I like this place because of its location as it is central to almost every place I need to visit when I am in Ottawa. The place is clean and the services when requested are provided quickly and efficiently.
On the day I first arrived in Ottawa I checked into this hotel. At first my room looked good and I liked the view outside my window. I realised the toilet was not flushing so I went to the desk and asked them to get a maintenance man to look into it. While I was out he fixed the problem of the toilet not flushing, but another problem arose. There seemed to be a leak in the toilet and water was... more
The staff put on a good show under terrible circumstances… The hotel is just too run-down and dated to be properly cleaned and serviced. This was a last minute booking, of last resort. However, it is close to the downtown core and if you need access to your vehicle or want to be able to keep a close eye on things the inner court yard rooms are drive up, motel style. This was handy for loading... more
Elevator was broken but we only had to go up one flight of stairs. The coffee pot wasn't washed even though the coffee was obviously used. But we didn't have to ask for a third towel for our third person like we have had to do at other hotels. Beds comfortable and room good size. We were very comfortable in the room.
Dirty hallways, dirty bathroom, empty beer can in room, ice machine broken, lights not working in the room
I needed a hotel Ottawa and this one fit the bill. I enjoyed the fact it was conveniently located in walking distance to the Rideau Centre and the Byward Market.
The hotel was OK. Somewhat old and run down. Restaurant in hotel wasn't very good. We had breakfast there, quite expensive for what we got. Very hard to get into parking as it was really busy on the street. Beds were very comfortable. Air conditioning was quite loud. I won't go back there again even though it was close to a lot of attractions.
While the hotel is quite close to ByMarket, UofOttawa, and Parliament Hill, it's exercise room was sad looking, the carpets are super old and gross, the comforter isn't in a duvet, and they don't serve a continental breakfast. The attached restaurant is almost completely empty and tries to serve everything from sushi to hamburgers, korean to chinese - and hasn't gotten one of those things... more
The hotel is in the downtown core close to most things...parliament, Uof O, etc...but also in a somewhat run down area. Lots of street people hanging around.
Close enough to walk to Parliment Hill and area. Hotel was ok but just tired. Staff was fine.
that's the third time I've been staying at this hotel and I'm always satisfied. The people at the front desk are always pleasant. My room have always been clean. I def reccomend this hotel.
Old hotel that the elevator did not work for 2 days. Rooms were not cleaned on a daily basis. Had to ask for towels and room to be cleaned. Did not have assistance with luggage when checking out, and should have due to elevator being broken.
Good service clean but very run down. Enjoy the parliament building , parks and shopping.
My only negative thought is that the room was kind of dimly lit. With all the light on it was not very bright inside the room.
Not in the best part of town. Very tired hotel... more
For the price charged, certainly most poorly maintained hotel (or should I say motel) I have stayed in. Bathroom door would not lock, the shower holder would not stay in position but slide down on its own. We booked a room for 4 adults but found only 3 bathing towels and 1 face towel. When I called reception for addition ones, was told to come down to reception to collect them myself as he is... more
Dirty, rundown room and unfriendly staff oooooooooooooo Ooooooooooooooooo Oooooooooo Ooooooooo
We had a great time, the only complaint is the noise level from the street as the cars drive by. I would suggest that if you stay here ask for a room in the back this way the traffice will not bother you as you try to sleep :)
pleasant stay with this hotel which is very close to UofOttawa, where my son will spend his 4yrs away from us.
It's not what it shows on the internet Disgusted by the dirty linens and worst customer service
Internet ging nicht. Zimmer riesig. Sauber. Personal freundlich.
