"Charming, delightful and very French" sum up this "intimate" Bloor-Yorkville long-timer proffering "simply delicious" "traditional" dishes that remind diners of being "in Paris"; if the decor lags behind, "wonderful hosts" Jacques and Martine make up for it by creating a "pleasant" atmosphere and overall "unforgettable experience."
We found this restaurant through Trip Advisor and it had pretty good reviews. It is a tiny place with a smallish menu but the food was absolutely fabulous. Very tasty and the desserts a delight. A great taste of France in Yorkville. service was attentive and friendly and the location very quaint.
Saw the recommendations on trip advisor and decided I must give it a try whilst visiting a friend who is in Toronto. On a busy Saturday evening we arrived, was greeted by friendly staff. Can't recommend the French Onion Soup enough - it's a must have. Warm bread was on offer (very tasty), service outstanding and so attentive. It was... more
I recently found this gem in the heart of yorkville and my only regret was that I had not found it any sooner. If you want some comforting and delicious French food in an intimate environment, with such jolly and friendly staff, this is the place! Very reasonable place and excellent dessert selection. You'll feel like you're by your grandma's... more
The four of us showed up around 8 PM and the place was packed. The maitresse told us we should wait across the street in an area where she could see us and she would let us know when a table opened up.
About 30 minutes later she came downstairs and motioned for us to come in. We had a...

Three of us enjoyed a most pleasant dinner in this intimate little restaurant on the second floor of an old house in the Yorkville area of mid-town Toronto. The ambience was a little old fashioned which probably suited the age of many of the patrons. The food was excellent, especially the smoked trout and the sea scallops. The entrecote steak... more
My Mom and i had lunch at Jacques Bistro Du Parc last week. Mom had a lobster omelette and I had the quiche of the day. Fresh bread is brought to the table. I like to come to this restaurant every month or so - the food is always delicious. The waitresses are usually from France and are very charming... more
My boyfriend and I came here after seeing all the glowing reviews on trip advisor, and we were so glad we did! We made reservations and when we arrived our table wasn't quite ready but the staff we kind enough to seat us at a temporary table while we waited and comped us each a glass of wine. I went... more
We had a lovely meal from a warm welcome to attentive service that continued throughout the meal. Both of us had French onion soup because it's not offered everywhere. My husband ordered the halibut special, and I had a spinach and cheese omelette. Both were well prepared and presented. Fresh bread and butter, lovely wine reasonably priced wine, apple tart... more
I chose this restaurant because my friend is French and he loves sweetbreads. He was so happy that Jacques Bistro has sweetbreads on the menu all the time. I took him here as a celebration.. The restaurant itself is tiny and the tables are close together. However the ambience is very pleasant and it's great for people watching. The food... more
My husband and I had dinner here on a weekend getaway. Service was outstanding and the food was some of the best we've ever had. The carrot/ginger soup was a tad too gingery but everything else was superb. Be sure to try the creme caramel dessert (with orange)! The bread is fresh baguettes right out of the oven...to die for.... more
Great place, great food and amazing service! Make sure you have a reservation even for Saturday at lunch because the place is packed (30 people can be seated at a time)! We all had different omelettes and they were great, try the lobster omelette, it's amazing. Real authentic French restaurant run by a the nicest French family. We will definitely... more
The staff are very friendly at this small French restaurant in Yorkville. Good food (order an app if you are getting the lamb rack) and good fun.
My husband brought me here for my birthday dinner this past weekend and it was excellent. The food was delicious (I had grilled salmon, my husband the rack of lamb). I had no idea what to expect, so when we got into the restaurant I was quite surprised at the size. It is a VERY small restaurant, so it did... more
Jacques Bistro Du Parc is our absolute favorite French restaurant, and is the restaurant my wife and I insist on for our anniversary. The owners run the show and that gives it a much more personal touch, the staff all remembers us and it feels like a home away from home. The omelette are easily the best in the city,... more
Not Excellent because:
1. Less than 10 tables between 2 waitresses, and we were midway through appetizers before the pepper was brought (even though we asked for it when we received them).
2. One piece of bread? Cheap.
3. Although the waitresses were fluent in French, the experience was not as much. Considering a fair amount was paid, expected more...

