my sister, nephew, neice and my son and I stayed here for a night, just looking for a break from everyday life. while we were checking out, a person had jumped from a 25th floor balcony and died. he landed right in front of the doors. me and my 4 year old nephew witnessed him hit the ground right in front of us. I was crying and he was crying and while I was speaking to a police officer, staff members actually came out to look at me crying and went to the back area and started saying oh my god, shes still crying. laughing like it was funny. none of us will ever go back there. they actually told us at first that we couldn't leave because they had not checked our room. ridiculous. no sensitivity at all and they honestly need a new staff.
Did a lot of sightseeing. Loved it. Edmontonians very helpful.
The staff didnt seem to know what to do for the most part, but they were kind. We had brought our dog there, since It stated on Expedia that pets were allowed for 10/night. The first night they forgot to charge us for the dog. Second night they told us they did not allow animals. When we told them someone already knew we had our pet here, they charged $ 15/night instead of 10.00. No biggie.... more
I choose this hotel as the Matrix down the street has put their prices up substantially. So, to save a hundred dollars (really!) I decided to try this hotel. I found it old and tired, my room obviously hadn't been used in a while as everything was coated in a layer of dust. It was a hot day, and the room was also hot. The only temperature controller was in the bedroom, which was in a separate... more
Stayed in hotel with my daughter and granddaughter.
always enjoy my stay here. nice big suite with balcony. nice river view this time as well. close to transit and downtown sites
THe hotel was obviously a bit old and dated but the room was clean and well amintained. Bed was very comfortable and view of city was geat. For the price it was a good deal. I'd stay there again.
Loved staying at this hotel, though it has apartments/condos on some floors. We stayed for six days and enjoyed every minute of it. Close to popular attractions, great food eateries and major highways. Note that the hotel is tucked in a corner of downtown, and there is another Coast Plaza Hotel.
great space to move around, this room had a great view as well. staff were friendly.
were given a very large suite for a great price , wonderful views, will stay again
Not a lot of hotels offer hotels these days. The Coast Edmonton house does and keeps it clean ! It also offers a nice gym. The rooms are spacious suites. Additionally, all suites have full kitchenettes and supplies you need to store, prep, and cook a meal for those who want to do that.
Overall, the hotel offers a good place to stay. It's located centrally. I suppose it's unfortunate that...

Clean and spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Great downtown location. Friendly staff. Nice to have a kitchen in room.
Convenient downtown location. Be prepared to pay additional for parking.
Very helpful - pleasant and respectful. - I was able to walk to all my appointmnets - directions from staff very helpful.
The service was terrible, employees didn't know standard policies, there for not explaining them. The employees don't know how to handle confrontation, I got hung up on. I was told confirmation that my brother could check in before me no problem I called numerous times to confirm this, when he got there he in fact was not able to check in.
We stay at the Coast Edmonton House Hotel every time we come to Edmonton. The rooms are really nice, and the staff is wonderful! I recommend this hotel VERY highly!!!
I think that the Coast needs to review their business plan. Furniture that is dated and in poor shape does not draw return customers. Lights that don't work was also an issue - I needed to do some work but it was difficult to find a light that worked. The air conditioner spewed out water and it appears that there was no drain for the condensation. While I did not use the kitchen, cupboard doors... more
A nice clean and quiet room. Had a good nights sleep after a fun night out in Edmonton.
The service was great, it's evident they care about their guests. Very conveniently located, walking distance from jasper ave and church square.
Service was excellent. Due to construction it was difficult to access.
Perfect downtown location for what we needed. Room was roomy, bright, the kitchen was great. LOVED the shampoos, conditioners, and body washes. The scent was excellent and congratulations on being the first hotel I've ever been to with full size bottles! This is great when 3 long haired girls are planning to shower there. The elevators are a tad frustrating, especially first thing in the... more
Its a good hotel, good downtown location and reasonable accommodation price
Good central location for downtown and Shaw centre. Our floor was very noisy with other guests though. Zero insulation from noise in the doors. But the staff was excellent and tried to compensate, moving us to another room, etc. I would stay again. I think we just had bad luck.
Front counter service was good and the restaurant staff were friendly. Room, especially the bathroom, needs a thorough cleaning. Local road construction is an inconvenience to access the hotel. Underground parking was a challenge due to space limitations. We will not be staying at this hotel again.
Good Vehicle parking is abit of an issue with taller vehicles with low ceiling hieght
Mother/daughter: Booked this room to attend a concert at the Starlite Room on Mother's Day. The room was very nice and large. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom is a little small, but very well lit. Ordered room service and the food was very good and very well priced. Parking is a bit of an issue, but it is right downtown. Loved the fact that we could walk half a block to the venue.
It's nice to have a balcony to go out on and relax. I found the hotel to be overall quiet, the cleaning staff were very friendly and accommodating. The kitchen was great - the fridge kept the milk ice cold and the oven cooled off quickly. The hotel is close to downtown, walking distance to grocery store, Tim Hortons. I will stay again if I'm in Edmonton.
