I just tried this theatre out for the first time recently and I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah it isn't all fancy and everything but it was dark so who cares. I just moved, so it's really convenient for me to get there and I love going to the movie so I'll definitely go to see a flick there again.
This old movie theatre has just a couple screens and no IMAX. However, the movie I saw here had good sound.
The seats don't have moving armrests and are the old red fabric but are comfortable.
Hardly anyone was here on a weekend night and no kids so if you want a quieter movie experience this would probably work for you. Just ignore how shabby things are.
My "woman" and I watched Tusk here, and it was not a good dating movie. In the movie, an old man sews a podcaster into a walrus! Not a good dating movie to say the least.
I'll go there from time to time because it's a convenient location for first run movies, but it's a bit lacking in customer service.
Sometimes the theatre only shows 3D versions of movies even when a 2D version exists, Even if you have glasses they make you buy new ones for 3D movies. When I asked a manager why you can't just reuse glasses she told me "That's just the way it is."

I am always raving about the Odeon. No crowds, not a lot of teenagers, no arcade and no million dollar concession junk food stands with unorganized lines and the owner greets you for the ticket. Oh, sure it doesn't have the plush seats and the popcorn price is equally obscene, but they have all the movies that aren't filled with the usual Hollywood mindlessness.
For a blockbuster fix while on holiday, book a seat at Cineplex Odeon Victoria Cinemas. With an exciting schedule of new releases, great sound and tech systems and menu of must-have refreshments, this is the place to go for fun time in the city. For tickets and more, call ahead.
