Toronto's Queen of Cake is committed to making your wedding cake selection simple and enjoyable, Dufflet's inspired pastry chefs are happy to create a custom cake just for you
Affectionately known as the 'Queen of Cake' Dufflet Rosenberg reigns as Toronto's pre-eminet purveryor of fine pastries, desserts and confections. After thirty sweet years, Dufflet's legendary Queen Street Cafe still is the destination for the city's most talked about wedding, birthday and celebration cakes. Each and every Dufflet product is lovingly ... more
I found out 4 days prior to the kids party (15 10 year old boys..eek!) that it was going to be hosted at my place due to an emergency. I had called a lot of bakeries, all requiring 1 week to make a birthday cake for 15 with a screened image put on. So I call Dufflet and the girl on the phone tells me that as long as I get the image in to her that same day that they would be able to facilitate. I was over the moon! So I call back later in the day to get the email address and Brooke answers the phone and told me that the girl that I spoke to that morning was wrong and that it takes much longer and that it CLEARLY SAYS THAT ON THE WEBSITE (which I had not visited) and she was rude on the phone, using a tone that made me feel as though something was my fault. This was such horrible customer service! I decided to make my own birthday cake for my son and his friends. I don't need a pretentious bakery to make my cake anyway.
Dufflet sells some pretty amazing pastries. I have tried their cakes and some of their tarts. I have been impressed each time.
Their flavour is quite balanced. Nothing is overpowering. For example, their chocolate tart is not so heavy on the cocoa / chocolate that you do not taste the creamyness. The tart shell is also easy to cut away using just a fork (no crumbly mess).
Lemon tarts are my favourite, but that is just me...
Their brownies are delicious as well.
Overall, this little (very small space) pastry store is a very nice place to pick up some dessert cake(s) for your dinner party.
Note that Dufflet cakes can also be purchased at leading supermarkets around Toronto as well.
Take refuge amongst the mint green walls and beautiful flower display in the window. Not that the sweet smells of confectionary sugar wouldn't induce hunger for tarts, cookies and delectable, artistic cakes. Should your sweet tooth be on vacation, savory lunch items are up for grabs. This bite size bakery is a perfect soujourn from Queen West boutique browsing with girlfriends or your mom,... more
Yummmmmmmmmmm.
Went for the first time today and it was 2-1 Wednesday. What a great deal, 2 slices for approx $5. That's amazing actually, in a city with a lot of expensive dessert options. My friend and I each had a slice- the Lemon Parfait and the Strawberry Mousse. Wow, so good. Not overly sweet, but light and delicious. I also had a cuppa.
The staff was friendly and quick, and there were...

Dufflet Pastries Inc has a very cute vintage website that progandas people to eat more cake. Dufflet Rosenberg began baking since 1975. Since opening the first pastry café on Queen Street West, Dufflet has had a couple locations throughout the Greater Toronto Region: Yonge Street, the Beaches neighborhood on Queen Street East, etc.
Besides giant size portions, we hardly find Dufflet to be the...

The carrot cake was amazing. The cake was moist and the icing was not too sweet, but just right. The slice they cut was pretty big for the price. Will come back again.
I technically still like Dufflet's but am so put off by the "better than you" attitude now. Used to come here with my Dad for carrot cake slices way back in the day (like 15+ years ago) and it was such a fun experience. Now, I feel like an annoyance simply by walking through their door. For my birthday last year, my fiancé asked for them to do a black spiderweb design on my cake (I'm a... more
I love Dufflet Pastries.
Their pie crust is delicious. Their lemon meringue tarts are lovely. The brownie-s'mores bar is delicious.
This little shop will take requests/orders if you submit them online or by the phone in advance. I suggest ordering 1 of everything for your next binge.
Inside, it is small and cozy. I have never stopped to eat my treat there, but instead have parked in front...

Very Yummy, the cake slices never disappoint!! I find the best time of the day is to go during lunch, much more selection!
Stop #3 on the Chocolate Tour by Great Food Tours.
Nice shop with beautiful looking cakes and squares. Small spot but could definitely stop here for a coffee and a treat.
The chocolate tour included THE BEST brownie that I have ever tasted!!
I first discovered Dufflet's about 17 years ago or so when I was a driver and I stopped in on a cafe in Roncesvalles to grab a drink when I saw these absolutely gorgeous key lime tarts. Anybody that knows me knows that I'm not a dessert person but there are certain desserts like cheesecake, or key lime pie that will make me make an exception to eating sweets.
Needless to say I returned to this...

