I have stayed in many, many hotels over the years and have never experienced such rude and inappropriate customer service! On my birthday, one of the "ladies" from the front desk told me I was trashy, called me stupid and said she hates when MY KIND come to her hotel?!? As far as I know hotels are suppose to treat every guest with respect especially when I wasn't a "troubled" guest. There was... more
Arrived around noonish/1:00pm with a pre-paid confirmed for late arrival reservation. Hotel staff said...can't checking yet as no rooms ready. advised staff we were heading into TO for Blue Jays game and would return to hotel after 11pm. Desk clerk said...no problem as we had a pre-paid guaranteed for late arrival reservation. We returned to hotel around midnight and to our astonishment the... more
Traveled for work.

Dependable internet.
One of the nicest showers/baths I've had in a hotel.
Good bed.
Nice desk, with a nice station for charging and hooking laptops to the TV.
Right by the Highway.
Fridge/microwave
Good room layout.
Multiple restaurants across the street.
Adequate breakfast.
Nice Staff.
Cons:
Highway is loud...at all hours.
Vending machines are limited.

It's clean enough, has comfy beds and has the expected HI amenities. This is a highway off-ramp hotel, not a vacation resort or a downtown Intercontinental, so expectations should be for what one gets at a highway off-ramp hotel. As far as those go, this place is on-par with the other modern selections. Your wife will think its clean enough,... more
The wife and I stayed here on a Sunday night on our way to the Gananoque area this hotel is very close to the 401 but away from any noise. The gentleman at the front ( Sorry I didn't get is name) was very helpful he gave us a king room at senior rate the room was very well appointed the... more
A bit pricey for the quality of rooms and comfort level. Looks good from the outside but not quite as maintained indoors. Carpets were in need of vacuuming. Beds were okay but not all that comfortable. Door to washroom was dirty with stains. Not all that modern. For the price was expecting more but all in all hotel was decent. Staff was friendly and efficient. Included breakfast was above average.
Room was very spacious. We ended up two rooms: One with two queen beds for my sons, and a king bed suite.
Rooms are very spacious and well maintained.
Breakfast was included with the room rate and was tasty and plentiful.
We did not get a chance to try out any other facilities, but would definitely recommend this hotel.
I was going to be going to a wedding in Whitby and so booked the Holiday Inn Express. I was lucky enough to be able to check in a bit early and found the room clean and comfortable. The desk staff were pleasant and helpful. They offered to call me a cab and I was on my way to my... more
After a beautiful day at a friends wedding the female security guard greeted the guests coming off the shuttle bus with an advanced warning that we will be punished if we are too loud. Considering the group of respectful wedding attendees were between the ages of 25-65, most being tired after a long day, this warning was completely unnecessary.
But...

When turning on the air conditioning unit there was a horrible musty smell.....it needs to be cleaned and serviced. The breakfast was poor.
Fitness centre has 3 items - no room and very hot with no circulation, pool is seasonal, the room smelled badly - very basic breakfast. I have used this chain many times - this stay for business was totally disappointing - I will stay at the neighbouring hotel next time. Curtains have been changed to pole top and do not close together...basic, cheap but expensive to stay
The buffet breakfast was very nicely presented with lots of variety to meet everyone's choices
This hotel is comfortable, clean and feels new. We arrived on Friday June 13th at about 6:15 pm and were in a mad scramble to make it somewhere for 7 pm; the young woman at the front desk couldn't have been more helpful! She even wrote out directions to where we were going and advised us on where to grab... more
Wish breakfast was a bit longer on the weekend .
The Good News:
I have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express many times over the last 10 + years or so, always in June around a golf tournament at near by Deer Creek Golf Club that my husband and I attend for business. During our recent stay, I found as I have in the past, the beds, bedding and pillows...