Just called to clarify parking is $15.75 per night (including tax). But ignore my rating I haven't stayed there.
so old that it was gross, no wonder the price was good.
The building showed its age but overall the room was kept clean and the staff were friendly.
The suite was very comfortable and clean; the pool was a nice size for swimming but we did miss having a hot tub.
stayed one nite while we were in town for a concert. Room was good, very big, separate bedroom and little kitchenette. fast elevators and lots of staff around . will stay again.
Dirty, Dated, $50 a night parking, Drunks, and Loud parties.
I stay at the Coast Edmonton House often because of work. Staff there is great, especially the front desk staff. Most rooms are recently updated and really nice. I stay in a lot of hotels and i must say this is good, especially when considering the price. The only draw back is the Resturaunt/Lounge which could do a better job of the food and and selection; but not really bad. Because I stay... more
“We stayed one night at the Coast Edmonton House. We were surprised to find out it was more of a one-bedroom apartment than a hotel room - living room, kitchen, dining area, bedroom and bathroom. This was great as we went to the grocery store and made supper to save a few dollars while traveling. I also spent some time in the fitness center - nice equipment and kept very clean. The only... more
“Don't stay at this hotel, is not worth whatever money you save. it may come with a small kitchen, but it is so run down, you will get depressed.”
“ The staff was friendly and helpful. We were in a one bedroom suite with all sorts of amenities. Not sure how to open up the door onto the deck to get some fresh air. Only an AC unit in the bedroom, which worked fine. Have to pay for parking. The laundry facilities were decent. Only one washer and dryer in a little closet, but there were several floors with laundry rooms so we utilized two of... more
“Excellent location and easy to access from whichever direction you travel to or from. Our suite was very large with a great skyline view of Edmonton. I'd gladly stay at this hotel again.”
“The Hotel is smart and offers some facilities that big hotels do not offer like a full kitchen. I was not able to park in the underground parking because my truck would not clear the parking roof so I had to walk to and fro the outside parking in the rain.”
“This hotel was almost perfect. I was in Edmonton for 10 days, so the fact that the room had a kitchenette, a living room, and a separate bedroom really made me feel more at home. What I hated was the Internet. First, it is unsecured wireless. Secondly, it was transmitting at a speed of 1 mbps. Both of this elements made it totally unacceptable for use as a business hotel.”
“This hotel is far over rated. I would suggest that is not better than a 2.5 star. It is certainly not a 4 star hotel.”
It looks great on the outside and its a very nice looking hotel but I was very unhappy with the service. I can back from work at six thirty and they hadn't done anything with the room yet and the hotel isn't that busy. I went to use my dishes and it looked as if they had wiped them off with a cloth and stuck them back in the cupboard. The TV reception was the worst I have ever seen. Overall I... more
The rooms are very spacious, the kitchens save us SO much money on meals while we vacation. The Pizza place across the street is awesome too. Pool is a little small, but the kids liked it just fine. The room had a few minor issues, but maintenance came right away to deal with them. We had the basic room (still a suite), but I think we'd spend the extra money to upgrade next time - the larger... more
Air conditioner did NOT work even though maintenance came in a few times and assured us it was working "just fine". They gave us excuses like "have to keep the door closed" (it was - the entire time except when we stepped out on the balcony for brief moments), "have to keep the drapes closed" (they were except for one day), "can't have anything in front of the equipment" (suitcases were not... more
“Upon initial arrival, we were given a room on the 7th floor that smelled of smoke, was dirty, and was certainly not a 4 star room. After filing a complaint, we were moved to a more upgraded suitable room, however still not a 4 star. The elevators rarely worked and when they did they were extremely slow.”
“Need more locks on doors. Some fixtures damaged.”
“The room was nice and clean and spacious although needs to be redecorated. eg. old plywood cabinets. The restaurant was very cold and quite expensive. There is an extra charge for parking and the lobby area is very congested inside and out. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our stay was nice.”
“This is a clean accessible hotel with friendly staff and excellent amenities.”
“I would most likely stay here every time I travel to Edmonton. Comfy, clean and friendly environment.”
“Clean well kept rooms, located near live theater, and an easy access to main corridors for travel.”
“Good for no frills. Looks like an apartment building that was converted into a hotel needs sprucing.”
“We liked the view and room layout - for us we would book in a minute at the price we paid.”
“Great centrally located spacious hotel. I really appreciated the business friendly aspects of the hotel without the nickel and dimming you get at many other business hotels. Highly recommended.”
“I love this hotel. It is the second time I was successful bidding and getting it. It has a decent gym, reasonable parking$10/day and is right down town. The area is perfect for walking/jogging with challenging outdoor stair climbs of a 1000 steps. The hotel is an old condo building that has been converted into a hotel. Both times my room was a suite/ living room and kitchen. great for meetings.”
