International Hotel Suites is downtown Calgary's original all-suite hotel and has continued to set the standard for superior customer service, modern convenience and luxury accommodations
Calgary’s original all-suite hotel has continued to set the standard for superior customer service, modern convenience and mid-scale luxury accommodations in the downtown area since 1970. Our favorable location and convenient 2nd Floor access to the +15 - Calgary’s covered pedestrian walkway – connects our guests to over 19 km of downtown shopping, nightlife, dining, recreation and corporate... more
Since it opened in 1970, the International, not owned by any of the major chains, has gone from a posh, all-suite property to a more budget-conscious choice. Still, some of the old glory still shows: Far from the anonymous experience you'd find at the major budget chains, the International has character -- along with nicely sized rooms, most with balconies with tremendous views of the skyline,... more
The drive from Edmonton to Calgary was relaxing, the Hotel stay was even more relaxing! Great location, and close to all amenities. The hotel even had breakfast included in their rate. Stayed here many times, and will continue to do so!
Overall good experience, rooms are huge but a bit dated.
Great convenient place to stay. Terrific service.Friendly staff.
The rooms were big, more like suites as opposed to ordinary hotel rooms. Overall the experience was excellent and I look forward to saying there again.
Stayed here on the beginning of our Rocky Mountaineer train experience, I was very impressed with how spacious the rooms were, a lot bigger then I had expected. Great service. Best part was free parking downtown during the weekend. Something other hotels downtown didn't offer.
This hotel was severely damaged due to the June flood. There was no kitchen, pool, spa, or garage parking available. The hotel did their best to make accommodations acceptable. As a rule, I'm a huge fan of International hotels. The only complaint I have is that the parkade is not solely for the use of International guests and lacks security - that would have been a nice touch, but I understand why it's not realistic.

Great alternative to more expensive four and five star downtown hotels. The International Hotel is connected to many downtown buildings by the skywalk system. The rooms are suites. Not enough light in the bathroom.
I liked that the room was very spacious. I also liked that it was on sale due to recent floods in calgary
\n\n
The toilet took forever to fill and it was loud. I couldn't use the shower or the sink until the toilet was done filling. I also didn't like that the parking was in an Impark lot next door. I paid for parking with my room, yet still got an Impark Parking Ticket.
That they upgraded me to the ladies floor and there were complimentaary snacks and drinks etc.
\n\n
That during the flood crisis they didn't alert the guests the night before that they were in a possible evacuation state. I woke up to a note under my door and said be on evacuation standby and to leave via the Plus 15's but there was no time frame etc. and I had no idea how long I would have...

la limpieza y el personal. La entrada es muy pobre relacionado al precio. Si entro parece un hotel de 70 dolares !!!
We liked the decor and layout
\n\n
How expensive it was to park, that there isn't free wifi since most hotels offer that, and how expensive the movie selection is
Excellent location. Reasonably affordable, compared to the rest of downtown Calgary. Coffee/water in lobby is a nice touch.
\n\n
Hair dryers would die before I finished blow drying my har. Taps were mislabeled (hot & cold). Sometimes it took forever to get hot water.
The second you step into the room it's obvious that this hotel is geared towards business travelers as the rooms have large closets, a desk space and even a complimentary shoe shine kit. Since it was the weekend, we were able to score a decent deal while visiting friends in Calgary. The incentive also included free parking and free wi-fi that was a bit sketchy at times. The room was large and... more
Having a living room, dining table & kitchenette is great. I get up early & hate to have to read or crochet in the bathtub, or on the toilet while waiting for my husband or colleague to wake up. I like to be able to prepare our own breakfasts, so having a kitchenette is wonderful!

Almost everything!

The bath tub was dirty, so I didn't end up using it!
Large bed

Very small bathroom. Ice box in fridge, needed defrosting.
The room was very spacious and clean and the staff helpful and friendly.
Location in Downton Calgary. Access to the +15 walkway.

