Great rates & a comfortable place to stay. Close to everything you want to see & do
We came to see old Halifax, but saved a lot by staying in Dartmouth. It only took a few minutes to get to down town Halifax by car plus a $1 toll for the bridge each way. As for the hotel itself, yes it is an older building, but it was reasonably maintained, by a staff who seemed to take pride in their work. The breakfast was great really, for the price. The air conditioner was older but really... more
Disappointed in the breakfast. Since I was pressed for time I would have appreciated a piece of fruit to take along on my long drives. I would have appreciated a soft drink/water dispenser.
Room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Location suited our needs, as it was closer to the airport. Would definitely recommend .
If you're looking for a budget hotel room with a bedroom the actually separates from the sitting room with a door so you can put the kids to bed without having to go to sleep at the same time as them, this is a good option. There's a minimally stocked kitchenette with ample refrigerator space. Also, lots of closet space. It feels more like walking into a small apartment then a hotel room.
decent price... furnishings were outdated but the bed was extremely comfortable, and wifi is akways a plus; breakfast choices just OK. Very good customer service. Street it is on is a bit run down.
We stayed one night. the room was comfortable and clean. the kitchenette was a good set up wish I had known about it. The breakfast was good. All and all a good stay.
We stayed two nights. Staff was great. Location was convenient for our needs -- meeting with local friends and visiting Halifax Archives for genealogy research. Best value we found for accommodations in this area, especially if you make use of kitchenette. Wi-Fi was not reliable, despite several re-sets by staff. AC/Heat unit only in living room area, not in bedroom, but bedroom had ceiling fan... more
The room was nice and clean, and the staff was helpful and attentive!
Older motel but clean and comfortable. Great place to overnight on your trip in Nova Scotia. Friendly staff.
the room was a good size and small kitcken to rooom
This facility shows its age....badly. complete hotel reeks of stale tobacco smoke. Continental breakfast was tinned fruit.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and curtious. We have reserved the motel for on our return trip before we fly back to Manitoba.
The night shift lady was super. So helpful stopped what she was doing and immediately paid attention to us...the hotel is confusing to get to. Not conveniently located. We had to order in
Run down. Pipeline crews would stay here. Breakfast was bare minimum.
Enjoyed the place, no problems, would recommend to friends.
Very nice hotel! Older building but the room we stayed in was very clean. It has AC and WiFi which was great. Would definitely recommend to anybody who wants to stay within a close drive to Halifax.
Selected this hotel due to its close proximity to both Halifax and Dartmouth.
Centrally located, for day trips around the area.. Welcoming, helpful staff both on reception and housekeeping. Breakfast is included, break room is bright, clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay here again.
You get what u pay for, it was ok for one night I would not recommend staying longer.
Staff was not friendly. Room was average. Breakfast Buffett was a joke.
we booked two queen sized rooms, but when we arrived, the hotel upgraded our rooms to king beds with studios. We were more than pleased with the accommodations. Rooms were clean and staff were very helpful and accommodating. One of the fridges wasn't working in the room, and within minutes, another fridge was delivered to replace the broken one. Breakfast was also a pleasant surprise. The staff... more
The management were very friendly and helpful. They printed me out directions from the hotel to the Dr. I had to see. The breakfast was more than I expected for the price of the room. I would gladly recomend this hotel to friends or family.
For a 2 star hotel it was not too bad. The best was the location with respect to Halifax downtown but otherwise for one night stay without all the extras it's very basic. Not an easy place to find for some visiting Halifax for the first time. I probebly would not stay there again. The breakfast could have been lot better even for continental.
Very nice room. Quiet, conveniently located. Good breakfast and exercise area.
We were literally shocked when we walked into the suite. It was far more than I expected for the $82.00 I spent. It was a very nice mini-apartment. The bedroom had it's own T.V and lots of closet space. The main area was an open concept kitchen living room. The decor was a bit dated, but the room was super clean! The staff were friendly and helpful. I will stay at this hotel during all of my... more
Bed is comfortable, small kitchen is functional. Breakfast seems too simple. Other than that is good.
Fair hotel for the price. The fridge was too noisy. Other than that, the room was clean and comfortable.
We recently stayed at the Coastal Inn to attend a wedding and after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor . We didn't expect too much except a clean room perhaps but we were pleasantly surprised by what we got. The room was on the third floor on the corner and included a kitchenette with dishes, a small table, two person couch and chair and flat screen tv. The bed was a king size and very... more
Great experience. Good breakfeast good house keeper
The room was equippped with a kitchenette which was great to have the little extras included in the price of the room. The continental breakfast had lots of choices. The front desk staff were excellent and very knowledgable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was clean and I would recommend for the price you won't find a better place to stay. I will again.
I'd stay here again. I especially liked that I had a living room/kitchenette and a seperate bedroom. Big closets too. Good price.
Large rooms with kitchen. Do Not Use the pull out couch! Beds were great though. Price was good.
It was great. I got there and it looked like there was no bed? Just a big living room with a table and tv. Then I turned the corner and saw a mini kitchen with microwave and stove and oven and toaster and dishes and utensils. Made another turn and there were out two Queen beds. Very comfy room and nice bathroom too. It was like renting a small apartment. Good deal for an overnight stay for 82... more
Nothing fancy but clean and cozy. Free parking, breakfast and WiFi made it easy. Booking was last minute and simple, in and out quick.
Very nice, clean and quiet hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Bed were most comfortable for a good night sleep. Will definitely be staying there again.
This was the second time in the past 5 years that I have stayed at this hotel in Dartmouth, NS. The first time was OK and I expected the same this time. What I found was a very dirty coffee pot, which front desk replaced it while I went out to the mall to which the front desk lady stated was open til 10 pm. It closed at 9pm. There was popcorn on the bedroom floor from the last time it was... more
Very quiet even though close to street. Nice breakfast area and good supplies/food. a small stovetop, microwave and a small refrigerator that had a latch added to keep it closed and it needed to be defrosted. The pillows and the bathroom floor had long hair left from a previous user. Staff quickly changed the pillow cases for us.
First impressions are that the Coastal Inn is a bit dated but this is more than made up for in the warm and helpful staff who made us feel right at home. The suites are large and comfy and we stayed there as a team for nearly two months. The rooms are excellent value and would recommend then for anyone... more
I booked this motel on past experience and it did not fail to deliver a clean, comfortable room once again. Check-in was very fast, check-out even faster, all amenities one would expect in an efficiency unit were found and while I did not use many of them this time, everything I did use operated to my satisfaction. I would book a room here again in the future.
close to bridge crossing and industial park shopping . good room for extended stay with kitchenette
We recently spent five nights at this very central location.
Great place to stay as it is easy to get either side of the harbour from the Windmill road location.
Very pleasent & helpfull staff ,& the kitchenetes in ever room is a plus for family travellers.
This hotel considering its price is very exceptional, the room was very clean, beds were comfortable, I was surprised with the small kitchenette it included in our room with two double beds. The staff was very helpful as to where to go to eat, drink, and have a good time and how to get there.
Our stay was made better by the staff at the front desk, very helpful, the property is older, but it is evident that upgrades are being done, we found the room large and clean, the hotel is in an older part of the city, near the docks, not a great view from the rooms. All in all we would stay... more
The pictures of the rooms are not accurate. We have stayed multiple times and each time was worse then the last. The rooms are outdated yes but for the price we paid that would be expected. The first time we stayed the smell of must was overpowering when checking in. The other times we stayed all you could smell was... more
I booked the coastal inn through a third party website, and after checking out the site, wasn't sure what I got myself into! But it ended up being a pleasant place to stay. You can't let the old decor deter you. The staff was friendly and the rooms were perfectly fine. I enjoyed having the kitchenette in the room so... more
The Coastal Inn Dartmouth across the bay from Downtown Halifax is a very cost effective alternative to staying in Halifax itself.
It is also very handy to the cross bay ferry (only $2.25 per adult one way and a 12 minute trip) to Halifax waterfront which basically deposits you in the centre of town.
There are eateries on the Dartmouth...

