we ate here after a recommendation from a friend.. the fried clams are as good as it gets. we ate outside so our dogs could be with us.. lots of picnic tables.. we tried Fred's and it was not nearly as good.. these were almost too hot to eat and sweet and juicy.. best we found outside of Captain Bob's... more
I tasted their fried clams, scallops, fish and shrimps and they were fantastic! They weren't as greasy as alot of other places in the area. And they were really fresh. The service and atmosphere were great. I recommend this place.
Well this was my 1st experience and the clams were perfect, juicy, and tender,
Great portion size as well,
Ask for the homemade Tartar sauce
This place was a great place to eat. If you enjoy clams and fresh seafood. I really enjoyed their fresh french fries as well. Overall the service was good the food was good and the atmosphere was good.
Great fried clams. To all those grease obsessed snobs out there- go ahead and splurge once in awhile and taste fried clams like they deserve to be cooked. Life is too short.
Our first trip this year, and our last ever. Their clams were frozen and very greasy, but they were nowhere near as horrible as the absolutely revolting burnt greasy scallops. The only reason they got a poor instead of terrible is that their fries were edible. There are too many better options in the area to suffer such dreadful food.
Leo's mainstay is their fried clams and they do not disappoint. A bit of an old school setting where you can either sit inside or grab a picnic table outside near the water and watch the road and boat traffic go by. Not on the main trail in Shediac where all the tourists flock, but is well worth going five... more
If you have a low tolerance for grease, go somewhere else. I needed almost 24 hours to digest their fried clams and don't even understand how so many people can rush there to get their fix (it's non-stop orders at the counter). Feels like you drink a full bottle of oil with clams floating in it, really...
Staff is very...

Chez Leo is a must try for fried clams! It's about $15 for a clam dinner, which comes with a plentiful helping of fries topped with a large serving of clams, and finished off with a dinner roll. The clams are the best in the area. We usually go for take-out, but there is also a dine-in area that is... more
A nice, humble casse-croûte just outside of Shediac on the 134 (Shediac Bridge). You can get service from outside or order from inside and sit in the ample indoor dining room.
Staff are friendly local teens. Our order of 2 clam dinners and a fish & chips took some time to prepare, but was worth the wait. Clams were in...

We stopped in while driving through. Had not been here in a while. Even better than we remembered. Clams are great. Fish was also nice. Kids had burgers. Portions size and price were also great. Great great great.
Every time we're in Shediac/Caissie Cape this spot is mandatory. Personal favorite is the clam dinner with fries poutine (only $15). Great prices, quick service, to-go or dine-in.
If you are a fried clam fan, then you'll most certainly enjoy this place.
We stopped in this past weekend for a treat.
Clams were great and plentiful, and service was good.
Enjoy !!!
My mom makes the best fried clams in the world and these come extremely close! Made fresh from real clams and not strips. We make it a point to come here a few times each summer. Perfect place for a picnic on the many tables outside. They also have dine-in if you prefer. If you're in the area, this is... more
Quick service, great clams and fries and coleslaw Scallops are good also, it's a good little spot to stop and eat
Clams were great! Scallops had perfect flavor and the lobster rolls were generous. Friendly staff great views. I would come back.
Awesome fried clams, seared scallops, and amazing lobster roll! We noticed a lot of customers there and decided to try it out. Very glad we did!
We were told to go here by pretty much everyone. It's very popular with the locals and it was hopping the night we went there (out if season). Try the fried clams. The are the most famous dish. I didn't really think they were amazing or anything, but they were good. I actually preferred the scallops to the clams. They... more
Simple lobster rolls and some of the best fried clams in the Shediac area. This is very good food. When Chez Leo opens it means good time, sunshine and that Summer is here even though it is only May, as I write this review. If you love take-out food that is simply made and delicious please visit this restaurant. They... more
Been visiting this location for the past 25 years! They've always been constant. They don't have to overfill the plate like others in the area, their seafood is always excellent!!
If you are looking for an interesting alternative to typical fast food chains, and/or love fried clam, this is a good local place to enjoy a quick meal. A popular seasonal restaurant in an area where there is little other choice in restaurants.
However, the building and furnishings were old and the food, other than the fried clams, was only...

Summer time fun food and relaxing! After a summer long day, eat the best fried clams and seafood in the selected menu. Cooked well and exiting choices. Eat outside in the sunshine with the ocean view. AAA++ touch of personal service with a smile.
As an NB native, I've grown up around fresh seafood all my life. Chez Leo is my favourite clam place of all time, and I drive down bi-weekly from Moncton every summer. We love the little drive along the coast line, so beautiful! Once our clams (and fish burgers-also amazing) have been ordered, we take a little stroll along the... more
I live in this area where seafood is very plentiful and available. LUCKY ME! Every restaurant/take-out has their own way of preparing wonderful fried clams. I love them and have tried them in MANY places.
Chez Leo has it hands down in my opinion! This take-out/restaurant is just a little pit stop along the roadway; very unassuming and you would probably...

