Went to Hank's last week for an afternoon coffee with a friend and had a very good time. The Staff was incredibly friendly and the food was very good. It was a little dark in the room but otherwise it was a great time.
mmmm went here and had the roasted turkey club! It was so good! The cranberry mayo was my favourite! So delicious and fresh! Definitely coming to take-out from here again!
The soup at hanks might even be better than my mom's!!! Im absolutely in love with it, and the espresso is great too!!! I could eat at Hanks every day of the week, Bouns - they use local ingredients!!!!!
Hank's manager Angie just wants people to know their location, that's all. So maybe 9 1/2 Church St is a weird address, but when you're the delightful sidekick to Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar, you could go addressless and people would still find you. And anyway, Angie feels it in her bones that Hank's will be one of Toronto's best coffee houses soon enough! Bones that are warmed by Hank's hearty... more
We met up with an out of town friend here for a late lunch (in the form of brunch). This highlights one of this place's most valuable assets - its location as near both transit hubs and tourist spots, while being just removed enough from the action for some piece and quiet. We walked over, along Front St., from Union... more
This place is great for Breakfast and for Lunch - i have not tried it for dinner. Its small enough to be intimate but big enough for a gaiety of menu items
Hank's is the place to go for those of us who live in the neighbourhood. They do great breakfasts, brunches and lunches. Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and good food. They also do fund raising events for charity from time to time and customer appreciation nights. The Wine Bar next door is their sister restaurant and is also highly recommended.
Great service, even better food, and a killer '80s playlist! Breakfast poutine is world rocking and their specials are always delicious. Go see Mo and tell her Dan sent you... more
This little spot serves great breakfast and provides great service. Paul and Monique will give you that early morning smile with your meal and accommodate your needs should you have any. The prices are not too shabby either but note that they are only open for breakfast and lunch.
I had breakfast several mornings here during a trip to Toronto. The first time I went for a Hank's Benny including peameal bacon. Very generous portions and tasty food. Yoghurt and granola also very good. They also made the best cappuccino I had during my trip to Toronto. I was a bit thrown by the mason jars of water (... more
Found Hank's by accident while staying in Toronto's business district and was impressed with the menu, service and food
The services is so bad; the servers obviously don't care about people waiting. They're like whenever the next table is available, and if it fits three people, it's yours. We're like ok then we're going to wait. But we have to ask them three times after that!!! While the whole time, there're two empty tables (but with high chairs) right... more
And we enjoyed the meal thoroughly. The Hank burger and Hank side of fries was delish - loved the meat how it was seasoned and cooked and the toppings just right. The special of the day wrap with spicy sausage and salad side hit the spot. Service was fast and friendly and the paintings in the restaurant were really neat,... more
I work in the area and this is my go-to place for a great cappuccino in the morning, and often get the soup of the day for lunch. I know the food is all made in-house with fresh ingredients, and has never disappointed. The staff is friendly, and I like the rotating local art on the walls. This is a... more
Really friendly cafe in the St. Lawrence Market area of Toronto. Staff are wonderful, the food is great, and it's a lovely place to eat. What more can you ask? The food is delicious, well presented, and it's good no matter what time of day you're there. Hank's staff give back to the community and host an evening event annually... more
One of my fav go to places in the neighbourhood. Food, service is great no matter when I am there. Love that they give back to their community as well.
It wouldn't be Saturday morning without family shopping at the St Lawrence Market and breakfast at Hank's. Monique is possibly the best server in Toronto. She always makes everyone welcome and it's a great breakfast. The small plates in the wine bar are great too.
Whenever we stay in a hotel her the Esplanade in Toronto, we try to have breakfast at Hanks. It is a small town feel with a big city selection. The staff are always great and it seems that they have come to recognize us, despite only dining there four or five times per year. Hank's prices may be a little... more
Really good food... at reasonable price... and quick!... friendly staff!
Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
We chose Hank's based on a description in the "Where" in Toronto tourist magazine. It sounded like it had interesting food in a sort of diner atmosphere. The cloth napkins should have been a clue that the prices for their offerings would be higher than diner prices. I ordered an avocado and vegetable salad. Although it was quite nice, the... more
We went for Sunday brunch on our first morning in Toronto as it was close to the Novotel where we were staying. Great food and service and we ended up going back another two occasions during our visit. I can recommend Hank's Benny which is their take on eggs benedict.
Nice staff a welcoming environment for a tasty brunch meal. Be aware that the restaurant is only open breakfast & lunch.
Good food with awesomely friendly staff. The breakfast poutine is recommended. It is a short walk from downtown or Harbour Square. It is small so it fills fast.
We stayed at the Novotel just up the road and were looking for breakfast nearby. Really glad we stopped by - great breakfast and atmosphere.
Place is hardly noticeable on Church Street, but it's well worth finding. 2 minute walk from St. Lawrence Market. Six people had breakfast, each ordering different entrees including "Cheesy Eggs", "Breakfast Sandwich", "Cinnamon French Toast" and "Avocado BLT". We all really, really liked it. Be ready for STRONG coffee! Great little place. Highly recommend!
We spent three nights in Toronto and had breakfast here two mornings! They had a good selection to choose from.
We also ate in the attached burger restaurant one evening.
The staff in both restaurants were very friendly.
Sat on the patio...best Caesar salad with chicken it had ao much flavor. delicious juicy burger. Not a very big menu .Friendly staff I would recommend this to a friend and also return .
Wow...
i ca't remember the last i went 4 times in a row to eat in the same place ( in a vacation)
Firat of all the atmosphere is excellent.
the service is better than all services i'vd experienced.
the breakfast is great and very healthy.
MINT TEA...............ohhhhg i miss u already
So THANKS HANK'S
Each Saturday we shop, then stop at Hank's for breakfast--their quest for quality foods shows up in the taste of their baked goods, meats, eggs and cheeses. Happily for tea drinkers, they also have an array of loose teas, so you can mix and match your own. Lunches and dinners have been wonderful there, as well, with delicious soups.
A cozy spot for a delicious lunch. Staff were very efficient and the food delicious. Salads are very creative, and you can add substance with sides of meat, chicken and smoked salmon. My salad with pecans and dried cranberries with smoked salmon was filling and fresh. A good selection of wines by the glass were available to wash it down.... more
I am so grateful to a friend who lives in the St. Lawrence market neighborhood for introducing me to this little gem; tucked away below Front on Church it surprises pleasantly by being quite trendy and stylish with a great bar area as well as a few prime window spots with comfy tub chairs. The rest of the space has... more
Our friends go here every saturday before they go to St. Lawrance market. We sometimes go with them and this place is amazing. All their variations of eggs benedict are great and they have the best lattes. Good service and lots of regulars, this is the place to go fod brunch.
Had a great brunch here. Smallish place but nicely put together. My son loved the breakfast pontine.
Overall, I have been very disappointed with most of the food I've tried in Toronto, however this exceeded my expectations. My breakfast was perfect, poached eggs, smoked salmon, and hollaindaise, all absolutely perfect! Worth it!
6 of us went to Hank's yesterday morning for breakfast. We seem to hit a lull in the crowd and were able to be seated right away. It was busy here, but we were greated right away and coffee followed. All of us enjoyed our large breakfasts and the prices are very reasonable.
We did make one mistake, we went...

