We rode there on an island bike tour, easy ride from ferry. Small cabin with just the basics. Clean and neat, all we needed for a good price considering the islands are expensive. We would stay there again.
Way too overpriced. The owner is unstable and accused us of things we didn't do. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets and towels smelled mouldy. The rooms were freezing and the baseboard heaters didn't work.
As part of a bike tour of the islands, my husband and I spent one night in the Hummingbird Cabin. Although it is the smallest of the cabins, it had all we needed. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the kitchen had all the basics. There was a small table plus chairs in addition to two comfortable chairs... more
We wanted to get away before the holiday rush & found this gem on internet, it was exactly what we were looking for. It is an older resort but everything was clean & the beds were comfortable. Quite..
This property cannot be called a resort. Accommodation is not modern, but it was quiet. The larger duplex cabins have a number of stairs to climb to the front door, so if you have some mobility issues I don't recommend them. Cell reception can be sketchy, so if your phone does not work you could use the Telus payphone for... more
I recently stayed at the Blue Vista Resort while visiting the island on business. I would like to return with some family and friends. As other reviewers have stated, the suites not modern but are well-equipped. The fireplace ready and waiting for us when we arrived made for a lovely evening enjoying the living room. My bed was comfortable and... more
Excellent location, the is,and is beautiful with plenty of things to do and beaches to explore.
The lodges have everything you need, they may not be modern but everything works as it should.
If there's something you don't have or you are unsure about you can easily just ask and they'll help
A lovely stay at the Blue Vista Resort for our first trip to Mayne Island - we hope to be back! We stayed in the Blue Heron cabin for a birthday weekend away. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. It was peaceful and just the break we were hoping for. Short walk to the beach.
The owner had a family emergency and had to leave but instead of cancelling our reservation she made sure we had everything we needed...

Stayed Thanksgiving weekend. There were five of us altogether and the little cottage in a half duplex suited us well. I think we were in a Arbutus cottage. There were two bedrooms, one 4 piece bathroom, a living room with a pull-out sofa and a cute kitchen that was well stocked and a cozy living room with a small tv... more
Enjoyed cabin (king Fisher) with our furry 4 legged golden retriever.Evening ambience with wood burning fireplace. Good location, will be back. the kitchen was fully appointed. There were BBQ's in the friend lawn that other residents enjoyed. This is a great venue for a reunion of for extended family.

This place saved us! After our first night on the island being a horrible one we found this to be amazing! You truly saved our girls weekend and we will be back for more! The owner was personable and approachable. The set up of the cabins gives you that home away from home feel. Cabins are nicely kept, full of... more
After a mishap at where we were booked to stay we contacted the owner of the Blue Vista (way too early in the morning) and she arranged to meet us at the cottages to check us in. She was so gracious and understanding of our situation.
The cottages are a little home away from home in regards to everything you...

Carmen, ( the operator ) set me up in a clean ,cozy cabin with a fireplace to take away any cool dampness from the out side elements. I had picked up a few groceries locally and I had everything I needed. Pots and pans cutlery ,nice bedroom. Such a super hostess and always busy making sure everything is spic and... more
I came to Mayne looking for a quiet, out-of-the-way, deep-in-the-winter retreat and this is exactly what I found. The cabin was cozy, with a lovely wood fireplace to ward off the winter storm. I don't know about nearby amenities because I wasn't looking for them; I came primarily to be left to my own for a few days and that's... more
Highly recommended: my husband and I stayed in this resort on New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time in our bright, warm, cozy and spotless little cabin. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, which was a definite plus as we both have back problems. The cabin was equipped with everything that we needed to make our stay enjoyable... more
We just returned from a pleasant adventure to Mayne Island, BC at the Blue Vista Resort-definitely five star! Nine charming cabins, fully equipped and clean. I stayed at this resort in July. When I booked my 3 night stay, I explained to the owner that I would be travelling alone and I was looking for peace and quiet. My reservation confirmation from the Blue Vista describes it as "A small cottage resort that provides a peaceful getaway for couples, singles, families and small groups looking... more
The cabin is lovely, we had a nice deck and enjoyed the morning sun. There is a playground area in the common space and it was pretty quiet at first.
We had two groups of families with lots of kids who had the run of the common area so not quite so quiet.
We managed to find quiet times by...

4 nights 5 day excellent Blue Vista rooms hospitality made for a very comfortable stay. Not a big traveler but thanks for the relaxing affordable stay.
We rented one of the studio cottages in August 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful, the cottages are very clean and have everything you need, including a kitchenette and porch. The prices are very reasonable for the service and amenities. It is a short walk from the resort to the beach.
Between the Blue Vista, The Wild Fennel and Linda's Bakery, I had to rip my kids off the island. This place is a a total breath of fresh air! Our cottage was spotlessly maintained and had a handy kitchenette. We got stuck missing our Ferry (which is a bit tricky to time sometimes...) Carmen was kind and really helpful. The... more
We rented the Kingfisher cottage at Blue Vista for 2 nights. We were given a courtesy ride to and from the resort to Village Bay ferry terminal thanks to Carmen and Andrew our hots at Blue Vista. The cottages are really cute. The rooms are very clean. We had a nice fireplace in our cottage. The showers are awesome (very strong power) but we were the only ones at the resort one day yet ran out of hot water. The cottages also have kitchens, which is important because there are only two eateries on the island. There... more
We decided to stay on Mayne Island during the Olympics but didn't want to bring our car over from Vancouver. We called Carmen, the new owner, and she happily agreed to pick us up from the Ferry Terminal on Mayne. It is a short ferry trip from the Vancouver terminal but check the departure schedules to make sure it fits... more
We went last year in October 2009 to Mayne Island and stayed in the "Blue Vista Resort ",which was recommended by some friends of ours.We where pleasantly surprised at the nice cabins. Some bigger, some smaller, they all looked very clean and where newly decorated. And there is no smoking in the cabins, which is great. We had one of the bigger cabins and felt right... more
The Blue Vista Resort is under new management. We stayed in unit no. 5, which was very adequately furnished with comfortable furniture. The kitchen was well equipped so we cooked in every night, and dined before a roaring fire.