Chez Leo is the place for fried clams in the Shediac area, according to the locals, and who am I to argue. This is a basic take-out place, although they offer a few tables inside and out. The signature clams were tasty and they do offer other seafood treats as well, including very decent fish and chips. The day of... more
Searching for clams like we get in New England, were told to come here. The clams were just okay however, we ordered whole clam dinners and half the plate were strips. Didnt want to make an issue at the time, not sure if this is normal or an error. Still searching .... more
I was very happy with this visit. I explained to the employee's that we were visiting from out of town. They were so welcoming and friendly. Food was good. I enjoyed the fried clams. After a meal of fried everything we enjoyed a walk in the area, watching the sunset glisten on the water.
Chez Leo has been an institution for decades in this part of the world. I own a cottage nearby and have been coming here for years. While they could ramp up their menu by serving REAL french fries and not that frozen c@!p, their fish and clams are really good. Prices are high in this seasonal place and that disappoints... more
Based upon past reviews we had lunch here and cannot agree that this is the # 1 rated restaurant in Shediac. The staff were friendly and service was fast. The restaurant was clean and washroom adequate. But the order of fish & chips were undercooked and not good. The fried clam dinner had some clams on a huge bed of... more
We stopped in here based on a friend's recommendation. We order clams and fish dinners.
The counter person was cheerful and helpful.
I can't say this was my favorite fish or clam experience in the area but it was good.
It has a take-out window in the front and self-serve seating on the side.
We tried a couple of places for this local treat and hands down...Leo's is the best! Good sized portions were hot and tender.
It is worth the short drive from Shediac and trust me you will be rewarded. The place is also busier than most other restaurants of this type but the wait is not long. Locals and tourists love...

This is the place for fried clams. It is a bit outside of Shediac but well worth the short drive. They are the same great taste and quality that my wife remembers from the 60's. Don't miss them.
Since I was a little girl, and my Mom was a little girl, this place has been THE staple location to get the best fried clams anywhere. They are lightly battered, and are WHOLE CLAMS none of this strips business, served with fresh cut fries. We love the atmosphere, there is a small dine in restaurant, but we always choose... more
Just went to this restaurant for lunch. The fried clams were excellent. Cooked to perfection and so tasty. You won't be disappointed!
Came a long way to get a good feed of fried clams and this was an excellent choice. Friendly staff in a simple retro style family restaurant. Nothing fancy but fabulous food and at a great price. Generous portions too! Would definately visit again and highly recommend. Fried food that's not greasy just fresh & delicious! A++++++
This is by far the best fried fish I have had in this kind of setting. It is an semi-take-out-self-serve place. The staff is friendly. The fried seafood has a very light batter of juicy, flaky seafood. It is always clean. The prices are very reasonable, the quality is excellent.
I love fried clams and I was told by many that this was the place. I was not disappointed. Good food and friendly service.
this is a little treasure found just outside of Shediac. If you like really good fried clams then this is the place for you. The portions are a good size and very tasty. When I am in Shediac I always make it a point to go here to have my treat.
Way better than i expected, this Restaurant did deliver, with a party of four, we were stuffed! Had the Clams and Fish! Everyone had the same response, Great!
Stopped there on a Sunday afternoon to taste their fried clams. The claims were very good but a bit pricey for the portion. The best clams with huge portions are at BelAir in Cap-Pele.
we usually get clams at Aboiteau but decided to try chez leo for a change. their home made tartar sauce is wonderful. the staff are so friendly and helpful. the food is excellent. their batter is so light. not only is it a better overall experience than anywhere else near there but it is also less expensive
I haden't gone to this place for a few years, so one summer day we stopped by to have a good fry clams snack, I was very dissapointed as the clams were not crunchy like I remebered , I will certainly will not return to this place. Maybe it was just a bad day but the clams were all soggy.
Great place for fried clams and scallop burgers! Nothing fancy, but very good! You won't be dissaponted!
Their fries are home-made and delicious. And the clams . . . not your store-bought clams! They are huge and so, so delicious!!!
We decided to visit Chez Leo based on the good TA reviews and were not disappointed.
We had great scallops - really sweet and perfectly cooked in a light tasty coating, the fries were also very nice, and everything was hot. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and efficient.
We will definitely return.
Good food and staff wounder there been in buisness for a very long time whort to make a litle detour if your on your way to PEI stop in CAPE PElE
Stopped by Chez Leo's for the first time on the weekend as we were passing through the area on our way to PEI. My husband had read the reviews on TripAdvisor so we decided to give it a try. As for the customer service, I totally agree with the review dated July 17, 2012, the staff are totally disorganized! With... more
We were recently in Shediac on vacation and had planned in advance to visit Chez Leo as this has always been our first choice for fried clams. We have recently driven from Ontario through the US and up the eastern seaboard. We have eaten a lot of fried clams. We came to this diner/restaurant because of Trip advisor and we did not regret our visit even though the owner felt the clams were not at their best as the clams are spawning. They were the best we... more
Fried clams at Chez Leo is a "must do" for us every time we are home in the summer. Nice small clams and always perfectly cooked. You can drive your car through the field to a picnic table and enjoy the fresh air while you have your lunch. Wonderful place to eat!!
I could not find a website for this great little place, but a link to another review site is provided. I am not sure if Shediac Bridge is actually a separate town from Shediac, but it is just 2 miles or so north of there.
