Yes, it was a $36 hamburger but I can't stop thinking about it. The beef was succulent and juicey and my favorite is the king mushroom used to top it. Go out for a nice dinner and go for it!
Overall my experience at bymark was only okay. The drinks were average the apple Mojito I had just tasted like lime juice. Our stakes weren't the greatest for a steakhouse they must of had a very off night because all our food was warm and the steaks were kind of tough. But they did have a great Whole roasted foie gras dish. It was amazing I would go back just to have that. It was perfectly cooked with very balanced earthy flavors.
Fantastic! Amazing service even though we were there for summerlicious. Try the lobster poutine - it will blow you away!
Celebrity chef Mark McEwan delivers "sophisticated" Continental dishes, including his famed "luxury burger", at this TD Centre "fine-dining" "standby for corporate types" "on expense accounts"; "stylish" despite an underground, "cavelike" setting, it also offers "polished" service and an "extensive wine list"; P.S. a DJ spins Thursday nights.
In the heart of the financial district sits the most corporate of the Mark McEwan empire of swanky restaurants. The menu ranges from fancy burgers and frites to steaks and snazzy seafood -- all of it presented in a grown-up atmosphere for the suits. The extensive wine list, which was a draw for big expense accounts before the recession hit, now offers good value, especially with a fine... more
Bymark belongs in the Financial District. Where else but Bay Street can you charge these kind of prices for lunch. Fat cats and expense accounts flock here for their infamous $36.95 Bymark Burger.
Had the organic salmon. Delicious ! The garnishing that came along with the dish was a little disappointing. I found it to be too busy. Additionally, having pomegranate combined with the other ingredients makes for a colourful and attractive presentation, but having to becareful of fish bones (which there was one - no complaints here as this is normal for fish) and pomegranate seeds makes for a... more
I really like this place...the patio is really nice in the warmer months and it has a great atmosphere. I've been here several times for drinks and appetizers after work...it's never too crowded which is nice considering it's right in the financial district. What a great summer patio. This restaurant is beautiful -- and quite large. I didn't notice the downstairs until I used to the washroom.

The seared tuna sashimi was delish! Def worth a try. But the real winner here is the lobster poutine. It's phenomenal but very heavy. Thankfully, they have a half portion available.

Actually it was my second time coming back to this restaurant. I decided to come back since it has a nice menu and I know it won't disappoint me nor my friend.

The four of us had a great time at the restaurant. We enjoyed the shrimp tacos, the lobster poutine was interesting and our steaks were delicious. One steak was too raw but my boyfriend liked it when he got it back. The bernaise sauce is a must-have with the steak. It brings it to a whole new level. All in all, a wonderful time was had by all!!!
Had a great summerlicious experience today at bymark! Food was great and were presented well. Ordered the octopus stew, simple chickpea stew with fresh herbs. Judging from all the other reviews, a couple of friends and I had great interest in trying out this restaurant in the heart of the Financial District. I went for the tagliatelle with braised lamb. For such a... more
I had their lobster poutine here. Back when work was path accessible I find myself at this restaurant on special occasions. It was neat t see my favourite show suits being filmed there when the south of temperance was torn down.
Went here with my family for lunch to celebrate my brother's promotion at work. Yes, it's a little pricey but it's fine dining, not some restaurant that you go to grab a bite on a daily basis. The service is as good as you would expect for a restaurant of this calibre - a smiley hostess to take you to your table, friendly and knowledgable wait staff,... more
As a visitor to Toronto, I did a fair amount of menu research before I came. Luckily, I chose Bymark as one of the restaurants to visit. The second I sat down I asked if they could do a tasting menu for me (after being disappointed by a lack of tasting menu the night before somewhere else). They said it was no problem, and they even did wine pairings.

For a high end restaurant, I wasn't too keen on the basementy feel of Bymark. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious overall. Our starter of beef tartar was amazing. Our icecream sundae for dessert was good, but not... more
This was my second Winterlicious of the year and I cannot rave enough about it. I'd go as far as to say it's my favourite Winterlicious/Summerlicious in the past few years.. it was just that good.

