For evening & "after-event" light meals ask for the "pub" menu, for best value.
For a special occasion, call ahead and ask for the "chateaubriand for two"....You'll be glad you did!!!
Great food and customer service. Very busy spot but food is worth it and it is relativly inexpensive
Friends and I come here for the late night special regularly. It is a great night out to relax, chat, and perhaps even socialize. On my last visit, we had to wait awhile to get a seat, which was a bit annoying. This has happened before, especially on Friday nights. I wish that they had a bigger venue. But this... more
Great bar to go to for a late night meal and beer! For $20 you get homemade pita nachos(or potato skin) and a pitcher of beer, what more could you ask for? Fantastic Nachos hands down, sweet and spicy with great toppings! I found all the elements of the nachos so well blended that I didn't need anything extra (salsa... more
We used to go often to the steak house for supper and it was one of my favorite restaurants in Saint John. Last time we went for lunch so we ate at the Pub downstairs. We saw mice running across the place. Told the waitress and she pretended to be surprised, and then I heard her telling someone "... it... more
My ribeye "new years special" had a lot to be desired coming from a place that considers itself a steak house. The best part of the meal was the side vegetables! Don't try their "crust" specialty if you don't like salt, certainly not worth the 3$. The "day after soup" was really chilli and if we were not mistaken it... more
We went in on a Friday after 4:00 before the place got busy and the place was filthy. There were three dirty tables so we seated ourselves at the least dirty one. When the server eventually made his way over from chatting with buddies we were given menus and it took a long time for him to come back to... more
Nothing to say but mice - not one mouse, but mice. However, since we ate before we noticed them I have reviewed based on what I thought before I left Ina great hurry!
Menu and food interesting and good. Location uptown close to Delta Hotel where we stayed. Steak delicious and nice ambiance.
I am hoping this is just a one off but we went here last night and it was a huge disappointment. First of all the waiter we had just did not seem interested in what he was doing or seem to listen to our orders. My sister ordered a salad with charred chicken and did not get the chicken. She... more
We ate at this pub based on a recommendation of a friend who lived in St.John. If it had not been recommended, we would never have found it, as it is hidden on an alley off the main street. The food was very good although there were enough mashed potatoes on my plate to feed the Canadian army! Service was... more
There are very few decent dining options in Saint John. It is unfortunate that while Moncton and Fredericton seem to be able to add some great restaurants, Saint John continues to miss the mark. Anyway this place is the worst in town. Unfortunately I have had to eat here multiple times as clients, for some reason request it. It is... more
After 5 days in the Maritimes trying the local beers and all the seafood, it was nice to settle down to a few Smithwicks! We had previously tried the Ale House - it was adequate only - and did not wish to return. We had the burger (excellent) and the penne with chicken & sausage (better than excellent!) Maybe we... more
I have frequented the pub for a late night special (pitcher of beer and an appetizer: either potato nacho, pita nacho or wings) on a fairly regular basis over for years now, in fact Churchill's USED to be my favorite place for a late night bite and cold one.
I can always say the service has been dead on, they're...

We stopped by since I have been here before, and decided to have a few drinks and some deep fried pepperoni. Service is friendly, prompt and efficient. Drinks are good, prices decent.
Was able to get a table this try so business must have been a little slow. Waiter took our order as well a the order from the table right beside us. Meals were delivered to both tables at close to the same time. The waiter checked with the other table several times but as he was walking away, my husband... more
we had our daughters wedding lunch on feb1 2013 was by far the worst food ever. all the food was cold the service was worse than the food was not like we was a surprise table we had a res for a month, severs never came back to the table to inquire why some people never ate their food was... more
I am originally from Saint John and go there now and then for business. The food is absolutely horrible. Perhaps I am doing it wrong as I have been ordering steaks when I go there and I have tried various ones. But they call themselves a steakhouse, so you think they would get this right.
I do like the 3...

Service was great but food was surprisingly mediocre. For some reason the heat was out and it was cool in restaraunt, bordering on uncomfortable. Ordered the NY strip with mashed potatoes and a side of mushrooms and onions. Steak was good and cooked as ordered, really the only thing worth eating. Potatoes were terrible - two mouthfuls and I was... more
Slow service, couldn't get seated....should have left then! Food was okay if you're looking for pub food.....terrible for a steak house! Extremely overpriced! We love eating at quality restaurants and price never matters ......felt sick leaving there for what we paid for a so so meal....waste of a good dinner out and huge waste of money..... more
This was my last of three tries at this place. bleh.
This time three meals of four were poor. How do you screw up roast beef? I suspect you serve it as a leftover from the day previous. It was tough and cool to the touch after being under the heat lamp. Are you serious? That was two of our...

