My partner and I stayed at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure for one night over the New Year's holiday, and overall, this hotel is basically the straw that broke the camels back that made me switch my hotel loyalty from Hilton to Starwood.

I stayed here with a group of friends for the week around New Years and it was a really good experience.

- Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. There was always someone around to help you out - whether you needed directions or someone to help you with your bags.

I wish there is a 3.5 stars. I actually LOVE the hotel, and it would have got a 4 or 5 for me. I especially like the pool, it is great to be able to swim under the stars! Like the fact that it does not decorated like a chain hotel, even Hilton is a chain. It has a boutique hotel feel to it.
As far as service is concern, some staffs are good and some staffs are just so so.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it for the following reasons:
-Located right above the Bonaventure Metro station
-Despite being above the subway, you don't hear anything as you are 30 levels above.
-Rooftop pool and garden
-Located in downtown and 10 minute walk from Old Montreal.
-Very friendly staff
While these all contributed to my enjoyment, a few things need improvement...

You want to stay here,

Business trip brought me to Montreal. Room was clean and contemporary. Bed was comfortable. Coffee was really good that hotel served at business meetings.
I would recommend hotel for business travelers. Close walking distance to sights.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in March 2014. Since we were taking the train from New York to Montreal, the fact that this hotel was adjacent to the Gare Centrale appealed to me. The ground level "lobby" (the room with elevators to take you to the actual lobby) was relatively easy to find, once I got my bearings. Stayed for 5 days and 4 nights. The trip was business but extended for personal reasons. The outdoor pool in the middle of winter is brilliant - what a fantastic experience and I'm not typically a pool guy. My husband and another couple recently had the misfortune of staying at this awful hotel. We brought along our two dogs as we normally would. When I come back to Montreal I will not be staying at this hotel. When I arrived to my room there was a very annoying rattling noise. I found that it was coming from the side lamp. I had to chill some water that I bought (that's... plus
Pricey but its in the middle of everything. Awesome swimming outdoors during winter. More signs to the hotel would help a lot. Got a little lost from the gare central
First Impression:
I stayed at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure for a New Years Eve holiday from December 28th 2013 to January 1st 2014. Walking in to the main lobby I was easily amazed as I viewed the year round open outdoor pool through their large glass walls. The scene of an in-ground heated pool surrounded by small snow mountains was elegant but at the same time displayed a playful scene....

