Absolutely perfect. Everyone raved about the food. Words aren't enough to describe how amazing Juniper and their staff is!
Just had lunch at Juniper - wonderful! I had the excellent black bean chili quesadilla and the potato donut with maple sauce. The food and service were impeccable. Will return often.
We go to Juniper regularly and we are always surprised with the quality and innovation of the food. Dishes are always original and with fantastic flavours. Service is excellent and the waiters always answer your questions with excellent knowledge of the menu. Decor is elegant and comfortable. Price is low for the quality you get. If you are visiting Ottawa... more
At the spur of the moment, we decided to go out for dinner and ended up at Junipers. We know the food will be delicious, the service good and there is always a great selection wine. This visit was no different. We both wanted to try all the different appetizers so we shared four different ones. We had the Mushroom... more
I came here on a recommendation when I was taking two colleagues out to dinner. It a nice airy, space (it used to be a care dealership) and they have a done a nice job of re-appointing the space. The day we came it was pouring with rain, but the patio looked like it be a great place to sit... more
A very nice space, open, airy and sleek in a residential district. Service is professional, attentive and friendly. Crispy ravioli and greens from a local farm we're light and balanced appetizers. The focus is obviously the quality of the products. The steelhead trout was delicate and perfectly prepared and the haddock on quinoa, though on the spicy side for such... more
Made reservations and was asked if it was for a special occasion. It was an anniversary. Arrived and was seated and a nice table in front of the large windows. Very spacious, you don't feel on top of other guests. Service throughout the evening was excellent. Very attentive. The appetizers were very good. They did modify the menu based on... more
The restaurant was beautiful! It just took my breath away, and I loved the decor. The waitress who served us, was nice. However, made a large error. She came and asked if we had any questions and when I said oh I'm stuck between these two dishes - told me nothing about them but said to choose the duck, as... more
I bought a mystery date from Groupon $85 for $49. What a pleasant surprise. We we greeted by a friendly host to a table waited by a very diligent server Massimo. We had cocktails and a complimentary amuse bouche. Need I say yum! Then our appys and entrees came. I was allowed to substitute because I dislike anything tomato with... more
We went to Juniper after a ceremony to honor my sister. As the ceremony ended up in time, and we had anticipated that it would run late, we were at the restaurant 1 hour early. We therefore sat in the 'bar area' for drinks and appetizers. They even turned around couches for us to sit all together!
They have a...

Last night my husband and I went to Junipers for a special anniversary dinner. It is a beautiful restaurant with convenient off street parking.
No complaints about our cocktails, amuse bouches or appetisers which were all exccellent. One of our 2 servers was very loud but friendly (even called me "hun" at one point, which I didn't take too kindly to,...

Food was not great at all, especially considering all of the hype.
Service was pathetic.
The decor and feel of the room was so uncomfortable, we could hardly wait to leave.
We had a reservation for 7:30 on Saturday evening. On arrival one of the staff took our coats and carefully hung them in their smallish coat area. Our table was ready and the servers were very relaxed and helpful in explaining the menu and wine list. The appetizers were delicious (a mushroom combination on a tender puff pastry). The main... more
This kitchen never disappoints - the service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is open concept, but privacy is not compromised. We never feel we're part of another table's conversation, even when the place is full. The added bonus is we can bring our own favourite vintage bottle and for an $18.00 corkage fee, can enjoy a great bottle... more
Our visit was on January 11, 2014. This was our first date night since the birth of our son and we could not have been more disappointed with the service. Our waiter began by asking what "grub" we had decided on and informed us that the sommelier was working that night. Being wine enthusiasts we look forward to recommendations from... more
Had the pleasure of attending a wedding here recently. The service & the food were outstanding. The appetizers were delicious (we tried approximately 6 different appies), the beef tar tar was hands down the best I've ever had, roast beef was done to a perfect medium-rare, oysters were fresh & tasty & the creme brûlée was divine! If you go,... more
In the interest of full disclosure, I was married in this restaurant earlier this year so I am predisposed to loving it because of the great memories they made for us and all of the "best wedding ever" comments we got from friends. In fact, this visit was to enjoy the restaurant with friends who had attended our wedding and... more
We had a client Christmas luncheon at Juniper and once again, it was excellent. The warm dip (artichoke and spinach) and pate plate appetizers were delicious. The main courses were simple (essentially haddock & chips and bacon & egg sandwich) but very nicely prepared. The service was excellent and although the restaurant was crowded, we were given all the attention... more
It is a beautiful, modern restaurant with paintings on the wall. Great service. Decent prices. We enjoyed the appetizers: artichoke and spinach dip and also the charcuterie, which included delicious smoked duck. I didn’t enjoy as much the haddock tempura – it had a strange smell.
Had dinner there recently, and we should have heeded the foreshadowing of rotting chrysanthemums gracing the doorway.
Service was pleasant but untrained, I suspect - the waiter was a lovely lad, however, to the "sommelier:" why bother professing expertise and then going to all the trouble of flipping a dandy napkin over your arm to pour the wine if you...

