Just getting to writing this review even though we visited this restaurant in June. We like Mexican and was interested in trying Salvadoran cuisine. There was free parking in a lot next to building which was a plus. We ordered margaritas, which were only ok. And the salsa that came with the chips was not spicy enough and could have... more
Reading reviews of this restaurant before trying got my boyfriend and I excited for some authentic Mexican food. When we arrived we were happy to see that the place was pretty full. We had a tight squeeze to sit at a table with patrons being within arms distance to the left and right of us. That part was okay until... more
Absolute let down for my girlfriend and myself. Location and parking are the bright spots for us.
$31.00 was the damage and we are NOT even thinking about a return visit.
The restaurant opened our dinner up with prompt service to stale hard nachos with canned tasting salsa? Could not taste any salantra or lime?
I ordered steak tacos and...

As a relative newcomer to London I've been on the hunt for a decent authentic Mexican restaurant - and finally found it. Not only Mexican, but other central American standards are on the menu as well. Enjoyed a sampler platter that included pupusas and had enough to take home for lunch the next day. Not exactly a classy restaurant -... more
I used to love El Ranchito and would order take out at least once a week. Lately, it has been very inconsistent in terms of service, quality and portion sizes. I have to be honest in saying that more often than not, I have been disappointed. Unfortunately, we are somewhat limited in where we order from for lunch at work.... more
Went there with friends late on a Saturday night. Food was very fresh. Try the uncooked nachos and the plantains.
We've been here before and enjoyed their food. This visit husband had burritos and thought I"d try the Bisteck a Cableo..... It wasn't great. I had asked before ordering if the meat was tender. Waitress assured me it was very tender, very very tender. It wasn't, it was so tough that I couldn't eat it. When she came to see... more
Came here for a dinner with friends and wow! A great surprise! A latin style place with all sorts of new foods to try. They gave us a room with a street view and the whole evening was awesome! Everything was fresh and very different. I recommend this as a place to take friends to try something news.
Walking into El Ranchito is like walking into a little dining establishment while away on holidays.
They have a varied menu which includes dishes from Central and South America. For people who have travelled to Latin countries, many of the dishes are very recognizable. They have food from Columbia, Mexico, El Salvador etc.
You can enjoy a breakfast, lunch or...

"One was a burrito, one was a chimichanga, both were filled with some kind of mushy interior that at one point Michelle identified as EGG. They were flavourless, too soft, and a big disappointment for those very standard Mexican dishes."

Had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant so decided to try it out and were really pleased that we did. The food was fresh, authentic and very tasty. They were able to substitute corn for wheat in any of the dishes that we wanted for the gluten free option. Will definitely be going back and also likely taking advantage of... more
We eat at this restaurant quick often, both eat in and take out.
The food is always very good and their menu offers many options, including a large amount of vegetarian dishes. The prices are very affordable and the servings are large.
Sadly, the service often is not great and they can get your order incorrect (which you won't be...

awesome food, nice people, fair pricing, unique menu, free nachos and salsa, beer to wash down the hot sauce
It was really good, the people were very nice but I was a little annoyed at how long they took to collect the check, seems a little understaffed but very good food.
This is a really great example of a family run restaurant with high quality, fresh, home cooked food! I have née to this restaurant abut five times now, amd have never been disappointed. The service is good, amd although the food is a little slow coming out, it is worth the wait. Food portions are good for the price, and... more
Had lunch; ordered the chimi-burrito combo for $9.50. They were very good as was the rice and bean side.
Like Latin? Go try it. You wont be disappointed. I have had better but it cost more.
I will certainly come back and tell others to try it.
Great place to eat, the food is always good and home made... So good I keep coming back! The service is a little slow, but since its family and they know how to cook first and serve second it's something I have no problem with... Get the combos, UNO or Dos, great with a beer!
El Ranchito is that typical restaurant with the ambience of a small town style, and the flavours of South America.
The table is served nachos and a house salsa to start. You can order any type of beverage, including Mexican Jarritos, and Dos Equis. (be adventurous and try one)
The tilapia is mouth watering and traditionally served whole, this includes...