Hotel and room decor was outdated. Customer service was OK, but not acceptional concidering the cost of the room. In room dining was very expensive and not a very extensive menu. No free wireless.
location in downtown Calgary is great for walking to restaurants and shops. Suites were spacious and bed was comfortable.

Rather dated hotel shows its age. Old heating system, not even sure room thermostat worked. Wasn't really a restaurant for dinner, just a meal in the pub/lounge below street level. Restaurant only open for breakfast and lunch, assume because so many other great...

I stayed at the international suites hotel on a recent business trip. The hotel had a mix of good and bad.
Walking in you get the feel that this is the hotel of choice for the local rub a dubs. The people hanging in the lobby for the free coffee.
My first problem with this hotel was not their fault. My corporate travel provider told me I would have a queen sized bed. Instead I got two twins....

The good: Room was nice in general (spacious, clean, etc) and location is good. Free wired internet. The bad: Twin beds only in room! Odd spacing in bedroom - closet could not open completely due to bed placement. Called for room service three times and was hung up on all three times. Waited 10 minutes for elevator (twice). Water took 5 minutes to heat up in the morning.
This far exceeded my expectations. The room was big, beautiful, and comfortable! I would certainly recommend this to others. It was a great value, we definitely got our money's worth!
The hotel was excellent and beyond my expectations. Its excellent value for money. The location was great and heart of downtown cagary. The rooms were very clean and huge. Very well kept hotel and good place to stay. The staff was very polite and helpful. Only thing which I think is lacking in this hotel is that t the room did not have a clock to keep track of time. This is the third or fourth time that I have stayed at the International Hotel Suites in Calgary; every time I have been very satisfied with the rooms; the in-room amenities such as the multiple LCD televisions, very comfortable beds and pillows, and showers.
Great location and value.
All of the rooms are newly remodeled suites featuring flatscreen wallmounted televisions. The bank of 3 elevators are exceptionally noisely because as they pass each floor, they "ding" which can be easily heard in EVERY room; waking me up every morning. Though the rooms are nice, they are far from soundproofed; I heard the man in the room above me urinate every morning at 5:30. Though... more
So.. lets get the negatives out of the way. It's an old building, so ... with that seems to come a dingy look inside the buildings exterior..... (elevators, hallways) HOWEVER, once inside your room, which yes, all rooms are suites, it's all good. Very nice rooms, as I have found out, the rooms were updated, and its definintely obvious because the rooms do not match the yucky elevators and not... more
Room was unbelievable, staff was friendly and helpful. Only complaint I have is having to pay $40 a day for parking.
I liked that the room had a fridge and microwave. There was also lots of space.\n\nThe room had twin beds. I expect a three and a half star hotel to have queen size beds. I also expect the bathroom to be clean. There was hair in the shower, etc when we checked in and still there the next day after cleaning.\n\nGood location but I wouldn't stay here again. Not up to the standards of a 3.5 star... more
Big rooms. Lots of space\n\nElevator was very loud even though we were 2 rooms over. Shower head had very little pressure\n\nVery good for the price. Would not pay full price. But would stay again with ear plugs to sleep with due to elevator noise all night.
over all satifactory\n\ndid not know which floor is the swmingpool and other facilities\n\nlocated in downtown but ofcourse not in the heart of downtown where one would like to stay and enjoy this is more somewhere in commerical area.
I'm always cautious in starting at a 'non branded' hotel because your never sure of what you'll get. This hotel impressed me, modern contemporary room or should I say suites. It's basically like a 1 bedroom apartment, two flat screen TV's one in the bedroom and the other in the living room.
Mini fridge, coffee maker. sink, microwave (no hotplate or oven - FYI). Complimentary coffee and tea in...

