thought it would be classier
i came here with my husband on a date and thought it was going to be a classier place, from what i had read about it. but it was okay, just not a fancy place, just trying to be i guess.

Cilantro's casual and friendly atmosphere hides behind a forlorn stucco storefront that would look New Mexican if it weren't on an urban strip of 17th Avenue. It was my cousin's birthday and we were looking for a patio to celebrate with fine wine and delicious food. Cilantro was a great choice.

Still a great little place with a fabulous patio
September 04, 2013I had forgotten how much I enjoy this restaurant. It has been around for ages and for some reason I hadn't been back for year. I rediscovered it on a lovely August afternoon. The service was excellent as was the food. And the patio remains one of hte best in the city.

We absolutely loved Cilantro. The food is all prepared fresh using local/organic ingredients where possible and is beautifully presented.
They had some very interesting cocktails, a great wine list and really yummy salads; the nicoise salad was absolutely fabulous.

Last minute reservation.
Nice patio. Took forever to take our food order, but once in, food started flying in.
Food was ok. Mushroom soup seemed like chooped in a blender with the consistency of a sauce, more than a potage.
As for the linguini bolognese, the pasta was more like a bucatini and the sauce was too dry.

This is your date night extraordinaire spot if you can get onto the patio. It's expensive but for the most part delicious. One of my friends ordered the pasta special and basically got linguine with a bunch of mace on it - oddly made you want apple pie.

December 31, 2011New Years Eve. The noise in the restaurant was simply horrendous. One rowdy obnoxious group ruined a special evening, not just for our family but for many of the other diners also.
