My stay in the Day's Inn Hotel in Downtown Ottawa

On the day I first arrived in Ottawa I checked into this hotel. At first my room looked good and I liked the view outside my window. The staff put on a good show under terrible circumstances… The hotel is just too run-down and dated to be properly cleaned and serviced. This was a last minute booking, of last resort. However, it is close to the downtown core and if you need access to your vehicle or want to be able to keep a close eye on things the inner court yard rooms are drive up, motel style. Close to where we wanted to be.

Elevator was broken but we only had to go up one flight of stairs. The coffee pot wasn't washed even though the coffee was obviously used. But we didn't have to ask for a third towel for our third person like we have had to do at other hotels. Beds comfortable and room good size. We were very comfortable in the room.

I needed a hotel Ottawa and this one fit the bill. I enjoyed the fact it was conveniently located in walking distance to the Rideau Centre and the Byward Market.

The hotel was OK. Somewhat old and run down. Restaurant in hotel wasn't very good. We had breakfast there, quite expensive for what we got. Very hard to get into parking as it was really busy on the street. Beds were very comfortable. Air conditioning was quite loud. I won't go back there again even though it was close to a lot of attractions.

It could be more comprehensive in its offers.

While the hotel is quite close to ByMarket, UofOttawa, and Parliament Hill, it's exercise room was sad looking, the carpets are super old and gross, the comforter isn't in a duvet, and they don't serve a continental breakfast. Hotel is in main area close to most things

The hotel is in the downtown core close to most things...parliament, Uof O, etc...but also in a somewhat run down area. Lots of street people hanging around.

Older Hotel

Old hotel that the elevator did not work for 2 days. Rooms were not cleaned on a daily basis. Had to ask for towels and room to be cleaned. Did not have assistance with luggage when checking out, and should have due to elevator being broken.

Our toilet broke seconds after getting into the room and we had to go downstairs and get a plunger and a mop and clean and fix the toilet because house keeping wasn't working. The room smelled terrible and was not clean at all! Never coming back

For the price charged, certainly most poorly maintained hotel (or should I say motel) I have stayed in. 10 minutes away from it all

We had a great time, the only complaint is the noise level from the street as the cars drive by. I would suggest that if you stay here ask for a room in the back this way the traffice will not bother you as you try to sleep :)

Always comfortable

We have stayed here a number of times now and always find the service to be friendly and the rooms clean. The hotel is a little old but it is centrally located near pretty much everything you need. It also has plenty of parking for only $5 a night which a lot of the downtown hotels don't have.

Only reason for stay is they offered smoking

Ok Hotel - Close to everything downtown Bars!

The front desk staff we upon arrival was lovely and there was one overnight that was nice and helpful as well, the one as we left was not so nice- otherwise I'd give hotel staff 5 stars. The hotel kind of looks like the shining in the hallway, but the rooms are nice, big bathrooms.

A hotel that is conveniently located in Ottawa

This hotel is close to the Parliament, the market, the canal, etc. It is definitely an old buildling. However, it met all my needs, and I was quite comfortable during the stay.

Reception on arrival was excellent and very accommodating (Charity and Dmitry). The Expedia description of the facility failed to note that the pet friendly rooms are smoking rooms but well situated on the first floor. Disappointed

The staff was not pleasant nor were they knowledgeable about the check in process. The room I stayed in was not very nice, wallpaper peeling and general disrepair. Upon checkout a taxi cab was called for but it never did arrive after 40mins making us very late for our meeting which is why we were there in the first place. Good proximity to downtown core

The hotel is in an excellent area but the beds were rock hard and I'm disabled and the bar to get up from the toilet is behind the toilet which makes it kind if useless. It was clean and very large. Staff was friendly and helpful.

If you could avoid staying here I would recommend that. The tiles in the shower dirty. The location and friendly reception is about the only thing this place has going for it.

Staff were very helpful. Booked over the phone and lady couldn't have been more obliging. Room was good and clean, comfortable beds. Very handy to downtown, located walking distance to the Government buildings and the city. Parking was CAD11.30 including tax per night. Breakfast included.

We booked this hotel based on tripadviser reviews. The hotel was not even close. The room was not clean. Carpets torn. Bed cover torn. Mould on the ceiling tiles. Kind and Generous Service

I recently enjoyed a pleasant stay here on one of the coldest winter nights. The next morning I discovered that my car battery was dead. Both the reception staff and the Airport Shuttle driver came immediately to my assistance. I was very appreciative of this assistance as I had an appointment that morning that I had driven up to attend.

Great location, relatively inexpensive. This is a hotel that I stayed at purely for the convenience of waking up near the Parliament buildings.

We stayed here for a week. The queen bed room was non-smoking, very spacious & clean. The free wi-fi is a great plus when you cannot roam outside during snow. Most of the attractions (parliament building, Rideau centre, Byward market etc) are walkable distance from hotel.

This hotel was dirty, dingy, dark and disgusting. My husband booked it thinking it would be a good location and that would outweigh the fact that it doesn't look to be that great online. We walked into the room, saw the stained carpets and lumpy bed and turned around. Don't waste your time here.

There are no particular negative comments on this hotel. It is not a 4 or 5 star, and that's completely OK. The rooms are spacious, clean, and staff are friendly.

Roomy. Location was good for what we wanted to see. Area is under transition. Was handy to amenities and public transportation.
We were very disappointed in the housekeeping provided. The beds weren't properly made each day. Also no dusting. Basically, bathroom cleaned and towels provided. Coffee supplies inconsistent. No stopper for the sink.

I had to stay in the hotel for close to 10 days. I would say I was happy. Initially I got a room which was kindof small, but the moment I informed to the front desk and requested for a change, they were happy to do it and got a real good room with no questions asked.

We have stayed at this hotel often. But this last trip was awful. Duvet not staying in the cover properly, electrical for tv bad.
No exhaust fan in bathroom but the exhaust grill had a fur coat on it.
When the person came to tidy the room and refresh the towels, they didn't even make the bed.

Stayed here with my Family while on vataion. We took a room with 2 Queen beds. The room was well equipped with a fridge, TV( which we didn't use), kettle, sachets for making tea or coffee. We had a great stay at the Days Inn - Ottawa. Located near Byward Market, they have well traveled Front Desk staff, room was was very clean and quiet and they had wonderfully comfortable beds. Only negative, the lighting was a bit dim.
