Although I had great expectations of this place, it did not turn out to be so great, after all. The steaks that promised to be great were great and neither were the side orders. The desserts were also quite bad. Not recommended.
Twenty-five years ago, Japanese Village was my favourite restaurant, but the couple of times I've been as an adult, it has been good but not lived up to my memories of it. Recently my parents were in town and suggested Japanese Village for dinner. I looked up reviews on Trip Advisor and suggested that we tried Edoko instead. I was... more
Highly recommend this ottawa institution. Fantastic service and excellent food. Ignore the construction out front...not their fault. Loved the experience!!
This exceptional Japanese steak house has been having a bad summer due to downtown construction that has made it virtually invisible from Queen Street. Some potential patrons may assume that it is no longer accessible — but it is. The other night, it was practically empty, but the dinner as always was first rate. I had the striploin steak, beautifully... more
The best Japanese restaurant I have ever been! Good stuff, amazing food! We really have a great time there! Definitely recommend for visit.
I have tried several other Japanese Steakhouses in Ottawa and believe this is the best one. We went on a whim on Saturday night after our reservation was no honoured at another establishment (see my next review). It was lively with two birthday parties with one party filled with folks who seem to rarely leave home so they were quite... more
This is the best Japanese meal I've ever had. A fellow teacher came to town with 10 students for a conference and she chose this restaurant. We showed up at 8:15 and the restaurant was completely empty. It is in the business district, so I'm assuming it is very busy during lunch. Anyway, he gladly accommodated our large group and... more
We love places that are fun and are an experience for our kids who are 9 and 13. This was a great choice. We were staying at The Lord Elgin hotel for Winterlude. This restaurant was a 5 min walk from the hotel. The kids were entertained by the preparation of our meal at our table and loved the flames... more
A colleague and I discovered this restaurant downtown over a year ago. Since then, we have invited several guests and wowed them!
Their tempura is to die for, as is their duck, sushi and lunch specials.
So, if you have never been, do yourself and friends a favor and try it. You won't be disappointed!
Little restaurant located right in downtown Ottawa which means the place is quiet in the evening but usually full at lunch time. Sushi selection is great with fresh ingredient and some great combination. Teriyaki plates are mad in front of you on the hot plates which turn out in an entertaining kitchen lesson. Prices are reasonable given the quality of... more
This place is awesome, we just had an impromtu family reunion dinnet there. They looked aftet our every need. The foods fantastic, I would recommend the shrimp and the steak
I have never tried their sushi or sashimi, but the meals prepared at your table are a good value.
I have been here for a few times with business associates and, although the venue is not the best (lower level, dated interior decor, poor sound-proofing), it is clean and inviting.
The menu features a good variety of ingredients to choose...

I entertain my clients here, and the food and atmosphere is always pleasant.
The Saki-Caesar drink is really amazing.
We've been there as a family as well and dinners are well prepared as well.
It is not the most amazing place, but it is predictably always good. It is dependable, and you know you won't have a bad experience.
The...

The restaurant is situated just a couple of blocks away from Parliament Hill. We decided to make a reservation as we were going on a Friday evening. It was surprising when we arrived that we were the only customers in the restaurant. The teppenyaki meal was good and well priced but not memorable.
The staff were very attentive and the...

With so many Japanese restaurants in Ottawa, a restaurant need to stand above the crowd in order to get noticed. I found the location great, the service spotty and the food average. Okay for a quick meal but nothing special.
I had heard that the food here was good, and had a hankering for teppenyaki so I made the trek to edoko.
I sat down with a friend. there was one person seated upstairs, a couple at one of the other cooking tables, and one full table with a crowd starting to disperse. we were seated far from the kitchen,...

This restaurant is located a few minutes from Parliament Hill and during the day is frequented largely by the local office clientele. The restaurant is split into different levels and seating is below ground level so there is no view. The sushi/sashimi section will often be full, especially late in the week. Reservations are a good idea but the teppanyaki... more
Had an execllent evening and superbe food - love the place
We went with a party of 8 after pre-booking. We could only see 2 other tables in use but it took at least 15 minutes before we were asked for a drink order. The waiter has worked there since it opened, (6 yrs ago), and it may as well have been 60 ! He shuffles around from table to table... more
Good food and awesome performance on the BBQ section!
