Entered from the street, first appearance atmosphere is dated and uninspired. Later noticed the entrance from the back (mall?) and the rear of the space is nicer. Service was slow and not overly welcoming. Food was tasty and servings were ample, no unique flavors but just good solid food. Would go back but might try a few other places first.
My husband had been dreaming of poutine since we'd arrived in Canada but I made him wait until we arrived in Quebec City. We went to Cafe Buade for lunch in hopes of scoring some delicious poutine and we were not disappointed. We were able to have the fixed menu which included cream of vegetable soup (delicious!), the poutine of... plus
We visited Quebec in mid February staying at the Hotel Frontenac. We found the Le Café Baude during our touring (a short distance from the hotel) and decided to have breakfast here each day of our stay. The selection of breakfast items were excellent and the prices even better. The waitress that served us was very pleasant and tended to... plus
Cold, bland, dried out food at expensive prices with unattentive, equally cold service. And the waiter felt the need to point out service wasn't included, an unfortunately crass trait across Québec. To be avoided!
Had breakfast twice - staff were very friendly, looked after us and our 7 month old baby. The Buade brunch is a monster but if you're hungry it's a great option, good portion and good quality food - all for $16. My wife had the Benedict options and they were also really good. Worth a visit.
We enjoyed a relatively nice meal and the service was adequate to a point. But what ruined the meal was the attitude of the server. She questioned our tipping and we were put off from there. We were going to return the following day to experiment with their diverse menu but we were prevented due to this experience. I suggest... plus
Busy place so service may be slow but was polite. Tried their poutine, the Quebec specialty ( home fries covered in gravy and cheese curds) and found it delicious. My husband had pea soup and enjoyed it.
Unfortunately we did not have the luck everyone else seems to have had at this old restaurant.
Buade is the Worst place to eat in Quebec! Went there on Dec.27 for lunch, VERY DISSAPOINTED!!
Cuisse de poulet BBQ $17 was horrible, it was cold, hard and not tasty.
Filet de Poulet pannes $15 (chicken nuggets with fries) not good
Soupe...

I came back the next day because the food was so very good. Yes, you can choose a fancier place but truly you will not find better food. I ate at 3 places in this city and had absolutely no complaints. I don't think you can find a city like that. Just reminiscing about it now makes me so hungry!... plus
We were there on 26th of December and had dinner there. Joelle D- waitress was very helpful and provided excellent customer service. Joelle- Thank you for making our experience wonderful. The food was very delicious as well. Will definitely highly recommend this place.
This is my first visit to Quebec. I do not speak French but the wait staff was kind to accommodate in English. I tried the Poutine as I was told this was a local favorite dish. I was not disappointed. Probably one of the best things I have eaten. I hope to return here again someday.
I ordered a General Tao, i was curious as how they would have presented it since this food is typically not canadian. I like challenges i guess lol Well it was a fail, the chiken was simply just stir fried chicken. that was false advertisment.
The wife took a rib, which was the main dish. The rib was not even cook. It was hard as a rock.
my new name for it, Cafe Beurk
There are better restaurants around for the same price.
Do not go to that restaurant. I went there with a friend and his family that were visiting Quebec City last week. The fact that we could sit 7 people without reservation on a Friday night when everywhere around was full should have been the first hint of what was to come.
We waited over 45 minutes to get the food after the order was taken from the waiter. In the meantime 4 people arrived after...

Just had cake and cappuccino. The cake was overpriced for its size and a bit stale.
This restaurant was recommended by a local. I tried the pea soup and the poutine here. I enjoyed it what I had, but my wife said her fish dish was a bit "fishy". Then again, the fish she had should taste fishy. The service was great, I wish I could remember the girls name that served us. I thought that the price was good considering how expensive this city is.
Last time I came here, the food was good. So I wanted to take my family there this time for lunch.
I still remember the tender and juicy prime rib steak! I recommend my dad to give it a try. And he loves it :) My mom wasn't too hungry, so she ordered the Caesar salad. It was good, and great portion too! My sister ordered the spaghetti with mushroom and meat sauce, not too special. As for...

Restaurant Cafe Buade and the street it is on in Old Quebec (inside the wall) is named after Louis de Buade, who was Governor-General of Canada from 1672-1682 and again from 1689-1698. I'm told that this is the oldest restaurant in Quebec, but you wouldn't know it based on general appearances.
They have a comfortable and warm environment. The decor includes stone walls (what else?) and wood...

A beautiful French cafe, Buade is has a cozy atmosphere, which seems perfect for a laid-back meal with loved ones. Located at Rue Buade, it lies in the Vieux Quebec area. The cafe has warm interiors, which reflect in their dishes and recipes. The service extended is attentive, while the menu on offer is elaborate, with special dishes for breakfast, group dining and lunch. Among all the... plus