Yummy yummy yummy! I loved everything. It would have been 5 stars if the waiter didn't suck. She didn't come around alot and we waited at least 15 minutes even to order our drinks. Other than that, delish!!! I had the calamari and a grilled fish that was amazing.
Located underground in the heart of downtown Toronto, this place was certainly a hidden surprise. (Not sure if they still do it now, but you get a voucher or something for parking since parking downtown is quite pricey).
I would definitely come here for their lobster poutine again; it was a rare dish in Toronto and oh so good! A lobster tail is wrapped among a small dome of crisp fries, sauces...

Not a bad place to eat but there is literally no view, it's a little dark and the food has a bit too much salt in it. But, it has excellent portions, an extensive wine list and very good service.
I was happy with my roasted duck and would recommend it to people looking for a place to grab a quick bite after work in a sit-down setting.
I have tried several items on the menu - they usually have a great winterlicious menu.
I recommend the grilled lobster sandwich with fries
I felt compelled to write a review because this restaurant is VERY expensive and therefore should be 4 stars. I was there on a Monday night with my family. Service was excellent! I don't work in the downtown core so the restaurants there aren't top-of-mind. I was taking a client to lunch and wanted to go "somewhere good" so I asked my stock broker. Excellent restaurant with good food and service, people dine in feel welcoming and important.
Shrimp tacos and soup of the day were both well done. Shrimp tacos a tad expensive for what they are (nothing miraculous), but you know that coming in. The Tomahawk steak (32oz steak for sharing, $99) was still relatively chewy. Would expect a more tender steak for $50/person. Lobster poutine and risotto were both good. The service was attentive, informative and consistent - probably the best... more
We had the truffled burger, braised short ribs (which I no longer see on the menu), and a dessert trio. The food was good and the service was good, but we felt it was overpriced. The pasta was slightly oily. I had an appetizer with olives, then a main with lots of olives (didn't notice it on the menu). I was olive'd out by the end. The mushrooms were delicious.
The avocado martini didn't taste like avocado... i'd probably settle with a rye and ginger next time.
It was very thoughtful of the staff to pre-split out fries and Onion rings when my friend and I wanted to share our side orders.

Bymark has always been my go to places for lunch downtown. Food is still good. The Street Burger is very tasty , but the tempura onion ring is tasteless and a bit soggy. We sat outside hoping it would be quieter than indoors but a band started to play in the square. This made it a little more difficult to carry on a conversation. Also, the food was not as delicious as I thought it should be for the price. I had eaten there before and the food was quite tasty on that occasion and justified the price.
The service is really well maintained and the ambiance is typical. Yes a wee bit pretentious but the food is delishly tasty. Respect for Mark McEwan's vision here..this place never disappoints on the food front
An absolutely fantastic dinner. Wow. Staff was very friendly, always professional and accomodating of our wishes. Very grateful for the awesome dinner!
Our meal at Bymark was incredible. Every dish was delicious and it was clear the kitchen made every ingredient count. Loved the experience of dining at Bymark. The food was awesome, the atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly. Would recommend the restaurant for a romatic evening with that special someone.
Our Thursday night visit to Bymark was more quiet than we thought it would be. Interesting specialty drinks began the meal, followed by excellent ravioli and beef filet. The side dishes are not to be missed. Service was excellent, as we had our waiters full attention due to small crowd. Slick, modern design as well.
Innovative appetizers like shrimp "tacos" (shrimp and aioli "salad" in crispy beet "shells"), and individualizable entrees like tender grass fed filet mignon with your choice of sauces (horseradish, green peppercorn and orange, etc), make for a memorable and palette pleasing meal. Service was attentive and professional, and decor was minimalist.
Amazing service! Exceptional food! Great value!I always have an outstanding experience when I dine at Bymark.
The meal was excellent. Service was not bad, but I found the knowledge of the menu from our waitress was not that great. Seeing Mark Mcewan's attention to detail on Top Chef, I was surprised the waitress could not recommend a wine pairing for our meals. Didn't even consult with the chef. Again, not a criticism, just a note. Service was friendly and prompt.
took my wife for our 6 year anniversary. Great service, great atmosphere. The menu is quite pricey - I knew that ahead of time. Food was good, however I wasn't "wowed". For the money they charge, I deserve to be wowed by the food. Wasn't a bad meal by any means, but you will walk out saying to yourself it wasn't worth the money you spent.
Celebrating our anniversary. Came to Bymark and had a wonderful time. The service was exceptional. I had told the staff beforehand we were celebrating an anniversary, and requested a more private area. Why the three stars? Nice decor, presentation, and service- the usual standards for a fine dining establishment. Food's not too shabby.

