It's truly "beers of the world". They have a large variety of beers. Their food is also good. The place is pleasant and the patio on the side walk is great during the summer.
First of all, you should know....Chester isn't a real person (I asked!). Secondly, all the beers a beer lover could want. They used to be located next door to where they are now and the decor was better, but still it's a cute little place that reminds me a little bit of cheers and they have every beer you could... more
1. star for atmosphere / decor
4 stars for the beer selection
Beer always trumps atmosphere & Decor - 4 stars overall. I was shocked to find this piece of beer heaven in Hamilton.
The beer menu is arranged similar to Beir Market and Town Crier - listed by Country. Massive Belgium and German section (woo hoo). Any bottle I could get at Barhop in Toronto could be found at Chester's and then...

This is the best place in Hamilton to find any beer in the world. I can't say anything about the food as I've only gone there for the huge selection of beer. My buddy ate the pizza and said it was awesome.
The drinks/beer selection is amazing, very comfortable too, have only eaten here once, food is very good a great gathering place with friends.
The selection here is quite good, but the service is amazing!
I have been here several times with large groups and we have always had the same (and maybe the only) server. She is very knowledgeable and patient when we dont know what to order.
the Menu is being updated to reflect the new beers and the beers that they...

It's always nice to be able to drink one of the beers I've experienced on my travels around the world. Brings back memories. So go have yourself a Victoria Bitter from Australia, mate.
We had so much fun tasting all the different kinds of beer. What an amazing selection and the server really made it fun. She knew all the kinds of beers to recommend and interesting stories of each brewery big and small, near and far.
If you are a bar fly, then this is the kinda place for you. I was at convention at the Crowne Plaza and was needing some downtime. Looking for the nearest tap+grill, I entered Chesters, just a block away.
After passing the locals near the entrance I was greeted with a warm smile and the Beer Menu. Much to my...

It is an average type beer bar, nothing to write home about
great spot to grab a unique beer, with a menu that separates them by country. But the food is very pedestrian, and the menu hasn't changed in a couple of decades.
This downtown Hamilton pub feels more like an American hole in the wall bar --- narrow, and very, very long. It's kind of dingey, and the furniture has seen better days, or decades. The food isn't bad --- I had the parmesan on a bun, with fries --- but the attraction is the beer, hundreds of them, listed by country... more
Great selection of beers from all over the world. Although they may not have what you want on hand, the options are endless. I love the old fashioned wood and stained glass decor. Decent finger food menu.
Fifth stop on a recent trip to Cambridge, Hamilton, and Niagara Falls with mrmanning. This place resembles a 1920s cigar bar with faded wooden tables and chairs dispersed throughout an enormous, narrow establishment. A display of dusty beer bottles greets you at the front entrance. We grabbed a booth in the back where we enjoyed a night of drinks and laughs with our new-found friends from Bar... more
I finally got the chance to hit up Chester's with a buddy of mine. Certainly an old fashioned bar with older wood panelling for walls and an interesting copper fireplace. Lots of beer bottles immaculately displayed. I didn't really notice a lot of taps but it seems to have an ample selection of both single malt whisky, frozen vodka (which I had never scene before), wine and of course beer of... more
I just came back from going here for the second time, and it's a pretty solid place. The atmosphere is warn and dated with about %80 of this place being dark wood and the boths looking like seats from an '80's mini van, but all of it is unique and adds to the feel of an old style bar. Our server was polite, quick, and seemed like she knew the menu well. Their bottled selection is vast and... more
They can go to hell for not having any beers from the New Belgium Brewery.
you can find almost any beer in here...and i kinda like the atmosphere, even if it's a bit strange.
It's been around for a long time, but I think the outside needs a re-vamping.
Considering I work across the street from this place it's only natural to visit it every now and then. The selection is unmatched to anything else in the area. The Waitress/Bartender (She was doing both that night) was relatively knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered Gulden Draak and although it was served way too cold, (The waitress had said she poured it improperly and attributed that to the... more
Chesters has 2 things that make it a nice place. They have a terrific patio that fronts right out onto King Street in downtown Hamilton, and they have one of the best selections of beer in the city. Maybe even the country.
The food is so-so. But then again, I've never gone there for the food.

We walked into Chester's not knowing what to expect, just that there was supposed to be some fine beer here. We were greeted by a blast from the past - the whole place looked to be straight out of the 70's, with lots of wood everywhere and many small tables and booths opposite the long bar. We seated ourselves towards the back, where there were larger tables available and started enjoying the... more
This little known gem is in downtown Hamilton. For a place outside of Toronto or Montreal it is incredible. Not only is there a host of bottled beer second to Smokeless Joe's, but there are also many aged versions around. The manager is very dedicated to beer, and keeps the place open and staffed though it is very quiet weeknights. It is very presentable, and not to be missed if you are... more
