The Dominion is one of the oldest hotels in Victoria. The old restored building ha a lot of character and personality. It is not located directly on the Inner Harbour, but it's a five minutes walk. It is still in the heart of downtown Victoria, walking distance for most attractions. It's close to Fort street - the antique shops street.

Unique Quality: Location and atmosphere

The Dalton is in need of a spruce-up but despite our initial concerns with off-site parking and ageing lobby and hallways, our room was clean, comfortable, quiet and the bed allowed a great night's sleep. Terrible, terrible hotel! It is the worst place I have ever stayed in. The rooms are old, smelly and dirty. It was so gorse that we worn our flip flops when we walked around in the room. It is the sort of place were you would see prostitutes working from. It needs to be torn down and replaced.

Nice Historic Hotel in Downtown Victoria, B.C.

This hotel was the only one in our price range that still had rooms available. It was surprisingly nice. We showed up around 6:00 pm because we walked around the city that afternoon, and the front desk clerk upgraded us to a boutique room since it was so late. The room was very comfortable, and we loved how it was decorated. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Victoria.

Staff is great. Very pleasant and accommodating. Room was small, and old, with no air conditioner and open window with blinds out to a brick wall and other rooms. The location of this hotel for where we were going was great. The hotel itself is run down and the rooms look nothing like the picture. Our room was disgusting! Carpets were so dirty that I wouldn't remove my shoes. I am 5'7 and the shower head was was low that I had to do a half squat to get under the water. Overall it's an OK hotel. Pretty much everything is mediocre. Location is good with lots restaurants and shops near by since we don't have a car. The hotel room is old and a little bit dark, but it's clean and well-maintained. Free breakfast (no eggs or meat) saves you a couple bucks. If you're travel on a budget but don't wanna live in hostels, this will be a good choice.