Came here for the first time for their valentines day 3-course pre-fix menu. As expected, it's V-day so the restaurant is fully booked. Yet, all the wait staff did an excellent job to make all their customers feel comfortable and ensured that everyone had a romantic V-day dinner with their other halves. Food was excellent, especially the French onion soup.... more
We went there this past Saturday, the place is very small, narrow would be a better description. We had reservations, were seated quickly the place was packed. Everyone loved their food, we had one salmon, tow orders of veal and one steak with green pepper sauce. All very very good. For me the best part of the meal was the... more
We experienced one of the most delicious meals at Jacques Du Parc last evening!!
The freshness of the food and presentation was outstanding!!!
The service was also impeccable as well as the friendliness of the entire family... something rarely experienced at many restaurants!!
This dininng experience leaves you wanting to come back for more!!!
This restaurant gets incredible reviews for a reason....it IS incredible! Upstairs, upscale, romantic, old world charm, fantastic cuisine, fabulous service....no better bistro in Paris!! Family owned....loving family that is; they love their bistro, their cuisine, and one another. The chef/owner makes a point of greeting and thanking every customer after their meal, unless it is frightfully... more
Best place, best service we have ever had! The environment was really good, cozy place, excellent for couples.
We stayed at the six stars hotel nearby. And had ventured into this bistro without making reservation. Boy. This place was packed and all we could hear were laughters. We were politely asked to come back in an hour. So we did. We waited for another 30 minutes. While waiting the Jacque's son came out to chit chat with us.... more
We eat regularly at Jacques' and are never disappointed. This time we were there with two friends. Everyone had different courses; everyone was more than pleased. We'll be back! The atmosphere matches the food: attractive an cozy. We'll keep on coming. Our one fear is that one of these days the Sorins will retire. Having recently lost one of our... more
We went to this place with my daughter on November 28. I made a reservation - it's a small, cozy place. French onion soup was very good. Everything was perfect. It was wonderful experience.
Having just returned to Toronto after living in Monaco for several years, we believed we had left behind our wonderful dining experiences. We need not have worried. In the heart of the charming Toronto neighbourhood of Yorkville is a restaurant that offers the very best of the French culinary experience, Jacques Bistro du Parc. From the ambience and service to... more
I have been to Jacques a few times and always I leave feeling satisfied and appreciative of the quality food, service and atmosphere. I would highly recommend the experience! Kim White
Great spot to have lunch or dinner, especially French onion soup
It is almost a meal in itself
Cannot go wrong taking someone there for dinner!
My wife and I have been enjoying Jacques' restaurant for over thirty years. It used to be just a very good omelette place with the most wonderful fluffy omelettes filled with marvellous bacon, lobster, and cheese. Now you can get the full French menu including French onion soup, beautifully dressed fresh salads, home baked bread, and entreés such as rack... more
We've been to many fine restaurants in the US, Asia, and Europe, and this place still stands out. I got the Nicoise salad and a fellow diner warned about poached salmon. "poaching = bland" she suggested. The other two got an omelet. We each got a glass of wine.
Poaching was perfect for this salad. It was all so "perfect"....

This is a small restaurant but the quality of the food & service are consistently high and it is operated by the family. No access except by stairs to 2nd floor.