Dufflets cakes are never disappointing.
Carrot, coconut and chocolate are all delicious!
Bonus points for them expanding to cater to the vegan market with both a vegan carrot cake and a vegan chocolate cake.
5 stars for consistently good product. A birthday is not a birthday without a dufflet cake!
Confession: I have a slight obsession with cupcakes! I know it's all the rage and the hype is getting slightly old. In my defence I consider it a science experiment- how else is one to find the best cupcakes in the city?! I will gladly try every butter cream and cream cheese frosting out there for my fellow Yelpers out there and hope that I stick to my running regime to combat my indulgences.... more
If one was looking for say, French style pastries then this place might not fit the bill. But most items here are tasty. Our default fave is their apple tart. Service always seems to border on the 'blah, rather be elsewhere' side. Toronto is not necessarily known for its great pastry shops. I am done. The end.
Little cake shop down on Queen St. West. Wow. They do make amazing cakes. I got some mini cakes and also got a big chocolate truffle something. ( I forgot the actual name). It was heaven! It was not too sweet and not too heavy. I couldn't stop eating it. If you all get a chance. Go and try it!
Decent pastries,, wasn't too big a fan of the chocolate cupcakes, but their smores were amazing. Also had a red velvet cupcake that was good, and a date in some sort of crumble that I didn't find all that great.
Blueberry cheese cake is amazing.
Cupcake is nice too.
Love this store.
Parking lot not sure, street parking available.
Dufflets is always good. The last real user of cream around. Wild cherry cream cheese cake and a Earl Grey is the way for me!
Love this cute little cake shop. Great selection of baked goods, dessert, and different sized cakes. My only complaint is that they can be very understaffed sometimes and the wait time can be long.
The cakes are amazing--not too sweet and they taste divine.
I bought some mini cakes and macaroons.
The classic New York cheese cake is great. The cheese cake texture is smooth and fluffy. The graham cracker layer was soft, crumbly, and not too dry. The chocolate mousse cake is great too. The mousse is rich, creamy, and not too sweet.
I loved the macaroons. They have an awesome deal of 3 macaroons for $1 for day old macaroons. Or $1.25 for fresh ones....

Visited the 2638 Yonge location Sat Sept 14 2013. Purchased 2 strawberry shortcake cupcakes, 2 pumpkin cupcakes and 2 pumpkin pie tarts for $18. The cupcakes were delish, the buttercream is rich but feels... more
While I have always loved Dufflet cakes and tarts, I should have never gone to the shop. The disinterested staff tried to stay as far from me as they could, one leaning against the counter behind the glass with her arms akimbo, clearly exasperated with my lack of ordering. FANTASTIC cheese cake !!! My favourite Blueberry Lemon!!!
I wen there with my husband by referral to try the dessert there. They have Awesome Butter cream strawberry cakes. They also do custom cakes including wedding cakes.
I like to find bakeries and cafes on my own. With the help of a few reviews, I finally made the trip downtown Toronto with a friend and ventured out to Queen Street West to find Dufflet. It took us approximately 10-15 minutes. We were very excited when we found this cute little bakery shop. When we went in, I... more
I happened on this pastry shop by chance with a colleague. The cakes which I tasted was Fantastic. I tried some other pastries and it was worth my visit. The cheesecakes are amazing + I'm not even a cheese cake fan! Both butter tarts and pecan tarts are sublime. I used to work as a baker during the summer as a part time gig at the main factory by ossingon back when I was in highschool/college so I know their ingredients used were always fresh. The overall standard of patisseries in Toronto is pretty dismal ---- with one shining exception. My family and I have been ordering our birthday and Christmas Cakes from Dufflet Pastries for more time than I can actually remember. The only thing I ever order in Dufflet's is cake and coffee. I like the chocolate raspberry truffle cake and have even requested this one for my birthday cake. We stopped into the children's bookstore next door to Dufflet and decided to grab a bite to eat. Funky eating are at the back with lots of sunshine! Good sandwiches, not a bad latte and a great dessert selection! Staff was also friendly and enthusiastic! A fun spot for a quick bite in the Beaches!
Not cheap, but consistently among the best cakes and pastries in the city. Get in early for best selection.
Dufflet is a Toronto institution--even if you've never gone into the store, you've probably had a Dufflet pastry at some point (a catered work lunch, a friend's baby shower, a pick-me-up as you leave Whole Foods).
The shop itself isn't huge, but there's charming art on the walls and it's easy to strike up a conversation with other people in the shop. I chose a day-old molten lava cake (day-old...

