Some friends that live in Vancouver suggested that we stop off for lunch on our way back from Whistler and we were very glad that we did. It was busy, but we were given a nice table over-looking the harbour. It was a welcome break in our journey and we would certainly visit again. Give it a try.
Decided to come here on Sunday afternoon, lovely sunny day, the restaurant is right on the water so its a perfect venue. Went in and was told that we could not be seated for 20 minutes as there was a "food delay". We were told to wait at the front door. I looked into the restaurant, it was about 50%... more
The scenery is amazing. If you reserve, ask for the interior table in the west corner that is near the outside deck. It has always been a hit when I have taken family groups.
It is also a place where us Locals go for premium Seafood.
The location and views are to die for, wisps of cloud and tendrils of trees clinging to vast granite walls over the ocean. Plus, they have some nice wood burning in the fireplace, so the woodsmoke smells are appealing on rainy days (of which there are a lot in Horseshoe Bay). Plus, the room is beautiful.
But... the staff are...

This place used to be a decent upscale Keg Steakhouse restaurant.
Formerly great Surf and Turf, Caesar salad, stuffed caps, baked potatoes and steak of all kinds and price ranges. You get the picture. It was expensive, the kitchen was on the ball but you got a good meal. At this particular location a precious gorgeous view. The decor is...

We visited the Boathouse on a lovely sunny Spring day down in Horseshoe Bay.
The menu offers predominantly seafood choices and was a great choice to look out over the horseshoe bay with a snow capped Mountain backdrop.
I had the cod with three pieces for around 19 dollars which is a fairly average price for a restaurant.
We had a large group for lunch. There was no loud music so we could all talk and hear each other. The food was good, so was the service. We were treated like our business meant something to them. We would go back for sure.magpie014
Pleasant meal, prix fixe, but not too pricey for New Year's Eve. Attentive but not pushy staff. Great way to end the old year.
The Boathouse is a West coast classic, it is to Fish, what the Keg is to beef, several locations serve up a similar menu, all of them within the flavourful aroma of salt water.
I had the Chowder, and an appy of two fresh Oysters, the fresh Oysters here are always superb.
My partner had the Fish Tacos, we were...

Went on Remembrance Day. Had wonderful food and great service. Reasonable prices too. I had the coconut cod on the healthy menu. Absolutely loved it. My husband had the fish and chips. His plate was completely clean when we left.
Location and service second to none, menu was inspiring and creative. Saturday night service was slow based on volumes for the kitchen. Amazing west coast inspired creations.
One of our favorite restaurants on the North Shore! Food is always good, service is great & the view of the BC Ferries coming and going adds to the charm. There's also a busy marina with small boat traffic right below the restaurant. It's especially great in the summertime when you sit outside!
The location is lovely and it is hard to understand the difficulty in getting a quick answer when you try to make a reservation. Just seems like the front desk is never welcoming. The table-service was excellent ( thanks Geoff !) The food varies a lot , this time he steaks were very over -seasoned ( too much salt )... more
Liked the food, lovely view, specially in a sunny day, to take advantage of the area. Disliked the high price and difficult to reach if not familiar with West Vancouver, the best way, is to take the bus on Georgia St., Vancouver to Horshoebay.
We were there for lunch on a foul day, so did not get the most from the scenery. The service was good and friendly, the food was very good. I and my niece had the Steelhead trout and my wife had the Halibut in Miso that she thoroughly enjoyed. The dessert was great and enormous. However the experience was marred... more
Nice view but the menu seemed dated and the appetizers were mediocre at best. My halibut entree was quite good. Service was hit or miss.
Visiting Vancouver and the Boathouse was recommended to us by our hotel staff for the food and ambiance. Halibut in Miso was amazing as was the salmon ordered by my husband. The apple crisp was large enough to share with 4. It was great and I would certainly return.
Three of us stopped for lunch after a hike on Labour day Monday. They offered breakfast till 2, and one of us ordered the "Better than Benny", and he was pleased. I ordered the coconut shrimp, which was exactly as I expected it, very nice and more than plenty for one person. The third person ordered Cod Steak on Quinoa... more
Let me count the ways this place was a disaster. It was 3 pm, well after the lunch bunch had departed - if they go there. Server, when he finally showed up, told us there were delays in the kitchen. How true, 45 minutes later our orders arrived. My husband and I ordered the extra big serving of calamari, turned... more
My wife and I had one of our first dates together at this restaurant in HorseShoe Bay, and we came back 27 years later to remember. We were promptly seated, given a waterfront table on the 2nd floor, with a beautiful view of the docks & ferry landing. Right around sunset; although it was cloudy the lighting was beautiful. My... more
We went to the boathouse for lunch. 1:30 pm on a Thursday.
An entire patio was empty on one side, inside the restaurant was empty ... The outside "main" patio was fairly full but there were tables free. Upon entry the "hostess" didnt even look up or greet us with eye contact or even a hello or welcome.
So when...