Best omelets in Toronto served with nicely crisped potato cubes and tender crisp vegetables, yummy baguette slices on the side with good butter. Apple tartin was superb. Small quiet nicely appointed restaurant overlooking yorkville ave. Have to climb a steep set of stairs, if need an elevator, phone, not sure there is one.
We loved this small intimate restaurant. It has been in operation for over 30 years, and yet is not often mentioned in dining guides; however it is a favourite with locals.
Authentic French bistro cuisine, superb low keyed service, and fair pricing made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Our new favourite spot to dine in Toronto.
This restaurant gets it. The whole package. It is small, peaceful, up a long flight of stairs, private. The decor is old fashioned - the wallpaper, the carpet, have obviously been loved over time. It is absolutely clean. The table linens are snowy white. The glasses sparkle. There is a fresh flower on each table. The service is first rate.... more
Finding classic French food in Toronto is not as easy as it should be. We have been to several in Toronto in the past few years, and think that overall this is the best. The restaurant is owned and run by a French family, with the father running the kitchen and mother at the tables. The menu has a good... more
CDN$42 for an omelette and a beer for lunch was a bit much. I could have done it at home for 10 bucks. I had read that it was a good spot. I will not go back. Maybe I just made a poor choice from the menu.
Friends and I walked to this restaurant from the Holiday Inn on Bloor and had a great meal...mussels, onion soup, an omelette, great desserts and wine. The owner and waiter were genuinely friendly. We were glad we made a reservation as the restaurant is small and every table was filled by 8 pm on a Wednesday night. True to a... more
The restaurant is located in a cool part of Toronto, right behind Bloor Street shopping district. The restaurant is really small and dated, the food was just okay.
This little gem reminded me of meals we have enjoyed in France. Our first course was spinach salad and chilled cream of asparagus soup. Mains were rack of lamb and the loveliest sweetbreads I've ever had. Our waiter spoke fluent French which added to the authenticity of the bistro atmosphere. My husband is also fluent so he enjoyed conversing with... more
After I had read many wonderful reviews about Jaques I surprized my sweetheart for his birthday and made reservations for a weekday evening in March.

My husband and I went to this restaurant on May 27, 2013 for my birthday. For the first course we had the French Onion Soup and the Escargots. Went for lunch and ordered omelettes which were excellent. Why can't other restaurants produce a tasty delicate perfect Omlette like they do? The crowd was sophisticated and genteel. The owner who serves as well is a no nonsense individual. Not overly warm, but professional and aware of every guest. Omelettes for two, 1 vichyssoise soup and 2 Kors was 75.00... more
We showed up without reservations on a Friday nite. Got the last table. Service was good. Vichyssoise!! Owner had sightseeing suggestions. Nice place
Thanks to tripadvisor, I " discovered " this wonderful restaurant on my umteenth trip to Toronto.
Had lunch there on an overcast day, but you wouldn't know it, as the atmosphere inside , with the nice mix of " regular" customers, just gave me the feel of being in France. A small restaurant for sure, 31 seats, but that allows...

We visited this restaurant in May. To compare this restaurant with other five restaurants we visited during our stay in Toronto this is number 1! Food was exelent especially onion soup and fillet mignon. I would like to return back during my next visit in Toronto.
I love coming here. The service is great, attentive but not overbearing. Everyone here is so pleasant and sweet! We wanted to try the restaurant because of the good reviews. At the beginning I was shocked as the place is so tiny. Even my living room is bigger. The location is not really nice but the food it is. Jacques has the best entrecôte in the world. And it's a delightful unpretentious place with fine service.

You feel as if you're in Paris at Jacques Bistro. The decor and the music remind you of France, the waiters can all speak French and the classic French food is simply delicious. A small and simple Bistro, with always good to very good food. Very friendly and knowledgeable service. Order any variation and it will be accommodated. A bit pricey for the setting. But then again it is in the heart of Yorkville.
lemon, apple, blueberry or raspberry tarts are to die for. nice fluffy omelletes
Place could be considered cute or just a little shabby - your choice. But there is nothing shabby about the food. I have eaten here four times and will return. Last week, I eat their sweetbreads - succulent. Sauces always good tells me that somebody really cares. Not too pricey. Smack bang in Yorkville so tons of shopping, film festival etc.
While the dining room and the menu are looking a little tired, you can still find good french food here in this Yorkville second floor standard; special soups and uncomplicated mains are the watchword here; perhaps a bit of an updating might help inspire the chefs to reach higher.
We have eaten at Jacques for years. Best onion soup and creme caramel anywhere. We have tried
creme caramel in Quebec, Vancouver, east coast US
and W. Coast and Jacques is the best. Pork tenderloin - delightful flavour.
Oh.. and then there is the floating Island desert.
Very close to an original french bistro, small and cozy place, nice a romantic dinner
Around for decades and quite sophisticated. Omelettes, escargot, salmon with basil butter, lamb Provençale, and green peppercorn steak are options. Lunch, dinner Mon.-Sat. Smart casual. Entrees: $24.50-$32.95. AE, MC, V.
An intimate spot that seats about 30, Jacques serves fresh French cuisine to tourists and to locals who live and work around Yorkville. Under a canopy of patriotic blue, this cozy French bistro has been serving the local and tourist communities for decades.
