Not a Hotel, a construction site.

We arrived and were'nt sure we were at the hotel. Finally saw a little Howard Johnson cardboard sign propped against a post. The whole hotel was under construction with yellow tape everywhere. No lobby, check in was a table. Our room reeked of drywall dust. Only stayed because we prepaid. Toughed it out for 2 nights. Will never go back.

When we got there they were over booked so we could not get the room that we had reserved. I contacted Expedia.ca and they corrected the situation to our satisfaction.

Hope renovations will pay off

The hotel was under construction. The bathroom was dirty (could see some body hair from previous guest(s)). The rest was just OK for a very short stay.

Convenient location for Mosport Raceway

Their hotel was under renovation which we were not aware of. It would have been nice to have been advised of that before arrival.

The hotel was under construction and looked like an abandoned building from the outside. After I walked up the steps, I walked through a construction zone hallway of tarps and metal, similar to a New York street. really?

The bed was h@!%!*n the edges and soft in the middle, it ate you whole......the hotel was under renovations.........no hot water at all.......so no hot shower for two.......probably should have not have charged so much for the room.

Wish I was told it was under construction.

My elderly mother stayed with me and with the construction was a little uncomfortable.

Old Rooms

The hotel is under construction that seem to be way behind schedule. The old room that we were in was musty, the door to the room could not be locked from the outside. I notified staff. I have no plans to stay there again until the new rooms are fully complete.

Under renovation

This hotel is under extensive renovation. I was in one of the new rooms and everything was great. Breakfast was a little simple but good.

Do not recommend

Even though the room itself is fairly new, it was a shambles with the baseboard falling off and peeling wallpaper. The bed was big, but the room is extremely small. The shower is very inconvenient to use as there is so little room in the bathroom and in order to turn the shower on, you have to get fully in the stall first which means you get blasted with ice cold water first thing in the... more

Great experience!

It was all under construction but the room was lovely, the staff were excellent, and the rate was unbeatable.

The check in and out when very smotly, staff was very friendly.

The room was in very good shape, clean, spacious and quiet.

The continantal breakfast was great and we have appreciated it .

under re-construction

Two night stay. Room service did NOT make-up bed, clean room, or change towels for second day....room untouched. Hotel desk said cleaning lady went home sick. Great Potential

Although under MAJOR construction, the hotel managed to offer a clean and comfortable and quiet room with no issues other than the parking and entrance and lobby were compromised due to the renovations. Can't wait to see the final!

Under construction but does work.

The hotel is under major construction which is a bit of shock at first. The pleasant hotel staff will show you the back room which has been renovated. The rooms there are fine - probably 20 in total. Staff really friendly

it was ok, the room were clean, the staff were friendly, the only thing I didn't like was the renovation. The lobby was not inviting at all because of that renovation. It was very cold in the lobby so the staff has to go wait in the other room were the temperature was fine. I don't blame her, she could stay in the cold. the management should make sure that the staff works in a good environment... more

Couldn't give a best rating because it was under construction. Rooms were really nice with full kitchen and set up. People very friendly and love the fact it was pet friendly came in handy.

Hotel was under major renovation. Only about 4 guest rooms in service. Front door was blocked off due to construction, had to find our way through the back door across a derelict back yard. No parking, had to park at an adjacent motel. We had pets, but the only access to the guest rooms was through the coffee shop. No complaints as there did not seem to be any other guests! Nice hotel being renovated to become even better

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Upon first arriving, we did wonder what we had gotten ourselves into as they were in construction mode. They are currently upgrading all the rooms and putting in an elevator, adding a floor and putting in a new pool. Construction site

This hotel is a construction site. There was no hot water for 2 days I had a very hard time even finding the sign to tell him where I hotel entrance was. Should not have stayed. Very disappointed.

No Privacy

Could not close the curtains for privacy . Had to use a paper clamp to close the curtains . Window viewed right into the parking lot next door (Motel Complex) . The shower stall( NO TUB) was incomplete . No shelves for soap or shampoo . NO TOWEL RAILS . We will not stay here again even though renovations were not completed

Good enough for the price

They are under construction, showing a lot of wear and tear. Love that they don't charge for dogs. Rooms are clean and staff was very friendly

they are in the process of renovating so the pool area was closed off. rooms were a good size with microwave and fridge but bathroom fixtures were in need of repair or replacing although everything did work.