“The room was large, suite style with a kitchenette and beautiful view of the river valley.”
“Public areas have undergone a good renovation. Rooms require more updating.”
“Great location, all rooms were suites, with kitchenette's and very comfortable.”
“The hotel was pleasant and the staff polite, my sister loved it, and it was a little nicer than I thought it would be for a 3 star rating, the view and location were exceptional. I would love to get try a 4 star next time since this choice was really nice, because I really enjoy fancy hotels and love my little getaways when I can take one. Thank you very much.”
“This hotel is close to everything you may want to see in Edmonton without a car. Buses are close by room had a kitchenette so was not at the mercy of the restaurant. Was like having your own apartment even for a short while. For the young leisure travel with not a lot of cash, this place wins, hands down.”
“Excellent service. All facilities are clean. Separate bedroom and kitchen facilities provide several choices for eating and resting. Wireless internet service is excellent and included in room cost. A swimming pool and weight room are excellent accessories. I would stay there again and would recommend it for other seniors who are looking for accommodation in downtown Edmonton.”
“It is a very poor cousin to other Coast properties.”
“When we checked in, they told us that they had been having heating problems so we didn't call and complain about the cold room. When we mentioned it at checkout, they asked us if we reported it during the night. We said no, because of the comment about boiler/heating problems. We just added another blanket and rolled over! Other than the lack of heat, we liked the hotel a lot!”
“We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Staff was friendly and courteous. Would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.”
“Clearly the best value on our Canadian trip out of seven nights in Canada.”
“We had stayed at this hotel many years ago. It was like visiting an old friend. The hotel is under renovation but the room was clean and we especially liked that it was a suite. My husband could go to bed and I could watch TV and use the free Wi-Fi internet without disturbing him. If we had stayed longer we could have used the kitchen facilities. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel and... more
“The staff here is very friendly and courteous. The down side is that the pool was closed, once I was charged a 25$ fee for not showing proper parking pass. I was not told there had to be. They did take down my license plate and i thought that was it. This time I was told its $9 a night per vehicle. They could also get a good stain remover for their chairs and sofas.”
“Like staying in a real nice place in 1975, not upgraded since.”
“The facilities are lovely and the staff very helpful. The pricing is deceptive when they charge $8.00 plus taxes extra per day for parking. I've never had to pay extra for parking and I was not impressed.”
“I liked the design of the hotel, it was easy to get from the parking to the room etc,but there was no info in the room on if there was a pool, restaurant or other amenities in the hotel. As a result we went elsewhere to eat and for relaxation. The beds were two singles and as a couple we would have expected a room with a queen etc. Also it was very cold- we turned the thermostat up to 80 but... more
“I enjoyed it for one nights stay. Kitchen facilities were convenient and up to standard. The best that can find in Edmonton for the price I paid.”
“The good: The full kitchen was very useful for those who want to save money on meals. The fitness room was very well equipped for a hotel fitness room. The cleaning staff I encountered during my staff was very friendly and polite. The bad: For some reason the bed was extremely full of static. I was zapped by the static basically every few minutes and that made it really hard to sleep. I... more
“Even though the thermostat was turn up fully, it still didn't get warm in my room. I was so cold. I got my statement slipped under my door the next morning.”
I really like this hotel as a family hotel. I just love staying there with my children - it's very child friendly with an air of sophistication that I enjoy.
room are really big, i think they used to be apartments, only bad thing is theres a pull out couch and a kind size bed..but its sweet and teh kitchens sweet and sweet :)
When I left my best business suit at the hotel, they packed it up and expressed to me in the States. Now, whenever I am in Edmonton, this is the place I stay. The staff we great. The view inspiring. And the rate exceptional. Sincerely, Colorado Traveler
“This hotel filled out needs because we went out for meals but for anyone booking there who plans to cook meals it's basically impossible without cookware, utensils or flatware. The location is right downtown and is well-suited for business travel. The renovated rooms are nice but the others definitely need freshening up.”
“I stay at Edmonton House every time I come to Edmonton. The suites are terrific. A nice break from the tiny hotel rooms one usually gets. Front desk service is friendly and the restaurant is surprisingly quite good. Parking is included in the hotel's underground lot, and the location is right in the heart of downtown. The views, especially from the upper suites, are impressive. Try to get a... more
View, price and location are the best. Receiption team is very friendly. Service level is ok but selecting service team wasn't the best in terms of shape and type.
View, price and location are the best.
Though not in an ideally located area, this hotel is inexpensive, and features extremely large rooms with often spectacular views. Well worth the price, especially if one has family. For $100 a night I don't think I have found a better deal anywhere I have travelled. Features a store downstairs which stocks everything you need if you get the munchies, and the rooms feature everything you need... more
We have stayed at the Edmonton House for 15 years now. We have always found it to be extremely clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. The Edmonton House is like a home away from home. We would never stay anywhere else.
