We were in Calgary this past weekend, and was a last minute thing, to our surprise most of the hotels were booked. We drove around, called and was told they had a room at the Econo Lodge, the front desk guy i believe his name was Darrin was very helpful and polite, a joy to deal with on the phone... more
Reasonably priced, clean and quiet. Definitely not high end hotel but location is great and people friendly. Can't complain really, A/C wasn't the best but temperature was cool enough not to need much. Quick access to wedding we were going to. Super clean!
Our stay here from June 13th – June 25th was good. We did not experience any difficulties during our stay. I always found the staff at this hotel to be courteous and helpful, especially Darren and Joey at the front desk.
Our room (114) was always ready and clean when we returned from our various activities. Included in the room...

Decent rooms, comfortable beds, friendly staff, great location in South Calgary near Chinook Centre. We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and keep coming back because of the value. We highly recommend Econo Lodge South as good accommodation for the price conscious traveler.
We stayed there for two nights. Good location, close to the Chinook mall. Rooms are average for a hotel of this class. The hotel itself clean and the staff was friendly. Pool was a nice addition. The breakfast was terrible -absolute no choice -boiled eggs and DIY waffles for two days.
Stayed here on business for 1 night. The rooms a clean and quiet and the beds are comfortable. The TV had a poor signal (digital signal, but took a while for the pixelation to settle after changing channels). The breakfast was good (nothing too special). Service was okay (not very professional).
Stayed here for two nights November 2013 for business. I picked the location because it was right down the road from where I had to be for an early morning meeting the next day. I requested a smoking room so I already know to lower my expectations at this point. Check-in was easy, the staff I dealt with over the... more
This hotel/motel was quite clean with some great ammenities. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a nice pool and excercise room. A continential breakfast was offered every morning. In terms of location, very conveniently located to transit and access to downtown Calgary is quick. It's right on Macleod trail so there are lots of restaurants... more
Spent 3 weeks here last year and couldn't fault the place. It was immaculate, bed was fresh every day and the towels. Everything was clean and just a really great place to stay!
Staff were friendly and loads of great places locally to visit, including the Chinook shopping mall. Limericks was a fab pub within crawling distance! Loved it
breakfast was really good..

not so much space in the parking lot
I would have only rated the hotel itself 3 but the front desk staff was so nice I have no hesitation bumping up a star just because of them.
The hotel itself is a very ordinary motel type establishment. It is the kind of place we stay at if we are blowing through a town or city in North America...

I liked the experience there. I would like also to thank the receptionist Joey for his excellent performance. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my relatives and family and Will consider it in any future hotel staying for myself.
It was clean, and close to shopping. The staff was very friendly.

I would have like more fruit or breakfast things that doesn't have wheat in it.
Nice clean and comfy rooms , good location to Chinnook Centre.

Breakfast was less than what we have at some other restaurants, plus using paper is not good for enviroment, condidering they are concerned about enviroment.

And yet, as someone said below, it got worse. Me and my friend aren't usually the type to complain or make an issue to a hotel about specific issues that bug us, but this has to be said. We were here from August 6-8 2013 and all we ask for any hotel is an internet connection and a hot tub... more

I will agree with most reviewers that the cleanliness is not spectacular. I am sure the sheets are clean and they did an effort of cleaning.
When it came to detail to cleanliness it was obvious there was none.

The room was old and needed work - window frames mildew and rotting as was the base board in the bathroom. The air conditioning had to be fixed 3 times in the 3 nights we were there. I found the rooms to be very run done and not cleaned very well. They were on the small side as well.
We were there for the Stampede so was hard to find anywhere affordable. This was the cheapest we could find but it was suitable & the train is only a 10 min walk away which is brilliant & made everything else ok.

The room absolutely reeked off cigarette smoke despite being signed as a non-smoking room.
Even though we are non smokers we and our friends took the last two smoking rooms as that was all that was available. The carpet was heavily stained, walls, trim, lamps etc were all yellow smoke coated in need of a wash. Bed was very old and hammock like. NO air conditioning working. Window was screwed closed so couldn't even... more
Everything about the EL was fantastic. The bad smell of this rundown place welcomes you right from the door. Friendly staff and great location!
Laundry services on site is most welcomed. Near all major amenities! Chinook shopping centre just down the road. Excellent assortment of eateries just across the street. Ballpark with trail is only a couple minute walk south on Macleod. Great if your into running!
Stay of 9 nites end of February 2013. Payed in advanced at home. Correct stay, just essentials. Ok location. Minimum service. A week after return home, rebilled with 200$ extra with no comment what so ever. Recalled extra payment through VISA. Nothing yet. No explanation from Eco Lodge South Calgary.
This is an older hotel/motel but clean and pleasant. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms we stayed in were very comfortable, clean and bright. They have a continental breakfast, I enyoyed the waffles. The location is just a few minutes from the Chinook Mall and our favorite restaurant - Red Lobster.
Stayed at the Econo Lodge South Calgary with a friend for a concert at the Saddledome. April 24th & 25th I stayed at Econo Lodge South Calgary while on a business trip.
