I went in the afternoon one day, and a young guy was behind the counter making the food. He hardly smiled or said a word. I don't think that he is the friendly and enthusiastic guy other people have talked about. Like another reviewer said, it felt like I was inconveniencing him for ordering.
The decor looks very cheap, the...

Food wasn't anything special and way over-priced for what you get. Not much variety to menu. Also wished they served their food in more environmentally friendly containers or else use glass plates.
Look here's the deal with this place.
If you are going for atmosphere, give it a pass.
The room is one large floor with a bank of north facing windows looking out onto a bland parking lot and inside there's a couple dozen funky table and chairs sets that look like they were pulled from the Mexico City dump, and...

It's kind of a hit and miss with this one. Sometimes (most of the time) I get great service and the food is fantastic for such a great price! Other times the staff acts like you're inconveniencing them by being there, they will add half the meat I got from previous visits and the rice and beans are cold. That... more
My husband and I will not eat at Café Verde again. Each time we have been sorely disappointed. The tortillas continued to be nearly inedible, being 1/2 inch thick, the meat is dry and I've found everything I've tried is bland. The menu items and even the paint-splashed furniture is similar to Café Rio in the U.S., but miles behind... more
I felt like something different for lunch today and just happened to spot the sign for Cafe Verde. I was welcomed immediately upon entering, and the staff were very friendly.
I ordered the taquitos - it comes with four small, soft tortillas filled with your choice of meat and fillings. I also ordered a pina colada drink (non-alcoholic). Overall, the food was delicious. I had only a couple of...

I have been here a few times now and it just keeps getting better and better. I think it takes awhile to get a good understanding of the menu and what it offers but I think I finally got it! Portions are large. One taco, quesadilla, etc. is plenty because of the sides of rice, beans, and salad that are... more
I had a burrito with carne asada, frijoles, cheese and mild sauce. It was really good. I grew up on the Texas/Mexico border. This was close to authentic considering we're in Canada! It was a huge burrito - less than $10. Give it a try.
Amazing all around, but I love cafe Rio in Great Falls, so this was easy. Almost identical. Love the atmosphere, the fresh food, large variety and the staff did well. I can't wait to bring my husband next time, he's gonna love it!
I REALLY want to like this place. But I honestly don't.
I tried again with the burrito. They failed again with the burrito.
The tortillas are too thick, the cheese is too sparse, the meat is too dry and the rice and beans have no flavor.
Not coming back again.
I am a Mexican food connoisseur; it is so great that Lethbridge has this fine little café. It is built on the model of Café Rio that started in Utah in the late 90's. I typically hit little hole in the wall places along the US/Mexico border on both sides. This is not one of those places. This is a healthy twist on Mexican food. When I am in Lethbridge this is my new place.
My wife and I have been looking for a place like Cafe Verde for a while. One of our favorite places to eat in the States is Cafe Rio and we just haven't been able to find anything comparable... until now. We will definitely be eating there again on our next trip to Lethbridge. One word of advice... avoid the... more
This little place is as Authentic Mexican food all the way, it tasted like the food I had in Cozumel and Costa Maya. The fact you move along (like your at Subway) is a little different but the end result is good. You can try various combinations with your food so each time is different. The food is fresh and... more
We went to this restaurant for the first time last week. The food was good: not great, but good. Self serve set up. Prices aren't too bad, until you order a drink, which increases the price by at least a third. There was more than enough food for one person in a meal. I did find that the music was... more
After reading the enthusiastic reviews of this place I had to go because (a) I love Mexican cuisine and (b) I hate eating at fast-food joints. Oh dear, imagine my surprise. It's cafeteria-line fast food. And not exactly what one could call cuisine. It's more Tex-Mex than anything one can find, for example in Mexico City or the Yucatan. It... more
I read a review that stated this was an obvious rip off of an American Franchise!!! Are you serious??? I live in Belize and travel to my home town of Lethbridge all the time and this restaurant isn't a blatant ripoff of anything. It's traditional Mexican food...done right. The flavours are exactly what I was hoping for!!! Local Mexican food... more
best authentic mexican food i have had outside of mexico. The quality is good, the prices are not bad. The only complaint was that the decor of the place could be a bit better. It has the feeling of a shopping mall food court unfortunately.
If you have never been to one of the many Cafe Rio restaurants in the USA this place does a fairly good job of bringing that experience to Lethbridge. The decor and menu are basically identical, however my wife (a Utah native and Cafe Rio fanatic) and I felt that the food and the flavors still need some work. It... more
This is a great little place tucked away behind a couple of other restaurants on Mayor McGrath. It's colourful inside, and there are lots of choices. We're vegetarian, and it was nice to actually have some options that were clearly not just a second-thought add-ons. The food's very fresh and tasty, and the presentation's quite cheerful. Great lunch place.
Food has been excellent as of late. Prices got reduced in the new year back closer to original and new menu items added. Fajitas are amazing and so is the 3 milk cake!
Lethbridge is not known for an abundance of great places to eat and that's doubly true of food that isn't steak and potatoes. Cafe Verde is a Mexican grill, offering lots of choices in how you want your burrito or enchilada. The food is good and tastes fresh. It's remarkably good value. And there is an abundance of flavour, particularly... more
The food is really good. We had the steak tacos and quesadilla and they were delicious. Everything is fresh, you can see them making most of it because of the open kitchen. The small tortillas are not homemade but they are still very tasty. I will definitely be back!!!
It's like some fast-food outlets where you have to make a dozen decisions at a counter to get your food. There seems a sense of urgency when you're ordering, probably because the people behind you are eager to get their chance. The staff are helpful, though, and the food is delicious while being reasonably priced. If you're looking for a... more
Excellent mexican restaurant if you're looking for tacos or a burrito. Very similar concept to Chipotle in the US. The tortillas and toppings are both homemade and very fresh. The salsas are also very tasty.
ok I will start with my only negative - STOP with the FOIL dishes.
The food is fresh - tasty - EVEN the TORTILLAS!!!! As someone who makes home made tortillas I love this. We had the salsa and chips, chicken enchiladas, sweet pork taco, carne asadas tacos. ALL wonderful, amd authentic. There is no service it is kind of...

This restaurant offers DELICIOUS, fresh, handmade dishes with GIGANTIC portions for a fraction of the price you would pay elsewhere. Hands down this is one of the best deals for your money in the whole city.
This is actually a fast food restaurant - so don't go thinking you'll have the service or quality of a full service restaurant. Having said that, the food is actually quite good, the serving sizes are very generous, and you can't beat the price. Our meals were under $10.00 and there was more than we could possibly eat.

Cafe Verde is a new Mexican restaurant that has just opened up in Lethbridge. When my boyfriend and I first walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and a delicious aroma. As we proceeded to look over the menu and make our decisions, the owner came over and introduced himself to us and was very nice and helpful with telling us what we should order based on what our taste preferences were.... more