1st Visit To Montreal. Nice staff, nice room. Great bartenders! Close to sites, will visit again!!!
Did not like this hotel at all. You enter from the street into a small foyer and an elevator takes you to the 14th floor to the front desk. Okay, but only two elevators? Are you terrified of robots?
The reason I ask is because the layout of this hotel reminds of some futuristic community (as imagined by early 1970's film directors). Hilton atop a office building, sorry can't be 4 star, but it is unique in a couple of ways like the pool in winter is amazing and warming, it has 5 feet indoor, and than u swim under to the outdoor pool with ice cold wind outside, it smokes up 10' high, it looks and feels like ur in a kettle, delicious. The hallways have concrete designed walls with huge mahogany doors looks a little like an... plus
The Hotel Bonadventure was a plus for us. We came to Montreal from NYC on the Amtrak train, and the hotel is right above the train station. We chose the hotel because of our train travel and because we were unfamiliar with the city. In that it was just before Christmas, it was very cold outside. Connected to the underground city, we were able to spend our whole time in the complex without... plus
“Excellent location to transportation, shopping, dining and Old Montreal. Staff in the Belvedere Lounge was very helpful to us. Great recommendations for dinner and local attractions. Gold star employee.”
“The Hilton Bonaventure is a fabulous facility located in the heart of Montreal. Most of Montreal's finest restaurants and shopping experiences (la rue Ste. Catherine) are steps away and there is a subway (metro) station under the building and a train station across the street. The rooms are modern and comfortable with all expected amenities. There is a roof top garden and outdoor heated pool.”
“This is a failed urban experiment - the 10th and 11th floors of an office building. Long corridors and small rooms. Wouldn't recommend or want to stay there again, not a 4 star hotel. Hotel staff barged in without knocking.”
“Despite being located in somewhat of a wasteland in the downtown core it nonetheless offers many amenities. The room was spacious, clean & comfortable. The concierge & front desk were accommodating. It offers a bit of a reto trip, era Expo 67. I would think families would enjoy the outdoor pool facilities. For wandering the more hip areas of Montreal (The Village, The Plateau, Mile End) it's a... plus
“The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to everything! The staff is very friendly and they have great amenities. The corridors to the rooms are in desperate need of an update. The rooms themselves are very nice with fabulous beds and modern bedding. The bathroom was not very clean when we checked in, nor were the mugs in the coffee maker. It is little things like that will make you take a... plus
“Standard business hotel with a great location, rooftop trees and water made you forget you were downtown.”
“Over the hotel met with my high expectations (I have done a lot of traveling). It is a nice place to stay in Montreal. Clean, friendly and professional. It is close to the downtown core as well. What else can you ask for? I would stay there again.”
“The location is perfect for business travelers because of its location in the Business District. This hotel is on the top floor of the building and you have to walk up or down 5 to 15 steps to get to rooms, which wasn't that easy dragging luggage. The breakfast buffet was great and the rooms were excellent. Most of all the pool and the poolside bar were very relaxing additions to enhance our... plus
“The Hilton was located right in the middle of downtown. There was a Subway in basement of the hotel so it was easy to get around to all parts of the city. You could also walk to many areas as well. The room was a lot bigger then I expected and very clean. The only thing I did not like about the hotel was the hallways because the carpet was ugly and the walls were cement.”
“We enjoyed our stay here. The room and beds were comfortable, the location was ideal for walking to the old town and other attractions. We loved the pool and garden areas, which were beautiful and which enhanced the property's visual appeal.”
Very odd place for a hotel. It is the top two floors of an office building. It is indeed right on the Underground which you might have trouble navigating on Sundays. The beds are nothing special, the rooms are okay if you get one that overlooks the city or the pool. The pool though... the hotel has a heated rooftoop pool that is open year round. It has a small piece that goes into the locker... plus
This hotel was a refreshing breath of fresh air after my stay at the Holiday Inn. This hotel is connected directly to the underground, so you can avoid going outside in the winter. There is also a pool where you actually swim outside from the locker rooms. So how was the cleanliness? It was very good. The bathroom was clean and the room looked like it had been vaccumed that day. I was... plus
“Well appointed rooms in beautiful nature setting including a stream with fish and ducks and even a 6 foot swimming pool all located on a rooftop in downtown Montreal- what is not to like.”
“We were pleased with the service in light of the rotating hotel strikes in Montreal. We had relatives staying at the Hyatt and they were not looked after very well (no room cleaning service).”
“Hilton Bonaventure was an excellent choice with a great restaurant and location was excellent.”
“Weird layout. The lobby was on the roof of the hotel with rooms located there with office buildings in the other floors.”
The location was very good. Few minutes away from everything from Chinatown, shopping malls, touristic attractions to the Old Montreal. The room was clean and good space for work. I think that the wireless internet service should be free.
“Besides the other comments I made, They should have provided free WIFI in the rooms. The lobby was crowded with laptops. Room was cleaned until very late afternoons, I suppose one could request earlier attention if it was needed.”
“The staff was very helpful. The rooms were very nice and immaculate. The health club was very large and well equipped. The pool was beautifully designed, with a back drop of many of the city's skyscrapers. There is a rooftop garden/Arboretum that helped give the hotel a peaceful and serene feel to it.”
“It would have been nice if they had let us know about the strike instead of covering it up.”
Some early problems upon checkin--safe was broken and AC was not functioning properly. Staff was unapolegetic, but did solve the problems. I feel they should not have happened. Bed was comfortable but room was small and bathroom was not up to par for price. Overall, staff was pleasant and helpful. However, there was a ministrike with employees that impacted our stay.
“Overall, the hotel exceeded our expectations. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great location, and a little wilderness in the city made this one of the most memorable stays in recent memory.”
“Would have been nice if the cleaning staff would have flushed the toilet after using it!”
“I would use it again, staff was very friendly, location is excellent, has a very nice outdoor setting.”
“Nice hotel in central Montreal. Pool and roof top garden makes it feel like a resort hotel. The were friendly to customers giving us some flexibility.”
“This is one of the greatest unknown oasis in Montreal in the summer you feel like you are in a resort in a metropolitan city with pool surrounded by trees and ponds with ducks, escaped the noise and excitement of the city and sleep, with no traffic noises, really very quiet and you don't hear any noises from the neighbors since the walls must be cement the building material of this complex.... plus
“The quality of the hotel and its services was excellent. It's location was very scenic and easy to walk to/from. Walking to/from it late in the night was iffy as the surrounding streets are not well lit.”
