The bed was horrible, bad wi-fi, and when I called about my internet connection, the front desk never called back. It is cheaper to park across the street at the other hotel and the air in the hotel room was damp and musky. I had an amazing experience during my stay in Toronto. The hotel was perfect. I strongly recommend it: well situated and quiet. Many restaurants all around. The hotel looked clean and well-maintained. But looks can be deceiving. The warm cookie was their way of welcoming you, but in my opinion, a hotel's worth and quality is from maintenance and regular inspection, not by empty gestures like a welcome cookie.

I stayed here for two nights for a conference last May. My room was very comfortable and well-equipped, and the view was nice. The hotel stay for the price was marginal at best. The "water saver' shower was horrible. I would not recommend staying at this Double Tree. We have stayed at other Double Tree hotels with great satisfaction, not the one in Toronto.

Hotel is very nice. The beds are very comfortable. Close to everything (restaurants, shopping, CN tower, aquarium) at walk distance. Parking is a little bit expensive (not included in the room price).

This place is a JOKE. When I checked out, they charged me $8.66 for local calls, even though I never TOUCHED the phones in that room. The manager refused to remove the charge, even though I explained to him the situation. He'd much rather sacrifice my future business for $8.66? That guy should be fired. HORRIBLE service. We loved this hotel! Only minutes away from all of our favourite shopping places (Dundas Square, Eaton Centre and Queen West) and close to a lot of great restaurants! Good Centrally Located Hotel

The hotel is very well situated; close to shopping (Eaton Centre); the Subway System, City Hall, and many other city core attractions (Theatre, Roy Thomson Hall, ACC (Leafs, Raptors) and Rogers Centre (Blue Jays). Got a great deal on Expedia and had a very enjoyable stay.

Also taxis waiting outside at all times Rooms were pretty standard but everything was well kept and clean around the edges. Good shower pressure (and Crabtree & Evelyn bath products!). Beds were very comfortable. Gym facilities were ok but had all the important stuff (machines, weights, etc.).

Good downtown location, walking distance from Eaton center and waterfront, close to Rogers Centre, restaurants. Just don't expect to drive around, Toronto is worst than NYC to drive in as there's no real subway system.

We went as an older couple for a vacation. The hotel was located in the center of Toronto, near the subway and other transportation. We never took our car out of the garage the whole 3 days.

We were so excited to stay here on our recent trip to toronto. They held a fire alarm testing at 8am and it lasted 3 hours! And they charged us two times on our card for parking. Management hid in the back when asked if we would be refunded for the annoying alarm they said it wasn't their problem. So upsetting but never again will we be staying there.

Hotel was great the first night, staff was pleasant, check in went smooth. The morning of the 27th while we were still sleeping the cleaning lady actually came into the room and woke us up. She apologized and asked a better time to come. It was a bit uncomfortable though.

I had a great stay at the Doubletree by Hilton in Downtown Toronto. The room was clean and very comfortable offering a great view of the CN tower. All the staff were extremely helpful and the hot cookies were a very nice added bonus. It was a great location as many things were only a short walk away. I would definitely stay there again.

Very comfortable

Although the hotel is non-smoking, the first room they gave us had a strong tobacco smell. We immediately called the front desk and they sent someone right away and guided us to a different room which was spotless. We really enjoyed the bed - it was so far the most comfortable experience. Perfect for our weekend stay. Convenient location and very comfortable accommodations.

Under Construction

The hotel was undergoing renovation during my stay, and workers were able to perform work from 8am-6pm, so if you are planning on being in your room at all during the day, this may not be the one for you. Also, my final day, the water broke for at least some rooms in the hotel (mine was included in this) and I was unable to shower before I left. Be very careful with this one!

The suite I was in was not cleaned properly there was a empty Starbucks cup lying in the corner. After the room was cleaned on the second day the sofa bed was not opened back for the third person. The porter service was good. There was no parking available during my stay and the hotel did not inform me durIng check in cause some inconvenience during my stay.

Convenient location, but no parking

The hotel itself was fine, good location, easy to get around to things downtown and within easy walking distance of AGO, Chinatown, Kinsington Market. However, they did not have parking available (they claim to be remodeling their parking garage), so we were forced to park in a parking garage down the block that charged $24 a night.

Stayed there for one night. The hotel rooms are very small and outdated, but the staff is friendly enough. I guess it's good for a place to sleep for the night on a business trip but I wouldn't advise for a vacation..