If you are coming to Bymark, you have to accept that it is going to be expensive. That being said, there is lots of competition within Toronto at the same range, so you still expect it to be great. I have eaten here a few times over the years and to be honest I thought it had lost its touch... more

Went to dinner last Friday, for the BF's birthday. I couldnt be more impressed. Here is what I loved:
(1) Ambiance: 10/10. Amazing lighting and decor. Although gives you the corporate feel, it doesnt intimidate and still leaves you warm.
(2) Service: 10/10. I truly couldnt rave enough about our waiter. He was super friendly and helpful. When I told him I was...

My wife and I went to Bymark recently for a post-Valentines day dinner. As has been mentioned, the restaurant is in the lower level of an office tower...not the most romantic spot perhaps. That being said, the subdued decor is fine if a bit underwhelming. The real attraction here is the food. My starter of lobster poutine was decadently delicious... more
I had winterlicious and the food was ok. I had the bymark burger which is on their regular menu. It was ok, but I had better burger elsewhere. The service was ok especially during busy lunch time.
I heard amazing things about this restaurant, but I admit I haven't gone yet for proper dinner. A friend and me went for Winterlicious lunch. It was good, but you could see that the food wasn't that amazing. Everything good tasting, but I expected a little more.
I'm happy to have finally have secured a Winterlicious lunch booking today at Bymark. My husband and I loved our lunch. He had the famous hamburger and loved it. My beet argula salad came with these tiny pillow shaped crackers stuffed with goat cheese and topped with sea salad. I shared one of these tiny crackers with my husband. He... more
Winterlicious at Bymark does not disappoint.
Bymark's lunch Winterlicious menu showcased 3 appies, 3 main and 3 dessert. Happy with my selection as per below.
Bread was offered - Multi grain or bagette - piping hot and fresh.
Parsnip soup with spotted prawn - winter soup style nicely accented by chilli pepper and grapefruit. Not spotted prawn season but still nice.
Bymark burger - Wow. This was...

This was my first visit to Bymark, by way of Winterlicious 2013. The cost was $45 for a prix-fixe dinner menu.
The food was great, overall. For appetizers, we had the lamb sausage and cured gravlax. The sausage was excellent, but I was disappointed in the small portion (3 smallish bites). I wasn't a fan of the gravlax, but it's rare that I enjoy fish. My girlfriend likes fish, but she thought...

The food is pretty good if very expensive but the wine at more than 3 times retail is ridiculously expensive so we do not go there any more.
This is one of Mark McEwen's restaurants that has predictable high end food. The patio in the summer is very nice. The dinning room is dark sometimes cozy and some times cold.
I had this post-holiday lunch with my friend. Bymark was not my first choice as it is typically business people doing powers lunches and chatting loud. Surprisingly it was very quiet that day which is conducive for quiet conversation. Maybe people were still on holidays. Food is ok and tuna sashima is very fresh, which is a nice surprise for... more
Another visit. Another great meal. The menu includes enough for most tastes. The chef has an excellent touch. Food is expertly prepared and they are great with gluten issues. Service level is high. A great spot. Too bad it is in a basement but you can't have it all.
dark space, bit pretentious, but food is amazing...had the steak frites, which was done very well - a bit of an asian-fusion element to the menu, which i didn't expect
Absolutely love the atmosphere at this restaurant. The lobster poutine was incredible, and thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails. Our mains were great too. Love this resto and would definitely visit over and over again.
I've been to Bymark a couple of times, once for a birthday celebration, and once when friends came in from the U.S. It's the kind of place to take people and not worry about them not enjoying the meal!
Mark is a genius. Darlene is a service artist. Brook...ah Brook. This is the Toronto experience. The service is a ten, the food is a ten. The outdoor patio in the summer is heaven, quite, scenic, relaxing. I love it. They can do nothing to improve. Way to go guys, you are running on all cylinders.
Great location in the core of downtown. Well appointed and very good service. A little on the pricey side given portion size, but food quality is wonderful.
Bymark is a very popular business lunch and dinner venue. The main restaurant is part of the Path system, so it is very convenient for bad weather days. It's celebrity chef, Mark McEwan, ensures a good experience. The main restaurant has no windows so there is never any natural light. Fine for an intimate dinner, but less uplifting for lunch.... more
This, in my opinion, is one of the better spots in Toronto. The menu is comprehensive. The chef has a great touch with flavours. Lobster poutine is outstanding for instance! Very nice service. Only issue is the fact that the location is underground. No windows. But lovely overall.
Wanted everything on the menu. Had the Lobster Poutine...sooo amazing!!! And the 16 oz ribeye.... 10/10. The al a carte veggies were fantastic like grilled Brussels sprouts with candied walnuts and garlic mashed and sautéed mushrooms. Desert were these tim bit sized doughnuts just made filled with a decadent cream and fresh Carmel sauce for dipping. They were OMG and... more
Bymark was recommended to us as one of the best restaurants in the city. We chose it as our last dinner in town.
The space is very nice and there is also a bar with a good vibe upstairs. The food was amazing. We had the shrimp tacos and lobster poutine as staters. For dinner, my wife got a steak...