Never disappointing and always a welcome and friendly smile. Love the amuse bouche concoctions, the creativity of the starters, and the tenderness of the beef main dish. Will definitely be back.
For the money. you usually do expect more food or more outstanding food. On the night we were there, 90% of the patrons were well into their 70's and the food seemed to have been prepared for their palates. Service was nice and the waiter explained the menu but he turned it into an 'I need attention' overkill performance. In... more
We went with a group of friends. Excellent service. The wine list is substantial. The food was eclectic and very tasty. Would recommend without hesitation.
I organized an outing for a group of people who used to work together, at Juniper's, for a long lunch. What we got was good food, no undue pressure to move along and pleasant...hear me...pleasant service. Three of us had the risotto and it was a fine thing. It is hard to beat truffle oil. One of our friends had the trout and spoke so highly of it that we all wished we had ordered it. ( the... more
I ordered the pork tenderloin and it was terrible... overcooked, dry, tasteless. I mentioned it to our waiter and she informed the chef, but no feedback was provided to me, and I was charged the full amount for an entree that stayed in my plate... pretty sad.
Great food...excellent service.....pricey.....but worth it
I went to Juniper on the 3rd of may with my friend Julie and Yves, and we simply love the place! The food, the ambiance and the service was great.Every single bite i took was full of flavor! The service was done in french in a effortless way!
Delightful place, we will be back!!!!
The restaurant is located in Ottawa's Westboro district in a building formally used as a BMW car dealership. As you walk in you will come to a large bar area in the middle of the room, The host brought us to our table where the six of us enjoyed ample space to get comfortable and prepare for a night of... more
A friend and I recently had lunch at Juniper and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had the steak and grilled veg sandwich with (oh the decadence) french fries with a chipotle aioli and my friend had the garlic bacon and potato soup and the smoked chicken and mango sandwich. The food was very well prepared and presented. The fries were... more
This restaurant has not lost any of its first class appeal from the day it opened. The menu is so varied and the plates are well presented. It is pricy but can be expected for the quality of the food. The atmosphere was not as inviting as I would like but that is individual taste.
My date and I were put off by the attitude of the waiter, we were not impressed with the food or portion sizes, and we won't be going back. The ambiance of this former car dealership is sterile.
There are other better places in Westboro, some even less expensive.
We recently went to eat at Juniper Restaurant & Wine Bar, in Ottawa. It was overall a pleasant experience but the food lacked that special taste. It was to put it bluntly, "a bit flat". Given the higher prices and reputation, we expected much more.
I had the lamb shank while my wife had the duck. Both,as stated, were solidly...

My husband and I went for a nice dinner out and enjoyed the great food and wine here. Prices are high but food is well made and presented. We were annoyed though that even after ordering the oysters and the charcuterie (not time consuming dishes to make) that it took almost an hour to receive the appetizers. After that, the... more
The price is no reflection to the food received. I was quite disappointed. I had long looked at the Juniper restaurant and said "I'm going to go there". It was unfortunate that the long desire didn't meet the expectations. I was hoping for high quality and not to require a hamburger at the Works after so that I felt like... more
$557 for dinner for two on New Year's eve. 'nuff said. When each of the 4 couples who shared the evening with us received thier bills, the reaction was the same - disbelief. The set menu contained 6 courses which, on the surface, appeared as if we were in for a great meal. Boy were we ever wrong. Portions were laughable. ie - a single solitary crab cake served as an appetizer was the size of a... more
My husband and I loved this restaurant - lots of great menu choices for all types of palates. I love the focus on local fare and the chef made ice cream with locally sourced ingredients the night we were there! Great wine selection and ambiance. Love the open windows and cool vibe of the restaurant. Would definitely go again!!
This was my first time at this restaurant. The staff was amazing. The atmosphere was great but the food. The food was the best I'd had in a long time. The beef was done to perfection. Right from the start from the delivery of the bread and the salad to the dessert. Everything came out at the proper temperature and... more
I have to admit that I was skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised. I came for lunch and it was outstanding. Service was excellent and the restaurant has a lot of windows so it feels open. No one in my party was disappointed.
I am a bit biased about Juniper Kitchen and Wine Bar in part because I was married, had my reception and danced the night away all on their lovely premises. The wedding was a little over two years ago but friends and family still remark on the wonderful food that they enjoyed at the wedding.
Fast forward to today where...