Amazing Staff but Hotel in Transition

Staff were welcoming. But the hotel is under renovation because it just got sold. The furniture was warn, carpet stained, dusty air duct and air grate dirty. It took over 2 hours to checking because I had to wait for air filter to be changed. I had the staff unscrewed grate so I could wash it.

If you are going to list a fitness center as one of the amenities, it ought to be in service. And, speaking of service, you should really have more than one working elevator

In need of major renovation

Very disappointing on the condition of the hotel. It's in need of a major renovation. Definitely not a nearly four star hotel, as advertised.

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Under construction now 4/2013 so we were awoken by drilling and hammering at 8am. Everything about this hotel is very nice. It was with in walking distance of everything. The only problem I had with the hotel is that I paid $42 to park my car for less than 24 hours. We really enjoyed our stay, from reception to the valet parking attendants to the housekeeping staff, they were all approachable and seemed to enjoy their jobs. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, it was a bit pricey but the dinner options were excellent and good value. Thanks we hope to come back again later this month.

Definitely yes , rather already have. Very good service and staff were brilliant. Very good value for money. We left our baggage for 2days and picked them up after trip to niagara falls. Absolutely no problems. I would recommend to everyone.

The hotel looks like they tried to renovate and renew the look, but the room itself has worn carpets, the AC unit was not working in one of our rooms, the rooms did not have refridgerators, and the fitness facility/gym was lacking. The area the hotel is in looks like Times Square, but definitely a hike to walk to the CN tower, St. Lawrence Market, etc. It is closer to the university and Chinatown.

Great value for money

Excellent value for money, staff very friendly and helpful, no problem when we asked for a kettle instead of coffee maker. Room a little dated but all very clean and a comfy bed.

From viewing the pictures of the rooms and amenities on line I was surprised at what the room actually looked like. Not a bad hotel but unless you upgrade to the suite your gonna feel like your in a 1950s era hotel

This hotel is average, and the rooms need updating. I stayed here one night on business in a King Suite. The lobby is very well-renovated, but unfortunately the rooms are not. The lighting is very dim, the bathrooms are old, and the rooms are on the small side. Great Location

Great hotel with great location to shops, restaurants, and transportation.

Decent, and better value that the Hiltons/Sheratons etc.

Slow check in was the only downside - good hotel for business travelers.

Nice hotel located by City Hall and offering travelers a good buy in downtown Toronto. Rooms are comfortable, yet small and bathrooms need modernization. Hotel staff are good and the hotel is extremely helpful if you're going to be based around the financial district. I prefer the Hilton on Adelaide Street over this hotel any day.

Always enjoy our stay here at the Metropolitan in Toronto. Courteous & efficient staff, clean rooms and easy access to theatre district and Dundas Square.

Parking - the SCARRIEST I have EVER had

Rooms - Bed is great, bathroom is great, semi-updated, not that big, floors/decor are meh

Location - Fabulous! Eaton Center is like a 5 minute walk, and there are grocery stores, liquor stores, and every other store close

Staff - They have all been really nice from what I have seen

Weekend Getaway for Adults

Had a lot of fun, hotel was good, great location to Massey Hall, Eaton Center, and City Hall (all walking distance). Would stay again for a night if going to a concert. Price was good for a Hotel in the center of everything.

OMG. That's what I get for using Hotwire. Issues? Oh yeah, plenty:

Carpet stains.
Old, worn-out, country-style furniture.
Hotwire rate was not that much cheaper than their regular rate.
Room and bathroom was small.

Only redeeming quality is that internet access was free and fairly easy to connect to, although the signal was always weak.

I did not have the seriously bad experience of reviewer Laurie, but the $9.00 a day 'facility fee' that they only tell you about on the way out really ticked me off. They try to justify this as having 'no hidden fees - everything is itemized' but geez, if I can't opt out of the water bottle, wifi, and exercise room, just include it in the room rate. Checked in on saturday afternoon. Found it easily enough. Parking was a little scary, as is all underground parking downtown.

My wife and I are here because we are attending a party at dundas square and neither of us wants to be the designated driver.

The key here is the comfortable beds. Everything else sucks. People are unfriendly, rooms are claustrophobicly small, food is not great, the sinks / tub do not drain, and the rooms are not well cleaned. I will likely never come back again. However, the beds are pretty good.

The rate was fantastic, we definitely got a bargain.