With this hotel, you get what you expect. It is nothing fancy but it is modern, clean and the price is about what I expected too. Desk staff friendly. Great location, right by 401. I have stayed more than once and I will continue to chose this hotel if I need to stay in this area.
While needing to stay near Lakeridge Health Centre recently, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. The staff are friendly and make every effort to accommodate needs - especially for a family member needing a unit for the disabled. The breakfast offered choices of hot and cold food and 'hot' coffee. Ample parking and a sheltered front entrance against the... more
Rooms basic, towels basic, as for breakfast.....! paper cups and plates -! self serve soggy rehydrated scrambled egg, very very odd sausages..... no never again really awful. I cannot recommend this place unless you have really no where else to go and are so drunk you will not notice.
I stayed here for one night in October, 2013 and the conditions were gross. When I went to bed everything seemed fine. When I woke up several hours later, the power had been out for hours, not sure how long. I turned my pillow over in the night and when I woke, there were a couple of spots of blood... more
The location is great right off the highway and with many stores and restaurants nearby. There is an Empire Theatre a mile east among a number of restaurants. The room is spacious and clean. Front desk staffs are very nice. They upgraded mine from double queen to a king suite for free. Complementary breakfast is typical of Holiday Inn Express... more
The hotel is right off the 401 exit and its in Whitby but right next to Ajax. The hotel is nice and clean. Great beds, flat screen tv and new decor. Great stay. Lots of restaurants across the street, kelsey, swiss chalet for dine in and fast food such as tim hortons, mcdonalsd, harveys etc. great hotel. Would recommend.
We chose this hotel for location and price. There are not a lot of hotels to choose from in Whitby, but this one is right off the 401, and across the street from many restaurants. I had booked it online and had my confirmation with me, including the room description, price and cost for having an extra person in the... more
After traveling all day in Canada my husband and I were pooped by mid-evening. We came across this Holiday Inn Express right off the interstate and decided to inquire about a room. For a business trip to Toronto I was staying three nights in the Holiday Express. The location is good, easy to access and not too close to the highway (more quieter), they have a new outdoor pool, very nice and clean, but because of next to the road not so nice for relaxing. The breakfast buffet was small but okay,... more
The room I stayed in was clean and bright. A great room set-up to make the most of space with a large TV and plenty of outlets. Fairly solid internet connection, good service, and the entryway was clean, bright and professional as well. The interior hallways have a weird carpet/door colour combination but thankfully I won't be sleeping in the... more
they have finished installing a salt water pool. its right next to the street so its nice but not as relaxing having traffic coming through 10 feet away. nice location close to brock st with the bars and night clubs and close to all food.
We recently stayed here when work was progressing in our home not far from here. The rooms were very clean! Breakfast included and they also now have a beautiful outdoor pool! If you are staying in this area go here! Staff helpful also. Prices could be a bit better but overall very good. NO smell of smoke whatsoever and I... more
My husband and I stayed at this hotel in the jacuzzi suite. The room stunk like smoke. Just absolutely reeked of smoke. The hotel obviously knew about this, as when we first went in the windows were wide open and the heat was blasting.
We went and complained to the front desk and asked to be moved to another jacuzzi...

Except in the odd case, you know what you'll get when you book at a Holiday Inn and this one does not disappoint. The hotel is comfortable and very close to GO Station Whitby. Rooms are decent and fine for business travel.
Pros:

1) No coin laundry facility
2) ATM at hotel does not accept Visa card

I stayed at this location over the weekend and had an amazing time! We were only there for one night, but everything was great!! From the friendly front desk to the tidiness of the room; we enjoyed ever bit of our stay here and will come back to this hotel next time we're travelling through this area!
Stayed for one night after our wedding, room smelt like smoke, the front desk never answered the phone, phone call at 430am? We needed a wakeup call at 7am not 430. Never Again will we stay at a Holiday Inn. Plus the room was almost $200.
We stayed at the Marriot the next time, way better service and cheaper.

This was a 2 day Business Stay.
Front Desk Staff were very Friendly, and Pleasant.

All staff very friendly, front desk, cleaning staff, breakfast staff...everyone!! The rooms were clean and comfy - firm and soft pillows The breakfast was yummy, eggs, sausage, biscuits, cereal, bagels, coffee, fruit. Tv had lots of options.
Good location, right across from some fast-food places, adjacent to a food court, and a couple of restaurants. Excellent breakfast restaurant across the road, but the included breakfast is A-OK.
Very easy access on and off Hwy 401. Rooms are quiet and nice, with comfortable, clean linens, nice bathrooms. Very good value.
We were at a baseball tournament and I used my points for a free night's stay. We were welcomed in, and in our room in no time. The continental breakfast was fresh and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. I always find the Holiday Inn to be clean and a safe bet.
We stayed here on July 8th and 9th while visiting Toronto and my sister in law who lives in Oshawa. Check in was a breeze, beds were comfortable, hot continental breakfast was above average. I booked this hotel after 1 previous excellent experience with HIE (in Dieppe) and I chose this HIE over Best Western Durham (which btw is about $30 cheaper for the same: bed and breakfast).

We stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding close by. It had everything we needed plus a fridge and microwave. Not a fancy hotel, but modern and clean.
Sorry, but the Marriott Inn & Suites right beside the HIE would have been a better choice. When we first arrived in the room, we were anxious to use the washroom, after a day of traveling. It's a Holiday Inn Express... a glorified Motor Hotel... so it is pretty basic as far as hotels go. Rooms are unspectacular as you would expect.