A Nice Little Hotel

The pillows were very uncomfortable. One was just not enough and two were too high. Renovations on the outside were being done. I think it will look very nice when it is finished. I hope the inside will also be brought up to date as the carpets are worn. Very good location. I would return.

Close to Family

It is close to certain areas of need, such as food places, GO Transit.

Construction craziness

Hotel was under rennovation. Outside looked like it was not open with construction fences around it. Room was repainted, but there were some holes in the walls in the bathroom where they had done some repairs and the paint only covered part of the wall.

The hotel looked like a crime scene!

We stayed at this hotel for one night when attending a tournament in nearby Oshawa. The hotel was a mess on the outside as it's being renovated but it looked as if it had had a fire. The inside was very dirty - the smell of the hallway to my room was horrible! Hotel under reno and the outside of the premises was worn and tired. There was food from another occupant still in the drawers of the dresser. I found someones gold card by the bed. Continental breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable.

I know that the hotel was in construction but in our room the fridge did not work, the water tank was running so we had to make sure that you play with lever so you can stop in. There was lint of the hair blower so that was not look after. This time I was disappointed. I will try this hotel again when the renovation is finish to give it a 2nd try.

Demolition and renovation in progress. Renovated rooms are not available if you book thru hotel.com. Un-renovated rooms are basic and dark and not sound-proof.

Everything was just fine, had a great sleep in the king size bed. Not noisy. We adjusted the heat to the right temperature and it was great for sleeping.Would stay again if in the area. The continental breakfast was nourishing and lots of room to sit and partake. Thx

Clean hotel, okay service

Our stay was good, the lady we checked in with was wonderful and so was the lady we dealt with to extend our stay by a night. On Sunday night we brought some friends to the hotel who were looking for a room, and the lady was just short and not very nice. Then when we proceeded to check out on Monday, we had to wait for 15 minutes because no body was at the front desk. I went looking for a staff... more

Convenient

Stay was excellent! My husband was using crutches and body brace after an accident and they upgraded our room to a first-floor kitchenette suite.

Good value for the price and location. Very easy to get to.

Search for a better place to stay

The air smelled like smoke from cigarettes. The bed spread had cigarette burns. There was someones hair on the bed sheet. Breakfast was terrible.

Needs updating

This hotel is stuck in the dark ages. The mattresses are antient, finishes in the bathrooms.... oh boy. Our bathroom door couldn't even close. The but and sink had no plugs. The bathroom space was seriously tight with old fashioned fixtures. For the money we spent.... I don't know. We registered for 4 people, but there wasn't enough coffee, shampoo, towels... don't get that.

just stayed one night and didnt have an opportunity to use all the facilities but had a comfortable sleep . the bed was very comfortable.

Tired old hotel

Holiday Inn in Bowmanville was fully booked so we wound up in the 'tired' Howard Johnson. It is over 40 yrs. old and although the staff were excellent the hotel is way past its prime. The rooms have been updated and were for the most part clean. The mattress was in need or replacement. Overall the hotel is poor. Look elsewhere.

Excellent room and desk service! We found the continental breakfast a bit lacking and it was identical for the two nights we were there.....I would suggest some yogurt, bagels, and a variety of fruit......only a a couple of bananas and apples when we were there. Otherwise, our stay was fine

close to main highway (401)

Overall, my stay was all right. It would be nice if the bathroom fan was working and that there would be either a change machine or a vending machine that can take dollar bills. The location was all right as it was close to the 401.

good for a stopover

Honestly, we didn't have high expectation for the hotel, and were very pleasently pleased. Those attending the desk were friendly and helpful. Our room was quite satisfactory. Nice rooms

I was needing a place to stay for business in the Clarington area, the hotel was right off the 401 renovated rooms, and a nice breakfast, with waffles! The front desk was very helpful with directions and recomandations to local restaurants.
