Very clean, but tired staff and tired furniture

Ideal for a clean, comfortable bed at just over $100. Expect furniture from the 1970s, clean, in good shape, but tired. Staff at front desk reminded me of France in their lack of desire to do anything to help you.

overall fine experience, i was just having difficulty sleeping as there wasn't a good sound proofing between rooms and the heating system or duct was so noisy when it activate so i was using earplugs when sleeping, otherwise everything was pleasant and the room was big (2 queen beds room)

The hotel has very friendly staff, it is a clean hotel and very comfortable. It's nice to have a room with a balcany.

Our experience was bad, pay the extra $10/night more and go elsewhere. No cold water in bathroom sink, slow water flow. Air conditioning didn't work so room too hot. Bug found on bed cover! So gross. Nice suite in downtown Ottawa

The bachelor suite is very big and the beds are quite comfortable. The full kitchen has everything you need to make breakfast or simple meals and the housekeepers even cleaned our own pot and bowels etc everyday. My husband and I enjoyed the stay very much.

We booked this hotel for 4 adults and 1 infant (co-sleeping). The hotel room was clean with handy amenities: stove, microwave, large fridge, electric kettle, toaster, dishes and cutlery. We stayed for one night and we had a relaxing and quiet experience.

Comfotable, clean, central and very affordable

I had a meeting for 1 day. So, 2 nights at this hotel. It was close to shopping, eating places, grocery store and the location for the my meeting. It was a quiet and relaxing hotel in the evening. I had a 10 minute pleasant walk to my meeting. Overall, it was wonderful experience. This is the 3rd time that I have stayed at this hotel in the last 6 months....I am a fan!

Serviceable.

I have stayed here as last resort in Downtown Ottawa before. The building is worn out as is most everything in it. It is however reasonably clean, the staff are pleasant and it is well located. Parking can be a problem.

Dingy hotel in need of a refresh. The first room they gave me was occupied. The 2nd one was clean, but had no desk. Clearly, not a good hotel for a business traveller who needs to work in their room., though the wifi did work fine. Daily paper was delivered early and breakfast was a good value. Vacation in Ottawa

Two days in Ottawa on vacation. Embassy is close to sights, as well as restaurants. Quiet neighborhood, near residential area. Parking is a bit of a problem - we had to park on the street the first night, but the desk staff accomodated us with a spot early the next morning. We appreciated their friendly helpfulness.

Hotel is in a great location from most attractions and restaurants. Hotel building is old and mediocre at best. Bathroom shower could use some upgrade. Finding parking on a week day is tough, and hotel parking is limited.

There were 9 of us in a 2 bedroom suite. It was perfect for all of us with all the beds and they put a cot in the room as we requested. I called down for extra towels and got them as requested. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Not a three star hotel?

Upon check in we got a smokers room with outdated furniture, my doughter said it was like an old ladies house. We then got moved to another room that did not smell like a smokers room, however it was just as old and the beds were very outdated, including the bedding. Let's say that it was not cheap either. We did not even have parking available to us.

Its dated and some of the furniture is tacky, but its clean, bright big rooms, a quiet bar-resto downstairs, and the location is fantastic for visiting Ottawa. If you need the Hilton or higher quality, avoid. But, its not a budget, run-down hotel. Its a bit older but the quality is sound; your wife will be ok staying there.

The hotel is close tothe downtown core - walk to most place in less then 10 to 15 minutes. The By-Ward market is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Hotel is well kept and the rooms are clean. The kitchenette is a nice bonus.

Well positioned hotel. The rooms contain kitchenettes and are of a decent size. We found it clean and reasonably priced although a little outdated.

Nothing too fancy at this hotel. Everything is a bit outdated. The best thing is the location. Close to Elgin St. and walking distance to the Market area. There are many better options in the area but the best value for the dates I was staying was through Skoosh at this hotel. I would stay here again if the price was right, but wouldn't be thrilled about it.

The only thing that was a little upsetting was the lack of parking. We were lucky enough to park on the street near by. The Hotel did there best to accommodate.

Decent stay for a decent price

After reading many reviews on tripadvisor regarding this hotel, I was prepared for a run-down, and outdated room. However, to my surprise it certainly met the expectations of an "average" hotel room as opposed to a lower end style I was expecting. great location, helpful staff

This hotel is close to everything downtown, just behind city hall. We found front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance staff to be friendly and helpful. Yes, the suites are somewhat tired, but everything works and it is great value for the price. Even though it is one block from the Elgin Street action, the hotel is quiet.

The price is right, BUT

This hotel is in a great location and the price is excellent. However it is getting a bit run down and is in need of some major updating. Spacious room, handy position

As others have said, the hotel is close to Parliament Hill, the canal and other points of interest. We enjoyed the Museum of Nature (also within walking distance of the hotel).

Abusing staff

The hotel room was okay. The room airconditioning was not easy to control. Above all, the Staff was absolutely horribe.This is what happened:I checked in on Saturday and they gave a big room and I was happy and on Monday morning I was running to the meeting to attend the cleaning lady who met me asked me "when are you checking out?". We'd read a few reviews about the dated decor so when we walked through the suite door back into the 60's it wasn't a surprise.The suite had a very large lounge with belcony, dining and well equipped kitchen - which gave us four adults plenty of room to spread out. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I can't stress that enough. We stayed in an old dated room, for $500 a night with an air conditioner that didn't work, a jacuzzi that was broken, and a TV that wouldn't turn on. A good place to stay if you (1) want to be downtown, (2) are on a bit of a budget, and (3) want a big room -- i.e. want a kitchenette or have a few people with you. There are also a lot of restaurants in the neighbourhood.

If you are driving watch out - they have very limited hotel parking, which they charge for. So, you get to park on the street at a meter, free after 5PM and before 8AM, but you better get up and feed the meter before 8AM or you WILL get a ticket and keep feeding it all day if you stay!!! Not my idea of a good place to stay, especially with so many other nice places here.

Embassy Suites in Ottawa

Check-in was a breeze. Room was surprisingly large and clean. Internet was adequate. My biggest complaint is that I had to pay for parking.

Good stay

Great hotel for the price. Location was perfect - right downtown. The room was nice and large, the staff were friendly, but the bed and pillow were not particularly comfortable. The heater/AC is centrally controlled so that's kind of annoying. For downtown, 10$ per night parking is great. Overall great value.

Excellent value

The Emabassy Suite is extremely good value for money in that it offers full suites for the price of a mid-level hotel in a reasonable location. It gave me the chance to bring the family along on a business trip and everyone had a good time.

While this is an older hotel, it offers good, large, well appointed rooms, with reasonable kitchenette amenities. My stay was for two weeks, and in that time the only concern I had was the unpredictability of hot water in the morning. Nice place, large rooms. Bar and restaurant closed for holidays was a disappointment but nice places within walking distance.

great place to stay in Ottawa

This is a neat hotel in downtown Ottawa, close to everything. I had a good experience. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were great and it was cheaper than other hotels in the area. One thing I would like to point out is that the parking is not free and that you have to pay per day. However, there is almost no free parking in downtown Ottawa. I highly recommend it.

Great location, great value

Embassy Suites has an amazing location, right off the Rideau Canal and some 10 minutes away (on foot) from the Parliament and 15 minutes from the Byward Market. We stayed in a bachelor suite. The room was rather big, the kitchen was fully equipped and we had a walk-in closet. The hotel was also quiet and very clean. Would definitely stay there again.
