Haven't had much experience with the full menu, but I go often for the all day breakfast. It's reasonably priced and delish!
I love getting breakfast here. Quite small town atmosphere, wonderful friendly waitstaff & delicious food. Only complaint is the Cheese steak sandwich has cheddar cheese instead of provolone. While that's not a technical error I wish it had of mentioned it on the menu.
If you are looking for down home cooking then the east side family restaurant is the place in New Glasgow, it has the feeling of what simpler times long ago. They have a good menu selection and have daily specials. The food is hot with large portion size and the prices are wonderful. The staff are friendly and have been... more
it was like coming home and getting mom to cook for you again. the fish and chips were awesome and I loved the coleslaw, so much so I bought a large to go for the next day never expecting it to be HUGE. Wished I had room for the cake with the boiled frosting. I thought the seating was tight... more
THe restaurant was full for good reason.Simple food done great, fast, friendly and a good bargain.First time in many years since my last visit and very impressed overall.
I think this caters to seniors that don't like spicy foods? We found the meat and the chicken very bland.Almost like hospital food. Service was pretty good it's a shame the food is dull. Very busy though with older regulars. Nothing exciting on the menu to make me want to return.
The restaurant recently relocated and it is now roomier. The food is plentiful and very good. Their breakfasts are amazing.
Food is alright, but very small portions, alot of seniors go there so they give out small portions, not much bang for your buck.
This place is all you need for breakfast - prices are good, it's not fancy, food was fresh and good, service was great and prices are very reasonable
For a family restaurant there was no room for the 5 of my family. No water was offered, no coffee refills were brought. The caesar salad was in a non user friendly hideous plastic bowl. The waitress was completely terrible, talked condescendingly when orders were placed, forgot some of our orders, most unfriendly, seemed like the waitress had just graduated... more
went to the east side family restaurant today. First of all it was a very small portion of food that wouldn't fill a mouse. And also had an ignorant waitress who had a saucy attitude.
The East Side Restaurant is a hidden surprise in NG. It's your run of the mill family restaurant which is short on decor but tall on good food, good portions and good prices. Having been there a couple of times, I admit that when I want simple fare I visit.
They have daily specials, your regular burgers and fries, sandwiches (both hot and cold), soups, and fish and chips (which I like). Really...

Owned by the same people as my beloved West Side Family Restaurant (may she RIP), the East Side is now my family's go-to place for fish and chips in New Glasgow and it's one of the foods I most look forward to when I'm visiting my parents.
The usual for myself and my father is a three piece fish and chips that he picks up and takes home. The meals come in styrofoam containers and with the fish...

We still miss the "West Side", but the menu lives on at this location. Great burgers and fish and chips. The milkshakes are good too. Chocolate cake with boiled icing hits the spot! Great family cafe.
This place is a hidden gem in New Glasgow to visitors and everyone should try it at least once if they are in the area.
Better known as just the "family restaurant," it has a diner like atmosphere, and is very cozy. Since it is small and compact, so it is not good for large groups (max 4 people, some tables only seat 2). My boyfriend and I took his Nan here in her wheelchair, and it was quite...

Great menu with lots of choice......chicken dinner, fish & chips, or a hot sandwich are just a few. Servers always greet you with a smile and know their menu well. Only place I know where the onion rings are made from scratch and a homemade chocolate cake with boiled frosting thats just like Grandmas. If it takes you out of... more
My wife and I stopped by the East Side today for the first time .It was busy and a bit on the small size .Our server was friendly, knew the menu and seemed to enjoy her job.The food arrived quickly and was everything we hoped for .Bottom line is we had a great meal for a great price with service you... more
hello, i have eaten here three times, i find the portions small, the seafood chowder, had carrots, i never thought carrots were from the salt water, but hey, it takes all kinds.
The breakfast ,i have had twice, sorry, but no much flavor. I can only rate this as average.
i have been to this place several times on trips out east and never miss an opportunity to go back. Fast service, nice people, and delicious food. Homemade coleslaw, freshly battered fish, great BLT! There are a ton of franchises nearby (McD's, KFC, Pizza Hut) but you can get these anywhere and you'll spend less at this place for better... more
Down home but sometimes a little greasy.
Pretty good breakfast, but the prices per omelet ingredient can get the cheque a little pricey..