just a short drive out of the city finds this quiet tiny town, home to the ferries and tucked away in a corner, a delightful Boathouse. we started with French 75......pause for imaginations to blossom. contained champagne of course. the meal was lovely and because i had recently signed up for the Landry's select club, it was cheaper than fast... more
we had lunch on a weekday. very fresh seafood. My son just loved the Cod fillet n chips. The mussels was excellent, as always. Service was average +. I thought it was a bit pricy, but after an mediocre meal at Candian Place, I found the price there was great value.
We have visited the Boathouse in Horseshoe Bay often, but after our last visit we will not be as eager to return... Without a doubt the location and views from the restaurant are fantastic, but we were sadly disappointed by the deteriorating decor, average service and ordinary food on our last visit.
We noticed broken light fixtures and stained and...

Unfortunately, I share many other comments about poor service, expensive food not-so-great food.
I went there for a lazy Sunday afternoon lunch. At the entrance, the first rude shock was the valet rushed pass my wife without apologizing.
Table set up was cheap, server looked disinterested, foods were bland, and there were flies in the restaurant. In short, the place...

Thought this restaurant looked nice so went with my Girlfriend. Have to say was very disappointed, the food was alright but I would not rave and in fact made my girlfriend unwell. We visit the Boathouse frequently - it is conveniently located - and on Friday went for a family dinner (six of us). We had noticed on earlier visits a gradual deterioration in the level of service and the abilities of kitchen staff. Our reservation was handled well, the welcome was warm and respectful and we were shown to our table... more
Went to this restaurant for Father's Day dinner, a bit of a wait, but totally expected for the occasion. Food was delicious and the staff was extremely attentive. Our waiter Geoff was honestly one of, if not the best, waiters we have ever been served by. Very enjoyable experience
Go early for window seats, amazing views. Chowder was yummy, skip the crab dip app. Heidi gave great service.
We go every year. I don't know what happened this year. The buffet was not like that last few years. You have the choice of two salads, no buns or breads not much of anything. The deserts looked like they could of came from Costco. It was very disappointing.
The service here was poor and the waiter sounded like he was on crack. There we no table settings when we were sat at our table. They were slow to fill glasses. There was no bread. Gave us paper napkins? The food was overpriced and the servings were small. It seemed as if they were doing some sort of quality... more
We went to this Restaurant for my birthday dinner. I have been going to this restaurant for a long time with my family and it seems to be going downhill.

If you have the time before your ferry, this is a perfect choice.
Great selection of seafood at a reasonable price considering it is on the water. Worth the drive for a romantic meal. Priced well and great service.
We have dined at the Boathouse often but today was the first time I have been disappointed. Ordered an omelette from their Daily Brunch menu. The eggs were bright yellow and had absolutely no texture at all... runny and watery. When I asked if they were Powder Eggs, the waiter checked and returned with the comment, "Yes, they are from... more
Ate in Port Moody boathouse really nice food and great atmosphere.Great views even in winter. Would reccommend
Historically this was our favourite seafood restaurant. Usually perfectly cooked seafood, great service, but tonight with Dine Out Vancouver, we were disappointed. Service was poor. Salads were much smaller than usual. Our main didn't arrive until 45min later. We both ordered Cedar Plank Sampler. Fish was overcooked and dry, rice was dry and not even edible. Apparently we were told... more
Horseshoe Bay is not just for ferry passengers, it is worth a trip to enjoy the view and great food and service.
This restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere. The food was good and the service great. The prices were in line with the quality.
This restaurant is a beautiful location. The view is breathtaking. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed with the food I've ordered or the wine I have chosen. The service, though, as others have mentioned, is hit-and-miss. There is a particularly excellent server there named Nate. If you are able to get him, you are fortunate.... more
Well, let's just say that the Boathouse is one of my very favorite's for Seafood. I am a frequent guest at the Horseshoe Bay location. I have tried most of them and I like the one in HS Bay the best. Seth is the best waiter in the whole chain!!! When I travel and stay out in Richmond and I... more
We always go to Horseshoe Bay on nice days and we seek out this place because of their protected patio that gets sun and little wind. The food is very good and consistent.
We like the English Bay location more for people watching.
We went to the Boathouse for my birthday dinner & my husband was planning to treat me to a "live Atlantic lobster dinner"...as advertised on the website. We inquired about the 'market value' of the meal & was told it was $44.99. We decided to go ahead with it & my husband ordered the steak & lobster tail dinner for... more
Do not be fooled! This is a harbour front versus ocean front location contrary to their advertizements. We were told that this was the place to get great seafood and were terribly let down. We chose the frish and chips and it should have been called greasy batter and chips. The Northwest seafood pasta is my favourite. Along with the fried oysters. The food is all quality. The service is great. The servers come to check up on you once in a while to see if you need anything and to see if your food is ok.

Nice location in Horseshoe Bay Boathouse. Over looking the ferry comings and goings. The food is delicious. The wait staff is very friendly.
