Bonne bouffe mais trop cher, trop snob et les pires chaîses de l'industrie de la restauration
Friends of ours brought us here at the end of a weekend in Montreal visiting. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The servings are large, and the food is flavourful and fresh. The service was attentive without being intrusive. My husband had a pizza, and was very impressed with the quality of the crust, and the flavourful ingredients. It is large... plus
The staff was very accommodating and allowed flexibility to the menu creating a sense of adventure.
This coupled with a depth of flavor to most dishes left a strong desire to return to a fine dining experience. A little pricey but worth the coin.
This restaurant is simply a hidden gem on the island of montreal. Food is so consistently great and location overlooking the Lachine canal surely compliment all your needs to satisfy your lunch, diner summer or winter!!
Although very busy, reservations would be recommended.. No matter how busy they get, service is always great, inside, outside balcony or on the terraces....

My wife and I walked over from the B&B we are staying at, without a reservation. It was a Monday night after all. The place was packed inside, but outside was raining. We were offered a table for two, perhaps not the most desirable table, but one it was fine for us, and it was the last table available without... plus
Going there for over 20 years and the food is reliably good.
Very pleasant in the summer on the road side terrace and facing Lachine canal.
Valet parking makes it easy.
Most pasta dishes are competent, the Osso Buco can be better, wine list not so great but OK.
The pizza is better than most places, comes right out of...

The food is OK but the service is really average. I had linguini carbonnara they were good, not the best I ever had but I also had a lot worst. Valet parking is a nice service, it is very difficult to park in this area.
One of the most enjoyable experience for my group in awhile. We were served delicious cannelloni, pizza and risotto by a smiling, fun waiter. This place definitely has a great atmosphere with the customers and staff.
I found Il Fornetto on Monday evening, April 14, 2014 on a snowy, blowing April evening, a Port in a Storm! Located on a corner on a lakeside drive, the place was cozy and inviting, with 12 tables downstairs (more upstairs I didn't see). The menu was great, the food far beyond expectations, as was the service, too. Price-range was... plus
We were there with a party of four and had tomatoes with feta, eggplant, pizza, and pasta (tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms).
Unfortunately, there was absolutely nothing special or delicious about any of the food. No fresh taste, no noticeably conscious use of spices or herbs, dry white bread... whatever they served was sub-par; let alone matching the above-average pricing. The...

I just recently visited Il Fornetto last week and had an enjoyable experience! I was with a fairly large group of colleagues for dinner and enjoyed the service and food! Risotto was cooked to perfection and the serving was large enough to fill me up!
Compliments to the chef!! Great food, great ambiance and let's not forget the staff!
We were 4 couples, we had a very nice supper. The calamari were excellent and the rack of veal was amazing. To top it all off, at the end of the night, they gave us chocolates imported from Italy, delicious!!
We recommended to all!!
All three of us chose the lunch menu which offers crusty rolls with butter, soup or salad and a main course. The salad had variety, was excellent with a house dressing. The vegetable soup with pasta had rather a lot of pasta in it. The pasta dish was very good. The catch of the day was accompanied by vegetables and... plus
Excellent restaurant, bouffe, ambiance, vin, service, prix très raisonnable et une superbe vue sur le canal Lachine !