This restaurant is good for a business lunch or dinner because of its convenient location. The food is average and a bit pricey for what it is. Comfortable room but no windows. Service was very good.
Always good and never disappoints. The bymark burger is a guilty pleasure that i keep going back to.
One of our Winterlicious experience: it's a higher price Winterlicious offering, but we found the food only mediocre to good, decor is average, and so is the service. It's in the same bldg as the Canoe, but Canoe would be a much better deal.
Stumbling here by accident, we were treated to an excellent lunch. The veal sandwich is quite possibly the best I've had, but it's similarity to one purchased at California Sandwiches for a third of the price keeps me from falling head-over-heels. The Frette table linens are exquisite- luxury of the highest order and the service was attentive and charming. I will return for dinner sometime-... more
"""Best basement in Canada! Very stylish for a windowless space. Food outstanding, and they happily split any item -- so it's easy to have a tapas-style feast at moderate cost."""
"""Second time eating at Bymark, haven't disappointed yet and will definately return."""
"""Great! Food, decor, service, it has the whole package. Best luxury burger in town."""
Love the upper restaurant-bar in TD court. My favourite spot for business lunches on a Thursday-Friday!
Good food among the scene of corporate titans behaving badly.
Killer food made by a culinary king with prices to match. Opt for the coolest patio in the financial district.
One of the best restaurants in Toronto. You have to try the cookie sampler.
"""Food is excellent. I have never seen a table eat so quickly as when we ordered the lobster grilled cheese to start...say goodbye to Red Lobster!! Kills the expense account, but worth it."""
Take me to Bymark any time for their overpriced and exceptional burger with crispy mouth watering fries or share a seafood platter for two or three and you will experience the best seafood selection in town.
"""Wonderful dinner. This is what fine dining should be all about. At first, they did not want to seat us with 3 kids in the dining room, but ultimately we received great service, especially when the kids began to order filet mignons and foie gras dishes.."""
great downtown location .. eat on the roof terrace if the weather permits.
Excellent. I would go more often but they don't have corkage. I have nothing to compain about at all. One of the cities 3 best restaurants.
Could the chef figure out a different way to cook salmon that does not involve banana leaves? It is time to change the menu! And if you were planning to have a conversation with your dinner companion.....forget it. When the restaurant is busy, the noise is so great that you cannot hear anyone....not even the server telling you tHe specials. I recommend avoiding Bymark!
Outstanding food and service. Highly professional, attentive staff looking after the front of the house. Rivals experiences at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London and Daniel in New York. Executive Chef Brooke McDougall put together a spectacular tasting menu and wine pairing for our table on request and came out to personally grate the truffle on his risotto dish then invited us for a grand... more
outrageous prices but McEwan knows best and his tireless attention to detail make this a great special occasion destination
Outstanding food and a calm, subterranean setting that benefits from high ceilings and a towering glass wine cellar. Action packed outdoor terrace attracts the Bay Street crowd with money to burn and the usual catchers on trying to score. Highly attentive
Simple food well prepared; the best restaurant in the path; but that is not saying much. Try the lobster tacos (not on the menu). Schnitzel for coronary bypass and the upstairs bar is a great place to drown your market worries, although you may have to li
One of my favourite Chef Mark McEwan restaurants! I have never been disappointed. One little reminder, great idea to book well in advance.
Bymark has excellent food! I had a starter of ribs and had the salmon as my main. The ribs were succulent and fell right of the bone. In one word: excellent. The salmon was also soft and delicious. The service was great as well. The decor is simple and mo
