Have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. The service, the food and the prices are all more than acceptable.
I enjoy East Side Mario's food. They have their own bread which is really good and I enjoy their pastas and ceasar salad.
Their servers are always very pleasant and if it's somebody's birthday or special event, they will make a big deal out of it.
Our Dept had a breakfast meeting this morning on Monday March 1st. The breakfast buffett was ok it had a narrow selection of hot foods including bacaon eggs sausage. There could have been a wider selection like they used to have with fish cakes etc. The cold selections were excellent with ample fruit and muffins, cereals. Overall everyone was pleased and it is a good place to come for breakfast if you are trying to feed a large crowd. The private room is also excellent to conduct a breakfast meeting.

Ate here again while staying at the hotel and I must say I was quite pleasantly surprised at how good the meal was and the service. For my meal as I was eating alone I decided to eat in the bar at one of the high tables. The bartender quickly acknowledged me and replied "how can I help you my love". You have to love the Newfoundland sayings. Everyone is addressed as "my love" or "my dear".

I went there with my family and they served my food cold, like it was sitting in the serving table!!!! And it was terrible!
I tried East Side Marios for the first time in Regina SK and loved it, this was probably 10 years ago and I was quite young. Although it doesn't seem quite as amazing now it is still a great place to go when you want consistency. They were also really good with gluten free and had a separate gluten free menu!
I would just like to say it is a nice good italian place... i loved there all you can eat soup/salad and garlic loaf... specially the garlic loaf
if you love Italian, you will enjoy this restaurant. The prices are good. Portions are a little small but decent. This is a family restaurant. If possible, make reservations for evening meal because it tends to be a waiting time to seat.
We went there valentines day weekend and it was so disappointing. The table we sat at was pretty much at the door, people waiting to be seated were standing next to us while we ate. I was pregnant at the time so ordered a non alcoholic drink that was nasty it was like a glass of sugar. The food was... more
I visited your restaurant this evening and I have to say your employees need to step up their game! There is nothing worse then seeing a group of staff hanging around the hostess stand, gossiping about personal drama loud enough that I'm sure the people staying on the top floor of the hotel could hear them! We decided to eat... more
We had a wonderful experience at East Side Marios. We were seated as soon as we arrived with our choice of booth or table. After placing our order it was no time before our bread and salad arrived, followed by the pizza. It was a great meal and our waiters came back to our table several times to see how... more
Hell's Kitchen is one of the items on the menu, but would be a better name for the establishment...I am reluctant to even call it a restaurant. It had always been so-so, but my last experience was very bad.
I can forgive the fact that the all you can eat soup and salad arrived with the appetizers, you just have...

The food was cold and the service slow. The bread/salad was good, but the main meal was not worth the price. I would not come back here again for a main meal. It was also dirty (the floor was slippery and the bathroom disgusting).
Four of us went here for dinner last week at my brother's recommendation. I wonder what on earth he was thinking. I ordered the veal. It was oversized, overcooked and smothered in some sort of tomato paste that had no flavor to it at all. To make matters worse, it was expensive.
The décor reminded me of Chuck E Cheese....

This is the slowest restaurant I have encountered. Dust forms on the staff. Had dinner and breakfast. At breakfast, there were practically no patrons when we were seated, yet it took about 25 min to get our meals. Prices are high for what you get. Unfortunately, it is the only restaurant at the hotel.
The food quality was good, but after a couple of days, a little variety would have been welcomed. :)
When a sandwich with fries cost me 25 bucks i am not happy. All i wanted was something small but that was the cheapest they had on the menu.
Went here for dinner because someone I knew was staying at the hotel for a function for a group. I used to eat at ESM all the time when I was younger and there are none in the states so going here whenever I'm back in Canada is a can't miss! They are a chain Italian restaurant but they're not authentic Italian obviously. Don't walk in here looking for homemade baked ziti, Caesar salad, and... more
Based on the tripadvisor ratings my expectations were low prior to our visit. We all had some sort of pasta with the included salad and all (4 of us) were pleased with the quantity, flavour and temperature. Service was friendly and timely. Overall a good experience.
We tend to eat at East Side Marios at least once during our stays at the Holiday Inn where the restaurant is located. We usually order the special that includes all you can eat salad or soup, and bread with a pasta dish. On our last visit the salad ingredients were wonderfully fresh and chilled, and the dressing was not... more
it was very good. A little over priced . but we all enjoyed it. the service was very good, the girl always keep her eyes on us. we were the only table in the place at the time. so it was fast too.
service was ok, given it was very busy, the food was not the usual East Side standard, off night? if I go back its just for the pizza, can;t mess that up.
One of the worst plates of breakfast I have ever had put in front of me. Everything but the eggs had been deep fried and the eggs were badly cooked. I had one bite of the sausage and one of the eggs and sent it back. They did not charge me but that does not help when it is the... more
I love Italian food and this restaurant was excellent. The service was excellent, very pleasant servers. Never had to wait a long time after my order was given.
The first major issue that I have is that while waiting for our appetizers a scruffy looking gentleman exited the kitchen dressed in cooks attire pushing a bellman’s cart loaded down with collapsed cardboard. He proceeded to push the cart through the service area, actually stopping to move empty chairs out of his way from a table that customers had... more
The pizza is my favorite. Very crowded near regular supper hour especially Thursday, Friday and Sat. Often have gone and left again!! If you can get in.....service is great...booth preferred so you are not in the middle of a crowd of people in the main part of the restaurant!!
I love this restaurant. The food is delicious , and the service is always excellent. Nothing more to say just a nice place to visit for a full belly.
Went and ate at this place with two work buddies. We each ordered different meals and everyone was happy with the portions and the meals itself. We felt they had a good selection of beer on tap. Enjoyed or time at the restaurant as the service was good, friendly but not too in your face. I'd definately go back again... more
This hotel mostly caters to business travelers, and unfortunately most have to experience this restaurant. ( I have stayed here a few times) Service is usually very slow, servers not usually friendly, and watched once as my server went behind the counter and made a salad using her hands, which she did not wash prior. Basically, this restaurant is below... more
I was so impressed with the service and quality of food at this restaurant I made a point of eating there twice during my week long stay. Never disappointed.
While the restaurant is laid-out like a cafeteria and service can take a while, the meals are filling and reasonably priced. Plenty of pizza and pasta, generous green salads and tasty soups are the usual fare. Not much different from other Italian restaurants.
Food is average and service is good. Do not expect true Italian food; it is more American style than Italian. Place is usually so noisy it is hard to enjoy your meal.
We had the buffet breakfast..what a joke!!!!!!, worst fish cakes I have ever eaten, obviously the chef has never been taught how to make real fish cakes, the sausage was too greasy, the bologna was over fried and greasy, scrambled eggs had no flavours and the so called baked beans were most likely from a can...absolutely terrible breakfast, over priced $36... more
From the outside it looks like you are going to walk into a big place, but when I walked in, I was cramped up in the "entrance" with several other waiting customers. The air conditioning was blasting, so the 40 minute wait for our table was freezing, not to mention I stood up crammed into the wall the entire wait...... more
It was OK for what it was. Pizza, bread and salad. Wait staff was friendly. Nothing particularly wrong, just nothing to make it stand out.
It was ok, my wife had the chicken parmigiana, where the chicken breast was so small and over cooked that it let the rest of the dish suffer. We mentioned to the waiter, and he forwarded the comment to the kitchen staff, who dismissed the comment and did nothing to correct it.
So be warned that the Chicken Parm will let you down.
I had the Veal Parmigiana which was very good.
We went on one...