This hotel is about 25 years old but has been updated and is comfortable. Located on Windmill road close to the bridges you can reach anywhere in Metro in 15 minutes. The continental breakfast is adequate.
While this wasn't our first choice when we started looking for places to stay in Dartmouth, we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel and our room. We ended up with a suite on the 3rd floor which had two rooms (a living area) and a bedroom area. We felt the cost was reasonable. Our room had a little kitchenette with... more
We booked at the Coastal at the VERY last minute on a budget and were pleasantly surprised at what we found. The hotel has more of a European feel than the major North American chain hotels, so those who are averse to slightly older fixtures may be turned off. However, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, the staff is... more
Coast Inn would be my stopping point while visiting Shearwater Aviation Museum and Atlantic Canada Aviation Museum.
This facility is three stories, with elevator. Cheching in was mae smooth and quick by both the man and woman at the front desk. Both ended up being helpful.
I found my room clean, spacious with a full kitchenette. A small stove, refrigerator,...

this was our second time at this location and we were very pleased by the cleanliness and the friendly service we had..my daughter left Christmas gifts there for us and at which the staff had no problem caring for and even looked after them for us till we checked out the next day..we ordered a pizza from Roberts just down... more
Booked on line in the evening when we arrived in Halifax. I have stayed there once before. The location is excellent, the staff as well, and the continental breakfast was better than most. It was a very good hotel accomocation at a very good price and would check it out first on a return visit.. Very satisfied.
Extremely clean, neat and comfortable. Nice personable staff checking in and out. Location was excellent.
This property is very run down and old. If you are on a budget and can get a great price, like $75 or less then maybe consider it. I am sure they never go that low though. I suggest staying at one of the nice properties right in downtown Halifax. They aren't as expensive as you might think. I've stayed... more
I have stayed at this Hotel every time I visit the city for year's.We are alway's treated very well, the staff are all very friendly. The room's are alway's clean & fresh, plenty of room,we love the kitchenette & micro-wave.And if your not already getting a great enough deal just for the room....they also have a great assortment of cereal, bagel's,toast, fruit, juice etc. for you... more
I stayed two night in this hotel which is not very close to the city centre and is more like a motel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean although you can see the age of the hotel especially in the bathroom.

“Easy drive into Halifax. The sightseeing book left in the room was excellent. Need to give the lobby a new look. It has a depressing feel when you walk in.”