We have stayed here a number of times now and always find the service to be friendly and the rooms clean. The hotel is a little old but it is centrally located near pretty much everything you need. It also has plenty of parking for only $5 a night which a lot of the downtown hotels don't have.
Will look for a different hotel next time
Nice staff, hotel out of date. Parking is limited being so close to the downtown area
it was ok but there was some guess that were someking in the alway of the room..
Parked the car for three days and walked everywhere. Only $5 per day to park.
The location is excellent and offers services more than wonderful
The hotel has a good location close to the things that I wanted to know as a tourist. Unfortunately the staff are not friendly
Super price for the location. Very basic hotel. Air conditioner did not go very high so room was very hot.
Tiny Room and Beer Smell Room was vert tiny, couldn't close bathroom door without moving table & chair. The stairwell smelled like stale beer, cheers???
The front desk staff we upon arrival was lovely and there was one overnight that was nice and helpful as well, the one as we left was not so nice- otherwise I'd give hotel staff 5 stars. The hotel kind of looks like the shining in the hallway, but the rooms are nice, big bathrooms.
This hotel is close to the Parliament, the market, the canal, etc. It is definitely an old buildling. However, it met all my needs, and I was quite comfortable during the stay.
opened my room door and the smell of urine was overpowering! went to the window - glued shut, tried the a/c - broken! went back to front desk to complain and the girl did change my room - from a 2 queen bed to a 1 king bed. np all is good. next morning awoke to a knock at my door stating he was there to fix the internet (i didn't have an issue with the internet NOR did front desk contact me... more
Reception on arrival was excellent and very accommodating (Charity and Dmitry). The Expedia description of the facility failed to note that the pet friendly rooms are smoking rooms but well situated on the first floor. Being allergic to smoke, the staff was able to accommodate our needs for us and our mini-schnauzer. Would return to this hotel again but be certain when using Expedia that you... more
The staff was not pleasant nor were they knowledgeable about the check in process. The room I stayed in was not very nice, wallpaper peeling and general disrepair. Upon checkout a taxi cab was called for but it never did arrive after 40mins making us very late for our meeting which is why we were there in the first place. For a few dollars more I could have and did stay in a much nicer hotel... more
The hotel is in an excellent area but the beds were rock hard and I'm disabled and the bar to get up from the toilet is behind the toilet which makes it kind if useless. It was clean and very large. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Really ordinary C@!%!y towels Noisy staff Bad restaurant
room was so small it seemed like a converted storage room. a/c was so loud could'nt sleep with it on. hotel was drab & dumpy. fire alarm went off at 3:30am thursday night. no compensation was offered disturbance. will never stay in this dump again.
The receptionist is not as accommodating as what you expected of a hotel staff. She talked in a condescending, sarcastic tone when I asked something about the stay. For something as small as this hotel is and amidst other better hotels around and within the area, what could they offer more may not be the amenities but probably good services. I would not remember how clean their room was or how... more
If you could avoid staying here I would recommend that. The tiles in the shower dirty. The location and friendly reception is about the only thing this place has going for it.
Staff were very helpful. Booked over the phone and lady couldn't have been more obliging. Room was good and clean, comfortable beds. Very handy to downtown, located walking distance to the Government buildings and the city. Parking was CAD11.30 including tax per night. Breakfast included.
We booked this hotel based on tripadviser reviews. The hotel was not even close. The room was not clean. Carpets torn. Bed cover torn. Mould on the ceiling tiles. Maid changed the shower curtain as it was hanging from duct tape. Worst was what appeared to be feces on the hair dryer. Maid cleaned it up. Pictures taken.