Great authentic latin cuisine. I've been to Mexico and latin america for business and this is the closest I've been able to come to the authenti c stuff. The papusas are to die for and the flautas are a great starter.
I love this little restaurant! Service is a little slow and maybe not as polished as some would like but the value and the flavour of the food cannot be beat! The food is fresh and freshly prepared making it the most flavorful . Authentic South American food that makes my mouth water just writing about it. The family run... more
Have been there twice. Both times the service was awful. Went with a group and we all got our food at different times. Just not good enough. Too bad because we love South American food. Provide good customer service and don't make it like its your home. Kids running around and they were not customers kids.
I've been a regular at El Ranchito since it opened several years ago. It's one of those family run places where they remember you when you come in and you feel like part of the family. The food is always prepared fresh with hand made pupusas that are just brilliant. The menu has a wide variety of Latin dishes with... more
Our family of four loved this restaurant! Big servings of very tasty, authentic Latin American food. Service was fast and friendly, and they were quick to top up a drink if you wanted. We had the fajitas, burritos and chimichangas, and we all enjoyed our meals very much. Dessert was the perfect ending, we all ordered a different one and... more
What a fantastic taste of Latin American cuisine! The menu is authentic, and spans many different countries. The staff are more than wonderful in helping you chose what to try and explaining things. The portions are huge, and the desserts are delectable!
Superb central American / Latin American food. Always crowded so you may have a wait but worth it. Nothing Anglicized here (thank you!!!)
A fun mexican restaurant. Homemade chips and salsa are amazing. Food is good. Prices are economical.
First, its necessary to clarify this restaurant does not solely serve "Mexican" food, if you are looking for Mexican go to Under the Volcano. El Ranchito is Latin cuisine which involves far more than tacos and fajitas.
If you are looking for a variety or simply in the mood for sampling what Latin cuisine has to offer one of their...

This was our first time visiting El Ranchito and I expected a family run mexican restaurant to be better than the mexican franchises, but this was NOT the case. The premises is old, unattractive, and cluttered. The table server was not friendly and the service was provided with minimal effort. The food was very disapointing. We ordered the tacos and... more
The food was good, the pricing was OK. BUT, we had a group of four people, we were not greeted nicely at the door and told to "go sit over there", the waitress had no personality and I don't think I saw one employee smile the whole time we were there. Once our food came and was set down at... more
.......been here several times with, and, on the advice of, my kids and the place continues to impress.
The Combo dinners are fantastic - a good variety of very authentic, tasty Latin cuisine.
Service is friendly and as quick as it can be given the scale (small) of the operation.
I'll be back.
We love the food at this place and are always amazed at how much we get for how inexpensive the bill. Even the house salad is great and I have never in my life craved a house salad. Service was relatively quick and pleasant.
a hidden gem large selection of food and drinks and terrific atomsphere and great service ! 100!
Although El Ranchito has been a favourite for some time, our most recent visit there will be our last. Apparently the owners have taken over as managers and staff and clearly this is a mistake. Service was slow, staff unattentative, papousas sadly lacking sufficient filling (cost saving measure?), overcooked around the edges, both the salsa and guacamole were over spiced... more
One of my favorite places! We usually go there at least once a month, and yes I always order the same thing, Combo 2! Which is a little bit of everything. For under $10 you wont find a better deal, you will leave satisfied and very full! The food is great, awesome pupusa's & Enchiladas! Combo 2 includes 2 Pupusas... more
I love this place. The cheddar jalapeno soup is delicious, as are the mojitos. Its authentic, warm, friendly and comes complete with a Spanish man playing guitar, singing Spanish songs while you eat. Prices are extremely reasonable.
One of the best spots in London.
Nice menu, friendly service- small family run restaurant. Great selection of either meals or combos. Appetizers were great, meals were great (had combo #1) and deep fried ice cream better than we've had before.
Give it a try ... Latin American food NOT Mexican!
Great quiet spot with Mexican food. Pleasantly surprised, service was very attentive. Menu lets you choice different options and create your own meal. A must try.
OMG this is authentic! a nice combination of Latin food, try something new if you can, I love the jalapeños soup! you have to ask for it, it's not on the menu. try one of the combo dinners, you will not walk away hungry...specially after the deep fried ice cream.
The most authentic in town! Great food!
Service is so great. And when your there try their Mojito's, it's just like you were in Cuba