I have been here SEVERAL times, with friends and with family. I love how the restaurant has the different level, the pub, restaurant and the upper floor which is quieter. The food is amazing and they have a great variety of food!!!
This was a nice decor; I just haven't had a chance to visit in sometime.Quiet and pleasant. I'm sure the food would be good too.
Churchill's has good food. It is well prepared and served in a timely fashion. But pay attention to the menu descriptions. I wasn't very hungry, so I ordered the Caesar salad, with sliced steak added. The salad was huge, with enough bacon, cheese, and croutons to satiate a linebacker. The steak was nicely done, but superfluous. There was enough protein... more
We stopped in here, after reading some reviews, looking for a "pub atmosphere"........beers and good food. We found both combined with friendly personnel. Dan the bartender, a native St. Johnathan, was wonderful with providing local color and really attentive to the amount of scottish ale in our glasses. The waitress also was quite chatty, providing information on Canadian food customs... more
Great pub food and atmosphere. Reasonable prices and the service was very good. Nice evening out with colleagues, or friends
Went here last night for dinner after arriving in town fairly late. Atmosphere was very nice. The walls are decorated with various brands of beer paraphernalia in a tasteful way. Also has a bit of aged character to it which jives very well. Service was good. The waitress was polite and timely with our food. We didn't feel rushed to... more
Good place for steak. It is a little difficult to find. It is a rustic restaurant where you enter on the second floor, with the largest eating area on the third floo. There is a small parking area immediately behind the building.
This is where the locals go. To get the Saint John experience, come here. Try the potato nachos or the Spinach/Artichoke Dip. It gets busy, but grap a standing spot by the bar if you can. It's worth it.
Excellent food in the downstairs bar area that was welcoming for our family. Good choices, prompt service, and nice atmosphere. The burgers and salads were great. Nice option for have half of a baked sweat potato with the burger. Recommended.
Coconut shrimp was great. Good beer selection and nothing beats a chilled tap for bud or keiths. Next dinner in saint john will be here.
I go to Churchill's almost every time we eat out and we're never disappointed! The food is great and the service is always quick and friendly. Mixed with a relaxed atmosphere, it makes for a very enjoyable experience.
We sat upstairs and it was too cold. I feel like I should have worn long-underwear. The service was worse. Our server barely acknowledged us and we basically spent the whole night trying to get her attention. She forgot things and then dealt with tables that had just been seated while we sat with dirty dishes and empty glasses trying... more
Great pub atmosphere, many beer on tap & good food. Try their artichoke dip. The red wine is served too warm - like most bars and restaurants.
Four of us had dinner on the third floor to celebrate a 20th anniversay. The 3 filets were all over cooked to the point of being hard. When we ordered a second bottle of wine the waiter explained we had to empty a wine glass as they were out of glasses. They wete borrowing glasses from Mexical Rosa's. Too much... more
This sprawling little restaurant is clean, function and can be very expensive. There are two different menu's and often you are only given the expensive one when you walk in. The restaurant caters to a variety of customers since the downstairs is a pub and the upper levels are usually packed with large groups. It is not as relaxing as... more
Typical pub food. Good food & service. Would go again.
We dropped in without reservations and got a table on the 3rd floor, which is their steakhouse. Actually this was much better than the 1st floor. Their seafood chowder was absolutely excellent (served with a couple of multigrain bread loaves), but their fish and chips was less than average. Service was excellent too, fast and friendly.
We ate in the pub on a cool June evening. It was very cold in the restaurant. We spoke to the server who said it was just Saint John weather. I ordered musells which very quickly became too cold to eat. Told the server about it. He asked me if I wanted to take the mussels home Ugh! When I... more
On Friday evening, my husband and I had a light supper that consisted of bacon wrapped scallops, pita nachos with chicken and an apple pecan salad. We loved the food, the beer and the atmosphere; we sat in a booth on the 1st floor. We were staying at the Delta, a short walk to the restaurant, so the location was... more
Nothing was served with seafood chowder($13). Waited for about 5 mins and asked for my roll, J (my waiter the other night) told me they don't serve rolls with the soup...

I love the the char crusted steak but it don' love me. Seems way over priced!
The place seems dirty out in the seating areas and what I saw of the kitchen I won't eat here again
The best atmosphere of any pub/restaurant in town
Love our Friday night visits, even if just for a drink before heading elsewhere
Most attentive, knowledgeable bar staff in town
I always go to church st when i can, excellent service and very good wings :)
My mother has chowder at every restaurant and this is her favourite so far!! We ended up eating here both nights since this was the only pub we could find that actually served food. Everything we ate at Churchill's was amazing. Our compliments to the chefs!
The staff here is wonderful and funny, yet professional. There are a regular group...

I ordered the chicken broccoli stir fry and my boyfriend ordered the chili. The service was fast and very friendly. A nice experience.
Be warned -- the address on trip advisor is incorrect.
I've been to Churchill's a few times (normally every time I visit Saint John) and it's always been great! The steak is delicious!!
This time I ate in the pub, and it was fantastic as well. Try the deep fried pickles. :)
I really enjoy Churchill's. It's a great place to come with a group and relax. Their citrus chicken burger is so delicious. I'm also a fan of their appetizers... if you're looking for a casual place to eat... this is a good choice. And if you end up upstairs at the Steakhouse you can still ask for the less-expensive pub... more
This is a good spot for a pub meal or a nice steak. It is a bit expensive, but overall an enjoyable experience.
The best eatery in Saint John. You have got to try the potato nachos and the fried onion, EXCELLENT!
This was the best pub/restaurant I've been to in Saint John in so long...what a little hidden gem...going back tonight..cannot wait....great pub atmosphere...delicious wings and burgers!! They do not rely on a big chain name, the food and service sells itself. Excellent!
ps. our table by the window was a bit drafty, that's what i get for wearing a t-shirt...