I had high hopes fro Hank's. I read good reviews about it and was very excited.
I ordered the eggs benedict and my breakfast partner order the Dutch pancakes. I asked for my eggs to be hard, not runny and was told it's not a problem. So far, so good.
30 min later we still didn't get out food... the...

We discovered Hank's via the Toronto Travel Magazine in our hotel room. It was within walking distance and described as an upscale Diner type restaurant, a good description. I had Bacon and Eggs and I was very pleased. The bacon was crispy as I had asked for, the homefries were a surprise. They appeared to be deep fried cubes of... more
My friends and I visit Hanks every Thursday afternoon, where we are always met with smiles and great service. They always find a space for us "old ladies" even when they are setting up for special evening parties. I also breakfast there on Saturday and Sunday when I can, along with lunches on occasions
Great location, great atmosphere, and great food. What else could you ask for. I'm a regular for brunch and am never disappointed. The food is always fresh and fast. Can't wait to go back!
Not only an awesome breakfast (I indulged and had breakfast poutine, wife had dutch oven pancake), but nice atmosphere and was super relaxing. It wasn't loud and clanky at all and the digs were soft and homey feeling. Did I mention relaxing? The coffee was brewed well, our waitress was attentive and the price was more than reasonable. We found... more
Enjoy Hank's a for a few reasons - it provides a good, consistent breakfast, at a good price. Never have to wait in line, unlike many other brunch places in Toronto - but this may change as condos are developed in the area. Right now it is like a hidden, secret gem. Have tried many items on the menu, but... more
I visited Hanks on the recommendation of a friend. Love the decor and local art for sale on the walls. Had the Hank's Burger with fries and a sampling of their house beer, (brewed at a neighboring restaurant). Service was good and prices were reasonable. Great place in a nice quiet neighborhood.
Brunch here is absolutely delightful. the service was excellent. The food was very flavorful. The prices were extremely reasonable. I will make a point of frequenting whenever in town.
We picked this place because we were on our way to the island ferry and this place was on the way and it took AMEX.
We had the cinnamon roll French toast, eggs Benny and eggs poutine (maybe 2000 calories!). My daughter wanted a Caesar salad (at 10am) and they made it for her. The food was absolutely delicious with...

Twice we went informing the server of a Gluten intolerant customer. Each time they still served with non Gluten bread for their sandwich. The dish was corrected on both occassion but the final dish was subpar due to the fact that it was rushed to correct the order. Although the restaurant provides an alternative of Gluten free bread, people who... more
Great soup and homemade chips. Cozy cool establishment.
Had breakfast here three times -- each time $10-$11-- while staying at the nearby King Edward Hotel. They open early as they're quite close to the St Lawrence Market. Service was friendly enough, coffee was really good, the bread is homemade. I had eggs benny, a scrambled egg and cheese sandwich, scrambled egg platter -- all of them good and... more
On a three day visit to Toronto we ate breakfast here twice because it was so good. They make the best Hollandaise sauce I've ever had, not overly thick and with just the right amount of lemon. Also, as much as I love bacon I am a little picky about it, and they cooked it perfectly.
First had the cheddar...

A friend and I were in Toronto for a concert and decided to try Hank's for brunch before heading home. We were staying at the Strathcona Hotel by Union Station so Hank's is a short walk. From the name, I was expecting a type of diner but was pleasantly surprised by the more upscale decor.
The breakfast menu had something...
