TORONTO'S BEST WINE & BEER, MAKING PLACE '98, '99, 2000 and 2001, AS VOTED BY NOW MAGAZINE; wine and beer making equipment and supplies
I had never made wine before but I decided to give it a try. So I looked online and saw a lot of good things about Fermentations, so I tried it out. I am so glad I did! It was really easy and the end result was REALLY tasty! I had a blast! Maybe next time I'll inquire into the beer making...

Fermentations is simply the best. We've been loyal fans and customers for years now. Challenging Scott and Greg to duplicate beers we've tried and never dissapointed with the results! We are also happy testers for the various experimentations that they get up to, pushing the bounds of beer convention to come up with new and delicious concoctions!
Fermentations is the best. They can design a beer for your individual tastes, the staff are great and so knowledgeable about beer! Fermentations will change how you view homebrew beer. .
A must-visit if you like good beer.
We have been coming to Fermentations for the past five years and have never been disappointed! These folks are super knowledgeable, friendly, and willing to experiment. Greg and Scott, and their combined beer-y knowledge, make brewing a breeze. Charles is our go-to guy for wines and ciders. There have been many times when we have come in and asked them to try to make a beer that we have tasted in other parts of the world (for instance, some of the great American microbrews) and they have always produced exceptional beers. We have mostly avoided the LCBO and the Beer Store since we started brewing here and we have no regrets!
Going to Fermentations was the best idea my boyfriend and I had!
We were able to get a very education seminar on wine, grapes and tasting plus we got 40 delicious bottles of Pinot Noir.
You definitely need to take a look at this place to get great tasting wine for half the cost you would at the LCBO!
Thank you so much to Charles, you made our first wine making experience definitely worth wile!
See you soon for our 3rd batch ;)
Awesome experience at Fermentations, first time I ever made my own wine. Staff was very informative and helpful, and the wine tastes better than most wines I've had from the LCBO. I pre-ordered my next batch from when the grapes come in from Chile. Probably the best wine making experience in Toronto, because I'll definitely do it again.
They're Awesome!
I've been there many times and every time I'm impressed. The staff there really know their profession! Very friendly staff, always willing to help in any way and have plenty of useful advice.
When I first looked at their prices I thought "Wow that seems like a lot of money" and it is because you're buying in bulk (compared to the beer store). When you make a batch you get about 46 pints (or 66 approx. 341ml bottles) . You get a bigger bang for your buck and you get a significantly higher quality product! When you do the math its less than $2 a pint, for the same or better than what you'd get at a bar!
The selection is great and they can customize your batch any way you want. I really like that they are always trying new things.
My personal favourites have been their wheat beers. When I ordered my first batch, I ordered their Hefeweizen. Then Charles asked me if I wanted it filtered. I had no idea, so he explained the differences and also suggested bottle conditioning for the best results. I agreed and in the end, I was very impressed when I compared it to my favourite imported wheat beer. Since my first batch I made a few other wheat beers and my current beer that I'm drinking is their cold fermented honey lager :).
We've done three batches of beer at Fermentations -- a wheat beer, a stout and an IPA -- and loved each of them. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable and hasn't steered us wrong yet.
I had to come in and write a follow up to my review--I went last night to bottle my wine (I ordered Pinot Noir a couple months ago) and it is OUTSTANDING! And the most exciting thing is the wine is still a baby--I can't wait to see what it tastes like in a few months!
I went to Fermentations to prospect Christmas gifts and a potential wedding gift for my sister and I was incredibly happy with my experience!
Charles and his staff are so knowledgeable and even let me paddle grapes from Chile that I am later going to bottle in September as my very own wine!
This is a good thing to keep in mind because bottling it in September means it has time to age before Christmas!
I will definitely be recommending this experience to my engaged sister as a great way for the whole bridal party to chip in and help with the wine for the reception.
I am very excited to go back in September to bottle my Pinot Noir--there's still some available so get in quick it's amazing!