Go to Juniper if you like attentive, friendly service and food that always arrives well presented and delicious!
We dined as a party of four, the drinks were excellent and the wine selection as suggested by the sommelier was spot on. Service was very good, though attention drifted near the end (we waited for our bill). Food was well presented and properly cooked, though flavours were a bit muted compared to other recent experiences. Sorry for the lack... more
Webwent there as a group of 8 for the birthday of our friends. We foud it cool that you could bring your own wine, but found it a little expensive at 17$ corkingn fee. I had my birthday dinner here. Really satisfied by the service and the chef. The food was well prepared and paired.
I would definitely visit again.
Enjoy the atmosphere, the quiet calm, the low lighting, the wines, the great live piano music by Brian Browne on Thursday nights, and some interesting appetizers. I have not, however, had a full meal, but the menu looks good.
I had the wonderful opportunity to dine at Juniper in May. We had a table in the courtyard as we did not have a reservation. The evening was cool but we were sheltered. Our food plates were small but very beautifully presented and interesting flavour combinations. I would come here again for a special dinner with loved ones.
My husband and I went for dinner last weekend. This restaurant offers a wonderful variety of food which is presented beautifully. The decor is modern, service great and one does not feel rushed to finish your meal. We have enjoyed every meal we have had at Junipers. Highly recommend it!
Went to a company dinner so did not have to pay. This was icing on the cake as the food was tasty and just enough to not leave me feeling to full. I had the beef tenderloin and it was superb. I followed this up with the tart tatin which was scrumptious!
Four of decided to try Juniper on a Sunday evening because our first two choices were closed on Sunday's. When we arrived we were seated beside a large group in the middle of the restaurant and we asked the hostess if we could sit in a booth instead she said that they were booked. Our waiter moved us shortly after... more
I love the look of the restaurant, the menu, the whole experience. The food is of great quality and preparation is top notch. I enjoy each visit.
This is a great place for a business lunch or dinner. Lots of space and privacy for diners. The food is wonderful though a little pricey.
I chose this restaurant for a staff lunch and while I always enjoy being in on the choice, I invariably feel responsible if folks have a bad experience. There were no worries here! The food, service and ambiance were all top notch. It was a wonderful experience and lunch turns out to be the best value to be had at... more
The restaurant can be a bit hard to find, depending upon the direction from which you are coming. Once there, the atmosphere is pleasant, the service was good, the advice on wine pairings was helpful. They've managed to create a lovely atmosphere right on a fairly busy road in a building shared with a car dealership!
I enjoyed the amuse...

This was the first time I was asked up front whether or not any members of my party had any allergies or were celebrating a special occasion. Nice touch.
Location
For tourists, it is in Westboro village so I would say it caters more to the residents of the neighborhood, about 5-10 minutes drive west of the downtown core....

Took the family for a nice meal for a birthday celebration. Although, the reservation was made over 10 days earlier we were sat by the kitchen, with the view of the next door parking lot.
Insufferable smell of the kitchen throughout the dinner, leaving our clothes smelling and needing a dry-cleaning. Truly ruined our Birthday celebration. We've had dinner there...

I always love their amuse bouche. This time is was a type of pickled fish and veggie. A great way to start. I had the charcuterie variety plate as my appetizers, while my spouse had a salad. My husband and I went out to Juniper with friends last weekend. The service was good, no issues whatsoever. Juniper had a wedding reception occurring which had booked up half of the restaurant. This created major delays and we ended waiting an hour and a half for our entrées. The appetizers and drinks were delivered promptly but to wait an... more
Came here with a company/group event in the winter and I was pleasantly surprised with the dishes served down to the desert. Great selection of beers and scotches.
Our recent experience was extremely disappointing. The food was mediocre and over priced. I ordered the duck breast topped with fois gras for $33. I was informed that the kitchen was out of fois gras so the price of the dish had been reduced to $32. I mean really? Why even both. It was only ok and was served cold. My hubby's $39 steak was nicely prepared but small. The sides on both dishes were... more
Most of our food was good, some was not (overcooked and sent back). Their prices are high for the quality.
classy place, good service, quality food and ingredients. An enjoyable evening!
Extremely disappointing, especially for the price. Food was poorly prepared and totally uninspired. Poor value with views of used car lots and gas station.
super bravo trés bon resto bouffe et service.
trés belle carte des vins
Excellent food, friendly staff. A very enjoyable experience.
A common concept of personal financial management is to check all receipts against your credit card statement to verify that what you are charged on your statement is correct. As everyone is human mistakes can be made. Enjoy the visit to a fine restaurant, however ensure that you keep the signed credit slip should you pay with a credit card, and ensure that your credit card statement coincides... more

The trend toward using only fresh local market ingredients is a welcome one, and Juniper excels. The menu changes frequently, sometimes daily, to take advantage of seasonal availability, but might include house smoked sea scallops, Caribbean spiced duck leg confit with guava-banana catsup, pan roasted wild salmon with Québec mushrooms, or roasted veal with osso bucco ravioli in porcini broth... more
