Stay was great. Toured the waterfront and downtown. Had a great time! Elevators and breakfast rooms were a little busy and a bit congested but all in all if that is the only fault I can find it was great.

Couldn't be happier.

Our stay at the Hampton Inn by Hilton in Halifax was exceptional. The two of us stayed in a room with a kingsize bed and the room itself was very spacious. Our room offered a view of Citadel Hill and was within walking distance of all of the major attractions. Rest assured we will be back.

A weekend in Halifax!

Very nice brand new hotel. The facilities and building were immaculate, but we found hairs in and on the bed. The staff was very professional, and courteous helping us with new sheets and a bag full of treats.

Hotel was exactly what was needed - conveniently located in centre of town, and being brand new everything was in excellent clean condition. Staff were very helpful e.g. providing advice and arranging for car service with baby seats.

Lovely Stay

This hotel is beautiful,clean and secure. The staff were very helpful. We were taking our children to Sesame Street at the Scotiabank Centre (3 minute walk from the hotel) and we were able to extend our parking cards until the show was over. A great feature when getting parking downtown is difficult. We plan to stay here again.

Perfect Halifax Location

In town for 4 days - a seamless experience. Great staff, amenities and rooms. The value is incredible. The tea and coffee counter available in the evening is a fine touch. The breakfast was excellent.

Convenient loation

We had a little confusion at check in regarding the procedure for parking, room service took 30 minutes to get wine glasses to our room and the room was much too warm. However, it was very clean, comfy and had an excellent breakfast! Great security features in the elevator.

Good choice in downtown Halifax

Five friends spent one night for a girls getaway. We had two rooms, both were nice and comfortable. The corner room was larger, a good spot for the group to gather. The elevators are a bit slow at peak times. Breakfast area is very comfortable.

Nice hotel only opened in June this year

Hotel was very good but the location was not to our liking as most of the tourist attractions and restaurants were downtown and it made a very tiring day after being sightseeing all day and then having to climb up the hills to get back to the hotel. We did do a couple of tours where we were picked up and dropped off at the hotel.

Excellent hotel and highly recommend! I think the fact that the hotel is only 2 months old added to the appeal. Staff were super friendly. Room was top-shelf, we were on the top floor corner room over looking historic Citadel Hill. No complaints what so ever.

Excellent except for breakfast.

The hotel itself is great, but the breakfast left much to be desired. There IS a waffle iron, BUT: eggs were rubbery, potatoes were hard and dry, oatmeal was gluey, sausage looked like dog... well, you get the idea. Huge let-down after such a comfortable stay.

This is a great hotel. The staff are first class go out their way to help. The rooms are clean and fresh. We paid extra for a harbour view and it was worth it. There is a lot of choice for the buffet breakfast and we enjoyed the free tea and coffee.

New hotel but need some improvement

The hotel rooms are comfortable, beds are good. Aircon is a bit noisy though. The breakfast room is too small and every morning it was a struggle to get a table which made us decide to have breakfast outdoors on the last morning of our stay.

A Great Place to Stay in Halifax!

This hotel is centrally located - about 5 minutes walk to Argyle street, 10 minutes to the waterfront, and about 25 minutes walk from the Seaport Farmers Market. My brother held his wedding ceremony here mainly because it was a pretty much middle of class hotel in Halifax. The Hotel is definately old and they are acutally in the works of a reovation so maybe when that is complete the place will really be nice!

Worst, worst, worst breakfast I've ever had in my life at the hotel restaurant, Botanica. Room was really musty and stale smelling if the window was not open. Incessant dripping sound coming from the ceiling. I could go on, but I'll leave it at that.

The bed mattresses are so old that there is a dip in the middle of the bed. There also was a vomit smell in our bathroom, which was terrible. The people at the front desk were very pleasant though! Wouldn't recommend this hotel, due to this experience!

The overall experience with the hotel was excellent. Very one was great. When we first pulled up to the hotel, it looked like it could have used a makeover. But I guess what they "Never judge a book by the cover". Would clearly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Stayed 2 nights; good value with Expedia rate; however, parking was extra. Parking space was limited even though the hotel didn't seem to be particularly busy; however we were lucky enough to find a spot out front.

Citadel is about to undergo renovations

The Halifax Citadel Hotel is supposed to be knocked down and completely rebuilt starting February 2012. It seems quite dated in its current form and so it makes sense. Great location but it's clear they're not spending any more money on the place just ahead of the demolition.

I've stayed a quite a few hotels in Halifax, but i think i've found my golden egg. I was impressed with everything from check in to check out. I wanted to stay in downtown Halifax for three nights and the Citadel was one of the cheapest ($135/night).

As I was heading to my room for the first time Friday evening (6ish) after I checked in, I passed by four pillows and a mini fridge outside one of the rooms on my floor. Huh? They were still there when I left for supper about 9pm ... and gone when I got back at 11pm.

Check-in was relatively quick and problem free.

My only complaints are the bed (it was kind of s@!%!y) and the fact that my room was next to the elevators. Whenever they would go off, there would be a loud noise all throughout the night.

The up and downs of this hotel

Upon arrival at 12:30 a.m. there was no luggage trollies available and one traveller had knee sugery and the other traveller was 81 yrs old. Also the room was not available upon check-in even though I communcated with the hotel twice on the arrival day informing them of late arrival.Also during our stay there was a mouse located on the 5th floor.

This was an excellent expereince, The hotel is very convenient to downtown Halifax. They were very helpful and accomodating in adjusting for the fact that our flight into Halifax had been cancelled, causing us to arrive a day later than planned. The rooms were in terrific shape. Be prepared, however, the Citadel Hotel is locted well above the harbor.

Everyone working at the hotel was nice enough, but it is clear that the building itself is essentially neglected. As a first time visitor to Halifax, I really appreciated the assistance given by the staff in suggesting places to visit, and organising tours. After a 6 night stay, I began to feel I was part of the hotel family. Breakfast in the dining room was a treat each morning.Comfortable beds, large, spotlessly clean rooms made for a great stay.

This is an old a very rundown facility. The entire hotel is badly in need of refurbishment.

I will be the first to admit that there are a few things that need improvement at Citadel Halifax. That being said, they definitely deserve the five stars thanks to amazing staff. I haven't seen better customer service in any hotel. And I've spent six years traveling around the world!

The hotel was conveniently located near restaurants and shopping in Halifax, near the waterfront. The room was OK, but had an unpleasant odor. The water pressure from the shower was weak. The room was of adequate size and the beds were satisfactory. The reception area of the hotel/lobby is overdue for a refit. We had a major issue with guests next to us and were moved to a superior room in the newer tower. Management was efficient and really with it. We were very impressed.”

My stay was fantastic. The facilities are great and aside from the fact that it was a pain in the a@s to get from my room to my friends (there are 2 towers), I couldn't complain. The business center was a relief and the staff were always friendly and helpful.

Unique Quality: The pool and workout area is real nice.

Unique Quality: The Sheraton is a casino and directly attached to the boardwalk. The Citadel overlooks citadel hill which is a historic site for when the loyalists used it as an outlook for incoming armies.

Unique Quality: EXCELLENT Sauna and Pool, Good restaurant Great location near Citadel Hill and harbor. Across the street from the shopping Mall and inside walkways to the harbor board walk etc.

Directions: Near the Citadel hill

We stayed at the Citadel Inn which was really nice.

Unique Quality: It had a pool, whirlpool, small gym facility, sauna etc as well as a restaurant which I think was called Arthurs or something like that.. Its close to the centre of the city and main atrractions.

Directions: it sits right beside the Citadel Fortress and is very central to everything.