Great location and was well worth the price I paid\n\nGreat hotel, would stay there again. Only problem we had was the room next door was partying very loud for quite sometime, but once I called down they were stopped immediately.
location and size of the room\n\nparking policy\n\nI was given false information regarding the parking fees. As a result, I was forced to pay for a full day of parking during the midweek at $38, even though I was checking out that morning at 6:00am. According to the policy posted in the parking lot, I would only have had to pay a $5 overnight charge, rather than pay for a full day of parking.
Yes, I would recommended it Restaurant disapointed me. Most of the time closed or empty. In general, my expectations were met
A whole lot of taxes added on to room. ie. leisure tax, tourist tax.
Great location, friend ls front desk staff room service restaurant okay.\n\nIt is in a great location, front desk staff was very helpful and friendly.
The room was very clean and roomy. The staff very polite and helpful. The location was walking distance to parks and the river trail. The only thing that needed improvement was the food at the hotel café. Not a big deal as their are plenty of coffe shops and other restaurants withing a 3 block radius.
Rooms are spacious and nice looking. The service at this hotel was subpar compared to the image it was portraying. Front desk wasn't as happy serving my check in for some reason, wasn't cheerful etc. I used to work at a hotel and would not have been like that.Aside from that everything was all good.
Great hotel! Extremely spacious and clean rooms with nice views of the city. Quiet, yet in the middle of the bustling downtown Calgary. Perfect location and great staff! Will be back if ever in Calgary again!
Stayed here on a 32 hour layover for work.
We arrived late at night & were promptly checked in. The rooms are well appointed suites with a large dining table with 4 chairs, a large couch & 2 arm chairs. Stayed here for a few nights and the rooms are great. They are huge and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful as well.
The downsides were the noise outside from cars driving by. Even being over 20 floors up you can hear them go by at all hours. If you are by an elevator they are very noisy and its hard to keep the noise out. The biggest negative however is the lack...

I used to stay here all the time, but about 8 years ago I swore "never again" The hotel was getting old and not aging well. I tried it again this year, and they have renovated the rooms and it's a great place to stay again.

I stayed there for 3 nights. It's a very safe and convenient hotel. The staff was vey helpful. I didn't like the setup of the suite I stayed, because there was no door to the bedroom, it's open to the living area and the bathroom was not attached to the room. Best thing I liked about the hotel is, it's really clean. I would stay there again, but would ask for different room.
This hotel had really large rooms, two TVs, a wet bar. The drinking vessels were nice glass. The room had a sitting area and a small dining table. Great little hotel. Do you know that saying,.. don't judge a book by it's cover? Ok, apply that here.
The lobby wasn't impressive and the phone in the lobby for enterprise didn't work. But the rooms and overall attentiveness of the staff made this a wonderful stay. I felt like I was in an executive suite at the Hyatt.

I just came back from a mini vacation in Calgary, Canada. My fiance and are very spontaneous; hence, we rarely make extensive plans and hotel reservations before visiting different places.

Hotel was in a great location. Good resturants within walking distance. Beds are very comfortable.
Everything was absolutely great, service, cleanliness, room etc. There was only one disappointment and that was the beds. We ordered 2 double beds and got 2 single beds. I spent the last five years commuting to Calgary from Edmonton every second weekend visiting my children until I finally moved back here this past May. This hotel met all expectations, with large comfortable rooms and a good location with direct access to the +15 walkway. Staff was friendly, attentive and helpful. I recommend it for anyone looking for a good hotel at a great price!
The rooms were fantastic. The bed excellent. The only area for improvement would be the bathroom, which we found to be very very small, given the room we had for the living room, lounge and bedroom. The staff were very friendly, especially the ladies who were on the info counter for the Stampede. Given that we were there during a major event, the hotel seemed to function without stress.
“I just arrived in from out of town on a late flight. I had a confirmed reservation and the staff at this hotel sold my room before I arrived. What is the use of having a confirmed reservation for late arrival??? I am sitting in the lobby while they find me another room at another hotel and they are not having much luck. “Great location in downtown Calgary. The furnishings in the suite and bathroom were top quality and the amenities (alcohol, munchies, etc) provided for a cost were diversified and plentiful.
