, bathroom could be a little cleaner. It was a bit expensive for sushi but good overall.
This is a good option for sushi in the neighbourhood. It sits on the 3-block stretch on Davie in Yaletown where a number of cheap sushi places compete for quantity and value. Juno's quality is miles above the others on this street.
It's a small place, and they use great ingredients. The sashimi is always really fresh, they use real crabmeat for their California rolls, and everything just has a...

Amazing restaurant! The food is amazing! Great staff! If you are feeling adventurous, order omakase (loosely translated, 'I'll leave it up to you), where the chef chooses what to serve you. One of the best sushi restaurants in Vancouver. Highly recommended.
The food here was great, fresh and a little bit different some of the appi's i have never seen in sushi places, they had these fried balls with something similar to pumpkin in they were really good.
Cute little place and nice atmosphere
I read such great reviews about this place and it's the reason why I went. I have to say I was disappointed......
I had the spicy tuna roll to start. It was not bad, but I have had a lot better in this city.
For a main I had the chicken teryaki. Apparently the best in the city!
I was expecting something that wasn't fried, greasy with skin still on, something healthy. Alas I got fried, greasy...

Juno CRUSHES sushi!
This chef is amazing. We were in town in Vancouver for the weekend. Being from Hawai'i you could say we eat a lot of sushi and love it. This small little shop we happened in to by chance on a cold rainy night, and it was, hands down, some of the best sushi I've ever had prepared. Ever. I'm still dreaming about it.

I came here after it was recommended by a friend. I was not disappointed. I had several pieces of different types of nigiri, everything was very fresh. The service was great as well. I will definitely be going back. It is a little small though, so make a reservation.
The sushi was above avg but not the best I ever had. The service was good. The music choice was interesting. Overall it is worth checking out.
BTW I ate here in 2010 and wrote the review then. I just realized that yelp did not post it for me.
The food was fresh, fresh, fresh. It was quite a treat. Flavours were everything you would expect, with a few interesting twists: bits of salty seaweed, other things I could not identify, but that really worked. The salmon roll was top notch. The tuna sashimi did not disappoint. I will go back.
I first visited Juno with local friends back in the autumn, and wanted to share my delight from then with a friend during our recent visit. The resto's easy to miss, since it's very narrow, but once you're in, it's a fabulous little jewel. Limited seating, so be prepared to wait a bit or be prudent and make reservations. The... more
The food was all freshly prepared in front, which although means service is slightly slow, you know you are getting fresh sushi, as opposed to previously prepared. Quite an experience in this small shop but top notch food and service. We have been there several times and each time is a pleasant surprise! Quite a small shop, so be there earlier if you want to have dinner
As with other reviews of this restaurant, the sushi is pretty good overall but the service is a touch slow. Most everything we ordered was great, but their BC Roll left something to be desired. Cost could be a bit lower considering the plethora of great sushi the area has to offer.
I'm going to echo the comments of the last reviewer - the sushi was ok but the service wasn't. Our sushi, salads, and soup were all fresh. The sushi wasn't memorable but it was fine. Unfortunately our server appeared to forget a number of items and we had to remind her about parts of our order throughout the meal. Overall,... more
This is a very small restaurant that has a very cramped and crowded feeling...you can barely squeeze by the tables on your way to the restrooms. Don't believe me? I had to request to have this place added to TripAdvisor - apparently people in Vancouver know about it and are keeping it hush-hush, but I'm happy to share.