It was okay, but certainly did not wow me. Dufflet has gone mass market (can be found at Loblaw's supermarkets across Toronto), and somewhere along the way they have lost the wow factor that they used to have.
But the cakes and pastries are delicious.
Basic space, a little cold.
Better for take out.
Always friendly helpful service.
Coffee is a little basic.
Pastries are delicious.
Space is a little scarce and cold.
Free parking north of queen.
I've had worse, that's why two stars. Have you ever tried those super market cakes, you expect those to be bad. With Dufflets what use to be a unique tasty treat has for the most part gone main stream and has become nothing more than sugar sweet that looks better than it taste. Typically too sweet to enjoy. You would be better off putting your straw in a bowl of sugar and sucking. Sorry to... more
I went there today at 4:30pm- the staff was ready to jet out! Grill was turned off and they were as if just counting down the time... Pasteries- too buttery and believe me there are some REAL good places around... I hear their cakes are real good but anything apart from that is over rated... more
I got a tiramisu cake for my brother's birthday. It was delicious. I would highly recommend this place.
People will tell you they have favorite Dufflets--mine is the butter tart. Perfectly flaky and sweet, like I remember my mom making. And every cake I've had--even flavors I didn't think I'd like--has been delicious.
But worth the calories. My favourite (I'm not a huge chocolate fan) is the dacquoise. You're welcome.
I really don't get why people like this stuff so much...I've had their pastries several times, and I find them completely unexceptional...in fact, a total waste of A LOT of calories.
These are some of the most delectable desserts I have ever had. And I work in the food industry so that is a big statement. The quality is consistent, decadent and unbeatable. LOVE Dufflet's Pastries!
I think this is the best white chocolate cake in the city.
Affordable and moist and tasty and never a slice left at the table it is so good. Dufflet's has a ton more to choose from and you can always order ahead. Easy friendly service. Chocolate peacan pie is also incredible.
Dufflet's is a standard for special event cakes for us, or for when we're simply in need of a bit of a pick-me-up. Great, helpful staff too.
We always try to be along Queen Street West around the lunch hour so that we can pop into Dufflets to enjoy a sandwich and one (or two) of their great desserts. I usually have the grilled granny Smith sliced apple with melted sharp cheddar cheese one and a butter tart or other decadent pastry. Also their coffee is very... more

Taste: Great! Got the White and Dark chocolate Mousse minicake. It was soft and fluffy, not too sweet, and was delicate.

We came by to try their cake as we had a coupon. Their cake is absolutely delicious! One of the best I've had. The slices are HUGE. It's probably about twice the size as a normal slice elsewhere. Definitely worth it for $5. If you're in the area, definitely drop by.
The pastries are absolutely wonderful with matching customer service. Every time I come here I am always greeting kindly. Dufflet pastries are fantastic. Not always inexpensive but very, very good. You can purchase goodies by the slice or whole cakes. The raspberry/chocolate combo cake is absolutely fantastic...very light even though it looks very rich.
Dufflet make superb desserts: and they are not limited to pastries. they make absolutely the best carrot cake that have tasted in more than half a century. their skill is in juxtaposing flavours, textures and weight to create new taste experiences from familiar foods. Kudos to them!
If you can make a vegan cake taste good, you must be talented! This place has such a large selection for all kinds of palettes.
I believe that the cakes and pastries baked here are the best anywhere. I try to get a Dufflet cake for every special occasions.
I was disappointed at the tough pastry of the lemon tart. My cappuccino
however was the best ever. I will try a different dessert if I ever return again.
OMG! What is not to savour in this bakery. Everything is delicious! Their tarts are tasty too! The chocolate icing with vanilla cake, and vanilla cupcakes are scrump-dilly!!!!!! I would rip my box open everytime if it weren't so pretty ;)
Fifty words will not flow when you are simply the best. This store supplies all of the up scales restaurants in town and some specialty grocery stores. Don't leave town without a taste.
A nice place for tea, great selection of cakes and other baked goods. I've seen a fly in their display area on more than once occasion though. They girl there wasn't too concerned and just shooed the fly away. I watched her to make sure she didn't give me the piece that the fly landed on!
You can never go wrong with Dufflet Pastries! I haven't had anything that I didn't like.
Fresh made pasteries of almost every discription and a selection of well selected other interesting items and foods make Dufflet a repeat stop for us when we are in Toronto. After a lunch in Chinatown in Toronto, we drove to Dufflet's for dessert. They have an amazing selection of freshly made baked goods, and it was well worth the trip. If you are looking for a great treat, be sure to visit Dufflet's . . . it is well worth the calories!
Went to the location on Yonge Street to pick up a cake for a birthday. The cake was pre-ordered; staff were very friendly. Cake was absolutely up to their usual standard. The only place I know you can get a Pink Velvet Cake. Delicious.

I am a sucker for bakeries. Rarely can I go into a bakery and not buy anything and Dufflet Pastries is not an exception!
