Built in 1834, the oldest surviving home in London contains heirlooms and furnishings that belonged to the original owners, Captain John and Amelia Harris.
Year round the staff at Eldon House are open with special events. I have been to almost all and loved everything that the day offered. Christmas decor is my favourite because in my own Heritage Home ( FLEX-STAFF) short term rental, I have used their simple decorations from the passed to delight our guests. You can learn these tips and... more
My friend and I went and had a lovely experience exploring this grand old home. I would go again. Next time in the summer.
We are big fans of where it all began so if you feel the same, don't miss this museum. The staff is dressed in period costume and the furnishings are original or original to the period. Watch for the tile work around the fireplaces. Not like a castle, but lots to see, so plan at least a couple of hours.... more
We decided to check out the Eldon house after being disappointed with the Museum London as part of open doors London. It was a pleasant surprise! Saw and learned more about the history of London here, then at the museum. Saw many of the artifacts I craved to see at the museum here. Spoke to two of the staff members... more

Have been twice. Once on Mother's Day and once on Father's Day for their "Strawberry Social". Peaceful, idyllic setting. Old-fashioned tea party! Able to accommodate a gluten-free diet. Tour of Eldon House is a lovely surprise. Very well preserved & much larger than it appears.
I went to Eldon House with our family a couple times (live here). It was educational for our children and I loved the feel of "going back in time". The service at Eldon House is excellent, rooms are fabulous and every time I learned a little something new about how people lived back "when". Also, it was extremely interesting to... more
It is a beautiful old house inteh heart of London. Used to belong to a well off family, we can have a time travel and let us imagine and relive their lives in that era.
The guides are excellent.
My mom loved it! There is a large collection of artifacts from all over the world displayed. They also have seasonal strawberry tea functions.
A very nice place to visit. It give you an good view on life of a wealthy family a couple centuries ago. Well maintained and organized place. Staff is competent and available.
Worth a visit.
This house is well preserved and has trained staff to help guide your visit. They are there to inform you, but don't get in the way.
Tea and Strawberry Short Cake, beautiful spring afternoon. Tea was nice and so was the short cake. The tour afterwards was great. The volunteer was very knowledgable. I have been a number of times, but I always see something new when I go back.
Very interesting place to visit. Lots to see. The place is very well maintained and is a great glimpse into the past.
I've been to a few historic houses and find this one to be the right size and feels more accessible than others. Apparently there was a group before us and we were the only ones in the house and had the full attention of the guide. Since it's still early Spring, we did not get to enjoy the garden and... more
For a true historical experience it cannot be beaten. Life in the 1800s as lived by one of the families crucial to London history. Be certain to stop by for summer tea or a tour. The most authentic experience you will have in London.

Antique lovers paradise with seasonal settings showing what the occupants would be doing during the winter months, Labour Day, Thanks Giving Day and Christmas' past. Wonderful and enlightening tour of the old. well preserved house.
looking for a quiet and private venue this is it, we were here for a graduation dinner a while back food was excellent and service was excellent (understated and elegant)
I am not a historic buff, but my girlfriend likes to go to these things. The day we went was an anniversary of sorts and they were giving free tours. Overall I still enjoyed it, and they host lots of events throughout the year. One of which is a Christmas Dinner, but they also have the haunted house during halloween.... more
It was brilliant -educated guides sweep you through the halls of Londons 1st famous family at the fork of the Thames, I have been many times and each time it is enchanting!
The story of this house is a fascinating one. It is the oldest residence in London, and the home of four generations of the Harris family. Their furnishings and collections are largely intact. It is a self-guided tour, with an introduction provided by a staff member at the beginning. Staff were also available to answer questions as we went along.... more
This has been kept very well restored. Probably due to the fact that it remained a residence until it was dontaned in the 1960's. The amount of authentic furnishings was beautiful. I liked that you you were taken on a tour but could also walk around by yourself.

Take a few minutes next time in London, Ontario to visit this old stately home. Charming, well preserved home with period decor.
An amazing experience. Beautiful decor. Staff knowledgeable.
Beautifully restored late Victorian house with informative guides. Pretty grounds. In summer offer old fashioned afternoon teas.
This old home is very well laid out with mostly original furniture and artifacts from the original family. Delightful volunteer staff. Do go in the spring when all of the spring flowers are out and the red bud is in full bloom.
Allow at least an hour to see all the details properly. Amazing dining room, open the door in the closets to see all the old clothes hanging. It's like the former owner just popped out a minute ago.
It is always a pleasure to go to Eldon House: I have been going since I was a child and every time I see something different to appreciate about the way this family lived in decades gone by.
We attended afternoon tea at Eldon House on a beautiful summer afternoon in July with an out-of-town visitor. Eldon House is a large mansion built in 1834 as the private residence of the Harris family and was donated to the city in 1960.Tea is served on the lawn in the very private treed backyard, beside the formal Victorian flower garden... more
During Open Houses, we toured Eldon House which is downtown less than two blocks from my son's condo. Eldon House is unusual as far as period museums as it was donated to the city of London (in 1959) complete with most of the furnishings that the family had accumulated over 100+ years. If I remember what our tour guide said, the family took their china set and a few personal things, but left... more