We have to confess that we were thinking that we would have a normal motel room when we saw the pictures on Booking, but what a suprise when we got it. I give the Days Inn a POOR RATING because it is so out dated and the coffee was so weak it was like drinking water!!!! If you call that coffee you better try some your self!!! Close to downtown. Parking good. Easy walk to downtown, but have to negociate city bus stop at shopping center. Room and bathroom clean. Hallway a little ragged on the edges. Reception polite and helpful.
We have stayed here a number of times over the years and it is always a pleasure. Nothing fancy but clean friendly and accomodating. Fits the bill.
Good location in Ottawa downtown and value for weekend.
Carpets should be changed. More light suitable (lamps).
Bad Experience
Internet Sucks! - not network in the rooms - worst network!

I recently enjoyed a pleasant stay here on one of the coldest winter nights. The next morning I discovered that my car battery was dead. Both the reception staff and the Airport Shuttle driver came immediately to my assistance. I was very appreciative of this assistance as I had an appointment that morning that I had driven up to attend.
Great location, relatively inexpensive. This is a hotel that I stayed at purely for the convenience of waking up near the Parliament buildings.
The room was clean, the bed was surprisingly comfortable and the front desk was friendly.
Stayed here numerous times, the latest jan 17 2014.You can depend on this hotel for a great location, and ample free parking, but the rooms are dated, stinky (smoky)and basic. The last few times we've run out of hot water in the morning. The reception explanation was that "the boiler went down", and "we didn't do it on purpose". Will likely come back,... more
Worst hotel I've ever been to. I had to stay in a smoking room bc I had my small dog with me. Not only did it stink (obviously), but there were cigarette ashes on the floor. Hotel location was very good. Check in stuff was friendly and welcoming. After check in, I found room was given as non smoking had strong smoking odor with leftover cigerate butt. We stayed here for a week. The queen bed room was non-smoking, very spacious & clean. The free wi-fi is a great plus when you cannot roam outside during snow. Most of the attractions (parliament building, Rideau centre, Byward market etc) are walkable distance from hotel.

I'm actually in the room as I type this. The Internet is incredibly slow, there's a strong smell of cigarette smoke in my non-smoking room. I can't understand why in this day in age smoking is still allowed in a hotel, I'm going to wake up with a smokers cough!!
I've been coming here along time, very many visits and...

This hotel was dirty, dingy, dark and disgusting. My husband booked it thinking it would be a good location and that would outweigh the fact that it doesn't look to be that great online. We walked into the room, saw the stained carpets and lumpy bed and turned around. Don't waste your time here.
For the price this is hotel is very good. It is a basic, budget hotel with a fridge near grocery stores and all of the popular Ottawa attractions. The staff are helpful and polite. The Rideau Street area is noisy and busy, so your sleep may be disrupted at night, but the hotel management can't really do much about that.... more
I stayed here to write my MCAT in early September and it was perfectly located to all my necessities. I stayed all last week at the downtown Ottawa, ONT location and wanted to compliment the front desk staff for being extremely curteous and helpful. Especially a young man Ivan or Igor truly went out of his way to help out.

I recommend the hotel because of the location and the price but honestly, it needs freshup(is the word adequate in English?) but the price would not be the same, I suppose.
There are no particular negative comments on this hotel. It is not a 4 or 5 star, and that's completely OK. The rooms are spacious, clean, and staff are friendly.
The room was a good value, and could not be better located.
I recommend to anyone.
Stayed at this hotel last month for only a few hours as we discovered bed bugs in our bed shortly after going to bed on the first night. Roomy. Location was good for what we wanted to see. Area is under transition. Was handy to amenities and public transportation.
We were very disappointed in the housekeeping provided. The beds weren't properly made each day. Also no dusting. Basically, bathroom cleaned and towels provided. Coffee supplies inconsistent. No stopper for the sink.
We stayed one night in this hotel. We knew going in that it was not the best hotel in the area, but all others were sold out due the Army Run Half Marathon.
The only bonus - LOCATION. It is in a decent location to get to the mall and the market.
If found the room to smell of urine...that...

I had to stay in the hotel for close to 10 days. I would say I was happy. Initially I got a room which was kindof small, but the moment I informed to the front desk and requested for a change, they were happy to do it and got a real good room with no questions asked.
I was unhappy to be moved to a smaller room as my RESERVED room was not ready for occupation at 6:30 in the evening!!!!!
Old, dirty, stains on the carpets, bad smelling, noisy rooms. The alarm sounded twice at middle of the night and the staff was so un friendly to tell us why. Not staying here again. Average no-star, inside corridor, motel / hotel. Not the chic-est but decently livable for couple nights. Good thing about the accommodation is that, nothing is great but everything works, including the fridge and the coffee maker.

This was my first and last stay at Days Inn. The staff were okay, but the hotel is in need of an overhaul. Very shabby, with warm to hot and stuffy corridors.