I know my Italian .. And this is the best !
I've been going to Il Fornetto for years and years and I've never been disappointed.
I'm a big fan .. and recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
good service (Mike)
nice view on the canal Lachine and cycle path
good food, different option on the menu
tasty and hot
good choice of wine
Great food ,service, great maître d'hotel
Very professional service,in an excellent environs.
Superior to most restaurants that I visited internationally, would suggest to persons seeking to be served by people who understand wh
We have been going to this restaurant off and on for about 10 years and the food is always good. However, this time we went for dinner with friends and were disappointed by the service. I ordered a soft drink with ice and mid-way through drinking it, I found broken glass in the drink and almost swallowed it. I called... plus
I only hope the owner(s) of this establishment reads this and sees this as constructive critisism and not "destructive" . We have been going to this restaurant for many years and the last few times have been extremely dissapointing...we kept hoping this time it will be the way it used to be...but now, after this last visit, we most likely... plus
Great Italian restaurant overlooking the Lachine canal...with outside terrace (although on the street watching cars go by). Food was reasonably priced (~$25 for the table d'hote), well presented, and quite delicious. Certainly not a chain restaurant! As parking is a problem on the street, with lots of reserved parking for residents, valet service was provided and certainly appreciated. I think... plus
Two for lunch. Prompt service. We both started with the soup de jour, a pasta e fagioli, which was both tasty and hearty. I had Risotto Sabatino (risotto with veal, veggies, and a tomato sauce), which was delicious and the veal was melt-in-your-mouth good, and my friend had the Vitello al Pepe Nero ( veal scaloppini with a demi glace,... plus
We had lunch here on a Sunday--lovely restaurant with great outdoor tables and surly but professional waiters. The usual Italian fare--salads, thin-crust pizza and pasta--Do not miss anopportunity to go here in the nice weather
This is a beautiful location for a Saturday summer night. The place was filled to the rim. The menu looked great and so did the wine list (private importation). Although the order taking was fast and effective, we waited quite a long time for our appetizers. The place was extremely hot and noisy. There was no A/C or fans and... plus
pizza was delicious which seemed a hard thing to find in this beautiful city. nicely situated near the water
It's such a great location in the summer time. A great part of Lachine by the canal. The food is good and I usually stick to the Table D'hote or pizza and always enjoy it.
We were back to one of our favourite restaurants for New Years Eve dinner and were not disappointed. Some places replace their menus with a pricier one, but their table d'hote menu was the same reasonable pricing, plus their regular menu was still available. Food was great; service warm and friendly and very efficient. Delicious "pyramid" dessert. Could not have... plus
This is a favorite place for my husband and myself; great for a couple but I've been there with friends, family and have always had a warm and pleasant experience. The pizza is fabulous, service friendly but not overly chummy (that can be annoying) and I was very impressed that weeks after we brought my mother there for dinner, the... plus
I have had two trips to Montreal for work. The first trip I had no idea where to go and the hotel concierge suggested Il Fornetto after finding out I like Italian food. When the staff found out I was there on business and dining alone, they sat and joined me at my table briefly to chat as did the... plus
Not much to say about the food... It is good but not outstanding with a good selection of wine.
The thing is the location !
If you want to have a romatic dinner... book a table on the balcony with a view over the Lachine canal but have the dinner late as it can be very warm in the summer....

Amazing restaurant, great atmosphere and even better food, service is a bit iffy but theres a great view and the foods priced well, definetely a recommended restaurant
Ce n'était pas la meilleure soirée pour un risotto: un goût d'ail pas frais et le risotto était trop mouillé... Marie-Claire
We had a Party with a fixed menu. The atmosphere was good and we had a nice corner. The food wasn't bad but nothing special. Service was good. The pizza was the best thing we ate that evening.
This is a wonderful little Italian restaurant on the Lachine canal. The location is perfect, with a beautiful view of the canal, the staff is friendly and very professional, and the food is always great. I have been there for romantic evenings, and also for business, and it is always a hit.
My family and I have frequented this restaurant over the last 15 years. The quality, taste and service have all deteriorated. Our last experience was awful and lead us to our decision of not returning.
.
We ended up here by a series of coincidences but were not disappointed. Let the staff guide you to the best items in a very exhaustive menu (maybe it should be reduced a bit). Also, let them guide you to some good values in wine. We thought Santino (our waiter) was knowledgeable and personable. This place has great ambience, wonderful... plus
Very good Italian food and a great atmosphere, nice place to relax, enjoy a meal and the great view on the canal!
We stayed in Montreal the weekend of July 9th, rented bikes and rode to Lachine, Quebec. We just happened onto this place. Our experience was much different from the recent reviews we read. The service was very good. That staff friendly and very helpful. We asked for an appetizer of calamari which was done just right. It wasn't heavily breaded,... plus
I have been a fan of this restaurant on the Lachine canal for many years, but I won't be back. Three girlfriends and I were there for lunch last week, and experienced surly reluctant service, and a dreadful lamb shank that was overcooked, hard and dry. I had to ask the waiter to 'smile', as he was ill tempered and... plus
This restaurant has it all in the summer - terraces with a view of water (one can watch the boats coming and going from the marina - amazing in the summer); very competent service; excellent Italian food. My favorite lunch time choise is the margharita pizza. They have the correct oven and they do it just right - when a... plus
Many people I know love this restaurant but I find it very ordinary bordering on the 'not so good'. I go because others choose to go there but I never look forward to eating there.
It is actually in Lachine, but the map won't let me change the location. It is on the waterfront, wonderful atmosphere. Great during the summer months when they open the terrace.
Warm ambiance for Italian favourites & wood-fired pies, with a deck facing the canal promenade.