not a great lover of pasta fast food,if you are this is for you.............. more
The food was just okay, nothing wrong but nothing great. The prices were a bit high for mediocre sandwich and salad. Server was young and disinterested and actually got the order wrong but it wasn't worth calling to her attention as time was at a premium. The dining room was near empty late afternoon.
At $3.49 for a three-cup carafe, be sure to bring your thirst and a few buddies. Other local shops within one-half mile provide similar for $1.43 to $2.39. Servers are friendly, but tend to become distracted. In order to pay for my coffee, I had to find my server amidst her buddies and pull her away from her French onion... more
This East Side location is right in the hotel which makes it so easy when I am in meeting there. The staff is helpful and they even have gluten free items if you ask!
We had a great meal, too much food sometimes, but it was really busy. We had to eat in the bar which was OK but I would have preferred the restaurant.
We went to ESM at the Holiday Inn on Friday night for some basic pub food - wings and a burger.
After 40 minutes our food was served - cold with a burnt burger and bun. I guess they figured that after that long a wait, we'd be hungry enough to eat anything. We sent it back and left disgusted....

Average chain restaurant. Nothing fancy and nothing disappointing.
I always find East Side Mario's to be a disappointment. The food is overpriced and only just average. This location had excellent service though and the wait staff were great.
We were staying at the Holiday Inn after being sent there due to a cancelled flight and were given meal vouchers to be used at East Side Marios. This is a fairly decent chain and we have eaten at other East Side Marios on quite a few occasions. They are known for their Italian cuisine for lunch and dinner and... more
Located in the Holiday Inn on Portugal Cove Rd.Chain style Italian restaurant. Lots of pasta and pizza on the menu. Food and service is good.
food was not hot, been there several times and it was always the same, cool pasta is not good
Good family restaurant, lots to choose from, good service, good location
Its a nice restaurant. Food is good and prices are as well.
This restaurant serves breakfast for the Holiday Inn it is attached to. When in St. John's on business over the last ten years we notice the service highly variable. It is not music to our ears to be told before we order that they are short staffed with only one waitress. It is not music to our ears to sit... more
The chain tries to emulate NY's Little Italy. It is a loud, happening place, with good variety on the menu, and a very good price. Nearly all entrees come with soup or salad and garlic bread.
The music is way to loud the service is the worst i've seen and to top it all off there was a bone in our sandwich. The waitress did not seem to care and said she could talk to the manager or we could just forget about it. She spoke to the manager and he took a lousy 30% off... more
I have eaten for many years ar numerous East Side Marios around the country and have always had a wonderful time with quality service and great food. This experience in St.John's on August 5 was without exception the worst dining disaster I've ever had to put up with. The service was atrocious with a bunch of children running the place - throwing cutlery on the table, slow, rude and absolutely... more
Totally inconsistent with great meals one day... and bad meals the next. The bread and salad is good.
I am not really fond of the meals, the fish and chips are ok, but I love the bread and ceasar salad, mmm! I also enjoy the faux new york atmosphere.
Like any other ESM. Chain Food. Nothing special but predictable.
The food has always been great, the service too. It is a little noisy and I think thats the atmosphere they are going for so if you are looking for quiet and romance this isnt the spot for you.