Bymark caters to the young upwardly mobile lawyers in the building. The decor is boringly minimal. The ambience feels edgy and cold. Service is smooth but nothing special. Their big promotion is to have expensive hamburgers and fries in an expensive resta
Very good. full of expense account brokers (though not so many any more). Service is always good - but clearly amazing for the key high end friends of Mark. While awsome, not the best of McEwan's restaurants.
Excellent food. The decor is above average but provides a noisy background to business discussions. Service can be excellent but also short of perfect for such a pricy venue.
Located under the TD Tower, the decadent Bymark burger is justly famous.
The best foie gras and burger in Toronto, would recommend it to everyone and would definitely go back.
Food was great. Got the oysters and the kobie burger just because. Everyone else's food looked more exciting to be honest. Went with people from work so couldn't share tastes.
Food was good but expensive. Very noisy during lunch time as tables are very close to each other.
Really enjoyed our dining experience. Menu is interesting, service is very good. A lovely dining experience.
Food is really only average, and you have to like eating in a cave. Menu has more misses than hits and tries too hard to be creative without being edible
great food, lovely decor, although underground. Prices are not for the faint of pocketbook, but quality is always there. A real "power lunch".
Suprisingly good food - maybe the best lunch downtown. Staff friendly and efficient. Bar a total zoo on Thursdays - packed with the teenbeat, Coug's and the fading Bay street cowboys
Bymark's famous burger is ridiculously expensive but well worth it.
Outstanding food, always consistently great service. A very reliable choice.
We went to Bymark for Summerlicious. The restaurant had a great atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and extremely pleasant. We sampled everything off the summerlicious menu and also ordered the foie gras from the regular appetizer menu. The food was to die for. The Bymark burger was so moist and juicy, and the rosewater pavlova dessert just melts in your mouth. We loved the food and... more
Last April I went to Bymark with a friend to celebrate my birthday. It is located in the TD centre, so it is easy to access through the PATHWAY system that is attached to the subway. The ambiance was lovely. It was very sleek and modern, without being pretentious. It was mostly lit by candle light. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and was able to advise us on certain wines,... more
Excellent food I had the duck risotto app and salmon entree so good Great wines. The featured wine was Hoague Washington which you dont see often here.Atmosphere is chic but didnt like how loud it got in there since the ceilings were lowExpensive but worth the for a special night out.Service was perfect.
Expensive but nice settinglighting and top quality food. Although I have to say nothing very exciting.
Love the underground cozy feel of the room. Best marbling on a steak Ive ever seen.
The downtown eatery of North 44°’s star chef/owner Mark McEwan. Try roasted venison loin with crisp potato tuile in truffle enriched sauce, and grilled smoked quails with stewed french lentils. Lunch Mon.-Fri., dinner Mon.-Sat. Smart casual. Entrees: $29-$49. AE, MC, V.
Located in the busy Financial District of Toronto, Bymark is a classy fine dining establishment that serves some of the best food in the city. Their clientele generally consists of businessmen, but it is also good for a special family dinner. Located on the top of a skyscraper, this restaurant has a terrace area that provides one with stunning views of the Toronto skyline, and is also less... more
Located in the atrium at the TD Centre, and downward another level; flooded with sunlight, it feels more like a gallery than a restaurant. The street level atrium is great for grazing on light Bymark-style fare until the early hours (2 a.m.). Bymark may be a few steps below ground, but its decor and service is on the mark. While the servers are chummy and casual, no detail goes unnoticed. The... more
Chef Mark McEwen (of North 44° fame) has a loyal following – one meal here, and you'll be joining the fan club. The space itself is attractive: uncluttered, with smooth lines and a muted color palette, it's a nice foil for McEwen's contemporary Continental cuisine. Foie gras is pan-seared and paired with the acidic tang of rhubarb compote and crunch of onion tempura. The signature Bymark Burger... more
